The resort is about 10-15 minutes from the ferry dock and the main part of town. Check-in was all contactless and every information you need about your stay was emailed to you or could be found in your envelop. We stayed at the lodge. The room was large with a balcony looking out to the lake, mini fridge and a wet bar area. The view on the balcony was lovely but the walls that separate your balcony to your neighbors do not go all the way down. Because we stayed at the lodge, our stay came with breakfast. It was a continental style breakfast with freshly made omelet and potatoes. It was pretty good but the wait can be long. I recommend getting in as soon as they open. The stars from the breakfast were the pancakes and their in-house made granola. They had a pancake maker which made perfect little pancakes. And their granola! So delicious. Full of nuts and fruit pieces. They won't tell you the recipe but you can buy per pound to take home. Around the resort, there were lawn games you could play. Bikes, canoes, and pedal boats to borrow. There was a children's activity area and a general store which were closed when we went. read more

Booked a camping spot for a weekend camping trip and had a pretty good time. The booking and check in process was easy. Site was easy to find upon arrival-good signage. Spot was pretty right next to the lake. Although we ended up with a good spot we did not get to choose. It would be nice to be able to view open sites and pick which one you'd like. They had bathrooms and showers a short walk from the site so that was convenient. They are a little spendy though in my opinion. $60 for a camp site is a little steep. I'm used to paying $25ish for a spot in National parks, etc. I get it they have bikes and games included to use during your day so you do have more amenities. Overall a fun stay. read more

We also thought the breakfast omelettes were delicious! A big down side of our stay was the water quality. We were excited to use the tub, which was a significant factor for booking this location, but unfortunately the water came out a yellow/brown. What a hidden gem on San Juan Island! The place is a relaxing, low key, friendly resort. The resort was built in 1999. They have a variety of lodging choices based on your budget and preferences. The main lodge has rooms on two floors (no elevator). Yurts, cabins and campgrounds all also available. No restaurant on site but depending on your accommodations, daily breakfast is included in their dining area. We booked a deluxe king lodge room with a view of the lake and were delighted. Comfy bed, fireplace and deck. So loved it so much we are booked in the exact room next year. read more

I really wanted to love Lakedale on our last visit, but we found it didn't have the same charm. The room was uncomfortably warm and we weren't able to adjust it cooler so I wasn't able to sleep for our three nights at the lodge. I knew my husband and I weren't alone in the struggle after hearing other guests complaining about the same thing at breakfast. To be fair, it felt like the temperature was lowered after their six person group all complained but 75+ degrees in the bedroom wasn't conducive to sleep, even for us coming from Hawaii. We both caught up on lost sleep after getting home - not exactly what you hope for. The water also seemed concerning as the tub filled with brown water. I assume they're on a well, but brown water doesn't seem ideal for bathing or cleaning. Downside - they didn't have gluten free bread in stock for the breakfasts, even after noting the dietary restriction in the booking. read more

This place was absolutely amazing. They know customer service or what. They called me the week before, the day before and several times the day that I was arriving. They wanted to check on me to make sure everything was fine. It was a no self contact check-in. When we arrived, they had our envelope outside with our name on it. It had our keys in the envelope and what room number we were in. We were able to collect our stuff and use the key to open the front door of the lodge. We walked upstairs and found our room. The room was beautiful, had a balcony to watch over the lake. The room itself, the shower / tub that was large enough for me to sit in is a rarity being 6-7. Each morning they provide breakfast to the members of the lodge. It's a complimentary. They have a pancake maker, milks from soy, 2% to Almond. Cereal, snack items, etc; Then you will meet the nicest staff member ( now they're all very nice ) Mary Ann (I believe was her name), she makes an Omelet with potatoes every morning. She asks what you want and she provides it was hot sauce and other sauces. Every morning we ate there and chatted with her. She provided us items to do around the island. This was our 5th visit to the island in 6 years and 4th in a row. We had did most of the items, except a couple that she mentioned that we didn't do. We learned that the lodge was on 82 acres of properly. We did do a small hike around the property. You have the 3 lakes, but they have 8 log cabins that I counted, Yurts, Airstreams, tents and many other ways to stay on the site. They even have a small general store where you can purchase items from alcohol to food, drinks etc; it's open 9-5 daily. It was our first time staying here. I was very impressed with the place. You were required to wear masks on site. In addition to them having the lodge 50% occupancy. Let me tell you they have wine available. If it's after hours when the staff is gone, you just pick your wine and write down your name, what you took and your room#. How amazing is that. They had some great local wine available. Overall I was extremely impressed with this place. I want to stay here again, next time luck out and get a cabin and bring my entire family. The staff has to be the friendliest I've ever encountered. Thought we'd take the RV to San Juan Island. Paid a lot for the ferry. Made reservations for a business that claims to offer RV spaces. When we get there, spaces are really designed for a small RV or van. They is no dump station. At the site or anywhere on the island. As they also have tent sites with a bathroom, used that. But it's a scam. To return, you need to take the ferry, which wants your tanks empty, and on the mainland, the first two RV parks you come to do offer a dump station, but it costs $50. read more

