The general store was well-stocked, Cameron at the front desk was helpful and friendly, and we loved being able to rent kayaks right on-property. Beautiful Spot, Great Vibe -- But the Bar and Service Miss the Mark This place could be amazing -- the location is beautiful and there's a genuinely fun, welcoming family atmosphere. You can tell someone put care into creating a space that feels relaxed and enjoyable. Unfortunately, that's where the good news ends. Disappointing - I rarely leave negative reviews, but this experience was too frustrating to stay silent. I ordered a Chardonnay and was shocked to see the pour -- a measly 4 oz for $7.99. That's barely more than a tasting sample, and certainly not what you'd expect for the price. To make matters worse, they informed me there was a two-drink limit per hour when I asked for another glass 1hr 45 min later at the outside table with my family. I politely asked for another glass and was refused, despite being completely sober, weighing over 190 lbs, and standing 6 feet tall. There was no reasoning, no discussion -- just a flat-out refusal I can't serve you ar this time. The staff's tone? Cold at best, condescending at worst. If you value fair service, reasonable pours, and basic respect, I'd suggest you take your business elsewhere. Friendly staff? Not quite. Overpriced micro-pours and arbitrary limits discriminating absolutely. Cabins are cute but then that's the only little bar/ convenience store on the property so it really ruined the flavor of this cute place. You've been warned. read more

Came back to West Beach resort this time with a wife and dog. Wiser this time to get an RV spot (46). Camp site was fine and all the hookups worked as expected. PSA for Tesla owners that RV adapters don't work well on the mobile charger. No loud construction noise at this spot. I also noticed bug traps placed in the trees, which certainly seemed to be working. Campsite boundaries still somewhat ambiguous, but it wasn't a problem. The WiFi was vastly improved from last time being super speedy throughout most of the grounds. We rented a kayak this time around and that was a good experience. Also caught some fish for fun off the dock. You could sight fish even with the water conditions, which was cool. Maybe next time I'll get a cabin. read more

I've been to the island several times and somehow never stayed here before! Came for my partner's birthday with our dog (only certain cabins are dog-friendly, so plan ahead)... could not possibly have loved it any more. (Well maybe if the geese would have piped down in the morning but that can't be helped!) BBQ'd the first night on our porch (bring coal or purchase at the store), ate breakfasts every morning at our picnic spot on the beach, prepared in our kitchen, which was fully functional and well-stocked with the basics. I'd recommend bringing any specialty spices (they provide basics like cumin, salt, pepper, garlic powder), and cooking oil (only PAM spray provided), but otherwise they had everything we needed. Didn't use the oven during our stay but everything else worked well. We got fancy coffee drinks at the store one morning - these and the island-made ice cream were such a treat! The resort is a short drive to town so we dined out the second night. Firewood provided for beach fires in the evening - makes for a neighborly vibe as most people are doing the same thing and cabins are close to each other. We didn't do any of the available activities (including hot tub bc it was too warm during our stay) aside from ping pong - next time would love to stay longer and make use of everything! read more

We stayed at West Beach Resort for Labor Day Weekend in September and had a great time! We stayed in Tent Cabin 7 that has a view of the water and is just a short walk to the beach. We arrived late Friday night and were able to just pull up to our tent and check in with the resort in the morning. We left Monday morning at 10am to grab breakfast at the ferry terminal and get in line for the ferry without a reservation. The tent was furnished with a futon, queen sized bed, table, two chairs, and two night stands. It also came with a bundle of firewood, fire starter, matches, and treats for our dogs. It slept the four of us and our two small dogs comfortably. Outside the tent there was a firepit, two adirondack chairs, a faucet, and a power outlet. We had cell phone phone reception which made it convenient to research what we wanted to do on the island. The convenience store was well stocked and they even delivered firewood to our tent when we ordered from the phone app. The bathrooms were well maintained and clean. For activities, we drove out to Moran State Park to see the overlook from Mount Constitution and walked around town that was just a 10-15 minute drive away. On the resort we rented a crab pot for a day and caught crab off of the pier that we cooked over the fire. The water was so clear that we could actually watch the crab going into the crab pot. Overall, it was a very relaxing trip and a great way to go glamping for the first time. The tent accommodation was pricey but very lovely. I would definitely recommend it for those who want to try a more comfortable version of camping. It was also great that they were dog friendly because I found very few glamping or tent accomodations were dog friendly in the San Juans. read more

