I love this groomer - relocated to Plano area and I tried a couple of different groomers before finding lakeside. The customer service is great, my dogs are very comfortable which is saying a lot because one of them can be quite fussy with being groomed. They aren't kenneled and when I pick them up they are happy as can be! Be forewarned. I have taken my dog there several times and was generally happy. I was a bit concerned because they never asked for proof of her vaccinations. I keep her well-vaccinated so I figured it wasn't a problem. Until it was. A week after the last groom at Lakeside, my dog came down with bordatella aka kennel cough. The vet asked if she had been boarded or groomed about a week prior. I never board her, and the only time she had been around other dogs was at Lakeside. My vet told me that's got to be where she contracted it. He said that a bordatella vaccine is like a flu shot: it doesn't protect all dogs, but it helps if they're exposed. $150, three sleepless nights, and much discomfort layer, my dog recovered. I contacted Lakeside with a voice mail and detailed email about what had happened. No response for 4 weeks. Then I receive an email telling me it's time to bring her back to be groomed again. Not happening. There seems to be quite a turnover of staff there, no manager on site, and nobody in management to be accountable. That's too bad. I really wanted to like this place. 8/13/19 - I was a customer for about a year, and I left a voice mail (not an email - my bad) when this happened. I didn't get a reply and then I posted the above review. After it was posted, I got a message from Lakeside that was rude. It was written in an angry tone and made demands. They demanded I give them a lot of information, and it made me nervous. I will look for that message and will post it if I can find it. Like I said before, my concern was that they did not ask for proof of vaccinations, and my dog came down with kennel cough 7 days after being groomed. That had slipped my mind until the veterinarian asked me. My dog had not been out of the house or around any other dogs this summer. Read the tone of the owner's reply: it's angry and accusational. He wants the name of my vet for what? To harass him? I haven't researched it, but I bet you can Google it and see there's scientific data to back up what my vet said. As I said before, their grooming is fine. But the kennel cough incident cost me hundreds of dollars due to a side effect of the medication. I'm not asking them for anything. I've only written 1 other review. It was for my California vet - I'm very picky about my pets! Ms Kay is a top-notch groomer. She is the best groomer I've ever brought Woodie too. Everyone is super nice and the shop is clean. What's amazing is that they even remembered Woodie when I set up today's appointment - it's only the 2nd time he'll be visiting them!! I was so worried about leaving my cats--two adults and six kittens--somewhere for hours, especially after checking out a couple of other local groomers and seeing the set-ups and the atmosphere; this place was heaven, by comparison to some.... The atmosphere here was calm and peaceful--no walls lined with grooming tables and cages full of waiting animals, here-- and the employees were very friendly and helpful. My cats were calm and relaxed both when I left them AND when I picked them up. (And believe me, they were NOT calm or relaxed on the way there....) Let me start off by stating, historically, I have had a good experience with this groomer and they have done a good job on my dog. My mother also has two dogs and referred me to this place, they do a good job on her dogs too. However, I feel the need to share my most recent and probably last experience. I called as usual to make an appointment. I didn't specify a groomer as I have never had an issues. When I showed up, a groomer I had never seen before came out. She was nice and I always like to double check they have my cell phone on hand, so she writes the number down to ensure the right number is listed to call when my dog is ready. 2 hours later, I get a phone call stating my dog is ready. I show up, he's not ready. She apologizes and states she called about the wrong dog being ready. Not the end of the world, mistakes happen. She tells me my dog will be ready in about an hour. THREE hours pass, no call, so I call and they say, give us 15 more minutes. I give them 30, and when I show up, I was mortified ... The manager Josh who I have spoken to several times says hello and jokingly says "He's still not ready" and then walks off. I wait a few minutes and the groomer comes out crying, holding my dog, and states "I cut his nose." I look at my poor dog who looks scared and he has a bloody crusty nose. The groomer proceeds to tell me poked his nose with the sissors (they were open, so he has two cuts) and they states "we finally got it to stop bleeding a while ago." She then hands be a bottle of liquid bandage (like superglue for your skin) and states they put that on there. My dog was there almost FOUR hours after the first time I had stopped by and no one could call me to say what happened? No one could have called to say we injured your dog, would you like us to call the vet, would you like to come and pick him up, etc. Nothing. I was really upset by this. All of the groomers are in one room at this place and the groomer was crying, stating "finally got it to stop bleeding" implying this had gone on for a while. There's no way the manager didn't know what happened and I'm upset no one called me. I will say the groomer was remorseful. I know she didn't mean to do it, but still there's no excuse for her or the manager not to notify a customer they hurt your pet and to ask how you would like to proceed. So we get home, my dog goes to drink some water and not surprisingly, his nose starts gushing out blood. I was extra annoyed because at this point, its late in the day and no vet is open except the emergency vet. I did call the manager to get more information x 2. No call back. It turns out he did call but he called my mom's phone! She told me a few days later. So they can call the right number for me to show up when my dog wasn't ready, but no one can call when they cut up his nose, and they return calls to the wrong number and person all together. Usually takes at least 4 hours before I get a call from other groomers to pick up my 2 small dogs so when I got a call in less then 2 I was scared of what I would see upon arriving. To my total shock they looked PERFECT!!! I was late getting there and when I called frantic I was told to just calm down as they would just see me when I safely got there...don't rush! How sweet! As the gentleman was checking someone out a young woman came and got the dogs and the groomer asked me what