I actually discovered Kennedy Park completely by mistake while I was on my way to a patient's house. I feel like I've been in this area several times and somehow never noticed this park! I was pleasantly surprised by how much shade there is, how green everything looked, and how clean the entire area was. Since I had a break, I decided to take advantage of the beautiful morning and get a few steps in on my Apple Watch. One of my favorite things about this park is the walking path that goes around the park. That is super dope because you can actually get your steps in without having to walk through the grass. And honestly, that matters to me because I'm always hoping I don't accidentally step in dog poop! Surprisingly, every dog I saw was on a leash, and the owners appeared to be responsible and caring. I didn't see any dog poop left behind on the grass, which is a huge win because nothing irritates me more than people who don't clean up after their pets. This also seems like a great little spot to simply sit in your car and chart, gather your thoughts, or just enjoy some quiet time. I'm not sure what the atmosphere is like in the evening, but in the morning, this park is really nice! It's clean, peaceful, shaded, and has a great little walking area. Sometimes you find the best places completely by accident, and I'm glad this was one of those discoveries! read more

One trip to Kennedy Park and you may never return to Wells Park. Especially if you appreciate a clean well maintained private restroom. Kennedy Park has a shaded picnic area with 8 tables there's 3 hot coal receptacles suggesting barbeques are welcome, but you'll have to bring your own grill .There are lots of benches throughout the park some in the sun and some in the shade. I saw several groups of kids playing soccer. They have a play structure that kids seemed to enjoy. I saw walkers, joggers, people sitting on the share, some reading some reflecting some relaxing and one man enjoying a late breakfast, wait, that was me. I had a nice relaxing visit ,eating my breakfast and people watching This is a good park to visit in El Cajon. read more

Went today monday morning to skate and its closed. Some bs. Why is it only open after 4 pm ?? Super bummed out it looks fun too.

So dissapointed. Saw this park had 4 stars a shaded playground and swings. The swings was the most important. Well the swings C are gone structure is broken and shade is mon existent. There is soooo much trash everywhere so im thinking there is no maintenance for this place. It kind of made me sad to bring my three year old here after hyping it up. Never again unless the city fixes a lot. Bad job el cajon! read more

I go to Kennedy Park often now. Never crowded, very clean. Good parking available and clean bathrooms. It's never overrun with dogs, but a good walking area with lots of shade and good picnic tables and playground equipment. read more

Kennedy Park was one of the most energetic places I have visited with someone. I saw many teenagers skateboarding in the concrete bowls and ramps and they all looked confident and happy. The atmosphere felt bold and expressive with the sound of wheels, music, and excited voices. Teenagers would love how free and creative it feels because they can practice tricks and express themselves. The service was simple and smooth with clean areas and clear signs. The value was great because the park was open and accessible. The quality of the skate areas was impressive and everything felt sturdy and well designed. The selection of ramps, bowls, and jumps gave teenagers many ways to challenge themselves. I have only been there once before writing this review but it was one of the most thrilling places I have visited. I highly recommend that teenagers go there because it gives them a chance to be bold, expressive, and proud of their skills. read more

This is one of the cleanest and most peaceful parks in El Cajon! You can come here for a walk, quality time with family, fun time with kids at the playground and there's a skate park! I love how quiet it is here. It's such a big park that there could be 3 birthday parties going on, but you'd still be able to hear the person next to you. They do have grills and numerous tables and benches available here. The bathrooms are cleaned regularly and they keep the park fairly well maintained. I definitely recommend this park over others in El Cajon. read more

I love how green the park is!! So relaxing here without a lot of people screaming and running around. There are two birthday parties, possibly a graduation event happening. Baseball players are practicing, few people are playing racket ball. The weather is perfect to be out side today everyone should practice mindfulness and when the park and weather is like it is it's easier to do so. read more

Acceptable parking and cleanliness. I would go again. homeless not a problem. But there are some nearby. Water fountain works as well sas bathroom though they are typical park bathrooms. worth a visit and see what you see do some people watching and have a decent time. Try a few places in the area and see if you want to return. Overall a nice experience though not in the stellar range. El cajon is a good place though not as nice as it was 35 years ago. Santee maybe better? Santee lakes? read more

