My rescued female Golden has been coming here for play and socialization for over a year and our new puppy has been going for 5 mths. They LOVE this place. Everyone is kind and attentive to the dogs. If they know you have a dog that has social issues or are afraid of people, they work to help them. Our girl was scared of everything and everyone. Humans, dogs, new situations.... With their help she has become a happy normal girl who loves people and especially playing with other dogs. Both our pups can not wait to go to Camp. We send them twice a week for mid day play. My name is Allison and I have been a Camp Canine employee since June of 2018. I am posting this in response to reviews made by former employees in hopes to shed light and show people that there are in fact two sides to every situation. I am the longest standing employee at Camp Canine with 6 years of employment and as such, have worked under every combination of management and owners. Including; Dr. Sue (former owner), Anne-Lise (former manager), Brenda, Jessa, and Heather (current owner and manager). Under Dr. Sues ownership, she never even knew our names or who we were. The facility never saw any needed renovations or improvements, and didn't even have a break room for employees. Let alone, she didn't know any of the dogs. I would not call that a well oiled ship. When Heather took over the company, we immediately saw renovations get done (new turf, new bark, new paint, a real break room for staff, cleaning and decluttering, updated cleaning protocols, etc). Not only has she improved the facility, but she has also invested in her employees by paying for positive reinforcement based dog training classes and Canine CPR/First Aid classes as well. So we can all be on the same page and have knowledge about how to properly care for your dogs. As for the group of employees who were either fired, or left - I have never been made to feel more uncomfortable at a job in my life. Many of them were incredibly petty, and made work very tense. If they didn't like you for whatever reason they came up with, you were either shunned or they talked about you behind your back. I never witnessed Heather be unfair to these individuals, however she did hold them accountable for their poor attitude, actions, and call outs. Which, after not having a structured managerial team while the company was being sold, probably came as a shock to some of them. Camp has become a much more enjoyable place to work since they have left, including staff holiday parties since everyone gets along well now. The environment is back to being a positive atmosphere, and it's clear that the dogs feel that positive shift in energy as well :) As far as the naps go - yes, our facility does use kennels to give naps to dogs. However, it is not because a dog is "difficult". Naps are utilized for a lot of different reasons. We give dogs naps to eat their lunches, breaks (if they display poor behavior that jeapordizes the safety of the group of dogs) , if a dog is experiencing extreme signs of anxiety, or is experiencing unusual medical symptoms like coughing, vomiting, limping, etc. Our dog play yards are cleaned thoroughly every day with industry standard, pet safe chemicals. And our nap kennels and boarding area is cleaned between each and every dog. There is also air purifiers in each area. The removal of the live cameras throughout the facility was due to some of the customers being creepy, not to hide anything. I would never work for a business that was unethical in the treatment of animals. read more

This place is a joke. Their process is for a dog to be evaluated for 30 days - initially it was for any aggressive behavior which turned out to be rules that they made as they went along. My dog was "judged" because he did not fit the mold of what the employees thought a dog should be. Their email: "I wanted to reach out and let you know that XXXX unfortunately has not passed his 30 preschool here at Camp. Despite being a super sweet boy he doesn't enjoy being here and has a hard time following the group or bonding with any other dogs. We are not sure if this is because he is actively trying to learn 3 different facility rules at the same time or if it has to do specifically with our facility being mostly outdoors (we have a ton of warehouse noise, planes, sirens etc). We are a much smaller facility then some of the surrounding area daycares so it's not super easy for us to create small groups for him. We need him to be comfortable with our regular groups." He was not going to 3 facilities but rather 2 as we needed someone to watch him on the weekends since Camp Canine is closed. I have encouraged my friends not to take their animal here and will NEVER recommend to anyone. read more

We have been taking our two pups to Camp Canine for the last 2 years, and I cannot say enough amazing things about them. Heather and team are so supportive and caring, and are fantastic partners in helping us have amazing dogs. Camp staff are friendly and well educated on dog behavior, and they've always been great partners in providing us with updates and progress on how our dogs are doing at Camp or if there are things we need to work on at home to support their wellness at Camp. It's not just a place to exercise and socialize your dog. My dog Kaia is a very anxious dog, she was terrified to be there for her initial evaluation. The owner and staff are very good at understanding dog behavior which helped her feel comfortable and safe. Now she can't wait to run in and start her full day of fun. They are organized, caring and pay attention to details. They also provide extra enrichments for both dogs and dog parents. We love receiving the updates and photos during the day. read more

