They had vendors, arts and crafts, music and, sandcastle lessons, and a drum circle I participated in poetry writing and painting a Roseate Spoonbill bird in water color. I stepped out of my comfort level and skill set today!! Local published poets, Naomi Shahib Nye and Jim Boone ran the group for poetry writing; Naomi read one of my poems to the crowd; they applauded and she told me to take a bow!! WOW! I was shocked I have a video of Naomi reading my poem to the crowd but video is too big to post on this forum ... also have a video of my friend playing in the drum circle Fun day!

We went in and got some amazing pictures. Then a rude person who called himself the Executive Assistant of the Director came out and basically accused us of trespassing. He treated us as if we were interlopers and made it clear that no one can come in unless they are part of an institution and we were not welcome there. We would never have come in if we weren't invited. We're an older couple and didn't deserve to be treated so rudely. We've passed the building a lot of times and now will think of this rude individual and look away in the future.

Pinky's made it so easy to reserve, communicate when we had to make a schedule change, and help my guests feel at ease on the water! They handle the kayak transportation, life jackets, quick paddling instructions, and even provided dry bags and bottle of water! The two people who run this local business are friendly common sense people, who will work with you to make the trip a good one. The price is well worth the trip! This was my second or third time using Pinky's and they were just awesome.

I'll just start by saying Pinky's is awesome. That's my review in a nutshell…read more Now for the longer version: We rented kayaks less than 24 hours in advance and they were so accommodating. Great communication too. We showed up at Bay Area Park at our designated time (we had decided on 2pm). The boats were waiting and ready on the dock along with paddles and life jackets. We were offered a dry bag, but we brought our own. We were also given two bottles of water for the trip and loaned a map of the Bayou. We accidentally brought home the map. I need to return that to them. Anyway.... With a very easy launch, we were on the water and paddling. The bayou was low that day but there were no issues. Did you know there are bald eagles out there? We saw alligators but they kept their distance and so did we. However, we did stop to watch when two alligators got in a fight! Tails were in the air, big splashes... It was crazy. I've never seen anything like it and we got a front row seat. Absolutely amazing, y'all! I loved seeing all of the different birds. The osprey were so cool. And there were fish jumping out of the water near our boats. Just a surreal experience. Y'all gotta try Pinky's. Prices are reasonable and they're just super nice people. The experience on the bayou was so incredible, we're already planning to get back out there as soon as the weather clears up.

I feel as though they should have cancelled the trip or refunded half our cost. But that's not the reason we had a horrible time: First off they didn't seem prepared at all for the day. They told a large portion of our group to meet at a different spot, which neither of the two informed each other of, so after finally finding the rest of our group we were on our way. We didn't end up getting in the water until 90 minutes later. Then the one guide had to convince the lady (owner) to go with us at the last minute, which she clearly was not planning on doing. awkward... They put half of our group in the wrong kind of kayak for such low water levels. FYI; unless there's a danger of flipping over... loan SIT INSIDES ONLY!!! We were told there would be free snacks; this turned out to be a zip lock bag passed around by the owner half full of sample size cliff bars and when I grabbed the cliff blocks I was told to "share those". (ummm lady, do you think I chose the most expensive snack by ACCIDENT?!??!) Lastly they couldn't figure out where the pull out spot was, this is inexcusable. Buy a freakin GPS already!, it's a business expense!!!! C'MOOOOON people!
