I have dietary restrictions and can't eat bread or potatoes. They refused to let me have anything other than bread and potatoes. What a dump. I asked them they can't touch the other food and to put them on other plates and they at least did that. That's what earned them a single star. read more

I realize that mother's day is busy but when you wait for an hour for your food and someone come in and in 25 minutes get their food I think there is a problem. I had no problem waiting but I do have an issue with the kitchen not doing orders as received. Paid for my coffee and told them to cancel order. went here for breakfast on 11/11/24. I had the breakfast burrito and 1 pancake. Both were delicious. My burrito had the perfect crunch on the outside and my ingredients on the inside was perfect also. my husband had the cornbeef and hash. He said his eggs were cooked. Perfect just how he asked for them. The ladies came around with warm-ups for our coffee without us, even asking. They have done a beautiful job remodeling the place. read more

Went here while on a mini vacation with others who love the restaurant... however I would say it was mediocre at best. I ordered the fish fry and I'm giving 3 stars because it was crunch! The soup was also really good.... but the salad was browning and the fish overall was basically flavorless. Service was great as well, which is why I'm giving 3 stars. Pancakes were the worst I've ever had in my life. First, I don't know how they even served them to me. They were burnt- crispy and black on both sides. They tasted disgusting and I could only eat about 3 bites. Definitely do not recommend this "diner". read more

Good stuff but I probably wouldn't venture far past eggs, potatoes or pancakes here. That being said it was fine.

Thick tough fatty meat. It was made quickly (barely colored, cheese barely melted, a lot of meat on one side and a lot of kraut on the other). The dressing was darker in color with scant pickle. The mac salad is reportedly homemade with egg, celery and carrot, maybe a mayo and dressing blend? There was a general absence of salt and pepper. The staff were friendly on the phone and in person. I'm pretty sure the owner was at the counter sitting/supervising because he pointed out additional specials which was nice. He then went on to question the server about the amount of thousand island dressing they had left and if they would run out after I ordered extra on the side, as if I asked for an 8 oz container or something. After speaking to another patron he checked in on the kitchen staff, asking questions with the undertone of they should be moving quicker. The owner interaction with the staff made me uncomfortable as a patron, he wasn't overly aggressive but he also wasn't putting off a helpful supportive vibe. read more

My wife keeps telling me that she has had some good experiences at this place. She often comes here for lunch. So, when we go here for dinner I have high hopes is that my experience will be the same. It has not happened so far. I tried their garbage plate and it was pretty good! The hot sauce was nice and spicy and they had homemade patties instead of frozen. The Mac salad was homemade and not from a tub, which in my opinion makes The Politte much better. I also tried the tuna melt and it was average with the cheese not being fully melted. My biggest complaint for this place is by far the service. We have never had an attentive server while being here. I always have to flag down someone to get a refill and on my last trip, my fries were cold when they showed up and had to ask a third time for my replacement fries and they showed up after the check. read more