Just camped at West Beach over July 4th weekend. It was absolutely amazing, BUT the campsites were infested with some of the worst mosquitoes I've ever encountered. We have camped on Orcas three other times at Moran State Park near the lake and never experienced a bite. These mosquitoes bit us right through our clothes, so campers beware. Otherwise I would give West Beach a five star review. Beautiful location, very courteous and helpful staff and ICE CREAM! Lopez Island ice cream every day on their beautiful pier was the best. Also, we got to see an otter and a seal while paddle boarding at their beach. That was magical. read more

First time here! Have the fam in an RV and it's super quiet and safe here! There's a small grocery shop at the customer service center, lots of pamphlets to help you decide what activities you'd like to do. The resort is along the water with a breathtaking view of the mountains on both sides, and there's a beautiful dock with outdoor seating. The ladies at the front desk were friendly. This was the perfect little glamping getaway to an absolutely gorgeous spot!! I took my dog and set up camp at my designated site - each site has a picnic table and fire pit (and they provide wood if you want) - and the beach is just a short walk away. The views are stunning, the little ice cream/espresso stand/bar is cute, and it's the most peaceful and beautiful place to sit on the beach or on the dock, enjoy a drink, and watch the sun set. Definitely family friendly and safe, everyone was taking safety precautions for COVID as well. I'm used to backpack camping and this was so easy and fun. There are some great cabins right on the water too, with their own fire pits, if you want to spend a bit more money. Close drive (~7 min) to Eastsound as well. We stayed for a week in July at the Farmhouse. Just the 2 of us and 1 pet. We've since learned that we were very fortunate to find the Farmhouse available during our anniversary week and what a wonderful week it was! The farmhouse was so clean and inviting, with a "Happy Anniversary" card (with a gorgeous sunset view of the dock), fresh flowers, and two towel swans that formed a heart on the bed - So thoughtful! The Farmhouse was 3 bedrooms/2 bathrooms (with 2 showers, no tubs). There's a well stocked kitchen with plates, cups, glasses, silverware, cooking utensils, pots, kettle, toaster, microwave, oven, and dishwasher. There's basic spices in the cabinet and ice cube trays in the freezer. You'll want to bring foil, plastic wrap, and charcoal (and lighter) but if you forget any of that, the resort has a small store with these supplies or the supermarket is about 10 minutes away. The master bedroom is very spacious with a very comfortable bed and wonderful view. There's a couple of dressers and nightstands available. The master bath is weirdly large but it works. The shower is modest and might be on the small side for bigger people. The much smaller bathroom has a toilet and sink, there's a small shower just across the hall from that. I'm 5'2" and had to bend a little to get my head under the shower water but this would be great for kids! We didn't use the 2 smaller bedrooms but they were great sizes for kids. No dressers but they did have small closets available. There's a wood burning stove that's just delightful at night, warms the living area/dining table area really well with a small amount of wood. There's a fire pit outside...bring bug spray. The front deck is the best place ever! It's very big with a full sized picnic table and a beautiful view of the ocean and dock. It's also great because you can see if the hot tub is available! On our 1st day, we bought matching shirts, we were ready to commit to WBR only 2 hours in and it was then that we met Tom! We'd end up buying more chili cheese dogs than I care to admit when he was working the snack bar and enjoyed having what felt like hours of great conversations with him and his adorable wife Christy - they really made us WBR newbies feel more comfortable amongst all of the seasoned returnees. Over the week we bought 4 more matching shirts/hoodies), delicious ciders, ice creams, and coffee! Kind of felt like kids with all those treats and it was perfect being able to charge it to our room (loved not having to carry money around). Getting the opportuning to enjoy the hot tub was so relaxing, especially getting to stare out into the ocean! So many ways to forget about responsibilities...just enjoying Island Time! We played ping pong, spent time in the hot tub, shared drinks at the dock, walked the beach, enjoyed nightly fires...this was such a relaxing anniversary get away! We enjoyed driving into town for a couple great meals, groceries, and a round of mini-golf. Before we left, Tom gave us exciting details for booking this week/cabin again next year and how to make WBR a new anniversary tradition (and we did!)! read more

