Before we started training with ACE, several people were telling me to "give Puzzle back to the rescue " or "put Puzzle down" because of her behavior and the damage she was doing. Our family has been using A Canine Experience (ACE) regularly since our pup was just 12 weeks old (he is now over a year). This is a family owned and operated company. So many canine schools are shiny and beautiful but lack the experience, knowledge and frankly love of dogs to make them effective. We have a Cane Corso, an extremely stubborn, smart breed, and one that requires proper training, care and socialization. ACE has flexible options for training and they have individual and group sessions as well as training for us, in order to provide consistency at home. We just picked our Chocolate Lab puppy up from two weeks of the 'Board and Train' program and we are so happy with the results! A Canine Experience has been very easy to communicate with throughout the whole process. We went in for an evaluation first to ensure success with the program. We all agreed that the Board and Train would be a good way to go. They have an online portal that you can check on appointments, fill out vet/emergency information and add any notes that might be helpful for their team. Drop-off was easy. They cataloged everything we brought for her (bed, blanket, toys etc) to ensure we got it back at the end of her time with them. Part of the fee includes two private lessons with a trainer, the first one being when you pick your pup up from their stay. We were blown away by the difference in behavior and self-control our pup had. The trainer took a lot of time with us and made sure all of our questions were answered before concluding the lesson. The best part? I didn't worry about our pup once when we were away from her. When we picked her up she was clean, had all her things with her, and still wagging her tail. It's clear they don't overload with dogs for boarding and know each dog that is on site with them. We can't wait for our next lesson! read more

A Canine Experience provided excellent training to my rescue COVID puppy, who was skittish around people who visited my home. My dog went to the 4 -week boot camp and was provided a great foundation. I had previously taken my dog to another training facility for hands on group training and the husband was very demeaning to me about my dog being skittish and humiliated me in front of the class. The staff at A Canine Experience was so patient with my dog. I felt so confident that I later boarded both of my dogs for two weeks. The pups were well taken care of and when I picked them up, my Sugar went back and gave the employees love before jumping in my car. This family run business truly loves and cares for these dogs. We boarded our English Bulldog here over this past weekend and all went well. They cleaned his 'folds' as I requested and gave him his ear infection medication without incident. He came home happy and very. They charge $25/day which is standard but for an additional $10/day your pup can get about an hour of extra playtime outside. We've been continuously training our Doberman so that he can be less reactive toward other dogs, and have yet to succeed, Until we came to A Canine Experience. We dropped him off for a 3 weeks boarding program and he came back a completely changed dog. He is no longer anxious when we walk pass another dog, doesn't bark or lunges out. On top of that, the trainers saw a few additional areas of opportunities to improve and made all those bad habits go away. I've both left my dogs at the boarding facility as well as engaged the training services. One of my dogs is very picky about where he stays, as is their human, and after a week of boarding both pups were content and relaxed. Not sure what they do there but the dogs loved it! I am so glad to have a trusted facility for when I have to travel for business. I also invested in private training for both dogs. The training advice was invaluable and helped me become a better handler of my dogs.... after all most of the training is for us to become better dog handlers, our dogs just follow our lead. The trainers have a deep understanding for how dogs think, and understand humans and how we can always interact with our canine buddies in a more productive way. This understanding can only be achieved through sincere and honest compassion. My dogs, myself, my neighbors and friends have all benefited greatly from the work we've done with A Canine Experience. During the Covid-19 shutdown I was worried my line to support was going to be severed, however A Canine Experience is offering remote consulting services and I'm so excited about this. This means I can also connect while away from the area in the future. My dog was happy and they seemed nice enough. She is a runner, and did not get away, so that's always good. I get a bad feeling about their billing practices though. They charged my credit card twice. FIRST time I called them, they said to wait to see if it was a repeat transaction. SECOND time, they said wait 7-10 days, as it was the credit card company's fault, and it will be refunded. THIRD time, they said 1-3 business days. 2.5 weeks later, I finally have my money back, but who wants to go through all that mess, especially after what was supposed to be a relaxing vacation?? I have known Trina for