It's a fun little place. If you didn't know, it's candlestick bowling, which is really weird if you've only done regular bowling. It's still fun and honestly is a lot nicer on your shoulders because you don't have to sling a 16-pound ball. But we went on a weekday and there were a few people there. Everyone really got along with everyone else. Yeah, the don't have food, but in case you missed it: this is a bowling alley. They have alleys and they have bowling balls, which is the important part. Yeah, it's not new and shiny. But is anyone actually building bowling alleys any more? It's a decent place if you want to try out some candlepin bowling. read more

Horrible! Went there with the grandkids for a rainy day activity and regretted it within 10 mins. A big, gruff guy finally stopped doing paperwork long enough to give us shoes and take my money. They don't sell food (only a vending machine) and even though they have bumpers available, it's not kid friendly at all. The place is very run down and it was dead but we were yelled at because my 3 yr old wondered to the next lane over (that no one was using) The 4 of us didn't even finish one string and decided to leave to get actual food and was charged $25 .. wow! :O Lesson learned. read more

This wasn't the best bowling alley we have been to. We usually go to the alley in Salem but that got closed so we went here it was a nice retro vibe and nice seats but that's it. Staff was rude the second we walked in and they were very strict about all of their rules. They did not like drinks anywhere near the bowling balls and they did not want anyone to have there shoes anywhere near the seats which made some people who didn't want to play have to completely sit out of the rest of the group. The only reason this isn't 1 star is because we had fun bowling which is all that matters definitely not the best alley I have been to and not the best in the area staff should change their attitude and some of the rules shouldn't be so strict. read more

a group of us came for bowl for glow a few weeks ago. Big man at the counter came across as very grumpy and snapped at my husband when he couldn't understand him About bumpers. The young lady at the counter with him made up for his lack of happiness and was quite friendly and polite to us though. read more

Place was ok nothing special I'd definitely recommend any other bowling place though. I'm not the best bowler I do prefer bumpers to do decently and the guy wouldn't do it because I wasn't a child.. I think he was just too lazy to just come over and do it never had that issue anywhere else. read more

We had a group of 4 friends come here on a Sunday afternoon, place wasn't too crowded, definitely seemed family-friendly and the retro vibe was cute. However, the staff is incredibly rude. The woman walked us to our lane and we asked for bumpers to be put up. At first the woman said "oh I'd have to get the key..." then she trailed off and suddenly snapped "if you're going to drink, you can't use bumpers " we were shocked and asked if she was joking. She was not. I asked her out of curiosity what was the correlation between drinking and bumpers, thinking there was some law we didn't know about or they've had past bad experiences rowdy drunk groups abusing the bumpers, as I had never heard this before. She said "if you're old enough to drink, you're old enough to not need bumpers" wow lady, not everyone has gone bowling before, we could have someone with a disability, but most importantly, its actually none of your business why we want bumpers and its your job to provide a service. This is a rundown bowling alley we're trying to have some casual fun at, not the Bowling Olympics in Munich. Like other reviewers have said she was clearly just too lazy to put them up and putting it on us as if it was our fault. On top of that, every time we ordered a drink she snapped that we needed to keep the drinks out of the lanes. We heard you the first 5x and we're responsible adults in our 30s not teenagers. Lastly, the lane we were at was broken and kept shooting balls back at us after it cleared which is super unsafe especially with kids running around. The good: Reasonable rates, computer scoring, friendly staff, comfortable shoe rentals, good music mix playing in the background, and they have a lot of fundraisers for local causes. The could he improved: Worn/chipped bowling balls, floors could be buffed or waxed, and outdated decor. read more

Very well-maintained candlepin alley. Semi-automatic computer scoring. Original wood lanes. There is a bar and ATM onsite. The staff here are truly excellent, and they run some of the best tournaments around. You can also buy shoes, balls, and apparel from the case by the counter. Plenty of parking outside. read more

It a nice place and affordable but I was really shocked by the face of the lady working at the front desk .. my daughter walked in with her grand mother first to help her to get seated as we order the shoes and I saw this woman making a very funny face ! This is really rude and I appropriate for someone working as a customer service on a front desk ! Employ smarter and nicer people pls !! read more

We had my sons 6th birthday party here. By far the best price for a school age kids party in the area as well as bang for buck! The package we chose included 1 hour and 45 minute time slot, first to bowl, followed by a private party room. When we arrived the party room was already set up for us even though we weren't scheduled to be in the room until after the first hour of the party was over. There was a long table set with cups, plates, napkins, and plastic ware for all the kids, and a coupon for each child for a free game of bowling to use in the future. We were advised to not keep score for kids this age and to just let them bowl. We tried this, but as more children showed up and many of the attendees were boys.. We changed our minds and there was no issue with the switch. I have attended birthday parties at other locations and have felt like the staff rush the parents and children to get in and get out. One location actually bagged up presents to send home because they insisted they couldn't be opened in time. The staff at Lakeside were very patient with us. They provided a relaxed atmosphere the whole time. They were very friendly when we arrived as well as when we left. I will absolutely recommend them in the future and continue to use them for my party needs as well. read more