10/10 would recommend for families, getaway with friends, or a vacation with your hubby! I went with a group of 5 and stayed in one of their 1-bedroom cabins which slept 5 people (2 people in the bedroom, 2 on the futon, and 1 in a sleeper cove) and we got cabin 15. There's a secluded fire pit and deck-one of my favorite places to enjoy morning coffee and meals- as well as a stairway down to the beach. It had a view of the water but was also hidden to other camp goers. We enjoyed lots of hours fishing off of their dock, floating around on our inflatables, playing provided ping pong, and eating Lopez island ice cream! Check in/out was a breeze and they were quick to respond to needs (they have an app you can use to make requests-I requested extra pillows and shampoo and it was hand delivered to our door in 10 minutes). Lots of things to do on the island if you have a car- we took a half day trip to the San Juan islands and went to the other side of Orcas island to Mount Constitution to the viewpoint. Overall, a great getaway from the city life! Only tip is to have food planned out- there's not a whole lot of close restaurant options and cooking is half the fun! read more

We stayed the weekend in studio 16, a garden spot with a nice view of the water and a dock to watch the wildlife. It was February so I don't recall seeing many other guests which was nice because some of these cabins are pretty close together. The room had some convenient amenities with a small fridge, glassware and utensils. They have a coffee maker but you have to get the coffee from their on-site store. Unfortunately they did not have a blow dryer in the room which was very inconvenient. We enjoyed the fire pit and they provide a nice setup of chairs. Overall a nice stay for something basic, would consider staying again if we're ever back on Orcas. read more

We're not there for the internet, but on a rainy day... Slower than dial up! I absolutely love this place. I came here to go glamping. It was so nice to have everything I needed without having to set it up. The amenities are by no means a bare minimum--there are hot showers that are coin operated (~5min per quarter, you can dump a bunch of quarters in at once to keep it running). Onsite there is a childrens playground, good coffee and ice cream (cafe vita and lopez island creamery), and kayaks for rent. For me the cherry topper is that they are also dog friendly. I felt it was worth it to have a sea view. You can see the ocean from you tent/campfire site. The beach feels private to the campgrounds/resort. And the food in town is really good--highly recommend new leaf, which is a ~7min drive from the campsite. Can't say enough good things about my getaway experience to Orcas Island with West Beach! The staff are super friendly and helpful. read more

