This place is basically a bad ass escape that leaves you looking like James Bond every time you walk out. If James Bond were 100 times more manly, cultured, confident, and ripped. Slavko, "the blade master of the Balkans" basically sculpts scruffy looking beards into intimidating Adonis chins that rob your enemies of all their confidence after a single glance. Seriously though, I went in here wanting to get through a weird transition of hair growth and walked out looking like a million bucks. That's pretty much how it works every time. Found The lodge on yelp and decided to check them out. For me it's always a big step of faith to try a new barbershop plus I'm very very meticulous when it comes to my hair. Had a haircut from Rick yesterday afternoon and it was great. Booked online, came in after work, friendly greeting, offered a cold beverage and then sat down in the chair. Rick was attentive and after a few questions went to work. He was very pleasant not overly talkative, but not mute, very friendly. He gave me a very good haircut and at the conclusion gave me a slight suggestion on how to improve on what I requested, I agreed and he took care of it and it looks great. A know it all "barber" not a stylist woman continuously asked me why I came here rather than Floyds because I was asking too many questions and wanting to see her cut my hair-she turned my chair away from the mirror throughout the whole cut. When she started using a razor blade on my neck and behind the ears I asked her if she had plastic. She quipped, "Plastic?! This ain't Floyds!" I told her I was allergic to razor on my back and she made fun of it. I have never stormed out of a barber shop in my life! I am extremely impressed with the quality of service that I have received as well the professionalism of the Barbers and the other staff members. Upon entering you're greeted with a warm smile, offered a drink, and treated like first class. They have some hair products for sale, cigars, and even a pool table to play some 8 ball or 9 ball while waiting. I prefer to use the appointment feature which has also not been a let down at all. So far I have had my hair done by Mitchell and Jose. Both gentleman did an outstanding job and I would recommend either one of them. I'm grateful that this shop is just up the street from where I live so it's easy to get to. As well there are many places to eat nearby so if you have some extra time on your hands it's easy to fill with grabbing a pizza, smoothie, Starbucks, or a craft beer at The Tavern. If you have your lady with you there is a wine bar up the block as well. All around amazing place. I would give it TEN Stars if Yelp would allow me. My brother is getting married soon and my brothers and I felt that we could all use a trim and decided to make a Saturday of it and got in touch with the store owners. Orlando and Stephanie were the best! They shut the store down and we had the store to ourselves for a few hours, had a great time and walked out looking sharp. I highly recommend getting a shave. That straight edge gets damn close! On a side note, they have shoe shine setup, which although we didn't advantage of, is very reminiscent of old school barber shops. Rick cut my hair and I swear I have never gotten a worse haircut. Looks like a five year old did it with a pair of scissors. I showed him a picture of what I wanted and asked him if i had enough hair to do it, he said yeah and that my hair would be just above my eyebrows. It's a solid 2 and a half inches from my eyebrow and now I look like frankenstein. I don't know how well the other barbers cut hair there but don't request Rick. read more

This place is one of those arrogant barber shop places which customers have to beg for service. Literally don't expect any sort of normal customer service. When you walk in, not one of the barbers will say anything, and they don't pay a receptionist. Normally you would expect a "hello, thanks for coming in. how can I help you?"Expect to sit there uncomfortably while the 3 barbers just take glances at you. It will be a strange experience, where you would expect it to be a front for an illegal business of some sort. After about 5 minutes, you will ask if you can get a haircut, and then the arrogant lead barber will say, we will TRY to fit you in. You will ask if this is by appointment only, and the lead barber will say no, but let me check the schedule. Okay, there is no sign saying appointments only or any sign of an indication of how long your going to have to wait. Then, your going to have to negotiate and beg for the one of the 3 barbers to cut your hair. When you show dissatisfaction, the lead barber will argue with you and make you feel you did something wrong. In my case, I told him I can simply take my money some place else, which he then said maybe I should do that. I felt a lot of racial resistance here in the exchange, and frankly, when I walked back out and take a picture of the place, the lead barber came out again to challenge me. read more

I asked for a little thinner and he faded my back and sides with the clippers. Shave cream and razor finishing touches, and very important, was the ears and eyebrow trim. Highly recommended. I tried The Lodge one time and won't be back. I was quoted $20.00 over the phone for a basic men's cut but was charged $25.00. Orlando didn't cut my hair; rather, it was a young woman with pink hair. I don't mind that but she must have dropped two dozen f-bombs during my haircut. I'm no prude but come on - that's a bit much. For $5.00 more I now go to Tangerine and also get a shampoo as well. Orlando - even though this gal does a good job you've got to coach her on how it's not ok to talk with customers like that. Your business deserves better! read more