This daycare hasn't got as many reviews as it deserves! My dog Elma loves this daycare. She will be wagging her tail at the door waiting to go play with the staff and other dogs. The staff at camp canine are Very will knowledge about dogs and there behaviors they also love throwing balls for you pups too. I've never been so happy with a daycare until I was refer to this camp, I used to take my dog to Sniff in Portland when we travel (doesn't go anymore because she doesn't like it). My boyfriend and I absolutely love this daycare for our two Siberian huskies (Zeus and Winter). Everyone here treats them so well and understands how to deal with these high energy breeds. What I love about them is they are extremely patient and always greet us with a smile and love our doggies! We absolutely love Camp Canine! Our dog has been going to Camp Canine for a year and he has a blast every time. He gets so excited in the morning when I tell him it's daycare day, and when I pick him up he's still so happy and exhausted at the same time. He loves to play with the other dogs and the staff. The staff are fantastic and so helpful. They take great care of our dog whether he is there for daycare, boarding, or grooming. There are different areas at camp to gather dogs who play similar or personalities that get along well. I love that they have large play areas that are open and outdoor so there is plenty of space to run around. Before we discovered this place , we took our dog to a daycare that was enclosed and had no outdoor area. So I don't know who was running this place 4-5-6-7-8-9 years ago as all the reviews seem so stellar but I'll tell you now, it's not all it's cracked up to be now!! Brought two dogs here, a 3yo choc lab and almost 4yo yellow lab mix. Both passed the "entrance exams" with flying colors. Spoke to staff in advance that my choc lab is high energy and barks a lot. And they said they "work with the dogs to correct behaviors". Nevertheless, after spending $150 on fecal sample tests and $40 on flea treatments (all part of the entrance exams!!), after two visits, the choc lab got "kicked out" of day care. Said she snipped at one dog and "rolled" another dog across the room. Well, guess what? This day care allows toys and balls all over the place. In fact, according to staff, "one extra ball for the number of dogs in the room".... HOW MORONIC do you have to be? My dogs have been to multiple doggie day care facilities in multiple states and for many many days! NONE of them, I repeat, NONE OF THEM, allow toys and balls for dogs to fight over them. When I asked to talk to the owner, I was denied and had to go through the young manager of the facility; the same one that kicked out my dog. Wouldn't recommend. To their credit, they refunded the portion of the package I purchased. read more

My dog has gone to camp c. For the last year. I cant say enof about how happy she is when she goes and how confident I feel about the care and love she receives there. The staff is ALWAYS friendly and so welcoming to her. When she doesnt feel comfortable or safe she hides behind me and won't approach people, but when we arrive in the parking lot at camp she nudges me out of the car, runs to the door and wants inside as fast as possible. She then runs up to greet everybody and could care less if I stay or go, she has play to do. Her behaviour tells me all I need to know. read more

This is the first daycare I have sent my ADORED baby girl to, so of course I was very nervous. I am definitely the definition of crazy dog mom but only because I really love my girl. She is a 1 year old, crazy GSD and honestly only gave them 2 stars because she absolutely adored it there. Probably only because she gets to see all her friends though. First of all, I asked the staff to PLEASE help me upkeep her training and to 1.) Please tell her enough when she is obsessively drinking water (she has an obsessive water drinking tic) and they told me that it would be impossible to keep track of her doing that because of the amount of dogs there I took her boarding and there were 50 dogs there and I asked the owner same thing and he said NOT A PROBLEM! 2.) Please tell her OFF when she jumps on the fence or people (didn't see them do it once and she actually jumped the gate!) 3.) PLEASE DO NOT get her all hyped up by cooing and squealing excitedly at her because we are reallllly trying to work on her greetings with people. She is a very very active and hyper girl and just gets too excited when she sees people so I ask them to please just ignore her until she somewhat settles down, rather than add to the problem. Walked in twice to the staff squealing at her! So much for helping, its as though they didn't communicate what I asked, to the entire staff like I would expect? Also, because of their rubber turf flooding in the pole barn within her 3rd day she had ripped all four of her paw pads off!!! Like they paid no attention to it whatsoever. They said they would never put her in there again and I catch her runnin around in the pole barn on the webcams!!!! TWICE. They tried seperating her for the hour her group needed to be in there but couldn't handle the BARKING AND WHINING she did in the mean time and said I could basically only bring her back if I came at a later start time. Well hello I work like everyone else and of course I can't be an hour late to my job that is what THEY ARE FOR! Staff is not as friendly as everyone claims. Looks tired and burnt outs Webcams are down half the time I sent her there. List goes on. Sure they do seem like they CARE about dogs but they don't give a damn what YOU want and need for YOUR dog, which is EXTREMELY important to me when I'm trusting my dogs life in their hands. read more