several years through business groups. I don't have a dog but I have always been impressed by her knowledge and experience whenever I see her at an event or meeting. The one meeting I recall the most is when she showed us how she trained one of her dogs to "find" things. This may not seem impressive when you are reading it but it sure was watching the dog do his thing. I send my dog to their doggy day care fairly regularly and I am really pleased with what they do. First, Will picks up my dog on Wednesday and drives him to the daycare. I don't know what they do there, but my dog is better behaved as a result of being with those folks. He loves going and when he sees Will, he runs out the door and nearly jumps in his arms. We tell him early in the morning that the "Will Wagon" is coming and my dog just gets all excited. I also had Trina over to help me with problems I was having with my dogs and she was very good at helping me understand what was good and what was bad behavior for a "pack". I've also boarded my dog there and had him go to daycare while there. When I picked him up, he didn't want to go home. He hardly greeted me. Sad, sad, but good for A Canine Experience because it shows how well he was treated and how happy he was to be there. I love this place! read more

We have been using this businesses' 'doggie day care' and in house doggie sitter for over a year and could not be happier with the services. Our dog is VERY high energy, requires daily medication and suffers with separation anxiety. Autumn has been amazing with our doggie. When we need overnight care she comes to our home and stays with our dog (sometimes we only need her overnight...sometimes for a week). She is always dependable, kind and I swear she leaves our house cleaner than when we left! Most importantly our dog loves her. A (Bad) Canine Experience - Sadly there is no option for 0 Stars I had a business trip which took my wife and I away from our home for 5 days which required us to put our Great Dane, Atlas, in a kennel during this time away. I would start by explaining the scenario to be completely level in my review, also of note I decided to take nearly a week of cool down time prior to writing this as not to come off as a person willing to flame an establishment based completely on emotion. Atlas has a mid-range case of separation anxiety, the symptoms are over eager greetings upon arrival home (from my office), when put in his crate he will pull at the door typically scratching his nose up a little, and at times he will relieve himself in his cage (even for short periods of time, one hour or less). He is medicated for this condition along with ongoing behavioral training; it is a work in progress. Unfortunately I was not able to do a walk-through of the facility prior to Atlas being dropped off, in fact due to my schedule I was not even able to take him to 'A Canine Experience' myself though I am not sure that would have played an appreciable difference in the outcome. I did read several reviews and had two separate conversations with staff and felt comfortable enough with them for the relatively short stay that Atlas would be making. When I picked Atlas up from 'A Canine Experience' it did seem as though they were as stated on their website, it appeared clean, free of heavy dog 'odors', other animals appeared happy and generally well cared for. Now on to my issue with 'A Canine Experience'. When I was getting Atlas ready for his stay I made sure there were proper feeding and medication instructions given, in fact this is part of 'A Canine Experience' initial paperwork. Atlas eats roughly 8-10 cups of dry kibble per day, he is 1 year old and weighs (weighed) in at 140 pounds. Because he is still a pup he is on the lanky side but his hips, spine, and ribs are fully covered, and is generally the model of physical health. I measured out his food for every meal that he would have while at 'A Canine Experience' and put it in a bag, which I expected would be completely exhausted by my return. Additionally I sent along his medication to be administered per the doctor's orders. When Atlas was retrieved from his kennel I was physically shocked at how emaciated he was, he had dropped at minimum 10 pounds in 5 days. I observed that his spine was fully prominent over the entire length, his hip bones were protruding and his ribs could be seen very easily through his coat. I inquired as to what had happened, why he was so skinny; had he not eaten, has he been vomiting, is he not drinking etc. I was told that he "ate the first day but the next couple of days they noted that he had scattered it around but didn't really eat". In addition to this I was given back his bag of food with more than half of the amount remaining and after a pill count it was clear they had missed at least two doses of his medication, and I have no way of actually knowing if he had taken the doses that were missing from the prescription bottle. I recognize that you cannot force a dog to eat, however I do expect that the owner or emergency contact be notified there is a problem to ask for suggestions. In Atlas' case it would likely have been something simple like adding hot water to his food, maybe broth, or I would have had a family member take him home as a last resort. I fear what would have happened if we were gone longer. Unfortunately I had