This one has a beautiful lake with a waterfall which cascades over a bridge walkway. The meandering shape of the lake is just so graceful and relaxing to look upon. Some cool features are the fact you can walk down to the waters edge and just take in the beauty of the water gently splashing up on the grassy shores with big Texas shade trees and baby ducks sleeping in the grassy areas. Sit on the walkway wall right above the waterfall and watch the waterfall as you drift away daydreaming mindlessly without a care in the world. There's a couple of picnic tables to bring a snack and just hang out with a total 360 view of the lake. Picturesque for photos. Nicely manicured grass areas and natural grassy terrain - you choose. Catch and release fishing. You can ride your bike up to the waters edge or drive your car and just park on the side. There use to be many large wild ducks and geese which would walk across Cochrans Crossing and hold up traffic. Don't seem to see the big wild ones anymore. If you do and are new to this park don't feed them. They'll come running fast after you and will ATTACK. I've been chased out by them snapping at the bottom of my jeans. I even had to throw pine cones on the ground to deter them letting them think it was food to escape. Anyway it seems like the LARGE WILD ATTACK DUCKS have moved on and the park is back to a more ZEN feeling.

We loved the multitude of hiking trails here varying from less than 0.5 miles to 3.2 miles, but wish there was a map to help guide us as we hiked. As hard as we looked, we couldn't find a single hiking trail map within the park including at the trailheads! Luckily, there were clear trail markers (yellow arrows) on all the trails. As one might expect, there's plenty of wildlife - including snakes here. We ran into a harmless ribbon snake crossing the path on the Palmetto Loop Trail! Important Tip: bring your hiking shoes! We love our Merrell Waterproof Moab hiking shoes. If it's recently rained you'll be trekking through some mud and puddles. This also looks like a great place to fish! It's best known for catching rainbow trout.

I honestly have nothing negative to say about this park. Its always clean, no matter what time I come its clean!! I noticed they have a small vented in the middle of the park where folks can have gatherings and such occasions ... This is a pretty big park might I say... I believe they play soccer there daily. (Que VH1 theme) Best park ever!…read more So I found out this park is just north of Greenspoint and it is the bomb diggety! I has a really nice sand volleyball court that gets hoping after 5:30. There are lots of nice big trees to provide shade and the grass is sticker free. It's quite picturesque on it's own, well taken care of, clean, and most things are in good condition. Sure you'll get your occassional bum or two hanging out in close quarters, and yes the guy hanging around the pavillion did get arrested when I was there on Wednesday, but hey, that just means it's well patrolled and as long as you are minding your own business and with a couple other people, this place is great! I haven't been through much of the other parts of the park but I can spot a large water "park" area with the water that shoots out of the ground and there is a running trail that would be vicious to attempt any earlier than about 7:00 during this time of year. This park really gets going around 6:00 pm, people even bring out lawn chairs to watch the volleyball action. That does mean parking can be a bit hecktic but there is a Fudruckers Northwest of the park that is safer to park at. I guess I give it four stars for the safety factor, but that can be attributed to the overall area that you are in. I had flashbacks to DARE when I had to shag the ball a couple times and run barefoot through the grass - I was pretty sure I had and elevated chance of getting a used drug needle in my foot. But no worries, all is well :) This park is a diamond in the rough for sure!