I waited a few years to head to Lakedale for various reasons, but finally took the plunge because I wanted somewhere I could drive to during Covid, and get a glamping experience while not needing to share bathrooms or tight spaces with other guests. Like everyone else, we've had to cancel so much this year, and it was nice to have something to look forward to. The good: It is really beautiful there, and Friday Harbor is one of the best waterfront towns I've ever experienced on the West Coast. At Lakedale, I appreciated all of the activities, variety of lodging choices, and the overall spirit of fun. All of the employees we encountered were super kind and excited to help. If you have a family, this is a great place to take your kids. I can imagine coming here from age 7-14 with friends would have been the best vacation ever. The inside of the canvass cottage we stayed in was super clean and was spacious. I liked the heavy blankets and the bed was one of the comfiest we've ever stayed in. It was perfect to have our own bathroom and shower! The less good: Do not go expecting solitude, especially in the glamping canvass cottages. They're not soundproof, and they're not really spaced away from anything, so you're going to hear everything around you. This also extends to the bathroom. The bed is directly against the wall where the toilet is, so I hope you are super comfortable with your cabin-mate and possibly anyone walking by hearing you do your business. Also, the shower has varying levels of heat, none of which are as hot as the water that comes out of the sink. Having just stayed in another "glamping" type place in Washington, I was also a little surprised by the lack of things like plates or cooking utensils. While they went heavy on the body-care based essentials like lotions, shampoos, and towels, you will have to bring all of your own cooking supplies. The why-is-this-over-$300-a-night: When we first arrived our cabin had that weird chemical odor you sometimes smell in camp sites where there is not a flush toilet. It took a little air freshener and it finally went away, but it was quite strong when we arrived. And I have to reiterate that while I appreciated being able to easily walk to everything, the actual camp sites felt really close, and you can hear the road from many places. They mentioned running at a lower capacity due to Covid. I can't imagine how chaotic it feels when it is completely full. The vast acreage noted on the website didn't translate at all in actual experience. The biggest downer: In my notes when booking, I specifically said we wanted a lake-facing cabin, as we were celebrating our 10th anniversary. So they gave us.....# 5, which the overgrowth and trees completely obscure a direct view of the lake while you're in the cabin. They gave #6, which has a perfect view of the lake, to people who had 3 crying kids and didn't come back until way after 10 at night. I was really bummed out by this after waiting so long to stay here. A single day with a saw would rectify the problem, but please don't charge me the same amount everyone else is paying for a lesser view. You wouldn't pay full price in a theater for a restricted view seat! Overall I would rate Lakedale as great for families and less so for couples. The trip has inspired me, however, to continue to look for other waterfront glamping or cabin stays in the area. Extra tip: Make sure to get your Washington State ferry reservations! If you miss the window for them, you can refresh the search in the two days before and hope a spot opens. We'd originally booked times we weren't thrilled with, and were able to change them to exactly what we wanted just by having one person refresh the search page while the other was driving. And know that it was about $80 for two people with a car under 22 feet, but that was round trip. read more