paid for their services prior to Atlas being brought to me, I am sure this was purposely done as there is no way I would have paid for the services seeing him in this condition. The after effect of this treatment made for three days of reintegrating him to food as he would vomit it up within 15 minutes of feeding (even smaller amounts) as his stomach was not able to handle his food. He is of course still down in weight but thankfully recovering and is now keeping solid foods down. The end result of my bad experience with 'A Canine Experience' is this, if you are looking for a place to board your dog and they are accustomed to you being gone you may not have any issues. If however you would like to be notified in the event of any serious type of illness or occurrence while you are away you will want to think long and hard about how you would like to find your dog upon your return, it was a truly shocking experience, one of which I am still weighing a complaint for animal cruelty and neglect with the Snohomish County Animal Control; I could have left Atlas home alone and had no worse an experience and saved the cost of their "Services". read more

My pup and I absolutely love this place. I found them on google, and I had a personally training session with Trina (owner's daughter). After the session, I signed up with a basic puppy class (6 weeks). The class was small, but Trina taught more than just they would teach at those basic obedience classes at the big pet stores. Trina introduced agility, scent work, and real life basic commands. Well worth my $100. I dropped off my puppy at Doggy day care and she came home happy and exhausted. She's a chihuahua, and most of the dogs at the day care are big dogs, but the trainers did a wonderful job with having her get adjusted with the pack. When I come and pick up my dog, Im very happy to see them discipline the day care dogs. Your dog will get socialization and training during day care. My favorite thing about this place is that they are very flexible with pretty much everything. They have a wonderful drop off and pick up service for those who need it. It was a wonderful Idea, although it did not work out with my schedule. They were nice enough make an exception and let me drop off my puppy at 5:30am (since i start work at 6am). The prices are reasonable, and they are very flexible with payment options and plans. Also, I dropped off my aunt's boxer/lab dog, which they recommended he do the train and board (2 weeks) for his anxiety and lack of confidence (which made him a disobedient dog). I am 100% positive he will come home a different dog. I am very satisfied with the overall cleanliness of the facility. This place does not wreak of dog nor does it look messy. Everyone has a professional attitude and is very friendly and very easy to communicate with. I am very satisfied with the cost of everything. They may be cheaper than most daycares and boarding kennels in the area, but they definitely care about you and your dogs well-being, not money. I recommend this place to anyone who needs a day care, boarding, or training! read more

After moving to Mill Creek from Texas, I really struggled to find a doggie daycare that I trusted with my babies. My smallest girl is a rescue, wonderful dog but certain behaviors that can be challenging. Since I started taking her to ACE around 6 months ago, many of her challenging behaviors have stopped at home and she's much more outgoing. My happy-go-lucky labradoodle can hardly contain himself when we turn onto the street! I'm not sure who loves A Canine Experience more, me or my dogs. I decided to take my dog here after getting a discount on amazon local. The coupon saved me enough that I decided to add on the doggie daycare for the week days he was there which made me feel better leaving him. My dog was only six months when he was there so he was a bit jumpy and hyper. When I picked him up at the end of our vacation it was like picking up a new dog! He didn't jump on us anymore, he had no more accidents in the house and just overall seemed to be calmer. We were informed that pictures had been taken and posted on Facebook and that we should check them out. After looking at the pictures I noticed that my dog was the youngest one there.(there was a lot of dogs in doggie daycare!) My guess is that these other dogs schooled my dog on how to behave in a group setting and the workers are so good that they helped train my dog without even trying! Bottom line... Okay place. It's nice they offer free play groups occasionally. We came and tried it out but weren't all that impressed with the facility which could use improving and my husband twisted his ankle in a hole outside where dogs were running around. Obviously not safe. I understand dogs dig, I've worked in a few boarding facilities myself, including one currently, but this wasn't a fresh hole. It had been there awhile. He said he saw a few others out there as well. I'd have someone sent out there every week or so to make sure the grounds are taken care of. The potential is there, but I think they have some facility maintenance to do. I did appreciate the chance for my dog to socialize a bit and the people at the play group were very nice. One dog was mildly aggressive though and shouldn't have been there. read more