Can't say enough good things about Camp Canine. We have been bringing our dogs here for years for boarding and day care and we've have never had a bad experience. They give individual attention to each dog and really pay attention to what each one needs to have a good day at camp. The new cameras are a huge improvement and make it much easier to check in remotely. This is the one place I am truly comfortable with leaving our furry family members when we have to be away. This place is great and disappointing all at the same time. The staff is wonderful and their multiple yards with cameras are great. The only down side is that they don't give your dog the time of day if they are "difficult". I have a hyper German Shepard who has awful separation anxiety. The whole point of taking her there was to help with this. She only went 3 times for a couple hours before they said she couldn't come anymore. I know my pup is a lot to handle but I wish they gave us resources or tips to help her instead of just kicking her out because they didn't want to deal with her. Again, nice place but only go if you have a "good dog". read more

The daycare staff is friendly and try to spend time learning each dogs personality. I like that they have web cams so I can check in on my fur babies. I also enjoy reading my dogs' report cards. We just started taking our dog here. Our Boston Terrier is six and we haven't really socialized him with other dogs because we haven't had to. We only looked into day care because my husband started school and our pup was being left at home too often with the new hectic schedule. The staff are super friendly and have helped my dog and I adjust well. They love dogs and my pup comes home wiped out. I'd recommend this place for your furry friends. I also like that they keep smaller and bigger dogs apart unless the smaller dogs seem capable of "hanging with the big dogs". The webcams are convenient and the rates are super reasonable. The only reason I gave 4 stars is I wish the webcam platform was compatible with my I pad and the webcams can be glitchy. read more

Our Sheltie needed some doggie company so we took him to our vet's doggie day center at Camp Canine. He loves it there! He gets rave report cards from time to time. Instead of skulking in the back of the car when we drive in to the vet's parking lot, he now goes nuts anticipating his afternoon with his canid buddies! The staff is great - they are attentive and kind, love animals, and make the dogs behave! They also do grooming which is great because we just have one stop to make. Our puppy has been going to camp canine for almost 6 months now. He gets visibly excited when we are pulling in to the parking lot. The staff members are all very knowledgeable and helpful. As with all puppies, our pup has been learning about social cues and interactions and they have a very balanced approach to helping him learn: they've shown patience with his learning process and allow other dogs to correct him and they also give him a break at times so there aren't any major conflicts between dogs. The cameras are nice to see what your dog is doing throughout the day. We've also used them for boarding and daycare and were impressed with both. Our pup always comes home happy and tired. I've been bringing my 15-year-old Golden Retriever to Sarah for grooming since August 2020. I've only had my dog for a year, and she wasn't routinely groomed before coming to live with me. I had taken her to another local groomer a couple of times before being referred to Sarah at Camp Canine, and my dog was super nervous after each groom with the other groomer. Sarah is WONDERFUL!!! It's completely clear that she adores her work. She is super thorough, takes her time, and LISTENS to owners who know their pets best. My dog is not nervous or behaving differently at ALL after her visits to Sarah, and she comes home looking absolutely GORGEOUS. She not only does a beautiful groom, but she also points out any changes in the dog's skin since the last visit. Today, she presented me with a Christmas ornament with my dog's paw print on it and a sweet card saying how much she loves my dog and what a good girl she is! I teared up! I haven't tried daycare yet, but if the services there are as great as Sarah and her demeanor with the dogs, I will feel great about trying the daycare. read more

I took my small dog, Zelda, for a day and an overnight stay. She seemed to have a fantastic time even though she's a shy dog. The workers are very friendly and willing to work with you. I think the best part is how they leave you with a report card of how your dog did and any friends yours made while there. I wouldn't take my dogs anywhere else! I have two spaniels and they visit Camp Canine 2-3 times a week. My dogs require a lot of play time and they LOVE going to Camp Canine and they come home exhausted. Each of the employees are friendly and welcoming and I know each person sincerely care about my dogs. I have also boarded my dogs at Camp while out of town and I know they are safe and well cared for. Anna, the manager, is wonderful. It also helps to have the vet clinic right across the street. Brodie has been playing at camp since he was four months old and it has been a perfect place for him to play ball, run, and interact with his buddies both kinds - human and dogs. With this knowledgeable staff, they provide resources and support for us as Brodie has been growing up. Brodie is a registered with Reading with Rover and with Pet Partners as a registered therapy animal. We know Abby loves it at Camp Canine. She tells us how much blocks before we get there! She is in the back seat going crazy with excitement! Not sure how she knows we are getting close, but in doggy language she is saying "make the U turn at the light and go back 1 block and it will be on the right! ". Ha! We used to live in N Seattle, but have recently moved to Gig Harbor. We have searched far and wide in the new area to no avail. Nothing like Camp Canine out there. We will continue to take Abby to Camp Canine despite the distance we must now travel to get there. When we leave her for the day I know she will be happy, loved, and fulfilled with doggy playtime.
