This lake is so cute and full of critters. Love how peaceful it is beyond the noises of all the birds. It has a skate park and clean bathrooms and a workout area. Cool under the trees but hot most of the year due to the areas climate. People of all ages come here. Very safe area. Enjoy the pics.

When in town, I wanted to get out and take a walk. A family friend of mine brought me to Lindo Lake County Park, which was one of the only parks open at the time (early COVID). We started walking through the park when I noticed these little white birds that looked like cranes making the craziest calls to one another. I could only imagine what they were talking about, but it kept us laughing. We took a few laps around the bodies of water and the park, while I was admiring the birds and we were able to get some exercise while observing a social distance from others. This is a really pretty park, very clean and well maintained.

A rare bird I have never seen

I was fishing at Lindo Lake yesterday and found this on my hook when I reeled it in. Anyone know what it is?

Great Lake for fishing for carp and catfish with kids! Lake looks beautiful with renovation!

I used to come here everyday and push the stroller with my baby girl around the circumference of Lindo Lake. Afterwards we would feed the ducks, geese and various water fowl. The birds would encircle the stroller but never one of them tried to peck or hurt my daughter. On the contrary, they seemed very aware and curious about this tiny person. Today the lake has some new additions; the skate board area and athletic area. The children's play area has a swing set, slides and numerous picnic tables. A large gazebo sits nearby and is a great place to celebrate birthdays. My daughter celebrated turning 2 years old here, in 2002. Time sure fly's by. Lakeside was founded in 1886 when 6,600 acres of land surrounding the naturally occurring Lindo Lake were purchased by the El Cajon Valley Land Company, who immediately began to promote the new land as a town and built an 80-room Victorian-style inn, the Lakeside Hotel. In 1904, John H. Gay bought the Lakeside Hotel and fenced off the park surrounding Lindo Lake, claiming both as part of his estate. He then proceeded to construct an automobile and horse racetrack around the lake, which became famous when Barney Oldfield set a new land speed record when visiting for the track's opening in 1907. In 1916 a number of townspeople, led by John Beadle and Bill Kuhner, petitioned the county to regain use of the park and lake for the general public. A suit was filed, and after a lengthy court trial, Judge C. H. Andrews ruled that the park and the lake were public property. It was returned to the county and rededicated in 1920. Since 1924, the county has maintained the lake and its grounds. Gay's widow sold the Inn to C. A. Judson in 1920 with the stipulation that it be demolished. In the same year, Judson demolished the Inn and donated nine and a half acres to Lindo Lake and Park making the total area 54 1/2 acres. Adding to the natural growth of the park, John Beadle planted many of the trees. These trees consisted of peppers, Australian oaks, locuts, tamaracks, willows, eucalytus, pines and cottonwoods. John's son Wesley was officially make caretaker of the Park in 1932. Lakeside Historical Society.

The paths around the lake were clean and it was nice seeing all the wildlife (geese, ducks, & squirrels). The parking lots were closed due to coronavirus, but you can park by the sidewalks. We rarely saw any homeless people at the park which was nice. Overall, great place to walk on a sunny day.

Took my grandbaby here for the afternoon and it was really great. The park starts at the corner of Vine and Lakeshore in Lakeside. However the actual playground and equipment are completely on the other side so it was a ways away. There are parking lots closer if u choose. I put my grandbaby in the stroller for the walk and he was relatively happy since there was so much to see. There are lots of animals... squirrels and baby squirrels, geese and baby geese, ducks, and all kinds of other waterfowl. There were actually quite a few birds I've never seen in my entire life which was really cool. I brought Goldfish crackers and several of the squirrels came up and took them right from my fingers very gently. It was awesome. There is a skatepark, a clubhouse, workout equipment, plenty of restrooms, tons of picnic tables and pretty much everything you need at a park. We will def go back.

Lets go fly a kite!