Was excited to reserve either a yurt or a cabin. Spoke with a someone at the front desk a week ago who was so personable and accommodating. Spent at least 30mins with me describing the property and different types of accommodations. Thought wow, what an amazing service. Fast forward to now. Just called to inquire of a yurt that just opened. The lady who picked up, I believe her name was Aiden (started with an A) was the rudest person, condescending and outright not helpful and complete opposite of the person I spoke with a week ago. I was simply asking and requesting for a specific yurt room. I get it, it's not guaranteed, but her delivery of the message and tone was just plain rude. I tried to ignore and asked about something else. And again, completely useless and no customer service manners. Needless to say, I am not going to book a stay at this place as this lady just ruined it for me. One bad apple can really spoil the barrel, as in this case. read more

Nice idea, but poorly executed. The "three lakes" are actually ponds with a nice view. Be very careful when reserving a camp spot. Most have no direct parking, you must walk a trail from car to campsite. Most campsites are very small. If you have a larger group or two tents, ask for a family spot. Also be aware campsites are very slanted and uneven. It can make sleeping and set up a challenge. Can't count how many times the kids came crying after tripping over exposed roots and boulders. Bathrooms are just port-a-potties unless you want to hike the quarter mile to the real bathrooms/showers. Having a general store on site was nice and staff was competent. read more

Review for the Yurt: Had a friend that booked a small a get away at one of the Yurts here. Was AMAZING. The location was easy to find/get to and the Yurt was great: clean, spacious, comfortable bed and couch bed. The BBQ was clean and the jacuzzi (JACUZZI ON THE DECK!!) was also clean and easy to use. Would absolutely stay here again. Be warned of the mosquitos (the wooded surroundings and the lake are beautiful but so many bugs) but if you're staying in this kind of location I would think you'd be prepared for that sort of thing. My husband and I decided to come here for a weekend get-away and it was lovely! We had a room overlooking the lake. It was in mid-March and the resort seemed to be not super busy. The gentleman that greeted us at the check-in desk was very friendly and told us about the different amenities. Our room was clean and we even used the jetted hot tub in the bathroom. They have a lot of dvds to choose from so we borrowed one and it was nice just to relax in the room. For one of the days, we rented two kayaks to kayak in the lake. It was really serene and you get a great view of the resort when you kayak out. The only thing that bothered me was that since their kayaks hadn't been used for a while, there were these little spiders that crawled out from the front once we paddled our into the lake. That freaked me out and cut our activity a little short. The guy that set them up for us did warn us that they hadn't been used in a while and when I said there was a spider web on it he did try to clear it out but maybe it needed a power-wash/rinse. The breakfast was delicious and the lady that made it for us was so sweet and helpful. She talked to us about where we could go whale watching since we told her we had been unsuccessful. We came here to do the glamping in the canvas cabins. My reluctance to give it a 4 or 5 stars is the price. I get that its a resort and for a higher end experience, I do expect to pay more to have more of the comforts of home as opposed to the full on camping experience. To put it into perspective, I have done the camping where you have to find your own spot to camp, dig your own toilet and haul your own water and food as well as make your own fire. So I have been at the other extreme as well. Not in Washington state, as I would not want to encounter snakes or bears or other dangers of the wilderness. I just had to worry about cane spiders. YUK. That being said, I have to say that for the price, I'm not sure if it's worth the money. For the cost of what would be a hotel stay in Seattle, we were in the canvas cabins, but we had to share a communal bathroom. In the canvas cabins, we had full size beds, a futon sofa bed, and a table and chairs with a fire pit in front of each cabin. Since we went as a group, we did get the canvas cabins that were clustered together, so that was nice that we could all be with each other and not spread out all over the park. We did try our hand at fishing but we did not even get a nibble. I think we needed to go out on the boat and try to fish in the lake instead of from the shore. It was great to enjoy nature and have some quiet reflective time. But I think for the price, we could have gone to Lake Chelan or Alderbrook for a similar experience while enjoying it from a hotel room. I think we would go again, but not as an annual trip. read more

