Pups

I use their dog walking service and they take wonderful care of my pups and are very reliable! My pups are always happy to see them and I love that I get a report on how the visit went.

Extremely effective training. I won't take my dog anywhere else. I had an obnoxious German Shepherd and now he is so well behaved!

It's all due to Kim and her positive reinforcement, patience while she (ok, we) work and learn to be better.

At the same time, you want to shout from the rooftops how INCREDIBLE it is! We couldn't fathom the idea of our dog staying locked up in a kennel all day, and like a previous reviewer we were lucky enough to find Joe through a recommendation of another boarding facility. He is truly a dog lover and it shows. He spends time with the dogs like they're family - exactly what any dog owner would hope for when they're away. His place is beautiful, peaceful and honestly a dog heaven. It's the total opposite of a traditional kennel where the dogs look like they're so bored they're going crazy. We drive about an hour away to take our pup here and would not even think about going anywhere else.

We are so glad we took their recommendation because Joe, the owner of the facility, was absolutely phenomenal. It is situated on a large property and our dog was able to run and play every day (weather permitting), and at night she was in a warm and cozy kennel with other dogs. Joe also texted us letting us know he took our pup on a one-on-one walk down by the river so she could warm up to him! He sent us several pictures of our dog while we were away and we were so relieved that she was being taking care of by a caring individual who simply loves dogs. The hours are great and Joe charges per over-night, so we were able to pick up our pup at 7:30 at night as soon as we flew in without having to pay an extra fee. We are so glad that we now have a go-to place for boarding when we have to be away.

We reached out to Connie because we were thinking of getting a second dog and wanted to get a "tune up" for Winston before we made that decision. The process to set up the initial meeting was thorough - we filled out an initial form, we talked with someone on the phone and we were provided with material to read before we ever met Connie. We appreciated the documentation as it set reasonable expectations about the process. When Connie came to the house, the first thing she did was ask us about our goals for the training. She's a great listener and really took the time to investigate our situation and ensure she truly understood the issues that we were having. Once she had gotten our story, she explained the root cause of the issues with Winston and educated us on how to better communicate with our dog. There was a lot of useful BarkBusters material that she shared that was specifically relevant to the problems we were having. Once we got past the theory, we did a few different exercises with Winston to put the ideas into practice. We saw an immediate impact with Winston after the first session. We felt more confident once we were equipped with the knowledge and skills to handle the problematic situations. We followed up on the homework that Connie shared and the results only continued to improve in the weeks following our initial visit. When she met us for the second time, she was surprised with how well Winston had responded to training and provided some small feedback about how we can continue to improve. We are over the moon with how much improvement we've seen with Winston and are so happy we worked with Connie! With the lifetime guarantee, we know we can reach out in the future if Winston develops other issues. Working with Connie was worth every penny and we highly recommend that others reach out if they're looking to improve their dog's behavior!

I do want to note this aspect as a positive prior to the rest of my review. My hubby and I viewed the rest of the experience as strange and similar to an SNL skit that played out in our own lives. Read on to hear the whole saga... We chose not to move forward with them because of a bizarre experience with them. From the beginning, it was a very strange interaction as they focused exclusively on building a relationship with our dog but not with me. One of their trainers called me on the phone (kind of like a secret agent tasked with a mission) and parked a ways away from my home on an easement that runs on the border of my house. When I met her, like a typical hu-man I was going to say hi to her and started approaching her, but she commanded me to walk away from her and not make any contact. Um, ok...weird but if it helps my anxious pup fine. I walked away from her, and they proceed to follow us, throwing cheese and meat at me and my dog. Um...ok...getting super weird and pretty rude to not introduce yourself and then proceed to throw meat and cheese at me and my dog on my property but I guess you're trying to show everyone who's the alpha. My dog honestly looked really confusedly at them. She didn't bark and happily ate the food but I was pretty uncomfortable. Next I was instructed to follow them. NO, not that close, back up they noted (I was already about 6 feet away). At this point, in the hot son with cheese and meat being thrown at my feet I was done, especially because they walked into my property and home and immediately tried to establish dominance with not just my pup, but me personally. Uh...sorry you're still a guest on my property. They comically threw cheese everywhere on my property, with my dog confused and sometimes not eating it. I watched as a piece slipped through the slats of my porch, likely to mold and cause a bad smell when the sun got to it, because my dog didn't have a chance to (might I add they had fanny packs and were just whipping the food at both of us at this point). We got into the house and it got worse. I thought they were just going to ask us questions and show some helpful tips, but they instead sat down at our table, asking if my cat had an allergy to the food. No...i said...before they immediately started throwing cheese and meat on the ground in our home. I looked in horror, as they hadn't asked about my son who did have a severe (anaphylactic) dairy allergy but they kept on. My dog was pretty good about eating it, but during their convo I watched as small pieces of cheese got stuck to our floor. [My husband reading this review asked me to add this: at one point the cheese got stuck to my toe, with the trainer apologizing, necessitating the words 'the cheese that just bounced off of me? that's ok...just keep going.' which is still a joke in our household to this day'. Making matters worse, their 'interview', while thorough lasted the entire 2 hours. They did not suggest improvements, and did random things like measure pupilary dilation (um, yes my dog is a nervous wreck and you're making the entire household one too!) or where her tail was when it was pretty clear holistically what was going on with her. We finally had to ask them to leave because it was going over time (about 3 hours) and they hadn't shown us any techniques, telling us they were establishing 'rapport'. In the end, we were left cleaning up a sticky cheese floor, with an aversion to dog training, and with a still anxious pup.

