This has been our go-to place for free and fun crafts on the weekends. They have one every Saturday at 11am so far in November and now in December. The teacher is always friendly and patient as she explains the days activity with smiles. Lakeshore can be tricky for both parents and children as they have a plethora of learning toys, games, puzzles, books and teacher treasures. This is both bad and good because it is tempting to purchase everything in sight, however it makes for a fun time allowing children to explore all the items displayed for hands-on fun. They can be pricy but always have discounts available either at the craft center, through their text message alerts if you sign up, or often times discounts in house featured at the front of the store. We typically spend 2 hours playing here and reading books. They have only one restroom, but it is spacious and has always been clean. They do have some affordable treats near the register that are fun for treasure boxes and rewards. The back area is a TEACHER paradise with many fun supplies ass well as a laminating machine :D We always enjoy our visit and thank the staff for being friendly even when it gets crowded. I LOVE this store. My daughter and I started going when she was 3 and you'll get a punch card and after 3-4 crafts you'll get little prizes. We've brought her friends, gone there to make cards/goodies for the grandparents. They also display a lot of the toys and so we go from station to station after the craft and fill a good hour and a half there doing the craft and playing with educational toys. Especially in the summertime when you're trying to beat the heat, it's a great place to go! :) The lady in charge of the program knows all the kids names and really encourages the parents to be involved, to create w/ their kids, and for everyone to have a good time. Offers discounts via text, fairly frequently. Laminator available for those who do not have access at their campus. Lots of basic classroom decor necessities: paper rolls, border, posters. Friendly staff. Cons: Overpriced. Not much selection in the way of science, IMO. Not sure about social studies materials, as I never needed them. Store looks like it has a ton of stuff, but I always found myself inexplicably disappointed with selection, but couldn't put my finger on what more I was specifically looking for. read more

My daughter's school hosted a "fundraising" party here. It was cool because they came to her school for the parents who work at night, then held the same type of event at the store after school. We were glad we attended the evening event because the store has a lot to offer! I could see why the director of the school raves about Lakeshore so often. We found a ton of great books, wooden puzzels and numerous learning tools. Its a great place for teachers and educators or anyone who likes having kids learn while playing! There are tons of good stuff for the classroom and lots of stuff for home. While the parents shopped, the kids crafted which was nicely supervised. All of the employees were very helpful and enthusiastic about the products they offered. Most items were a little pricey, so I made sure to peep the bargain tables. Some of the items had been there awhile as they showed signs of sun bleach from the windows and relocated. All in all this is a great store and I'm thankful I had the opportunity to purchase educational and fun items for the holiday. read more

They include plenty of tactile practice, hand-eye coordination and more. They have Yelp check-in specials here and there and in store sales too. There is plenty to pick up here, you don't have to be a teacher or involved in education to find something. There are options for most ages, great home games, flash cards, craft items and such. I didn't know about the check-in discount, will definitely have to use that next time! This place is neat for teachers, day cares, and even moms who want to supplement their child's education at home. A lot of the toys, games, puzzles, and school supplies could be found elsewhere for cheaper prices I'm sure, but the convenience of having them all in one place is really helpful when school is just around the corner. The prices really aren't that much higher anymore since they have to be competitive with stores like Staples and Office Depot carrying classroom decor. I went today, a week and a half before school starts, and everything was 20% off! Scored some cute borders for my bulletin boards, a couple simple anchor charts to use for genre, and sentence strips in all colors. Kudos to Kati, the cashier that rung us up. She was friendly, informative, and sweet all at once! I don't mind sopping at stores with a little inflation to receive great customer service. My only complaint is the store is a bit far for me, especially with 410/281 traffic. Wish there was another one in town! The education field here is HUGE, hence the 700 teachers Northside ISD added this year alone, so I'm sure we could use it! Everyone is so nice and helpful here! Every time I have come here the employees have surpassed my customer service expectations. No matter how busy they may be they make time to help each customer with their needs. And the store itself, well it is an educator's paradise. I love this store it has every area you need for academic resources. I even buy things for my autistic son here since moving here I have been unable to find an autism resource store but they have some great items here. I just want end by saying if you need access to laminating this is the place to go! If you are familiar with abeka you may be impressed by this. I laminated all of my abeka blend ladders for about 5 bucks maybe less I can't remember but certainly no more than $5. read more
