This place was absolutely amazing. They know customer service or what. They called me the week before, the day before and several times the day that I was arriving. They wanted to check on me to make sure everything was fine. It was a no self contact check-in. When we arrived, they had our envelope outside with our name on it. It had our keys in the envelope and what room number we were in. We were able to collect our stuff and use the key to open the front door of the lodge. We walked upstairs and found our room. The room was beautiful, had a balcony to watch over the lake. The room itself, the shower / tub that was large enough for me to sit in is a rarity being 6-7. Each morning they provide breakfast to the members of the lodge. It's a complimentary. They have a pancake maker, milks from soy, 2% to Almond. Cereal, snack items, etc; Then you will meet the nicest staff member ( now they're all very nice ) Mary Ann (I believe was her name), she makes an Omelet with potatoes every morning. She asks what you want and she provides it was hot sauce and other sauces. Every morning we ate there and chatted with her. She provided us items to do around the island. This was our 5th visit to the island in 6 years and 4th in a row. We had did most of the items, except a couple that she mentioned that we didn't do. We learned that the lodge was on 82 acres of properly. We did do a small hike around the property. You have the 3 lakes, but they have 8 log cabins that I counted, Yurts, Airstreams, tents and many other ways to stay on the site. They even have a small general store where you can purchase items from alcohol to food, drinks etc; it's open 9-5 daily. It was our first time staying here. I was very impressed with the place. You were required to wear masks on site. In addition to them having the lodge 50% occupancy. Let me tell you they have wine available. If it's after hours when the staff is gone, you just pick your wine and write down your name, what you took and your room#. How amazing is that. They had some great local wine available. Overall I was extremely impressed with this place. I want to stay here again, next time luck out and get a cabin and bring my entire family. The staff has to be the friendliest I've ever encountered. Keep up what you're doing. You're rocking it..

Thought we'd take the RV to San Juan Island. Paid a lot for the ferry. Made reservations for a business that claims to offer RV spaces. When we get there, spaces are really designed for a small RV or van. They is no dump station. At the site or anywhere on the island. As they also have tent sites with a bathroom, used that. But it's a scam. To return, you need to take the ferry, which wants your tanks empty, and on the mainland, the first two RV parks you come to do offer a dump station, but it costs $50.

Update-- stayed at Lakedale for another perfect weekend & couldn't recommend it more! We love this place! Lakedale is absolutely the best resort we have ever stayed at. The service here is amazing- everyone is so friendly and willing to help. Shoutout to Sarah who makes amazing om We had a perfect weekend staying in the hotel part of the resort but the rest of it is beautiful as well. The resort is about a 10 minute drive from Friday Harbor but feels so remote and serene- exactly what we were looking for! We checked out today and immediately booked our next trip here. Can't wait to come back!! Thank you!

Nice idea, but poorly executed. The "three lakes" are actually ponds with a nice view. Be very careful when reserving a camp spot. Most have no direct parking, you must walk a trail from car to campsite. Most campsites are very small. If you have a larger group or two tents, ask for a family spot. Also be aware campsites are very slanted and uneven. It can make sleeping and set up a challenge. Can't count how many times the kids came crying after tripping over exposed roots and boulders. Bathrooms are just port-a-potties unless you want to hike the quarter mile to the real bathrooms/showers. Having a general store on site was nice and staff was competent.

My husband and I decided to come here for a weekend get-away and it was lovely! We had a room overlooking the lake. It was in mid-March and the resort seemed to be not super busy. The gentleman that greeted us at the check-in desk was very friendly and told us about the different amenities. Our room was clean and we even used the jetted hot tub in the bathroom. They have a lot of dvds to choose from so we borrowed one and it was nice just to relax in the room. For one of the days, we rented two kayaks to kayak in the lake. It was really serene and you get a great view of the resort when you kayak out. The only thing that bothered me was that since their kayaks hadn't been used for a while, there were these little spiders that crawled out from the front once we paddled our into the lake. That freaked me out and cut our activity a little short. The guy that set them up for us did warn us that they hadn't been used in a while and when I said there was a spider web on it he did try to clear it out but maybe it needed a power-wash/rinse. The breakfast was delicious and the lady that made it for us was so sweet and helpful. She talked to us about where we could go whale watching since we told her we had been unsuccessful. Overall, a great experience!

My partner and I had a free week and decided to make a last-minute escape to the San Juan Islands. We found Lakedale Resort on Yelp and were very thankful since many places during the tourist high season run $400+ a night and were already booked! Location: Lakedale is smack dab between Friday Harbor and Roche Harbor on the island's northshore. This allowed us to explore the entire island of San Juan while having easy accessibility to retreat to our peaceful room. The resort is surrounded by multiple lakes allowing for multiple watersports including swimming, paddle-boarding, canoeing, fishing, and more, all for rent in the General Store. Room (Lodge): The resort offers multiple options including camping, glamping (including canvas rooms or airstreams!), lodge rooms and private cabins. Since there were just two of us and we aren't outdoorsy, we stayed in the lodge. All of the bedrooms are upstairs with views of the lake, private patio, a fireplace, kitchenette and a jetted tub. We particularly loved that the lodge was adults only and pet-free. The lobby is pleasant with great views, blankets, a large fireplace, board games, DVD movies and a wine honor bar. Two small complaints of ours were regarding a fair amount of a past guest's long hair on the bathroom floor and in the shower. Also, the walls were super thin allowing us to hear both neighboring room's conversations. Otherwise, the room was very clean and extremely comfortable. Staff: Our lodge room came with breakfast which was fabulous. They had a neat machine that makes fresh pancakes. In addition, there was homemade granola (addicting), fresh fruit, bakery items, cereal, oatmeal and best of all, made-to-order omelets by Maryann Bruno herself. Maryann was the cherry on top for our wonderful stay. She was welcoming, very fun to chat with and had all the secrets on what to see and do on the island. The front desk staff was also very helpful and friendly at check-in and check-out. If and when we return to the San Juan Islands, we would definitely stay here again.