My partner and I had a free week and decided to make a last-minute escape to the San Juan Islands. We found Lakedale Resort on Yelp and were very thankful since many places during the tourist high season run $400+ a night and were already booked! Location: Lakedale is smack dab between Friday Harbor and Roche Harbor on the island's northshore. This allowed us to explore the entire island of San Juan while having easy accessibility to retreat to our peaceful room. The resort is surrounded by multiple lakes allowing for multiple watersports including swimming, paddle-boarding, canoeing, fishing, and more, all for rent in the General Store. Room (Lodge): The resort offers multiple options including camping, glamping (including canvas rooms or airstreams!), lodge rooms and private cabins. Since there were just two of us and we aren't outdoorsy, we stayed in the lodge. All of the bedrooms are upstairs with views of the lake, private patio, a fireplace, kitchenette and a jetted tub. We particularly loved that the lodge was adults only and pet-free. The lobby is pleasant with great views, blankets, a large fireplace, board games, DVD movies and a wine honor bar. Two small complaints of ours were regarding a fair amount of a past guest's long hair on the bathroom floor and in the shower. Also, the walls were super thin allowing us to hear both neighboring room's conversations. Otherwise, the room was very clean and extremely comfortable. Staff: Our lodge room came with breakfast which was fabulous. They had a neat machine that makes fresh pancakes. In addition, there was homemade granola (addicting), fresh fruit, bakery items, cereal, oatmeal and best of all, made-to-order omelets by Maryann Bruno herself. Maryann was the cherry on top for our wonderful stay. She was welcoming, very fun to chat with and had all the secrets on what to see and do on the island. The front desk staff was also very helpful and friendly at check-in and check-out. If and when we return to the San Juan Islands, we would definitely stay here again. read more

Absolutely loved our trip here for glamping!! It's the perfect blend of amenities and camping-make no mistake you are still camping-ish and will need to bring/make dinner over a fire but that's the fun part! The store has everything you could possibly need or want or forgot as well as has boat rentals (and life jackets of all sizes). Breakfast in the tent was just right and the attendant very friendly. What a wonderful place! The location, in the middle of San Juan Island is about halfway between Friday Harbor and Roche Harbor. Quiet, tranquil, beautiful. Whether you stay in one of the glamping options or a room in the lodge, the accommodations are superb. But the customer service is over the top. Carla, Maddie, Jennifer, Carl are all so helpful. Cannot speak to their lodge, but If you are coming here for camping, it is totally not worth it. This place is milking you for all you've got. Camp sites are on top of each other, spread in between picnic tables and toilets. If you roll over at night, you just might fall onto a neighboring tent. To add to the pain, the campsites aren't even prepped l. You basically get a dusty pile of dirt, which is ok for a couple of hikers, but unacceptable for a family with small kids. At least as a hiker in the forest, i would find a flat site, and not be forced to sleep on a hill. This is a total scam of a resort place. Given how impossibly long it takes to come out, you are way better off at any state park off the islands. read more

The owner contacted me after I posted my review. He made some excuses about how there was a change in management and he claimed that their water system works great and is tested by the state all the time. He did not address the pictures I posted or the service I remarked on. He asked me why I waited 11 months to post the review, I told him it was simply due to our finding the pictures on our camera after cleaning out our digital media. There was no offer to refund us what we paid and no attempt to address our specific concerns. After 2 yelp messages back and forth with this guy there was no offer for refund. He wanted us to call him on the phone, which I don't have time to spare for and I don't really want to talk to him on the phone. He called my wife's work phone number since it was what was on the reservation while she was at work. My guess is this situation is due to the lack of robust competition in the San Juan hotel market, they figure they have a lock on the market and can get away with this. Don't let them. There are some better places to stay at closer to and in Friday Harbor itself. read more

Highly recommend staying here! We stayed for memorial weekend and had so much fun. We camped in the canvas tents right on the lake and it was the ultimate glamping experience! They give you warm water packs for your feet at night, supply you with everything you need like a cooler, grill tools, flashlights, a free bundle of wood & travel shampoo and conditioner. Special shoutout to MaryAnn the dining coordinator, she genuinely wants you to enjoy your stay & makes you feel like family. Malcolm at the front desk is probably the nicest person I've ever met and Matt at the general store was very helpful getting anything we needed to our campsite! Great people, great food, great vibe. The ONLY con I have, which isn't really a factor at all, but the wood bundles are a little pricey @ 9 dollars, and the ice is 4.50 a bag. There are a ton of locals selling wood for 5.00 a bundle all over the island so I would suggest you do that, just make sure you have cash as it's an honor system setup! read more

