I would strongly caution anyone considering Lakewood Nursery. About a year ago, I purchased a large podocarpus tree from them for several hundred dollars and paid an additional couple hundred dollars for installation in the planter in front of my house. Not long after planting, the tree didn't seem to be developing properly, so I stopped by looking for advice. The experience was disappointing. The employee helping me appeared visibly intoxicated in the middle of the day (someone I believe is connected to ownership, as I had met him during the purchase). He was unhelpful and dismissive, so I left without any real guidance. I continued trying to care for the tree, but within two months it died. When I returned to ask whether there was any warranty, replacement option, or even assistance toward purchasing a new tree, I was met by a rude employee who immediately became defensive, repeatedly emphasizing that they are a "family-owned business" while offering zero accountability or solutions. Instead, I was blamed for the tree dying, despite the fact that I had already come in previously asking for help. For a business that sells and installs expensive trees, I expected at least some level of customer service, support, or professionalism. Instead, I got poor advice, no accountability, and an overall hostile experience. I'll be taking my business elsewhere and would recommend others do the same. Update: After digging up the dead tree, it was obvious why it failed. The root ball was extremely tight and root-bound, likely from sitting too long in the nursery box. It only had two mature roots supporting it, and both had been cut during removal and installation. They also didn't use fresh soil when planting it, which gave it little chance to establish. I went to another family-owned nursery afterward, and the difference was clear--they stood behind their product and offered a one-year warranty. read more

Highly Recommend! David was amazing. We were debating whether to go to Lowe's or home depot but decided to stop by Lakewood nursery and boy we're glad we did. David was extremely helpful and knowledgeable. We came in looking for Star Jasmine and David showed us exactly what to purchase, and how to plant and care for them. We will be back as we continue our garden project. read more

Thankful for Alfonso who came to our home about an hour asking him for help regarding Bermuda sod installation that another local 'landscaper' did a poor job with. Good advice was given to try and it was so nice to have our concerns validated. So disappointed with our original choice for this job. :/ Thank you! read more

Lakewood Nursery is huge! I was honestly surprised at how many options they have -- everything from flowers to trees, and especially a fantastic succulent selection. The prices are very fair (succulents are a steal compared to other places I've been), and the whole nursery is really well maintained. You can tell they take pride in keeping it clean and organized. There's also plenty of parking, so no circling around forever, and the service here is fast and efficient. I was able to find what I needed, get help when I had a question, and check out in no time. Definitely my new go-to nursery in the area! read more

The service is great and I can always find what I need. The plants are healthy and the nursery stands behind what they sell.

Best nursery, hands down. Old school service and an amazing selection...if you can't find it here, they will have it to you next day. Class act all around, been coming here for over 25 years, these are the businesses you want to support, and with better prices than the big box stores, there is no reason not to...they have my business for life. read more

Took my mom here for Mother's Day and she enjoyed it so much! She said it was the best nursery she has been to! Great experience

Came here on a weekday, early afternoon. It wasnt too busy. I didn't really notice any employees roaming around the plant area, they were all around the counter and in the center store. They have a huge selection of plants, trees, flowers, succulents, all of it. Many different sizes to choose from as well, and very organized. Seems like the prices were pretty fair as well. The only thing i was kinda disappointed about, was the indoor plants in the green house.. they were all bone dry and looked like they were dying. I went home with a string of bananas and small philodendron birkin. read more

Shopped here for plants many times and received wonderful help. Good supply of all things needed for my garden. Easy parking easy access.

I was looking for an alternative plant nursery, and I think I found it! Aside from going to Home Depot and Armstrong nurseries, which, quite frankly, have ridiculous prices and an overrated selection, I was just out of ideas of where to go. Then bammm. Just literally saw this place from the street and drove in to check it out!. To my surprise so much to see, and the selection is wild! Lots of variety, lots of different species and colors and what I truly enjoyed, the prices made my wallet happy. Literally 20% to 30% less . The person who helped was super knowledgeable and was upfront and helpful. Check it out, family owned business is the way to go! read more

I wish I liked this place more. The people were very friendly. It wasn't super busy when I came (weekday morning). The selection is actually top notch. However, I didn't grab anything as it was out of my budget for plants. I will say though that if you are looking for a variety of plants outside the garden department at Lowe's or Home Depot, this place is great. Their vegetable and herb selection had so many unique plants. Maybe when I'm ready to start my edible plants garden I will come back. read more

Wanted to come leave this here in hopes that customers are treated differently. My 21 year old son visited this nursery this afternoon looking for a plant for my birthday. The older white lady with glasses was not helpful at all. As a matter of fact she was rude. The white older gentleman that ended up helping my son was very helpful and friendly. Hope the woman was just having a bad day bc that's not how you treat customers. read more

Always find something new, but today I noticed a lot of the succulents and or the plants I usually buy (house plants) We're not in the greatest condition. This place is amazing. I came here after looking for vines and trees at other nurseries. Alfonso introduced himself and spent at least 20 min helping me find what I needed. I became an indoor plant mommy during this pandemic and I am so proud of my plants that just beautify our home. This became my hobby while working from home, I've been here many time on my lunch break, after work, and on the weekends. I am addicted. I love this nursery a lot and it's so close to home. I highly recommend this place for indoor and outdoor plants. They also have a huge selection of succulents. Everything is priced great and the staff are all friendly. This is such a great nursery, you'll find what you need and more. I am here at least once a week and I can't wait to go back. read more

After visiting multiple nurseries, I've noticed that Lakewood Nursery prices are about 40% or more to other places for the same plants. The plants need a little love and care. I still think delivery for $25 within 10 miles is a good deal though. This is not my go-to place any longer. read more

It's a paradise! My dad has been a customer for years and decided to share his hidden gem with me. Now I can't stop going. I definitely did not imagine all they'd have. #ServiceStarShoutOutDay This is a local nursery that has many more organic options for plants and other gardeners' needs than the bigger box store chains. I bought several pots of milkweed to support a monarch butterfly habitat I received as a gift. The plants were not just healthy but also came with their own monarch butterfly caterpillars and eggs- that's proof right there that they were grown organically. Also got a variety of herbs: pineapple mint, two other types of basil (Thai and purple) and another mint plant. They had tons of tomato, lettuces and kale, flowering plants by the flat, companion plants for your vegetable garden (marigold and nasturtium attract aphids and other non beneficial insects). They also sell live earthworms for your garden. They sell garden soil and premium garden soil conditioners for those who want to grow "recreational" plants. I'm using these though for my vegetable patch. The young workers (David) also very kindly will load your bags of dirt in your car for you. Try getting that service from the box store. I wish they carried more plant boxes or pots. read more

Lakewood Nursery has been nothing but phenomenal! I came across their nursery on Yelp as I was searching for where I could purchase a String of Hearts. I came in & I asked and luckily one was available! Every employee was wearing a mask, everyone was helpful, and their prices are very affordable! If you're starting a plant collection (indoor or outdoor), I highly recommend coming here. I've had a friend stop by after I mentioned their spot on social media and she was super satisfied and took home a few plants as well! I picked up a few more plants that day and have been coming back every week since to add to my collection. The nursery is HUGE and there are tons of options. Everyone working here is so kind & helpful. Stop by if you get the chance!! Thank you, Lakewood Nursery, for my new plants & amazing experience! read more

Came here at 8:25am in a Saturday and they're closed. Of course their mailbox is not set up, not sure if there are new hours or someone running late. Update: My response to owner's response from google, I understand that emergencies happen. By the time he was done, he then unlock the nursery gate after 8:35. Your emergency is different from mine I guess. read more