My daughter comes here for her gymnastics class. The instructors work for the Rec center system so she's had the same instructors at different facilities. The inside looks a little dated, but it works and has great air flow so the kids don't get super hot or cold. The building looks like a replica of the Hillside Park building. This Saturday we came a little early to play on the structure. It is a smaller structure, but it's new and very clean. The best part is all the fields of grass, with tall trees and ample shade. There is also a sweet skate park which was a fantastic surprise! I gave four stars because you can literally come and play, have a picnic, and spend a good part of the day without wanting to leave. I haven't been here at night, so I'm not sure of the social climate then... read more

I love, love, love me some Kennedy Park as does the fur baby. I've been here at literally almost every time period. Early A.M. (3 - 4am) late A.M (9am - 11am) evening 4pm - 10pm even laaaaate night (12am - 2am). Not had a issue. It seems to be a very safe neighborhood. The park is across from Granite Hills H.S. Surrounding area are nice residential homes. I notice the police drive by quite a bit late at night which is great!!! Had one come into the park to make sure I was ok. Wow, that was super sweet. Loads of grass and a nice little "trail" going around both the exterior and interior of the park which is nice. A public restroom, not porta p's. A small playground for the Kiddos. Picnic benches, grills, beautiful baseball fields, tennis courts. I could go on and on. Parking is free. Omg!!! Hello! A skate park!!!! Im not a skater but it looks like the kids are having fun and enjoying it. Have fun!!!!! read more

Great park. Kept well. Looks like it's always used as well. Kids and families having fun throughout the whole park. Lots of shade to cool off too. Nice paved walking path and a ball field. read more

Great big grassy areas perfect to lay around and enjoy the nice weather. A swing set for babies. The playground seems like a better fit for the big kids, and there is a skate park too. Tables are around the area of you plan on brining lunch. It's a great park the whole family can enjoy. I've seen dogs in the area as well, so bring your furry friends too! Overall great park for the little ones to enjoy! read more

Kennedy Park - Picture of the playground and grassy area. - Parks Near Me - El Cajon, California

Love this park for the shaded walking path. There is plenty of lush grass to lay out a blanket and have a picnic as well. The playground is small but there are a couple of swings and our daughter likes to end the walk by using one of them. There is also a skate park, baseball/softball diamond, BBQ areas, and bathrooms. We didn't use the bathrooms so I can't comment on the cleanliness. We live in Jamul and this is our favorite park in El Cajon/Rancho San Diego mostly because of the shade. East County is hot and we have to limit the time spent in other parks in this area due to lack of shade. The only reason I give 4 stars is the lack of parking lot space. I didn't see any at all. Every time we go, we have to park on the street. read more

Oh...so...many...memories!!! Growing up in El Cajon, going to elementary school at Madison, middle school at Montgomery, and high school at Granite Hills, this park was ALWAYS in my sights throughout all of these years. (That's 13 years including kindergarten!!) Fourth of July's, picnics and get togethers with family, field trips during school, ditching class, or just having a nice and relaxing time at a park, this park was always at my number 1. I remember leaving middle school and walking over to the rec center to play basketball or play pool in the little room they had. The reason is gets only 3 stars is due to the lack of organization of their schedule and lack of free time given for people to use the basketball court for fun. Also, another negative of this place is that it is very dirty around the rec center, and it seems like there are always weird things going on around the area as well. No matter what though, this place is a landmark in my eyes, it was always the park that was for me while growing up. read more

i've been going to kennedy park since i was a kid. dance class, 4th of july fireworks, tennis...i have a lot of summer day memories there...i used to take my skateboard and ride around for hours. there's a great length of sidewalk winding through and around the entire park, which is a bit bigger than a city block. there's lots of grass where we play badminton and frisbee..and cook chili and hotdogs. it's a nice place to picnic, it's not too busy but it's clean and well-kept. its perfect for a lazy walk. its a breath of fresh air. read more

My daughter plays soccer here during the week and it's a decent park, but very lacking in the parking and the amount of space for the kids to play a full game. The lighting is also pretty scarce, so you kids need to be careful after dark. The grounds a well kept though and it appears to be a safe place to hang out. read more

For the skaters out there great park you have to sign up and pay a fee and wear all the pads so be prepared for that but overall its a good park good 8 stairs and a bunch bowls and rails its in a small area. But overall its a great skatepark where you can express your moves ive came into a little argument with some kids scootering who were rude but overall the neighborhood locals who go are pleasant to talk to and usually nice read more