My husband and I spend two nights at Lakedale. We LOVED it with some issues. The first night we stayed in the yurt. The yurt was our favorite of our 8 night trip. The bed was super comfy, the room was comfy, the bathroom was unbelievable, the kitchen allowed us to go to the store and get some things to cook instead of eating out while there. The Hot Tub, oh my goodness!! It was GREAT to have a private hot tub. We LOVED the yurt, but wonder... how will they age? We were in Yurt 7 which I do not recommend. Over 1/2 of the yurt is open windowed with no coverings. We laid in bed and looked out onto the hot tub of the yurt next to us.Which meant, they could look into ours from their deck and see us in bed!! I would have liked a little more privacy! At 3:30 our overhead light came on, got up, turned it off and ... ten minutes later, it came on again. So, we turned off the fan and light. Our yurt surroundings were not great, they were still working on the area, I am sure. There were a couple of downed trees and pipes sticking out of the ground bare and uncovered. Our lake view was NOT pretty at all. The blankets and sheets in the round living room coffee tables did not look clean. They were leftover from the last person. YUCK! HOWEVER, we did enjoy the yurt, perfect? NOPE but nice! Okay, the next night we were in the lodge - UGH!! We had a tiny bed and it was HOT, there was NO Air Conditioning!!! I finally got up and made a bed in the tub which was GROSS, the jets on the tub were distrusting. I did not mind sleeping in it fully lined but no way I would take a bath in it! They were pink/orange around the what were supposed to be white jets. Our lake view from the lodge room was breathtaking AND we had a hummingbird visitor! Staff was nice, but the staff the first night had no clue. She did not know anything about the area around the facility. She said Duck Soup was closed, it was NOT! She was telling us all the places to eat with no directions or help, "Oh there is xxx place out there." Everyone was nice. We had the best breakfast in the lodge. There were gluten free options without being asked for. What a joy and blessing! All in all, I guess I had higher expectations for the price! read more

This review is for the lodge. I was at the campgrounds also, but the one problem that I had at the campgrounds was the bathrooms were not always clean. They clean them once in the AM and once at night, however it was busy last week so I felt it should have been done more often. The lodge was immaculate! Room had a king size bed( I'm only one person) the breakfast was awesome as well as the staff! The place has a wonderful ambiance and is completely booked until the end of September or I would have been back in August with my son and his girlfriend. Love this spot and all it offers. One thing that they could do if they wanted.... Upgrade the bikes available for the guests. They were a bit out of tune and almost unusable. Great staff and spot! read more

I camped there last week for a couple nights and was not impressed. I had high hopes as this resort has a really nice glamping area and had personal referrals on how great that was. I was expecting the camping spots to be nice as well. I stayed in spot #30 and thank goodness I have all wheel drive. I could barely get out of the spot as it was so steep and the road to the campground bottomed out my car as it is very uneven and narrow. For as much as they charge per night I wonder why they don't have better roads. They are narrow and uneven with no turn arounds. The real bathrooms/showers were also very far from the spot, but porta potties closer (still not what I expected for the price). It was a big great site once you got in there at least, but I was worried every time I went to leave that I would break my car. They should ask what kind of car you have before assigning this spot. This actually looked like the only nice spot. They are pretty close to the main road so you can also hear every car that goes by. read more