$200 a night to vacation in a tiny, make-shift shed on a property more suited for homeless squatters than vacationers affording a $1500 a week vacation. My son and I came to this place thinking of the fun we'd have fishing, crabbing and relaxing. The photos of this place look great. Idyllic actually. Unfortunately the reality is... this place is a slum camp site. For $200 a night, we were crammed into a shed that barely fit a bed. We had to shimmy around it to get to either the make-shift "kitchen" - this included a tiny sink, a plastic coffee maker and a microwave. Shimmying to the other side of the room to the bathroom. 2 hours after arriving - it being dinner time - I was preparing what I could with what little "kitchen" equipment available and without warning... management shut off our electricity. Then, within 30 minutes the septic tank was 'backed up' and needed the septic truck to roll up. I expressed my deep disappointment to the management, who never once apologized or offered any remedy whatsoever. I had to tell management - who only gave his name as Jamie - that I expected a discount on the night. He very rudely agreed to a ridiculous 10% discount and was quite possibly the rudest resort owner manager I have ever met. $200 a night to vacation in a tiny, make shift shed on a property more suited for homeless squatters than vacationers affording a $1400 week vacation on the bay. After having been harassed by this company for 1/2 the week's deposit two weeks in advance of our visit, I was expected to pay the entire balance of the week 5 minutes after arriving, before even stepping foot into the shed. No wonder. West Beach management must know what a slum they're trying to pass off as a resort. Still with no electricity and a septic problem in the first 3 hours of our stay, I decided to look for alternative lodging. When I broached this decision to Jamie, the slum lord, he told me I would be forfeiting my $700 deposit. To this news, I was aghast and in disbelief but this tacky, rude, back-water-bred 'manager' Jamie was serious. I have yet to hear from this 'manager' with an apology, or the $500+ he owes me. Disgusting. Disgusted. Don't even think about coming here and spending your hard-earned money. On the upside, we were graciously welcomed by Rosario Resort and spent our vacation there and LOVED every minute. Please don't waste your time with trailer trash and slum lords. Excellent place for a small group of friends to go for a relaxing getaway. Five of us girls rented cabin #18 this past weekend, and had a great time. When we arrived, there was a checklist of all the things provided... right down to a fly swatter, grease bucket (huh? why?), and TWO whole butter mints (we weren't sure if we were supposed to eat them though....so we left 'em ;-) ) Though the cabins are a little close to one another, we had our own huge lawn (great for laying out in the gorgeous weather while detoxing from the previous nights over indulgences) and a fire pit looking out over the water. The website says this particular cabin sleeps seven, but only five would get a real bed (two doubles and a twin)... the other two would have to make use of the couches. The kitchen had most of the basics, though we were dismayed by the lack of a baking sheet or tinfoil... (how the heck was I going to bake my buffalo wings??!?!??? Don't worry... sheer brilliance: we had a grill...which incidentally, makes for delightful buffalo wings.) As is standard with any cabin I've ever rented... the knives are DULL... bring your own if that sort of thing bugs you!!! I especially enjoyed the fact that we never ran out of hot water for the showers....there was a heater in the bathroom (yay!), the shower/toilet room had no mirror (thus getting the group primper who shall remain nameless out of the bathroom MUCH faster). We had every intention of kayaking (you can rent right there) and doing nature things, but it's amazing how quickly we lost our resolve to be remotely active. As it turns out, we spent all weekend lolling around, snacking on yummy junk food, playing dominoes, reading, trying to find the very vocal bullfrog we named Ruprecht, learning how to say "Hello melon head. Please get the monkey off the record player" in Spanish, and catching up on each others lives. Good stuff! Oh yeah... so, I thought we were pretty quiet, but as it turns out, somebody filed a noise complaint on us. Harrumph! The manager was super cool though, and said they weren't sure it was our cabin that was making the noise... we pointed the finger at our nice neighbors (I could have been drunk, but I'm pretty sure one of them was named Urinaria or Urina, or some variation on Urine), and they totally blamed us... harr. For a mere FIFTY DOLLARS, you too can get the following sweet camping extras at West Beach "Resort:" - Sleeping ergonomics! A helpfully sloped place to pitch a tent! - Easy eavesdropping on your neighbors! Learn all about the life of the American teen by overhearing conversations going on in the "tent cabin" 6 feet from your designated campsite! - Watch 8 people you don't know crammed into the tiny hot tub advertised by the "resort!" It's way more fun to watch, rather than soak! - Use up those quarters you'd been saving for parking meters by pumping them into the shower, because hot showers aren't included in the $50 price! read more

I have a mixed review of this place. I mean, it is absolutely stunning and gorgeous there so that makes up for a lot of any of the not so hot feedback I have. Other positives: We stayed in the canvas tents and the bed was very cozy and I was warmer than I was expecting to be (granted, I did bring an extra blanket for the bed). The space was generous and the futon was wonderful for extra comfy seating. I was also very pleased that it came with a broom and dustpan. I was also happy that it came with a bundle of wood, despite the fact that there was really only one burnable piece in the bunch (it was light wood and small pieces so the whole bunch didn't last an hour or less on the fire). Although we didn't rent any kayak or boats, the pricing seemed quite reasonable. Had the weather been better during our stay, I would have definitely taken advantage of that. Here is what I wasn't expecting, for the price of staying in the tents (it cost $400 for three nights) Other regular tent campers staying RIGHT on top of us (in between the canvas tent units). I was expecting there to be two chairs by our fires (this is something they seem to take pride in describing on their website), but we were offered only one and it was not corrected, even after I asked the front for a second chair. Upon arriving our first night and starting a fire, we had to clean out the fire pit which was full of a melted glass bottle and several pieces of plastic, I assume from the previous camper. I would have expected that to have been cleaned out. Same with the grill... no unwanted items, thankfully, but so full of ash, we had to clean it out ourselves in order to put briquets on to cook. The bathrooms were decently maintained and clean but were constantly out of toilet paper. For the price of this place, I would have expected the bathrooms to have toilet paper. And maybe, just for class, to have it actually put in the roll instead of just a half roll set up on the back of the toilet. The front desk staff was not very friendly. The woman I dealt with mostly certainly wasn't rude necessarily, but she seemed put off or put out and I couldn't get a smile out of her no matter how hard I tried. I'd definitely come back to the islands again, but I'm unsure I'd spend the money for the canvas tenting again. I'd either try a cabin or another spot altogether. read more

