I see this as a secret location in North Houston/Spring with sand. This would be a perfect place to film Nature Feels by Frank O Besides the point this park is definitely a gem that is hidden in the city. This is the only park I've seen that has a canoe area and also has a part that is something like a beach. If you have dogs they will love this beach area, and this is a great place to gaze at the stars if your into that. read more

One of our favorite parks in the area! **said in stefans voice from snl** They have it all...a dog park, where you can walk your four legged friend, a beautiful walking trail where you can pretend you're an expert in all things nature, and two little playgrounds, good enough for your toddler, kids, and those in the terrible twos and threes phase. Beautiful place! Awesome dog parks. 1 is for big dogs, 1 is for small dogs.... DO NOT BRING YOUR SMALL DOGS INTO THE BIG AREA. There are signs and small dogs don't belong with the big ones. Small dogs tend to be more mean and that doesn't work out with bigger animals. But great place, there's a playground and water for everyone. A wash area to clean your dogs. So i have been scouting out various areas that I could enjoy with my pup on a minimal stress level (I have to admit I love my pup to death but he is a handful and has more energy than I can even grasp or wrap my head around). This park opens at 8 am and closes at dusk. The dog park sits across from the parking lot, its not featured on the map. It had a fenced in area for both small dogs under 25 lbs and large dogs 25 lbs and up. Of course my black lab being a brute of 37 pounds at 4 months finds himself on the big dog side. This dog park appears well maintained and enough open space to burn off all that stored energy, the pups of course, unless your having to chase your dog. There are a handful of benches to sit and watch your furry child enjoy themselves, also available are doggie bags to pick up after your child, please do so! A dog park simply wouldn't be complete without water, hydration and fun alike. Double drinking fountain on entrance for both human and 4-legged friend, a red fire hydrant that mists with a simple button push, and towards the right hand side of the park a kiddie pool with a shower spout that shots water into it again simple button mechanics. Plenty of trees for sniffing and rugged terrain for running. There is also a hose outside of the two parks just in case your pup needs an extra rinse before making it back to the car. This park also has a playground area near the parking lot. I noticed plenty of picnic tables before I hit the short Hart Pundt Lake trail that leads from the playground and wraps around the actual lake. I think they had just laid down new cedar chips on the trail, at least that is what my nose was telling me, again very well maintained. I definitely will be taking another trip here many times over, there is much ground I have yet to cover. read more

OK, so every park around my way closes at 5pm! What's up with that!? Oh Memorial Park picnic loop, how I miss you!! =0[ It was my puppy's one year anniversary and I wanted to take him out for a long walk at the park. I looked on the Harris County district 4 website and found Pundt park. This park actually closes at 7 until November, when it will start closing at 5... which kind of sucks, but what can you do?? The park is pretty deep in Spring. You have to drive through a long street and a neighborhood to get to the entrance. The park looks pretty new. There are a bunch of dirt roads and the parking lot seems to have been paved very recently. There is a very nice playground right next to parking lot. I also saw an entrance to their RV park. OK, so when I first got there there was only one other car in the whole park. It was a green pickup and that made me a little nervous. First of, this park is in the middle of nowhere and being alone in a 385 acre land with just one other person, who I don't happen to know or see, is not something I enjoy. I have watched plenty of murder mystery programs to know that being careful is definitely not overrated. I walked my dog a little but refused to get too far from my car. Fifteen minutes later another car came into the lot and it was a young woman with her dog. That made me feel a little more comfortable. The park is really nice. It actually has a few ponds and lakes. I guess I would enjoy the park much more if I felt a little safer there. I ended up leaving about 30 minutes after I got there... it was just too scary for me. Maybe I'm paranoid, but better safe than sorry! read more