** EDIT ** After writing my original review, it put me in the mood for so I decided to go back for another Prime Rib special. The price is now $13.95 and an utter disappointment. My Prime Rib was raw (I mean blood oozing raw) when I ordered "medium". We were seated in the back room and literally forgotten about. After the waitress took our order, we did not see har again to refill beverages, bring rolls, etc. My sister-in-law and I ordered the prime rib special which is supposed to come with soup. I don't go back. Off night? - Maybe, but they won't get the chance to redeem themselves. ** I went to the Lakeside for the first time because my sister-in-law raved about the place. It happened to be a Saturday night in which they had a prime rib special for $9.95 so I figured I would give it a try, but I really didn't have high expectations for a diner-style restaurant. That all changed when the waitress brought me the dinner. It was a larger portion that I would have received at any other restaurant including some steak houses I have been to. I also ordered a loaded baked potato that was cooked to perfection, not under-cooked or overcooked and a side vegetable. The 4 of us in my family ate for the price I would normally pay for the prime rib alone. Everyone in our party was satisfied with their meals. My nephew got a "Sky-burger" that was bigger and less expensive than a fast food burger. My daughter could only eat 1/2 of her sandwich wrap because it was too big. The staff were all friendly and invited us to come back and see them again. Don't let the outside appearance fool you, it doesn't look like much from the outside but the inside is much larger than it appears - I think if you are looking for good food with good value then the Lakeside Restaurant is worth checking out. Wife and I were out for a drive on a Friday afternoon and stopped here for lunch. Wife got the taco salad and I ordered the chef salad. Both salads were enormous. The wife's taco salad came in a freshly cooked taco bowl. She absolutely loved it. My salad was equally delicious. The waitress was pleasant and attentive. Great diner to enjoy good homemade food. Their soups have been consistently excellent - I always try to make sure my meal includes a cup of soup. Sometimes the soup and salad are so filling that I just pack my main meal for the next day. The prices are really great and the portions are big enough to enjoy for lunch the next day. Had eggs over easy they were like SOUP and then asked for hash browns got two frozen hash browns like they serve at McDonald's thrown on a plate . Definitely not what I expected and when I didn't eat the food and commented that the eggs were too runny she took $2 off. This is how you lose costumers. The good! The staff is friendly and attentive. The restaurant is clean. The Bad! Food is nothing to write home about and very over priced. Orders come out wrong most of the time and not consistent. Mom and Pop owners are rude and nasty to their staff and customers, The lady owner looks miserable and stand with her arms crossed at the register and nit pics every little thing. I've been to Lakeside for breakfast more times than I can count on my fingers and toes and have always walked away satisfied. I've tried everything from their staple bacon and eggs to their specialty Breakfast Quesadilla (which I HIGHLY recommend!) and it's almost all wonderful. The only complaint I have is that their lunches are only so-so and their homefries are a bit on the mushy side, but thankfully they serve breakfast all day! I've driven by this restaurant for years and thought I would give it a try. Arrived on a Saturday afternoon around 1 p.m. And there were approximately 12 people seated and eating. We decided to take table at the far end of the restaurant not near the door because it was 5 degrees outside. My first impression was that it is a very small diner but seemed homie. Our waitress arrived at our table about 3 minutes after we sat down. Without even saying hello she dropped off the menus and said I'll be back in a few minutes I'm busy here today. The menu seemed quite fitting for it being a diner nothing special was identified. When she did return I ordered a large Diet Coke and cheeseburger with french fries. When our meals arrived the requested toppings on my cheeseburger we're missing such as lettuce and tomato. I mentioned this to the waitress and she brought it to the table on a separate plate leaving me to dress my cheeseburger. The lettuce I'm just guessing its been sitting out for hours and don't get me started on the tomato! The French fries finally arrived and they were lukewarm and I can honestly say not many of them. Remember I mentioned earlier that the waitress stated that she was busy not so much she had multiple times to check her phone and neglect the services of other patrons as I observed. Took me three times to get her attention finally get our check and she seemed put off when she actually had to perform her job, I'm usually not this critical but if it walks like a duck quacks like a duck well you know the rest. OK, I have been going there since the new ownership. I really liked it and want up to 3-4 times per week. Well the service has declined. The waitress last night treated me like I was bothering her when I was ordering. The soups were a bit different so I asked if I could have apple sauce like I had done many times before. Response was we don't usually do that. Well needless to say, the piece of prime rib looked like a small piece of roast beef. No drippings. A few fried and apple sauce with cinnamon on it. (Well I am allergic and with everything else, I just left it. Never before I had it added). Needless to say, that was the last shot. I will take my business elsewhere read more

Small, hometown, old-fashioned feel inside. Waitress was friendly and nice. Because I purchased an $11 meal, the $4 kids meal was free. My french fries came on someone else's plate & waitress just laughed it off. My daughter's drink never came, neither did the dressing for her chicken strips. Then, my main pasta dish was so terrible I was unable to eat it. By the time the waitress came to ask how the meal was, everyone else was entirely finished. When I told her it was not good, she laughed it off and started picking up plates. Mine was a completely full plate overflowing with pasta. She asked if she could take my plate, and that's when things got unbelievable. I had to tell her I wouldn't pay for the pasta b/c it was too terrible to eat (others tried it and agreed). After much prompting, she agreed not to charge us for it. Then she said we had to pay for the $4 kids meal b/c it "wouldn't be fair to get 2 free meals." I had to point out I actually didn't get ANY free meal, because my entire plate of food was sitting there and about to get tossed in the trash. They should've thrown in the $4 kids meal as a courtesy for the fact I went to what I thought would be a nice dinner out with a group of people, and wound up sitting there starving, and left starving. I was unable to order another dish because everyone else would've had to sit there waiting for (1) it to be cooked, and (2) me to eat it. That nightmare should've been worth the restaurant complimenting the $4 meal. In the end, they will lose more than a $4 kiddie meal, because they have lost my business.