I think next time we'll try to make reservations earlier and get a spot in Moran State Park - their campsites are much more scenic and cheaper. Here's my take on West Beach: THE GOOD + right on the beach + clean bathrooms + decent price by Island standards ($27/night in peak season) + volleyball, kayak, and bike rentals + hot tub THE BAD - none of the campsites are well delineated (even the non-overflow ones are unclear and close together) - folks bring A LOT of crap with them here and spread it out all over the place - shower temperature can't be adjusted, and they're HOT - kids, dogs, and big trucks everywhere (fine for some; not for us) OVERALL I think the place is best suited to families with dogs, large groups, and large camping infrastructure. It doesn't feel much like you're "getting away from it all" when folks in enormous RVs are right next to you projecting kiddie movies onto the side of their trailers for all 13 cousins to wriggle and giggle through. It's not a place to party, either - they're pretty strict about the 10pm-9am quiet time. PS Beware the cell phone issues: our T-Mobile was non-existent in some areas, and switching over to Rogers (Canadian) in others. Gorgeous location with fabulous rustic cabins! Spent a four day weekend on one of the one bedroom Ocean View Cabins, which I recommend for couples. The Beach Front Cabins are nice for families or groups, as you don;t have as much privacy. We had a great view and a bonfire pit! Had a wonderful time grilling each night and dinner on the patio. The cabins are pretty basic, but well kept and cleaned. I really liked that they felt rustic. All of the staff was very friendly and helpful. No issues. The location is prime to get to East Sound or any where. Highly recommend. The only note is that this is really suited for families and pets. The quiet hours were honored,so no loud late nights! read more

This place could so easily receive a 5 star review from me, but we had one massive problem. The showers are set at a fixed temperature, and are never anywhere close to comfortable. First shower- scalding hot, to the point of being dangerously close to needing medical attention. Second shower- freezing cold. After a long day on 48 degree Puget Sound water, I could have really used a hot shower. Then, for the next two months, the temps varied between lukewarm to scalding hot. This is really unacceptable for a place with so much potential. The moronic manager who decided to remove the customer's own ability to adjust their shower should be FIRED. read more

I stayed in cabin #5 for a 3 day weekend. It's an ocean front cottage literally 50 feet from the water. I was able to hear the water the entire time - especially great at night while falling asleep. Rustic (but not overly so) cabin that offers all the amenities you'd expect in a cabin, minus the TV. Nice touch was the bundle of wood they provided. You'll need the fireplace on colder nights as the baseboard heaters can't keep the main room warm with the peaked ceiling. The ocean front cabins are fairly close together so don't expect total privacy. Get one of the ocean view up on the hill for that. The only downside was the bed was only a queen and not a king. Great sunset views and a very friendly staff make this a must see place and a great value. read more

We spent a long weekend here with my family. We stayed in the Farmhouse, which is a three bedroom cabin. The bathroom set up was odd, but convenient. There was a little corner half bath with a toilet and sink (and tiny mirror), a second half bath that just had a shower and a mirror, and a third bathroom with everything in one room. The beds were hit and miss, the king bed was VERY hard, the smallest bed was very soft (and had badly fitting sheets) but the middle room had a comfortable bed. The kitchen was small, but had all the necessities provided, and you could borrow specialty things from the desk. They offer kayaks, canoes, fishing poles and crab pots to rent. Their prices are reasonable and their staff is very helpful. Sometimes too helpful. I understand the allure of getting to know your guests year after year, but when there are only two people working in the office/store/snack shop, stopping to chew the fat with EVERY customer means that everything takes double the time it should. The grounds are beautiful and there is a lot to see just wandering around the property. I would go there again, but the whole trip to get to Orcas, whether by boat or ferry is too much for a long weekend. read more