For as much as I've been here, ya woulda thought I would've written a review. Well, for starters this place is huge. It spans about 17 miles in trail length alongside Cypress Creek and after going here 3-4x a week for three months, I'm fairly confident in giving a thorough review.. so here goes! PARKING: To get to the parking lot, just drive straight and it'll be on your right. If you turn right on that curve (you'll see it before you see the parking lot), you'll just end up circling around the park. But you'll get to see the ponds where people fish from and one of the main trails that's called the Spring Creek Greenway trails. There's a little dirt driveway next to the trail, where some people park but I'm not entirely sure if it's to walk on the trail or not. Circling around to get the parking lot will prob take 5-8 min. So just drive straight from the park entrance if you're trying to get there!! DOG PARKS: Once at the parking lot, you'll see a huge dog park separated by small and big dog pens across the street. I would say the best times to go are during the weekend around 12 if you want your pup to play with other pups. There's less pups on the weekdays but I would say 12 is a good time to go too. The dog park is pretty big with lots of space to run around. If you've got a fluffy pup, make sure to check their paws as there were a buncha little thorns on the ground that my were embedded in my dog's fur. Overall, there's a fairly okay amount of dogs in the dog park, but definitely not as much as Meyer Park on 1960. But this dog park is way bigger and IMO.. better! PLAYGROUND & BATHROOM: Next to the parking lot there's a playground and picnic tables, which are put to good use during weekend lunch parties. The thing that surprised me the most about this park was the bathroom. It's one of the best park bathrooms I've been to! Not saying it's the cleanest, but they've got your necessities: toilet paper and soap. And generally, it is pretty clean (doesn't reek of poop or pee... you know what I mean). TRAILS: I only run here so I'm speaking to my runners! when you park, there's generally three ways you can start: you can walk on the trail next to the playground that leads to the Cypress Greenway Trail; you can walk on the trail next to the dog park that's called Hardwood trail, or you can choose to circle around the park. If this is your first time and you are alone, I recommend just walking around the paved road that circles the park. This park is heavily wooded and there are not a lot of people that come here, so it can be pretty creepy going into the trails that span for MILES. As a female, this would be the option I would choose if I went alone as it's not far from the parking lot, you'll see some people along the way either at the ponds or running too, and it's probably a mile to run around and you'll get a good run in. Between the trail next to the playground and the trail next to the dog park, my favorite one hands down is the one next to the dog park (Hardwood Trail). This is because: 1) it runs behind and around neighborhoods 2) it's got a little bit more open land 3) there's a great view of Cypress Creek at one point 4) more people on this trail since it's around neighborhoods. In my opinion, it's safer. The Cypress Greenway trail is nice too (the one next to the playground), but it is less populated and more woodsy. You don't see a lot of other people around this trail unless you're here on a weekend and then you'll run into lots of bicyclists. The trees pretty much tower over you and there's woods for days, which can be a peaceful experience for some--just not for me. I'm too paranoid for that mess even if I am with someone else. On these two paved trails, there's also a lot of little trails that diverge. I've seen some people come out of said trails, which scare the crap outta me, but to each their own! There are also horse trails here and it's always a pleasure to see them. Can't say the same for my dogs. But again, to each their own. There are definitely more ways to describe this park, but I'll leave it at this. Hope it helps anyone interested in coming here. read more

My pup and I travel across the US and visit the dog parks. This dog park is awesome. Well manicured, shaded, lots of poopy sack dispensers, seats, and tables. An attendant was making sure that the wading pools were full or clean. Some dog parks are known to be full of Karen's. The vibe here was very comfortable and friendly. There is a paved loop within the park so that you can measure your walls while your pet enjoys her visits. The parking lot is clean and the bathrooms in the lot were clean. Great job people of Houston and park system. read more

This is my pup's favorite park in the area. He loves to come here to release some energy. There are normally a few dogs here for him to play with. Very rarely is there an aggressive pet here but i have seen one or two over the past 2 months. There are bags available for owners to pick up after their pets. I love this park! This is my son & I's new favorite spot. He loves the playground & when he wants a break from the playground we go walking the trails & around the lake. The lake has a catch & release rule. They have a small area for toddlers & bigger area for big kids & a set of swings. 2 baby swings & 2 regular swings. They have public restrooms & a wash/rinse area. I love that this place is so close to home. read more

In the words of my hound dog... BawwwrrooooooOOOOOooooooo! Interpretation: AWESOME PLACE!!! My understanding is this park has trails, water, and lots to do... we've only used the dog park and playgrounds. The dog park is two very large open pens (one side for dogs under 25 lbs. and the other side for those over). The rules of the park are clearly posted and aggressive dogs are not allowed and must be removed at the first sign of aggression. Great place to let the pooch off the leash to run and play and do hound dog type things (or whatever type dog you may have). The playground across the road is great for kids, not just a couple of slides and swings... the usual setup... but more of an adventure style obstacle course. Very engaging for the active kid who likes to move, climb, and problem solve on the go. Best park in the area we've found for the things we love to do and highly recommended! read more

This review is limited to the dog park, as I haven't really explored the rest of the park. For the most part, it is clean, and most of the owners who come and visit are responsible and keep an eye on their dogs, though it's pretty common to find droppings which have not been picked up by owners. The grounds are very pretty, nice trees and a nice asphalt walking path for humans while they watch their fur babies play, though often the grass can grow too long between mows. My dogs always have a good time here and they do make lots of friends! read more