Perfect old school 1950s style Catskills camp experience. Lots of great outdoor experiences for the kids. Glamping tent was spacious and clean. Group bathrooms could use some updates and I'd prefer a timer over the IR shower mechanism to conserve water. Hard to shower with one hand doing nothing trying to keep the water on. So I gave the airstream a pretty damning review - but we always liked the grounds and the location - and we had a great time in cabins in years past, but this year we tried the Yurts and what a revelation that was. Brand new for the season, it's a pod of identical Yurts - we were in Yurt 4 - which is at the end of the pod, overlooking a lake - with absolutely fantastically thought-out interiors, huge decks and private hot tubs. More importantly - there's a full bathroom with normally operating instantly hot showers and normally flushing commodes, and a pretty well thought out wet-bar with a capacious mini-fridge (no ice maker, but the General Store on the property usually has plenty of ice). Lots of color coordinated dishware, immaculate nouns-tick pots and pans and plates too. Drawers contain most of the things you'll need to user the propane grill (with side-mounted-stove-style burner and huge grilling surface) including silverware, BBQ tongs, spatula eat al. Also - miracle of miracles in any rental - sharp knives. My only tiny complaint is that there's no scrubber or cotton dishtowels, (edit: our yurt had no scrubber but our neighbors fid and I found the dishtowels as I was packing up so scratch that complaint) so all your dishwashing and drying has to be done with paper towels (stocked in plentiful supply). An open plan design (except the bathroom, which is walled off in its own quadrant of the Yurt) means you can comfortably sleep a family of three or four on the massive (King?) bed and the fold out sofa bed. I want to give special props for the detailed thought that went into the design - aesthetics and practical - with great lighting, wall outlets, floor outlets and hanging pegs. There's a sort of open concept dresser with shelves, a tabletop and places to stow things - but no traditional dresser, valet or place to store your clothes out of sight - but that's more of an aesthetic slight than a practical isssue - but we did end up with that half-packed sprawl you get in hotels sometimes. WiFi reception was fast enough to stream 4k HD on the very large flat panel 4k Samsung sets, so we were able to end the evening with a movie night using the Smart TYVs built in apps (REMINDER TO SELF TO LOG OUT OF NETFLIX!) but no cable or even antenna for broadcast channels - if there's something you simply must watch on live TV, head to a bar that's showing it. There's indoor and outdoor dining tables, two moveable coffee tables that double as trays and blanket storage. Both beds are very comfy and the pull out sleeper, particularly easy to use. You can wrap yourself in provided blankets (it is for all its luxury touches, a tent -- and can get comfortably cool at night) to roast s'mores outside, or hop in the hot tub to stargaze if it's clear. We were there during a particularly crisp night, with the Milky Way plainly visible above. Super close to town if you want to run into Friday Harbor for supplies or restaurants, and literally (do be careful on the winding country road) walking distance to Duck Soup Inn - arguably the best restaurant on the island. I almost didn't post this update, because I really want this Yurt to be available to us next time, but I think the word is out. Just awesome. read more

My husband and I usually stay at the Lakedale Resort once a year or so. We love to stay in the log cabins, and have yet to stay in the Lodge. We tried camping during 4th of July one year, and did not want to pay for any extras, like boat rentals or tie dying. We did bring our own fishing poles, and fished for awhile, but never caught anything. If you are an avid camper, like we are, and prefer to camp in wooded areas, Lakedale is probably not the right place for you to camp. We thought that we were lucky to reserve a spot right on one of the lakes, but were surprisingly unhappy with our spot, because there was an extremely loud frog that would not stop croaking through each night of our stay. The staff has always been very friendly during each of our many stays here. We wish that they would do some kind of frequent visitor discount, because we do love to stay here, in the log cabins, but only in the off-season, because of the high peak season prices. On our most recent trip in March, we decided to have breakfast in the lodge, which was complimentary, and delicious. The staff who prepared our made-to-order omelets was so sweet, and stopped to chat with us for a few moments before we left. She gave us some very helpful information about a beach on the island where we might be able to find sea glass. My husband and I also love that this is a pet friendly resort. We look forward to visiting again in the future, and possibly renting a room in the lodge! read more

This is a review for the Lakedale camping: I was really pleased at how friendly & helpful the entire Lakedale staff was for our visit last weekend. Because it was the end of the summer season, the campground was at low capacity and we were able to set up our tent anywhere on a large grass field. It was a beautiful area, right on a lake and with apple trees. The only complaint is that there was a busy road right across the river, so we could hear cars all night long. So much for "desolate wilderness experience", right? I mean, sure, car camping is supposed to be somewhat urban... but still. I wish they had warned us about that, because other parts of the campground are much quieter in that sense. Otherwise, a nice place to camp- $30/night, fire pits, shower facility, and camp store. read more

