This location has some of the worst customer service I have ever experienced. Unfortunately, the employees seem to have the same unpleasant and dismissive attitude as the store owner. Customers are not allowed to choose the color of the item they are purchasing. When I asked about selecting a specific color, I was simply told by an employee, "You get what you get." Even more concerning, I was refused the opportunity to purchase a NeeDoh because the owner and an employee insisted that I had already purchased one earlier that day. They even asked whether a family member had been in the store to purchased one. I explained that I had no idea whether a family member had stopped by, but I was still refused the item. For the record, my family lives out of state, so I am pretty confident that none of them had been there. I have never experienced a situation where I was denied the opportunity to purchase an item based solely on an employee's assumption that I, or someone who "resembled" me, had already made a purchase. The entire interaction was extremely unpleasant and left me very disappointed with the customer service at this location. I will never shop at this store again. read more

This is a great place to find toys and crafts for children of all ages. I like to come here to buy gifts for the children of my friends because a lot of the selection helps with learning. I like that the toys are always positive. I like being able to find toy kits that inspire kids such as doctor or dentist or a future designer or engineer. Great selection to influence an imagination. The prices are affordable, you can find something on any budget. The staff is attentive and helpful. They also offer gift wrapping services! read more

I was going to get some dumplings when there was false advertising and we bought a bubblepookie pookie squishie dumpling but on the outside it said that it was a squishy and it was not. So we go back in to exchange it because we called and the girl said that we could exchange and this old lady that works there comes up and says there is no damage when there was in the bubble coming out and the bottom, so the the whole work staff came and surrounded us saying no exchange, but if you were you would have to pay 30% extra for restock. But overall just terrible service because the old lady there said to her own coworker that said oh it must have been the new girl that answered your phone cause she thinks she knows everything. And the new girl was just that was me so innocent poor girl so anyways just get new workers read more

So excited I was one of the last customers to receive a ticket for the Needoh drop. My niece from Alabama has been asking us to find them for her and I did! The staff was so fun, nice, and helpful! So glad I decided to stand in that line for this event. read more

This store is very overpriced. The blind boxes are being sold at nearly double the price compared to other stores, including Tesolife.

Good place to find gifts and stocking stuffers at reasonable prices. Only o e employee there at my last visit. It took a while to get checked out. read more

Such a cute store, both educational and fun. This shop is very clean and organized, conveniently located in the Alamo outdoor shopping center, with walking distance to movie theater, shops and restaurants. Friendly service and Parking is very easy to find. read more

I love this toy store. Glad to see some chains are still in business. Quality people and quality toys. Quality over quantity, something the late Toys 'R Us sometimes failed to fulfill! The Learning Express also, as the name foreshadows, have a plethora of educational toys which is always nice to see. There are often sales in the store. Take the time to look around, you might be surprised at how affordable it can be. Compact yet filled to the brim with goodies. Big fan of the Squishables & the Squishmallows lines. Any location I go to, I have never had a problem with the employees. In fact, they are always an asset. Especially welcoming of the child at heart I am, playing around. read more

Absolutely disgusted with the audacity of this store. I have been going here many times and this past visit was anything but good. Everything was nearly empty and to the left of the store there is shelves full of frogs kept in dangerous environments. Those frogs are not having regulated water, enough plants for oxygen, lamps for heating, and are supposed to be kept in 5 gallon tanks. They are also being fed pellets for fMany frogs were struggling to stay up to the top of the water to gain oxygen from a tiny hole on the top. One was not moving (I presume dead) and there was even some tanks with 2 frogs at a time. It's obvious they're just thinking of money and not the actual well being of the frogs they're selling. Will never be returning here again. read more

If you are in the area and need to pick up a very special gift for a child, you've found the right place! They will even wrap it for you if you're the type of parent who rushes around (bad you!). I'll admit it is convenient! The selection ranges from baby toys and learning items, to Disney Princesses, to science projects for boys and girls. They have a great selection of DIY projects as well. I'm sure by this point you're wondering "Why the 3 stars, Fawn?" Price! This is a boutique which means you're going to pay the boutique prices. Some of the items you'll find at Target or Walmart for sometimes $5 less. Now, there are some items you won't find any where else, which is what I usually look for and I know I'll find it here. They recently set up a Thomas the Train play table which occupies my daughter while I shop for the perfect gift. There are a lot of items that will occupy your child really, she just loves trains. read more

Place was very overpriced. Found some items cheaper on targets website before purchasing here. So I only bought something I didn't think I could find anywhere else. One of the lady cashiers commented on my height (I'm 4'9) saying "oh I didn't see you, you're so short" right before ringing me up. That did it for me bc as you can imagine I always have people saying things like that. After that I just wanted to get out of there without purchasing anything at all but I was buying something for my nieces birthday. Another thing is they have 2 frogs in tiny aquariums. I put my hand next to it to show the comparison. With a tiny air hole. They're not getting the proper care they need. They need to stop selling these immediately. read more

The owner Tim Hicks touched my service dog from the back without asking and my service dog turned around to snap out of fear (he is still in training it says so on his vest) he then told us we needed to leave and weren't allowed back. A golden retriever OFF LEASH NO COLLAR was roaming the store and came up to my dog and started barking in his face. He is lucky I didn't kick that dog in the face for what he did, having a dog like that is not right. The whole situation was awful. It was no surprise my dog was coming inside we were camping out there since 10pm the night before and the manager saw us multiple times. Do Better. ALWAYS ASSUME A DOG IN A PUBLIC PLACE IS A SERVICE DOG NO PETS ARE ALLOWED IN PUBLIC SPACES UNLESS STATED read more