View from our "glamping" campsite! Site 355 is private and in my opinion has the best view!

Snug Harbor Marina Resort - #10 one-bedroom waterfront cabin.

My wife and I stayed 2 nights at Snug Harbor Resort while visiting Friday Harbor…read more We reserved a one-bedroom waterfront cabin seamlessly online. Our total cost was $607.19. Check-in was done at the lobby. At the lobby one will also find a store and a coffee shop. Complimentary movies and games can also be checked out at the lobby to enjoy back at your lodging. The store offers a little bit of everything, from clothing to snacks. Complimentary ice machines are available. Bagged ice can be purchased though. Lower-level parking is limited and was completely full in the evenings. We were lucky enough to get a parking spot every time we returned from playing. Wheel barrel type carts located at the gate make transporting luggage effortless to rooms. Adirondack chairs are scattered about the edge of the property to enjoy sipping a beverage, reading or admiring the view. A fire-pit, community BBQ, picnic area and kids play area help pass the time while on-site. The paly area is at the lobby end for those who do not wish to have quarters near noise. The cabin we were given was number 10, a handicap unit. The very first cabin upon entrance and the furthest from the lobby and play area. Our cabin was clean and well equipped. Snug Harbor provided us the peace that we were seeking at the time. My one suggestion would be to offer fresh baked chocolate chip cookies in the lobby to establish a more personal touch.

Oh, man. This is a tough review to write. First off, there are so many things I really like about…read morethis hotel. The location is great - close to everything in Friday Harbor but not on a street with as much traffic as some others. The customer service is great - just send them a text and you get a response in seconds. The staff are friendly and helpful. Our room interior was good - everything looked clean with plenty of toiletries, cozy robes, and a heated bathroom floor. The bathroom in general was dated. We had a non operational jetted tub that had been converted into a duel faucet rain shower. It was rather weird, but it worked. I also really liked the keyless entry, so no worries about losing your key! Now, my one negative. Our room, and I'm assuming all rooms on this side of the building, abut a loading dock and parking lot for an adjacent grocery store. Every morning at 5am, a semi truck, fork lift, and workers unload the truck. In addition to back up safety alarms, truck engines idling, and workers talking, you also hear the constant rumbling of goods being unloaded. This goes on for HOURS.....starting at 5am. The hotel gives you ear plugs and notes that there is no noise ordinance on the island and notes that neighbors can be noisy and the hotel can't do anything about that. I get it...you can't control noisy patrons or neighbors, but the description given doesn't really convey what is actually going on with this side of the building. Constant, very loud noise and alarms for over two hours starting at 5am. All that said, I would stay here again, but I would make sure any room I book has views of the harbor, and not the back side of the hotel.

It has steps, indoors and out (I found the outdoor steps easier on my bad hip) and it's just a lovely place - nicely decorated and SO clean. Our room was Fidalgo, we had a big soaker tub and kitchen area, I loved having two places to watch tv since sometimes one of you can sleep and the other is enjoying vacation insomnia time. ;) Out back, a walk through a parking lot takes you to King's Market which had everything. We did not find the hotel loud, but they offer earplugs just in case. The mattress was great, seriously- firn enough but with a soft topper or something, we both slept so well.

The grounds -- consisting of about 4 or 5 separate buildings -- had a lovely chill vibe, lots of greenery around the compound, an indoor pool and sauna and a nice array of separate outdoor seating areas. The separate office/lobby was a large but cozy welcoming space with a fireplace, couches and coffee and a comfy spot to relax in. Also, not gonna lie -- accommodations are upscale Best Western level, which again, I have no problem with, but just so ya know, that's 300 greenbacks in high season. Hey, it's an island, I get it, there's not many options; Just throwing it out there. Our Queen Standard room was on the small side, but the bath/shower was perfectly adequate (if a bit dated), as was the A/C, and the bed and bedding was pretty comfortable. The staff too was awesome, cheery and happy to meet any need. We loved the pool and jacuzzi setup, and there's even a little exercise room in the same building. One thing I could have done without were the 5 or so emails I received before check-in, begging me to complete the online check-in form ahead of time, so I could just go right to the room without needing to stop at the office. Didn't work and I still had to physically check in. So yea, that was a pain. And yet? They still get 4 stars. Our one-night stay may have been expensive but it was very comfortable.