First the positive. Its a nice place to visit for the most part,its beautiful. The cabins are great. Now the negative. To start off with: My daughter signed a contract for all the cabins,the big lodge and all the yurts when my daughter found out some guests were not arriving they still wanted her to pay for the yurts my daughter called me upset that they were going to make her pay for the yurts, I called them and asked for the manager and they told me they would leave a message for the manager, the manager called my daughter and SAID they would let her out of the contract for the yurts,but that her guests needed to be quiet as to not disturb the other guests. She said ok. My daughter paid 10K to have her wedding there. She signed a contract and made payment arrangements. WE did all the decorations, ALL the food, ALL the cleaning up. It was a 3 day event. There were some guests that did not show up that left 4K of lodging to be paid by her. We get that, She signed a contract,but the next morning when it was time to pay Karla and other staff told her they were not leaving until it was PAID. First of all they cant tell a guest "your not leaving" That is holding someone against their will and that is illegal. My daughter MADE PAYMENT ARRANGEMENTS ON A CONTRACT. They REFUSED to honor any payment arrangements that had been made. It got paid by some family members so it was fine,but the way they were treated was abhorrent. By cabins 3,4,and 5 there is NO lighting, My best friend and my daughter FELL,because they couldn't see. I went to karla and nicely advised her to add some lighting over in that area and she didn't seem to care about the fact that two people had fallen, she went on to talk about something else and ignored what I said. For the amount of money that was spent, all the guests STILL had to pay for the cabins when they arrived. I dont think they should have had to pay at all. It is very expensive to stay there and not worth all that money. read more

We had an incredible 3 night stay at Lakedale during our short visit to San Juan Island. Hidden off in the woods, it gave us an atmosphere of tranquility and relaxation. We stayed in one of the yurts and it was such a relaxing experience, especially waking up to see all the trees around you and listening to the rain pouring on the roof. It was effectively a fresh step out into nature and an escape away from the city despite offering great amenities that you would expect from a hotel and much more. We loved sitting and soothing ourselves in the awesome hot tub. There was a barbecue griller too but we didn't use it. Everything inside the yurt was cozy and gave us a feeling of warmth and a home away from home. The front desk staff were also friendly and informative both on the phone and in person. 5/5 and we would stay here again if we visit San Juan Island again in the future! read more

We were very pleased with our stay at lakedale, the entire resort was excellent. The room was as clean and comfortable as possible, very nice view of the lake, very warm and cozy. The jacuzzi tub and robes were a nice touch. Even the breakfast was awesome. Will definitely be coming back. :) read more

I stayed at the lodge at Lakedale and LOVED IT!!!! We took a 10 day vacation to the Pacific North West and we stayed in many different hotels/lodges and this is by far was my favorite! My room was clean and had plenty of space. The view of the lake was spectacular!!!! I wish I had more time at the lodge. Cant comment on the restaurant because we didn't eat there. read more

I wasn't sure about staying here since the property includes campgrounds and I thought it might be too campy rustic (which I don't find "charming"). But I was more than pleasantly surprised with the lodge here. The lodge lobby and breakfast room are beautifully done and extremely welcoming. The lodge rooms lead out onto the deck overlooking the pine-surrounded little lake, with rocking chairs to sit and enjoy the peace and tranquility. The room itself was also beautifully done up, and most surprising of all - there was fantastic water pressure in the shower (one of my pet peeves is low water pressure meaning longer showers). Breakfast was a delight too - very fresh bagels, and Marianne whipped up a perfectly done fluffy omelet with cheddar, spinach, tomatoes and bacon. I would absolutely stay here again! read more