Awesome location and great staff! We stayed in a 2 bedroom cabin (#12) which is beach front and, the "nicest pet friendly cabin" at the establishment! You could tell it was pet friendly because the sofa stunk of pee, but everything else inside was great! The kitchen is fully stocked and you can rent a TV and DVD player if you / your kids need it. They have a "private" beach area but, directly along side of our cabin (Cabin 12) is a public road to the public beach. That being said, there is a constant flow of people driving past the cabin at all hours and parking outside the bedroom window (this was never explained to us prior to checking in). The other issue we had was they did an annual cleaning of their water system (something else they failed to mention until we had already unpacked and they stuck a note on the front door and clearly said "do not drink"). With their annual cleaning system they flush their pipes with heavy amounts of chlorine, causing discolored and foul smelling water. They didn't offer us any bottle water for our dogs or cooking and didn't give us a price break for the inconvenience. Also, you are extremely close to the cabins around you, maybe three feet of space separates them. That being said, any outdoor smoking you can clearly smell. The last issue was, there is a daily pet cleaning fee of $35. The issue with this, is they don't clean the cabin until you leave. Basically, the roughly $250.00 a night would have been better spent at an AirBNB. read more

I've stayed here 3 times before, but as the resort ages it's starting to lose its character and hospitality. Their water sport rental equipment had very strange and limited boundaries of where you could go. The paddle boards having a square area of 50 yards. The rentals were about $30 an hour and for such a small area you could go it didn't seem worth it. The resort itself has become less and less dog friendly sadly, not allowing dogs on the water. I loved it. There was a amazing sunset views in the afternoons that left you dreaming! Everything was so convenient there that you didn't have to leave for you duration there and that is exactly what we did. Stayed five days on the beach and 2 in town. Didn't leave the resort once until check out. Correction left once for an unbelievable whale watching trip on Outerislandx.com. Fantastic week. Cant thank you enough for the amazing weather we had last week. We will certainly be back and with more friends and family. read more

Weve stayed here multiple times over the past few years and every time our experience has been wonderful. Staff are always super nice and ready to help out with anything you may need. Cabins are comfortable and come with everything you will need already stocked. Beach is quiet and peaceful. Coffee in the coffeeshop is great too! I like that they are taking extra covid precations as well. read more

The location is great, right on the beach. However, there are so many little things wrong with this place and a few bigger ones that I just cannot recommend it and suggest that you stay elsewhere. The little things: it's very muddy and there is no decent door mat to wipe your feet before tracking dirt inside; the shower is tiny and you can't turn around in it; the lights in the living room are so dim you can't read; The living room furniture is old and very uncomfortable; the stove top is so small you can barely use more than 1 pan/pot at a time; the one bundle of wood given to us for 4 nights didn't burn; the cabins are right on top of eachother. There's plenty more, but you get the idea. Bigger issues: the Wi-Fi is absolutely useless; construction was being done on a nearby cabin every day making lots of noise; the mattress was old and lumpy; someone drove over a water valve on the property and we had no water for hours (I'd chalk this up to an unforseeable accident, but the resort should take care that a valve couldn't be destroyed by someone driving a car). All of this would have been tolerable if I had not spent over $800 for 4 non-weekend nights in the off-season. Your money would go a lot further elsewhere. I will not return. This is my add on response to the response from the manager below: I did compare prices between all online travel sites and West Beach directly. Expedia was the least expensive. As I said in my review, your resort should have taken care to protect the water valve so that a driving car would not be able to break it. Also, you say that the staff worked through the evening but then said it was fixed in just over an hour. Which was it? I can tell you that there was no water for a few hours. I know that there is a reading lamp and a hanging lamp in the living room. My comment said that the bulbs in the lamps were so dim I couldn't read. A well-run resort would address that. I wasn't complaining about the mud. I was stating that there wasn't a decent door mat to wipe your feet before tracking the mud into the unit. A well-run resort would address that. I reiterate, the wi-fi is useless. There is absolutely no way we would have been able to stream anything. In fact, we had to electronically sign some important documents and could not do it from our cabin. We walked to the office area and still was unable to do it. We ended up having to drive to town to get a decent connection. Reading other reviews (even good ones), wi-fi is an issue. A well-run resort would address that by upgrading the wi-fi or not advertising "free wi-fi". You are very surprised that we heard noise? Have you ever heard the sound of saws and drills while sitting outside of a cabin 150 feet away? The point of a trip like this is to get away for some peace and quiet. I notice that whenever you get a less-than stellar review, you make excuses instead of addressing the issues that customers bring up. It would serve you well to take responsibility for the resort that you are supposed to be managing. Suggesting that I upgrade to another lodging option at your resort is a ludicrous response to my review. Again, I will not be back. I wasn't sure what to expect when I booked this place, because I admittedly waited too long to book a cabin for five adults and three dogs! I got super lucky that there was availability -- they must have had a cancellation as they allowed us to rent the Farmhouse for just two nights at the height of tourist season. The Farmhouse is crazy big -- the master bedroom could easily serve as a sitting room! It's not the most super-outfitted place in the world, but it's charming and very laid back, which I appreciate when I am traveling with dogs. In other words, while the place was super duper clean, there wasn't a miles-long list of what/where the dogs are not allowed to do or go.That made it all a lot more relaxing. It's on a big, open yard, so a good idea is to bring an x-pen like my sister did and bungee that over the front porch exit so humans and animals can hang out together on the very large porch. Speaking of that porch, I would have liked more chairs. There were three outdoor chairs total (two Adirondack and one of those cheap resin chairs that are everywhere, but comfy). There is also one picnic table by the firepit and one picnic table on the porch. I could have brought chairs and wish I would have -- I expected far more for a cabin that sleeps up to 8! Secondary bedrooms were small but serviceable. The kitchen is yellow and retro and I liked it. There is a ginormous bathroom off the master bedroom that has good amenities (I liked the towels) and a nice strong shower. They need to add a better shower curtain, though, as the shower hits the curtain straight on and the floor gets very wet. There is also a second small bathroom with a tiny, hilarious old shower closet -- not great for tall people, but it worked. The place feels like a summer camp, with the smaller cabins spaced close together along a little gravel road next to the water. But it was kind of lovely, actually. A big long dock lets you hang out over the water, there are boat rentals and tours that leave from the dock, and there is ice cream and craft beers in the store! We didn't use the hot tub, which is shared by all. They gave us a survey to fill out and it looks like they are planning to add more "hot tub zones." I would prefer they just add a few hot tubs to a few of the cabins -- I prefer not to tub with strangers. Staff was extremely friendly. We are planning to go back. read more