Great store for all ages of "kids" (some kids at heart). Staff is INCREDIBLY helpful & chose a specific staff member for my birthday boy's age group. The 3 year old birthday boy chose my gift to play with the entire time over the other 40+ gifts he got!! And the adults kept trying to borrow it too!! Thank you Learning Express Toys!!! read more

You need to update your closing time online for Sunday. We drove 25 miles to come to your store only to find out you closed at 5pm instead of 6pm. read more

I popped in here to try and find a birthday present for my young nephew who is pretty much only interested in video games. Learning Express is a toy store that tries to educate and encourage creativity so I thought, hey maybe I can find something to take him away from being glued to the TV. There are tons of puzzles and board games and it definitely took awhile, but I ended up finding him a Magic Trick Set which I know he'll be down with. The prices are a bit higher than say, Walmart, but these are toys that you can pretty much guarantee a kid won't already have. Perfect place to find gifts. read more

Great place to buy birthday presents - because they wrap it on the spot for you! I recommend getting the frequent shopper card, because once you have 10 stamps you get free merchandise for the average amount of your purchases. It's a deal. Conveniently located in the Quarry. They have some unique educational toys and good customer service. read more

They have great educational toys on top of all the popular plush and Pokémon cards. It also helps that everyone working at this location always goes above and beyond for customers! read more

Cute store tucked away a door or two down from the movie theater. Nifty little toys (excuse me... did I just say 'nifty'???). They even have some Sanrio stuff in here too. I love the huge stuffed animals they usually have displayed in the front windows. Too cute! read more

Learning Express is a great place to find toys because it's well edited. Instead of walking up and down aisle after aisle and having no clue what is good, Learning Express seems to only carry toys that foster curiosity. They have the brand Melissa and Doug, which uses non-toxic paint and recreates timeless classics that all kids like. The store is well organized and the staff will point you in the right direction for the age group you are looking for. There is a great selection of trains, science kits, hello kitty, legos, and a whole preschool section. Abundantly stocked and easy to navigate. read more

We come here all the time and most employees here are very friendly and helpful except for one. I didn't get her name but she's an older employee with glasses and gray hair. She's very rude and cops an attitude with people who are shopping or have any questions. You would think for working in a toy store the lady would lighten up a bit. But after seeing her the past 5 times I've visited, she always has the same irritable attitude. I would avoid her as much as possible when shopping here. And for the love of god don't ask her any questions because she seems like she's about to lose it! read more

This is a cute little shop, however the prices are what knock me off my feet. I'm all for educational toys and spreading a child's imagination into space but for the bargain price of $$$ minimum you've got to be kidding me. What ever happened to a board game costing under $5?! I know I know, times have changed and I need to get hip with it but that doesn't mean I'm going to like it. Now this place is great if you want to spend the cash, however there are similar if not the same toys also found at Target or Walmart for way cheaper. Either way, my little guy had a blast looking around and playing with the toys. I did end up caving and buying him a toy anyway. I'm hanging my head in shame... read more

In the past I have had a good experience shopping here, but on my most recent visit I left extremely bothered. We tried to return an item because it stopped working (we have bought multiple items from here that have either broke within the same day or stopped working) and according to the return policy you can return within 30 days (we had bought it a week ago) or I believe it is 60 days which allows you to have in store credit. I did not return the previous items, except for this time because I wanted to exchange a non working timer bookmark for a working one. When we walked into the store and spoke with the person in charge she reacted with an aggressive attitude, and immediately assumed that we bought the book mark off the internet. I repeatedly asked her to check their system as I knew my purchase was in the system. I was so embarrassed because she continued to raise her voice at me in front of other customers. I asked what her name was, but she refused to give me her name and told me she was the assistant manager (I found out the next day that she was a key holder because I spoke with a manager in charge to let them know of my experience). It was not until she spent ten minutes looking in the system that she found my purchase and her demeanor immediately changed. After this encounter I have decided to no longer visit this store. I am taking my business elsewhere and plan to find a store, in which I will not be disrespected because never once did I disrespect the person who helped me even with her attitude. The toys are great, but there are many other stores in SA with great toys. read more

While it may be a bit pricey, it is definitely worth a visit. The toys here are educational, unique, and varied. There are little play tables set up for the kids to play with train tracks, etc. We love to kill an hour or two here on a rainy day, and leave with a small treat. read more

Lately the staff here has been AWESOME! You walk in, they immediately ask to help you and help they do! They can point you in the right direction according to age and gender of the child. Tons of great toys and games for a variety of ages AND DID I MENTION THE FREE GIFT WRAPPING!!?? read more

I have been to this location a few times and was over in this area after work and thought I would pick up some little items for my grandkids. First its a tiny store barely any room to walk at all... The manager Cindy is so rude, she talked down to me the entire time I was there, not to mention that she never did her job just kept calling, the good store, to get them to do stuff. Verna is rude and I could hear her bad mouthing the other store. (Really its the owners other store) I still like the Stone Oak store better, much better staff. read more