I stayed over Labor day weekend and there wasn't a part of the trip that I didn't enjoy. The campsite was spectacularly clean especially given the busy weekend and the staff was very friendly and helpful. Inside the resort you have a ton of different activities including Ping Pong, Fishing, and Kayaking on the Lakes. With that said, the resort was quiet and allowed for relaxation at any time which is always nice when you want to turn off for a weekend. All in all it was a blast of a weekend and I'm excited to return! read more

This review is for tent camping. Their signage is slightly confusing. Not all campsites are equal. Ours barely fit our 6 person tent but others are in a huge open field. We at least had trees! If you can, get one by the water. There is not water at your campsite. You have to walk to a pump. The closer toilets are horrible port-a-potties. Let's just say it's worth the walk to the bathrooms. This could be because we went at the end of the summer season. The bathroom has a few showers, sinks, and toilets. They are actually pretty clean. It reminded me of a KOA. The showers though... they are motion sensor activated but the sensor is under the knob. You constantly have to shake your hips or your hand down there because the water stays on for about three seconds. They seriously need to replace the shower heads! The water comes out like hose not connected completely. Water gets everywhere but on you. I've had better showers at state parks or in the rain. I get that your camping but with this camping price tag I expect a decent shower. The activities in the activities tent are slightly pricey. I suggest bringing your own stuff to tie dye or your own activities if you want to. They have a few cute and easy free ones and crayons and things which is cool. They are not joking about no cell service. The only way to charge your phone is by an outlet in the bathroom and it takes forever. Just turn your phone off and bring a camera. It's a pretty cool place and concept but overpriced for tent camping. I would look into other places if I were to go camping on San Juan again. PS: Make ferry reservations!! read more

I love the San Juan Islands. You probably wouldn't like them. The desolation, being in the rainshadow, all that fresh air. Eww. And you would especially hate this place. What's to like? The amazing lodge with it's rustic rooms, big fluffy beds, fireplaces, mile high ceilings, jetted tubs and view of the lake? Totally sucks it. Really obnoxiously beautiful. I just threw up in my mouth a little bit thinking about it. Yetch. Staying here was akin to having needles repeatedly stuck into my eyeballs. Yeah - you should probably just stay away. I like to think a man of fine tastes. I'm okay paying a little extra for a "premium" experience. Yes, Chipotle, I'll have the guacamole on my burrito. Yes, I know it costs $1.95 extra, but I'm okay with that. You see, I am a man of fine tastes. I'll take the Kindle with NO Special Offers, thank you very much. Some things are worth paying for. You see, I am a man of fine tastes, after all. So I'm okay paying $200 for a "glamping" experience. But when I pay $200, which I did for a Canvas Cabin for one night stay, I don't expect to have to walk 500 feet to the bathroom/showers and then be given two tokens for showers, providing me five minutes of showering each. Oh, but it's okay, if you run out of tokens, you can buy them at the General Store. Because that's what I want to do when I am dropping a few hundred bucks on a canvas cabin: buy shower tokens for a public shower. Aside from that, there's a lot to like about Lakedale. The site is lovely, the walk between sites is pretty brief, the staff is super friendly. There's wifi at the lodge, although cell phone reception is spotty (and even started charging me roaming at one point). One downside (or upside, depending on how you look at it): There's no illumination on any of their paths, so you must bring a flashlight. Especially if you want to get to the bathroom at night. If I'd paid half the amount I did, I would be ecstatic about my experience. But don't charge me $200 and then give me shower tokens. I'm a man of fine tastes. read more

I absolutely loved my stay at Lakedale. I was there for a 5-day knitting retreat and the staff was very accommodating for our needs (we took over the entire place). The setting is serene and gorgeous - nestled in the woods overlooking a small private lake. Many of the rooms in the lodge overlook the lake - mine was on the ground floor and opened out directly onto the deck. The lobby features a giant fireplace (which was going the whole time we were there in chilly April) and huge windows that seemed to bring the outside in. My room was lovely - beautifully appointed with a jetted tub and fireplace. Full breakfast is included, and always had several options including scrambled eggs, oatmeal, a variety of breads, cereals and fruit, and even a pancake maker. The staff is very nice and helpful. A word about the negative reviews - please note they are all about the campsites. Stay in the lodge. You won't regret it. read more