I wanted in detail(basic puppy cuts, don't tip the ears and not too close on the westies butt as she is sensitive). My instructions were followed to a T! They even put the cutest little tie on my boy and bow on my girl. Not the cheesy kind most places do! COMPLETELY RUDE MANAGER! DO NOT TAKE YOUR PET HERE!!!! We took our dog here a few times and had an appointment for an express cut today. We usually sit and wait for our dog while she's being groomed because she gets separation anxiety when we are not around. The manager told us that we can't wait for our dog in the seating area because it would make the other dogs there go crazy and would make her job harder. She told us we could go outside and wait for her. Wait outside in the 100 degree heat?! Are you crazy?! The lady who was going to cut our dogs hair was mortified by the managers behavior and I could tell she was very uncomfortable with the situation as well. Learn how to treat your customers!! This isn't how you run a business in America! Learn!! Why would you have two chairs sitting up front if you don't allow your customers to wait for their pet?? What kind of shady behavior do you do behind closed doors that you don't want us there to witness?? This place should be put out of business! First, I have to say that I rarely leave a Yelp review. Second, I cannot think of a better place to leave a perfect 5 star review. I contacted them last minute, past the hours of operation. I was desperate. My American Bulldog was a mess and needed more than I could do it yourself place. They told me to come on over an HOUR after they closed! They not only took Charlie and cleaned him up in record time, but they treated him like a part of their family! They treated ME like part of their family! Fantastic Mom and Pop shop that is clean, willing to go beyond regular service expectations, and does a miraculous job! They even gave him a free medicated bath and bow tie! And not once did they rush me, make me feel rushed, or even feel bad for keeping them open hours after they officially closed. Charlie and I will be back and stay for good! read more

They always find time to take care of my babies, even if it's last minute. $10 nail trims, fast and friendly service and they do a really wonderful job. (I'm very picky about nail trims too!) These folks are spectacular and unlike other locations where our two golden retriever sisters are often times caged while they await their turn, Lakeside Pet Groomers allows those in the "waiting area" to mingle and get comfortable with the surroundings. Every one is professional, courteous, caring, responsive and clearly competent in handling our pets in such a wonderful fashion. With this summer heat upon us, the grooming of our two 8 year olds is important in keeping them cool, comfortable and smell free. It's hard to find a good cat groomer -- we find one somewhere who does a good job and the next time we try to make an appointment, they're gone. I hope this place stays around. They did a great job on our DLH cat. The place is terribly NOISY. It stressed me out. They need some foam insulation in the ceiling. They are expensive, but they didn't add on a lot of bogus fees like PetSmart does and they don't charge extra to get your pet out in a reasonable amount of time. My dog has a history of being rejected by many groomers such as petsmart and petco due to his terrible anxiety however these guys knew how to handle my dog with care and were able to get the job done. We take our dog here who isn't the fondest of the grooms. And they are so sweet! I accidentally called the owners cell phone and he was so professional and sweet. We used to love this place but it has gone very downhill over the past 6 months. Expect to have a new groomer every time as the work environment is causing high turnover rates. Our regular groomer at Lakeside left the studio so we tried different groomers at the salon for a few months. Our dog never came home looking quite right during those months even though we would send pictures of her prior groomings to replicate. We had been coming to this studio for over a year and had a routine that everyone was aware of: drop her off in the morning, she would get groomed with special skin sensitive shampoo we would leave at the groomers, and we'd pick her up at the end of the day. Every single time we picked her up after our regular groomer left they would say "oh we thought she wasn't going to be picked up! We didn't know where you were!" Even though we would remind them in the morning every time that she stays all day. Also, a few times she didn't get her special shampoo used on her and she was itchy after as a result. All of this obvious lack of communication between staff was of course frustrating but what sealed the deal for us to stop taking our dog is the past couple of times we noticed that our dog would start TREMBLING as we passed her off to be groomed. Our dog is very sweet, friendly and happy towards everyone including complete strangers so for her to have been so visibly fearful makes my heart hurt. I don't know if anything in particular happened to her but I do know she was undeniably not happy to be there like she once had been. While I hope it turns around, I would not recommend what this grooming salon has become. read more

We have used Ms. Kay for our three Maine Coon cats. She is the best in the business! Two others refused to groom our 16 year-old cat a second time without sedation. Ms. Kay, however, has such a calming influence that our old cat doesn't need to be sedated & purrs for days after his "spa day." We feel so fortunate to have found Lakeside Pet Groomers. By the way, it takes me 45 minutes to an hour, depending on traffic, to get to Lakeside. I should have posted this review couple of months back, but, better late than never! We had been using this place ever since we got our Labradoodle last year. They did a decent job most times. Then in December, our dog came back and had an ear infection. Not only was he up all night for a few days, but also we had to spend $70 on his antibiotics! This is after we spent $90 every time we got him groomed. I let it pass thinking it was a busy time of the year. Then again 1.5-2 months back, he ended up with an ear infection after grooming. We again spent $70 on antibiotics. This time I did call Lakeside Groomers and let them know. I spoke with Joshua and asked him to let Stuart, the owner know and also call me back. Forget any discounts or refunds, I didn't even get a call for apology! This is definitely not the customer service one expects after spending $90 every month. Took my three dogs to them. I was very impressed due to they were all rescues and have some special needs I was worried but ms Kay and Stuart were great with them. They got washed groomed and treats!