This is a nice park, even if the dog park portion (what I came for) is a little bit small. There aren't very clear signs in the park leading to the dog park area, you have to pick a narrow winding road and hope it comes out in the proper place. The dog park was clean and the walking path was nicely maintained. I liked that there were two water features, a pump fountain that sprayed into a kiddie pool, and fake fire hydrant. The fake fire hydrant was broken, but the fountain worked and my labrador enjoyed it enormously. read more

This park is amazing!! There are so many trees and trails to keep any outdoor lover happy!! I went to Pundt Park last weekend with my husband and 2 dogs, and we were really surprised with everything the park had to offer. The walking trails are nice and wide so if a bicycle, or other dog walkers go buy there is plenty of space (regarding the Hardwood Trail and the Oxbow Loop). The dog park was perfect for my dogs needs. I have been to Archer dog park off HWY 6 and my dog Lady has been attacked there many times, there are too many people and dogs, and people don't watch their pets!!! Drives me nuts!! I digress....what I liked about the dog park at Pundt is that it was quiet, and very laid back. We stuck to the small dog side, and the hour we were there we saw maybe 4 other dogs. It was nice and stress free for me and my pups! The only thing bad I can say is that some parts of the trails have lots of soft loose sand, and one of my dogs kept inhaling the sand and then coughing like crazy...but maybe that will change over time! Go and check it out people! And if you have a mean crazy attack dog, please stay home! read more

The park is nice and so are the trails. However, park management is rude and unfriendly. I took my 4 year old here on a Saturday. While driving through the park I pulled over on a gravel area because the path was extremely narrow and there were quite a few bike riders coming through. I didn't want to be rude and come close to them so I sat there for a few minutes until some guy on a golf cart pulled up and rudely told me, " you can't park here, you're going to have to move." I told him I was waiting for the riders to clear and he replied, "yea ok, move the truck" and sped off. Not once did he ask if I needed help or assistance of any kind. Advice to management: train your staff to be a little more friendly. It's a park for crying out loud. read more

Wish I would have taken a pic of the creek, next time because this place is such a nice escape. Today, we ventured out to find a dog park and boy did we! The dog park is divided into 2 ranges (less than 25 pd and greater than 25) well for this mom of a little guy, I really appreciated that since most of the dog parks I have been to are usually chaotic and overcrowded.....not here! It was clean, with some water areas to have some cool off time and not crowded at all. Our family will definitely make our way back to this peaceful spot! read more

I visit the dog park frequently because it is within walking distance and have lately been more and more disappointed by the lack of care and amenities available. On several occasions there has been NO water for dogs or humans. The water fountain that is available is leaking and stopped up. The tiny plastic pools provided or broken, leaking or missing! The spray fountain is broken and has been for quite a while! And the drains or stopped up and forming discussing pools! read more

My wife and I have ridden the bike trail and enjoyed it quite a bit; the dog park was a hit with our pooch. My only comments I'd put into the "suggestion" box would be: Add a pond like they have on Allen Parkway so dogs can swim if they want to. It sure would save me a much longer drive to downtown. I, along with 4 others, spent 3/4/11 horse back riding at Pundt Park. It was fabulous and worth the almost 2-hr drive from Brenham. Clean, ample parking for horse trailers, well maintained trails thru the woods, free of charge, and riding in the middle of Spring Creek was a blast! read more

I like all parks pretty much, but I especially like this one. Now, I did see the dog park, which is separated into two parts -- one for smaller pups, one for the larger dogs. It was fairly busy. It had washing "stations" to clean your dogs. I don't have a dog and didn't go inside. It's across from the playground and sole bathrooms in the park. There was also the single water fountain. Maybe there are others that I didn't notice. NOTE TO SELF: Bring your own water. The parking lot is generous size, but it only has a few picnic tables, and most of those are not shaded, so during the summer, they'll be useless. PARK PEOPLE: more shaded picnic tables, please. If you go on line to Precinct 4's website, you can find the trails map, which is useful. I did note, however, that there are many trails that are not noted on the trail map. There are, also, equestrian trails with mostly nice soft, sandy trails, plus ample trailer parking and a nice turn-around for the trailers. Some trails are paved, smooth, no potholes or cracks. Just great. What a wonderful benefit for mobility-impaired or wheelchair folks. There were lots of bike riders of all sizes and ages. I did notice the constables patrolling on 3-wheelers. Nice to see that. Just a wonderful park. read more
