David was extremely helpful and knowledgeable. We came in looking for Star Jasmine and David showed us exactly what to purchase, and how to plant and care for them. We will be back as we continue our garden project.

I would strongly caution anyone considering Lakewood Nursery…read more About a year ago, I purchased a large podocarpus tree from them for several hundred dollars and paid an additional couple hundred dollars for installation in the planter in front of my house. Not long after planting, the tree didn't seem to be developing properly, so I stopped by looking for advice. The experience was disappointing. The employee helping me appeared visibly intoxicated in the middle of the day (someone I believe is connected to ownership, as I had met him during the purchase). He was unhelpful and dismissive, so I left without any real guidance. I continued trying to care for the tree, but within two months it died. When I returned to ask whether there was any warranty, replacement option, or even assistance toward purchasing a new tree, I was met by a rude employee who immediately became defensive, repeatedly emphasizing that they are a "family-owned business" while offering zero accountability or solutions. Instead, I was blamed for the tree dying, despite the fact that I had already come in previously asking for help. For a business that sells and installs expensive trees, I expected at least some level of customer service, support, or professionalism. Instead, I got poor advice, no accountability, and an overall hostile experience. I'll be taking my business elsewhere and would recommend others do the same. Update: After digging up the dead tree, it was obvious why it failed. The root ball was extremely tight and root-bound, likely from sitting too long in the nursery box. It only had two mature roots supporting it, and both had been cut during removal and installation. They also didn't use fresh soil when planting it, which gave it little chance to establish. I went to another family-owned nursery afterward, and the difference was clear--they stood behind their product and offered a one-year warranty.

As I live in Northern California (Crockett), I tried Armstrong here hoping to score a plant. Talked w a guy who said that he was sold out of the particular plant, and I was sort of bummed, but accepted the fact that after trying another vendor, no luck would be on my side. After noodling around the store for other cool stuff, I get this "Hey!" and low and behold he found 2 Cousin It plants for me! I was surprised and happy he found them! He went out of his way to look for this particular plant and let me know that they had them! I went home happy and just stoked that this kind of customer service STILL existed in this world! Bringing home this plant back to Northern California was truly something as I had someone who cared enough to make my inquiry happen!!!

I was in the market for roses specifically a climbing variety, I only saw one yellow type. Maybe will stop by again to see if they stock more in the future. Besides the vast selection of supplies of garden furniture, plant food , vases and plants. I honestly think they need to also work on welcoming their customers. I encountered three different employees not one made an effort , a little acknowledgment with a hello , how can I help you, let me know what you need help with, Can go a long way.

Who knew we had such a treasure trove of unique bonsai in LA?! From seedlings to decades-old trees,…read moreHouse of Bonsai has lots to choose from. To your left when you've parked is a section dedicated to more traditional species like junipers and Chinese Elm - there's a gate with cowbells. Inside the warehouse on the right, there are supplies (akadama soil, wire, figurines) and outside there are many decorative stones, fountains, etc. There's even a robust selection of desert bonsai, some of which even I had never seen before - and I grew up visiting Cactus Center in Rosemead. If you choose to walk a little further - and I'd recommend bringing a hat or wearing a sun shirt if you do - you'll see some older specimens and even pomegranate trees in the nursery. It's helpful to come knowing approximately what you are looking for; I was searching for a more tropical species, ficus ginseng (microcarpa), but they did not carry it. Some reviewers mentioned not seeing prices listed clearly, but I didn't find this to be an issue with younger stock (see my photo for cotoneaster). For the older trees, I completely understand why they would be individually priced because it takes years to shape and grow. The reason this isn't a 5-star review is, and here I concur with others, the manager/owner is NOT known for her customer service (or rather, lack thereof). This is a missed opportunity because you have the ideal environment to share your passion for a beautiful art form with the public. I wandered into the warehouse and not a word or greeting in 5 minutes! Now, I returned on a Tuesday to purchase soil mix (after procuring aforementioned ficus ginseng) and the ladies present were nicer and at least had some smiles and hellos to offer.

Before I started talking to the lady at the counter, a sweet older lady close by was already telling me 'thank you for coming' which I found so endearing. The lady at the counter was very informative telling me everything I need to care for the bonsai. She didn't try to upsell or push me into buying more things but I definitely still did because I was just so excited. Overall amazing experience! I will be back for another tree, tools, classes, pots, and more!

We received four different estimates, all in a similar price range, but what set McLandscape apart was their exceptional customer service. The final result exceeded our expectations--we absolutely love our new backyard! A special shoutout to Leo, the foreman, who was a huge plus throughout the project. He was always available, responsive, and made sure everything ran smoothly. We highly recommend McLandscape to anyone looking for quality work and a team that truly cares about their clients.

I am fond of saying you can tell the quality of a company by how they respond when things go wrong…read more tl:dr; in the case of MC, the answer is not at all. Here are all the things that have gone wrong: I discovered the hardware they used for my lighting and my sprinkler were the base models, despite paying top doller. The owner lied on google maps claiming they put in a higher system. I posted pictures of the base models. No reply. I had to buy after market not so great adapters to get smart access to my lights and sprinklers. They put a chip in my pony wall while installing (years ago) and promised to come back to fix it. They never did. I recently found out from a neighbor who sees a part of my yard I normally don't that I have a sprinkler that is just pouring onto the walkway. That was a few days ago and I haven't had time to look at it. A good company would come out and fix it for me. Given how they haven't fixed anything else yet, I'll have to fix this myself or pay a reputable company to take a look. Half of my lights don't work. Again, I have zero hope that they will repair the lights. I had to replace nearly every plant they chose because it either didn't match my plans or because they weren't suited to the climate here and didn't survive (lest you blame me, every plant I chose to replace it with is thriving. How do you choose plants that can't survive in a region where everything survives?) The owner said on my google review that he had tried to reach me "several times" and I told him not to call.... I have been begging for them to make these things right for years.. I have had no calls. I figured out he was probably calling the wrong number and the person kept telling them that and finally said to stop calling. I sure as hell didn't say it. I would still like them to come fix the pony wall, the lighting, and the sprinklers, and make it right that I paid thousands for plants that had to be replaced within a year. Instead, they are resting on their mostly high reviews figuring mine will get buried and no one will care. Which is why I'm on yelp now as well as google. Here's what you can learn from the reviews. When things go right, MC is great. I do love the layout they created and the work by the actual workers. They were diligent and hard working. The price was high but fair given the amount of curved pavers I had in the plans, it seemed reasonable. (This is assuming there weren't so many problems.) But if you have an issue with them, good luck. Years of me leaving voicemails and reaching out to no avail. They knew about the pony wall before they even finished the project. There is ZERO excuse for not fixing that before they were done. Now years later, any work won't match well. I'm just livid at this company. 75 grand and this is how I've been treated. Unreal.
