There's probably as much parking lot area there, as there is park. There are wooden camping shelters there. Some people trailer horses to ride there. There are better parks in the area. On of my favorites is Panola Mountain state park. It's only about a 20minute drive away, and it's a lot bigger, and more interesting. There's a huge park area, and there are miles of natural trails in the woods there. It does cost 5.00 to park, but it's worth it. Alexander lake park is not far away. It's worth checking out, and so is Arabia mountain park, lots of hiking area there, including a huge granite formation like Stone Mountain, only not as high.

There are a few places along the trail that lead to dirt roads, if you want to go off the paved road. But otherwise, it's miles and miles of nature and beauty. This trail has all that rustic and deep forests feel to it. After a few miles it might even bring out your inner poet and have you start reciting Robert Frost, "two roads diverged in a yellow wood, And sorry I could not travel both..." In case you might like the forest too much and wish to become a hermit, there are good hills thrown into the trail for good measure. It's a nice balance of even road to let you enjoy the ride, then it changes with hills interval for a good cardiovascular workout. The view is lovely. There's a lake at panola state park, river along the way, farms and even a monastery. I saw people fishing at the lake. I spied wild life such as: Ducks Deer Rabbit There are signs for bike & kayak rental at Panola State Park.

There are individual trails off the main trail where you walk through mud, dirt, and thick brush, so keep that in mind. For the trails less traveled, look out for the spider webs! Some of the trails lead down to the river. There are playgrounds, a bathroom area (not sure if it was open), and a one big gazebo if you want to rent the space for an event. If you want to get a nice walk or run in without a lot of people, this park is perfect.

The barn you walk through could use some love it was a little spooky haha overall we would come back in a heart beat! It's a beautiful natural oasis!

However, after all of the excitement and determination to make the weekend great for The Husband's 50th, I don't think I will return. It was a very difficult balance to celebrate in such a quiet calm place. We were asked not to play loud vulgar music, but the aux was passed and there it goes. Bill wasn't rude but...I don't know. The issue was resolved and we still ended up having a great time. In hindsight I am feeling the cost for the rental of the pavilion was a bit expensive with no contracts and such...I don't know, but because I had such a great time it's a shrug ‍ I still liked it better than renting a section in the club. The pavilion is really nice and huge with several fire pits conveniently placed to enjoy your stay. They sold me a stack for the pits for $20. We had a trailer pulled to the camp site for $45 a night. Make sure you confirm the size and amps needed. It was almost an issue. I'm a novice at camping. The paddle boats could use an update/upgrade. I would recommend you go here if you want to camp not party we had our friend pull a truck in for some good BBQ all of his cuisines ate great though! The camper was rented through Better Travels LLC, Rhett or go to outdoorsy.com. Rhett was amazing!!! He was professional and safe . He and his driver worked out complications with the sight to place the camper due to miscommunication. Thanks Rhett!!!!

I left an honest review of our stay and their strange check in/payment process/fees and conditions of the lake on a different camping app and was met with harassment over it. When I told the owners that the should be more clear in their listing, I was told I am "Maybe reading impaired, maybe not" Save your money and go camp at a State Park with clean water to recreate in, without all the bogus upcharges and people looming over you your entire stay.

Lee, and Stonewall Jackson. The mountain was also the site where the second Ku Klux Klan was founded in 1915. Knowing that history made it difficult for me to fully enjoy the experience. They've built a family-friendly attraction area around the park with shops, activities, and entertainment, but when we visited, it was DEAD. There were barely any people around, and the area felt almost deserted. I'm not sure if it was the day we visited, the cost of the attractions, or simply that people come more for the hiking and scenery, but the attraction area lacked energy. The mountain itself and the surrounding nature are beautiful, but personally, the history behind the site is something I can't overlook. I'm glad I experienced it once, but it's probably not somewhere I'd go out of my way to visit again.
