I loved this place! You can drive up and have your own single parking space that designates your area to fish by the pond. There is also a picnic table and tash cans. Has everything you need in an area for fishing. Super relaxing and quiet.. you have to make sure you go early or go towards the early evening to grab a spot.. there will be ppl waiting to grab a spot!

Beware of the angry bugs!! We went down the nature trail and it was very spacious plenty of room for jogging or walking. But for me! NEVER AGAIN. Oh hell nahhhh. I had on some shorts that barely went past my knees and the these HUGE flying bugs felt the need to congregate behind my knees as I walk. I took off running they followed me. I started swatting them. I guess they thought it was a game because they kept coming back! Matter of fact, they invited their buddies. It went from 3 bugs to 20. Oh hell nahhhhh. From now on I'm wearing some pants, tight pants, joggers or leggings because them ugly things thought my leg was a d*mn toy. Oh hell nahhhhh. Other than that the park is very nice. Plenty of port-a-potties throughout. plenty of parking space. Plenty of nature trails. Its quite lovely just beware of the angry bugs!

Great park! I loved the access to the river for photos and the San Jac trail was nice but be warned that at least 2 miles of this trail is NOT in the woods, it gets very hot. The dogs are allowed on the river with a 4-6 ft leash, was a great way for them to cool off. We had a great time, just wish I had realized that the trail wasn't completely shaded by trees. Was a fun find!

The fishing was great here! That's the only thing we did so I can't add to other space. The lakes were nice and the breeze and weather was perfect! The fish were jumping all day. We caught catfish, crappie and sunfish. It's a nice spot and it was quiet and didn't have a lot of bugs.

Restrooms on west side of park. Otherwise there's only port-a-potties.

This is a long review because I've worked on it for a long time…read more.. If you asked me to pick one place that defines Houston, it would be Buffalo Bayou Park. I've spent countless hours here running and riding my bike. Some days it's a quick evening jog, other days it's a long ride from Eleanor Tinsley Park toward Memorial Park or connecting through the trails to the University of Houston. No matter how many times I come back, it never gets old. The park has been the backdrop for so many of my favorite Houston memories. I came here for Free Press Summer Fest back in the day, Freedom Over Texas fireworks, the Art Car Parade, Pride celebrations, marathons, half marathons, 5Ks, and even the Texas Independence Relay. It's one of those places that feels completely different depending on the day. Sometimes it's quiet and peaceful, and other times it's filled with thousands of people celebrating everything that makes Houston unique. It also reminds me of some of the city's hardest moments. I'll never forget walking down after Hurricane Harvey and seeing the bayou swollen all the way up to Allen Parkway. It was hard to comprehend just how much water had moved through here. Seeing the park recover over time has been a reminder of Houston's resilience. One of my favorite discoveries has been the Buffalo Bayou Park Cistern. It's such a unique experience and a reminder that there's always something new to explore, even after years of visiting the park. What I love most is how connected everything feels. The trails weave through the city with incredible downtown views, public art, green spaces, bridges, and plenty of places to stop and take it all in. Whether you're training for a race, out for a casual walk, riding your bike, or just enjoying the skyline, there's a reason people keep coming back. Buffalo Bayou Park isn't just another park to me. It's where I've made memories, challenged myself, celebrated with the city, and found a place to unwind. Every visit reminds me why I love living in Houston. I already can't wait for my next run, and I hope to see you out there.

It's so clean and I absolutely love all the wild flowers this time of year. This is one of the best place to bike in the inner loop with the separated biking and pedestrian trails. Connects to the heights and all major neighborhoods. A lovely place to get a walk or bike ride in on the evenings or weekends! There are quite a few manicured grass spots for picnics or to bring a book, as well as shaded areas. I have always felt very safe at this park. A 'not so hidden' gem as parking can be a little tough, but leads to not very busy trails. I never realized how beautiful this park is compared to the days I would only drive by!

This park is small compared to Hermann Park, but its just the right size for kids. They have ping pong, a golf station, few food trucks and climbing stations. Lots of green space for the kids to run around on and play catch, tag, or kickball. There is street parking and also a parking garage right on the other side.

The Michael Jackson playlist serenading us from the Gaspacho's eatery was nostalgic. Even though the Sunset Bingo MC was difficult to hear while seated on the grass, the staff were more than willing to rearrange some tables to accommodate the growing crowd. On my way to the (super clean!) restroom I I saw that they had a reading room, which made me instantly fall in love! They also have an arts & craft station with materials free to use. There were many families with young kids enjoying the water playground areas. The fact that they have family reservations available lets me know that this park is well aware of its draw and appeal. Birthdays? reunions? book a spot! The nearby restaurants and easy parking are major pluses. Levy Park has a packed calendar of events so I'm bound to be back before the summer ends.
