The park area offers lush green grass and plenty of places for a picnic and such. As for the lakes, there are plenty of bird species that live there, like geese, heron, pelican, egrets, and more. I observed several families fish there as well. The butterfly garden was new to me. There's a boathouse that can be rented for special occasions, a softball field and skate park nearby, and a children's playground at the park. I read that they plan to continue to improve the park over the next few years. There's a good amount of parking available.

He was really sweet with the kids and let them ask all 364 questions before starting the hike. We took a 3.5 mile hike. I can't remember the name of the path. Surprisingly most of the kids did pretty well. Little complaints were vocalized at the steeper parts. After we got back down, we had lunch and he brought out a cute little turtle for everyone to meet. The kids also got to play on the playground while we waited for our bus to return. Loved that it wasn't crowded like a field trip to the Zoo or Seaworld.

Most of the sites are completely barren with dead grass and bushes, and the view is primarily dead-brush-covered hills with the occasional view of the city below. The campsites are raised on a hill so the lake is barely visible. Even if it is, you are not allowed to interact with it except for fishing, so there is hardly a point. The sun relentlessly beats down on the ground, with the only shade being from sparse trees. The only reason this is not a zero star review (besides the app not allowing it) is for the staff, who were polite and very helpful. Never again.

We make the short drive up on Wednesday and spend the night before heading back home mid Thanksgiving morning. It is always a lot of fun. Bex family all love fishing and the lake provides ample opportunity. Stocked regularly with trout. They all caught their share. The spots are spacious. The staff are always friendly and helpful. The facilities and the grounds are clean and maintained. Prices are very reasonable. Besides camping, Lake Jennings offers boating (you can rent a boat or bring your own), hiking. There's on-site horseshoe pits too. If not camping, you can just spend the day if you want to. Lots of great picnic areas. We've always loved Lake Jennings. It was our favorite campground when we had our RV. We look forward to getting back into camping.

However, during our visit yesterday, we encountered several situations that significantly detracted from our experience and raised concerns regarding safety and park regulations. While walking along one of the trails, particularly towards the end, we observed a large group of individuals from foreign country spreading throughout the area. Concurrently, we noticed a distinct and pervasive odor of cannabis. Further along the path, my family and I also observed three men gathered near a rock formation up the hill. As we were returning from our walk, we witnessed an individual openly smoking a cigarette. We understand that smoking is generally prohibited in public park areas, especially given the presence of families and children. Additionally, as my children were enjoying their scooters near the path, a vehicle approached at what appeared to be excessive speed, estimated around 30 mph, without slowing down. This incident was particularly alarming as it created an immediate safety concern for my children and other park users. Collectively, these incidents led us to feel a degree of discomfort and concern for our family's safety, prompting us to conclude our visit earlier than planned. I wanted to bring these matters to your attention in the hope that appropriate measures can be considered to ensure the park remains a safe and enjoyable environment for all visitors. My impressions of this River Park was that it is under development or has been under neglect. When…read moreyou pull in you are automatically on a dirt road and dirt parking lot. There are several manufacturing buildings scattered around, some newer than others with concrete sidewalks around their perimeters. The place a preserved wetland. There's a dirt trail along the 67 south that leads to a well pump station and another trail to the north east that leads to the base of the San Diego River Trail or "Walker Preserve," but the path that leads up to the trail was gated and locked from the river park. There's definitely some work being done here. I did not see anyone around when I first arrived, but when I left to go, I did see a man filling sand bags near a pile of sand.

The park offers a lot of great shaded area with mature oaks and picnic tables. It has a natural stream "Los Coches Creek" that runs through the park. There are restrooms spread about the park near the picnic areas and such. The park has a wedding gazebo available for reservations, playgrounds, a ball field, trails for hiking, and a ranger station. I visited the rangers to thank them for keeping the park in such great condition. They were very friendly. There's plenty of bird watching available and several good parking lots. There is a $5 fee for parking at the park. I did observe one EV charging station. It's a beautiful park.

I actually discovered Kennedy Park completely by mistake while I was on my way to a patient's…read morehouse. I feel like I've been in this area several times and somehow never noticed this park! I was pleasantly surprised by how much shade there is, how green everything looked, and how clean the entire area was. Since I had a break, I decided to take advantage of the beautiful morning and get a few steps in on my Apple Watch. One of my favorite things about this park is the walking path that goes around the park. That is super dope because you can actually get your steps in without having to walk through the grass. And honestly, that matters to me because I'm always hoping I don't accidentally step in dog poop! Surprisingly, every dog I saw was on a leash, and the owners appeared to be responsible and caring. I didn't see any dog poop left behind on the grass, which is a huge win because nothing irritates me more than people who don't clean up after their pets. This also seems like a great little spot to simply sit in your car and chart, gather your thoughts, or just enjoy some quiet time. I'm not sure what the atmosphere is like in the evening, but in the morning, this park is really nice! It's clean, peaceful, shaded, and has a great little walking area. Sometimes you find the best places completely by accident, and I'm glad this was one of those discoveries!
