    Spring Creek from the trail

Dennis Johnson Park has plenty of parking and provides fast access to Spring Creek Greenway that allows hiking, biking and horseback riding. The entire Spring Creek trail is paved and is about as wide as a two lane country road. The Spring Creek Trail runs 16 miles along the beautiful Spring creek from I45 and Highway 59. This park and trail access starts three miles from I45 and about 10 miles from Highway 59. We were walking our dog Sunday morning and saw park rangers ride by three times. They have benches along the trail, bathrooms and even water. The long term vision is the trail can be accessed from the Woodlands and ride your bike to Kingwood. Apparently the new Exxon campus is holding that vision up a bit. If you live anywhere close to North Houston, Spring or Woodlands or visiting this is a great outdoor area to enjoy.

Here for a wedding in the largest hall venue in the park. It was fairly easy to find although visible signage was difficult to see. Not to mention our GPS wanted to take us on a much longer tour of the Houston area. The hall itself was fairly large, complete with a kitchen area, and plenty of rooms for dressing. The fireplace was a bonus. All in all a nice place to hold a small event.

This is a very nice park. The actual playground isn't that big, but it's covered which is nice. The fishing pond is stocked with fish and you can see them swimming around. The bass are catch and release but the catfish you can keep with a limit of 3. They have 2 of the gardens with butterflies everywhere. The gardens have benches and shade. They also have a bike trail as well. It is well maintained and they have the Constable Precinct 4 stationed there as well. We have a park in our neighborhood, but this will be our go to park. It's tucked away so it's not crowded at all due to not a lot of people knowing about it.

LOVE IT HERE! Very cute, very quaint and quiet. There's quite a few things you can do here like fishing (catch and release), biking riding, walking/running or just hang out. There's over 2 miles of green pastures to roam and be one with nature. The kids will love it too as they have ample of space to run around and play in or play soccer, as well as a nice playground. I'll definitely returning. So glad I found this little gem.

There is a playground and public restroom here. There are bike trails that connect to other parks. Bike trails are paved so you do not have to have a mountain bike to ride. There's plenty parking and it's relatively safe, as well. The trails are full of trees that provide lots of shade during this hot summer month. This is a nice hidden gem in the spring area.

This is a great park for bike riding. There are a few runners on the trail however I really wouldn't do that, there were times when we'd see coral snakes on the side of the road and once it gets dark, it gets dark quick. Other than that there's a lot of bikers, roller balders and skateboarders. A good time to go would be in the afternoon during the week. There's less people and if you're a slow rider you don't have to worry about anybody running you over. You can easily do 6miles here.

First impressions... police and security in parking lot so felt safety was being enforced right away which is good when you run solo. Everyone had bikes which made me regret not bringing mine. The trails are paved and long. Great place to train for a marathon but a better place for biking. Very clean and well kept. The birds were out but did not see any other wildlife. Parks here and there for the kids. Benches here and there to catch your breath or a view. I'll be back again but with my bike!!

Fantastic place with PAVED, well marked trail winding through the woods along Spring Creek for at least 13 miles connecting I45 and I69. Lots of benches make rest stops easy. Wide trail allows bikes to safely overtake joggers and walkers. Watch out for horseback riders too! They occasionally cross the path. Also bring Fido! Park's path goes past great dog park.

This was my first time at this park. It is beautiful for the whole family. My kiddos 2 and 4 enjoyed playing at the playground. I wish I could be a little bit bigger playground since they have the space for it. No baby swings ..boooo!!

Yes we love this park. I exercise here all the time. Or I'll take my kids to the park and we like to fish here as well. Bathrooms close by.

Definitely wear tennis shoes or closed toe shoes here. The trails are a good mixture of dirt and then some parts are cement. Nice fishing spot as well. Catch and release only. Be careful letting smaller kids near the pond. I have seen a kid slip and fall in. He was okay and got out, but after seeing that I keep an extra eye on my kids if we want to get close to the pond. They have a sand volleyball court. Lots of walking trails. Even behind the trees where a retention pond is. They have covered pavilions with picnic tables and bbq pits. Also love that the playground is covered and kids can play in the shade. That's a MUST for Texas parks!

FYI: the trail is paved and stroller accessible. On the way back, we took another trail which was dirt and had no issue taking the stroller on that as well. Nice playground for kids. There are bathrooms just past the playground. I initially thought they were closed because the gate had the lock still on it (in a locked position) but luckily, someone advised me that they were actually open. So, don't go by appearances and actually tug on the door! There are two relatively small parking lots that fill up quickly but there is also street parking available.

Been here so long ago for a walk and didn't know there was an actual center for visitors to walk in and it's free to explore. My first family visit here, we went on a walk around the trails, where we saw wild blue berry bushes and lots of turtles In the pond. We took some amazing photos. Then I kept telling people about the trails and the ponds and my nature experience. Some days I'd go here and just sit for a while listening to the sounds of the wild. Then one day I went just me and my daughter and saw parents and there kids going and coming from the building and I decided to go see what's there. It was the best idea ever. For the hot days it's so nice to be in nature but still indoors and learn about cool rocks animals and even see and real insects and animals. My daughter loves this place just as much as I do. Great for homeschoolers who wants to learn about science. There are all different types of insects you can view under microscope and some to see in real life, there is a reading nook, building blocks to resemble habitats, aquatic animals and birds. There's also some reptiles that I love to take pics of. It's like a hidden gem. So much to explore, even if you can't make it in time for the nature center which closes at 4pm Tuesday to Saturdays, you can walk or bike around the ponds and see the trail maps for different routes. There is also a kids park.

Now, that was a pleasant surprise for Lulu and me last Saturday. We stayed sitting at one of the tables, watching the games. But there's more here; it's a children's playground, several trails throughout the wooded areas, and the paths are cleared of debris. It's a really clean park, the tables aren't stained. There are plenty of garbage cans throughout. It's plenty of parking; even on Saturday, when the park was packed, we still got a place. I like that the big trees block out more of the sun, giving Lulu more time to enjoy her walks and being nosy. As you can see in the picture, there's a little bookhouse, and I bought some books the other day to drop off. That's the least I can do, my way of apologizing to the ducks and turtles for Lulu barking and wagging her tail at them.

I was hiking alone on a trail once in 2023 and a light green snake rose from the ground and intensely stared at me. This snake was taller than me and I'm 5'6 for reference. The specific trail I was on was connected to the playgrounds. This was a terrifying and honestly traumatic experience; but I wanted to share my experience as a warning because I know lots of people bring their kids and pets there. Please be safe if you choose to go; but no matter how beautiful it is I can't recommend due to safety issues concerning the wilderness. I only walked away from the snake incident unscathed by the grace of God.