Audax K9 Academy is the most wonderful, compassionate, knowledgeable place you could ever want for…read moreyour 4 legged best friend! Jason and Kim are amazing! Their kind and calm demeanor is exactly what you didn't know you need in you and your dogs life! Their understanding of dogs needs and thought processes is next level!!! And their ability to teach us owners how to best work with them, in the ways they need to become the best dog they can be is extraordinary. I had no idea how little I knew about the needs of my dog/s and they have a very nice thoughtful way of teaching you. It is evident how much joy they get out of the teaching process and helping us be better dog owners. It is in everything they do! We met our newest German Shepherd Purdie when she was 15 months old and fell in love with her laidback, playful, silly self. We thought she was going to be like our previous dogs and after a bit of an adjustment slip right into our family like she was meant to be there! When we got her home we realized quite quickly that was not the case. She was very fearful and had no self confidence. She was scared of so many things including my husband to the point of us almost making the heartbreaking decision to return to where we got her from. We didn't know if she would ever be comfortable in our house with us let alone happy with us! I spent many hours in tears not knowing what to do and how to help her! Thinking that I was going to have to give her back even though I had already fallen in love with her. In comes the help of Jason and Kim! She did a 5 week board and train AND we were able to work with her twice a week during the board and train at the group sessions, who ever hear of such a thing? No other place that I looked into offers that! That shows their ongoing commitment to the relationship between you and your dog! It was amazing to see the difference in her from the first to the last visit. She had changed and grown so much in that time.l with their help. She had gained so much self confidence and was having so much fun with the work and training! We still go to group classes weekly to help both her and us! Which is part of the board and train package we chose. Another thing they offer that is unique and special about Audax K9 Academy. She is more confident every day, though she is still a work in progress we work on it daily and with the continued help of Jason and Kim and I know she will continue to grow and work thru her fears. I truly cannot thank you both enough for helping us and giving us the tools we need to help our girl now and be better dog parents for the rest of our lives. It is because of you that we got to keep our girl and know she is happy with us! Thank you from the bottom of our hearts!

Quick & Easy Nail Trim for My Pups!…read more We brought our dogs to the grooming area at Petco because they were long overdue for a nail trim. We showed up a little before they opened, so there was already a small line waiting to get in. Once they opened the doors, some people went shopping while others (like us) headed straight for grooming. We didn't have an appointment, so I fully expected a bit of a wait. The team was moving at a good pace -- they checked in the appointment pups first, then got to us. I really appreciate having Petco nearby because: My dogs already have profiles in their system. The groomers are always friendly and patient. They're usually super quick -- my past visits, the dogs are done before I'm even finished checking out! One thing I love: you can add a tip right at the register. I never seem to have cash, so this is a big plus for me! This visit was on a Sunday, so it was definitely busy. Belle went first while I paid, and she was still getting pampered when I finished. Then it was Leia's turn. We'd had a puppy playdate right before, so I was hoping they'd be too tired to care about the paw-dicure. Belle was chill, but Leia was a little restless -- the groomer took her time, and it turned out great! I usually just do the trim and buff, and even with that simple service, the team always makes it a good experience for us. Thanks for keeping our pups' nails nice and neat, Petco! We'll be back