I LOVE THIS PLACE! It is huge, there are so many things to do. At night there is ample lighting. Nice walkways. Kiddos loved the ducks. We were able to fly both their kites. Come here at night to walk the dog and it is very peaceful. I love Lindo!

They need to help the lake. Put more water in it to make it less green. Its at its lowest. Not many ducks. They must of relocated some of them. Didn't see any mud ducks today.

When I got out of my car this bird landed in a nearby tree.

The skate park is awesome. However, it needs to be monitored more. Too many kids cussing. Too many kids trying to start fights.

The fish cleaning area and sink were spotless. Trash on the ground or in the water was a rare sight to see. For $58 a night, it was a great value. I had a nice view of the lake, too. After I checked-in and set up the campsite, with my tent, and a small camping table, I rented a rowboat for $25, good for five hours, so that I could go fishing. The walk between the campground and boat rental dock is about 25 minutes each way if you're using the shorter route. The lake itself is very clean. Though I would not drink the water from Lake Jennings without a water filter, out of curiosity, I did put some of Lake Jennings' water into an empty water bottle to see how clear the water is. To my surprise, the water is completely clear! While I was sitting in the rowboat, I noticed lots of different birds--bluebirds, coots, ducks, geese, grebes, hawks, herons, hummingbirds, osprey, sparrows, vultures, woodpeckers, a few others I wasn't sure what they were. Anyway, after the first hour of having my rod cast, I didn't think I would catch anything and began to lose hope. However, as the afternoon started to cool, under the mature trees, off the shoreline, just opposite west of the rental dock, my fishing line started to pull. I quickly reeled the line in and realized that this was a pretty big fish. I dipped my net into the water, to get the fish into the boat. I used my handheld fish scale and the catfish weighed just over eight pounds!! (I used homemade bait made up of oatmeal and fresh garlic, rolled up in a peanut butter ball, that I prepared the night before. Also, the line was about 15 feet under water.) After I caught the one fish, I returned the boat, and went back to the campsite to clean and cook it. I cooked the fish using a portable camping grill grate--with a bit of olive oil, a liberal amount of fresh herbs (oregano, parsley, thyme, diced garlic, and Hungarian sweet paprika), and lemon--over an open fire, in the fire ring, that they have in each campsite. I used Lucela mesquite charcoal to fuel the campfire. The catfish was high quality and delicious--easily the best catfish that I have tasted, in my life, to date. At night, the campground was completely quiet, even on a weekend night. The night sky was nice, too. However, the lake's management is strict about having all campfires extinguished by 11:00 PM. The next morning, I had planned to cook breakfast, but decided to sleep in. At about 11:30 AM, I checked out. Checkout time is before 12:00 PM (noon). Overall, this was a perfect little one-night trip. Hopefully, I will return in the future. If I ever do come back, I'll probably make it a two-night trip, so that I can explore more of the lake, and maybe aim to catch a crappie, sunfish, or trout.

We generally find the park to be a wonderful amenity, and we deeply appreciate its natural beauty. However, during our visit yesterday, we encountered several situations that significantly detracted from our experience and raised concerns regarding safety and park regulations. While walking along one of the trails, particularly towards the end, we observed a large group of individuals from foreign country spreading throughout the area. Concurrently, we noticed a distinct and pervasive odor of cannabis. Further along the path, my family and I also observed three men gathered near a rock formation up the hill. As we were returning from our walk, we witnessed an individual openly smoking a cigarette. We understand that smoking is generally prohibited in public park areas, especially given the presence of families and children. Additionally, as my children were enjoying their scooters near the path, a vehicle approached at what appeared to be excessive speed, estimated around 30 mph, without slowing down. This incident was particularly alarming as it created an immediate safety concern for my children and other park users. Collectively, these incidents led us to feel a degree of discomfort and concern for our family's safety, prompting us to conclude our visit earlier than planned. I wanted to bring these matters to your attention in the hope that appropriate measures can be considered to ensure the park remains a safe and enjoyable environment for all visitors. Thank you for your time and consideration.