We rented Cabin 1 for two nights with our 6 month old puppy. Cabin #2 was rented to two women who had four dogs. Every person that walked by and every dog that walked by, gets all four dogs barking. They didn't have their dogs on leashe. I talked to the woman at the front desk Sunday and she said she would tell the manager. Today, the dogs were worse than yesterday. You start to relax and the dogs start barking. You walk outside and the dogs start barking. We can't sit outside with our dog because the dogs are so over reactive and make it impossible to relax. Worst experience ever for us staying at a cabin and the staff doesn't seem to care as 2 of the dogs followed the owner to the store yesterday multiple times. Finally, we called the manager, Jamey, left a message and then 2 of the dogs were leashed late this evening. Jamey called us back and said the dogs should have been leashed. He didn't offer any remedy to our ruined vacation. Too little too late. Our stay was ruined. The cabin is not worth the cost (over 350) - no counter space, no place to plug in the toaster, freezing bathroom (baseboard heater does not work) and bedrooms big enough for a bed only, no hangers either. We are very disappointed and wish the ferry ran more often so we could go home sooner. read more

You just can't get a vacation destination like this anywhere in the Pacific Northwest: kids "off the leash" and still safe; making lasting friends out of your neighbors; nightly smore's campfires; waves lapping at the shore for your nighttime lullaby; peaceful mornings for your coffee; unbeatable views; occasional Orcas in your front yard; the best sunsets ever; and Lopez Island Ice Cream at your beck and call! We highly recommend it for kids of all ages. read more

This is a great family getaway. So many things to do on Orcas Island. We did the Glamping and it was so comfy. We just missed the rain but if it did, we could still stay in the tent and play cards. We did see some amazing sunsets at the Island Cafe. read more

to be clear, I am reviewing he campsite in December. It probably should not be open at all in the winter or else steeply discounted. It is not until you have made your reservation that the confirmation tells you that there are no showers or flush toilets in the winter. Not until check in do they tell you the wifi probably does not reach the campsite. The campsites are a mud hole and there are no gravel or cement pads. This is only campsite I have been to in 30 years of RV camping that charges extra for pets ($7). There is a reason they don't show the hot tub on the website. It is a pretty ordinary 8 person fiberglass tub... in case you were expecting a rustic wood tub, go the the other side of the island to Doe Bay for $15 tubs and sauna. The cabins look to be really great and cozy at a fare market price but this is a review of the RV camping. read more