debated on writing this review but I feel it's important to share my experience with Canine Experience I was desperate. I had a 3 month old Lhassa puppy that was being a brat. We adopted him and his sister as puppies but we didn't know that litter mates could be an issue. The 2 puppies were fighting and we weren't sure how to handle that so we asked around and this place offered a free consultation so we took them up on it. I showed up with both puppies and within a half hour, they said I didn't have a choice; I needed to put the male down. I was shocked but I was also trusting their opinion. After a while, the co-owner showed up and we talked to her about the puppy issues, looking for another opinion, but her opinion was the same. Put him down. She even had a card ready for a vet that "doesn't question our opinion and will take care of the process" Not re-home him, test him, medicate him, train him, etc... put him to rest. I left in tears, went home and cried for days thinking about putting this puppy down. I just couldn't do it. It wasn't long after that, that we started to see an improvement in his behavior. I took him to the vet and she said he was totally normal and just trying to establish dominance with his sister. He is now 9 months and doing very well. He's very sweet and occasionally has a tussle with his sister but nothing out of the norm. Bottom line is you might love animals but that doesn't make you an expert so don't claim to be. I could have put this guy down when really, he was just having a spat with is sister. Shame on you Canine Experience Lesson learned. read more

Our 6-yr old cocker spaniel, CJ, has never been boarded. We took a 2-week vacation to Hawaii. They asked us to bring CJ for daycare to see how he would react. He was no problem and dropped him off for 2-weeks with an additional $10/day for spoiling. During our vacation, we would call from time-to-time to see how he was doing. We were impressed because they called and left a message stating CJ was doing well. My husband was hospitalized for 3 days and I called to let them know we would be delayed picking him up. They had no problem with our situation. We picked CJ up and they said he was "a sweet dog and looked forward to his spoiling time." I brought my 100 pound STUBBORN Lab/Sheppard mix in for the 2 week board and train program. Jasper has been through 2 other training types before so for a cookie I could get him to sit, or down, but not much else. I was not able to walk my dog, he just dragged me!! Since being home, the difference is night and day! He sits, lays down, waits at the door, etc not for a cookie, but because I asked him too. Instead of fighting over who HAS to take Jasper for a walk, we are fighting over who GETS to take Jasper for a walk! I sought professional assistance from Canine Experience in training my 4-mo-old Siberian Husky, rec.from a fellow dog lover. Since, I have sought a 2nd opinion, consulted w/ my vet & begun working w/ a new trainer. I waited to compile a review of my exp. until I gained more perspective, leading me to more concern that others may exp. what I did. My pup is sweet & smart, & in my opinion (& the opinion of other prof.) easily trained, but as with any puppy, he was testing boundaries, not always listening & being 'mouthy' (using his baby teeth too much) while playing. He had learn tricks quickly, sit/high five/come etc. Around 3 MO, I became worried off leash activities in the future would be dangerous & he may run & not heed my commands. He had shown some food agg. & was having a hard time dist. between toys/hands while playing. I sought assistance from Canine Exp. to help him become a well-behaved adult, while he was still fresh/ready to learn.When I brought my pup in for the Eval, we were in a room w/ a trainer & 2 other dogs. My pup is well socialized so I didn't see it being a problem, but while playing & assessing one other, the other dog snarled at my pup & proceeded w/ a warning lunge/nip. My pup resp. similarly, the trainer became defensive & stated my pup was aggressive, despite the other dog's instigation. My pup was on edge after that, resp. to surprise touches from us with jumpiness,but he did not bite or nip. We then tested the food aggression by giving him a bone & tried to take it from him (while the other dogs were still present) he did not give it to her easily, the same as had happened in the example I gave her when explaining the food Agg. The trainer said this could be a problem. At this point I felt her tone & demeanor had changed toward us. After about 25 min., she recommended 2-3 weeks in-board training with NO visits, stating I could leave him right then to start the prog.I wanted to sleep on the Eval, but did end up bringing him back w/ hopes the program would work .Canine Exp. came well recomm. & I wanted my pup to learn good behavior for his qual. of life & ours.3 days later,on my way home from work, missing my pup, I wanted to call & check on how he was, they beat me to the phone call by reaching out while I was driving. They began the conversation by telling me they thought he should be put down, they wanted to euthanize him. I was speechless. They offered to take care of the process for me, stating they were able to work with a vet who would trust their recomm. This was all comm. with a tone that maybe I wouldn't want to deal w/ the process, as if I had no emotional connection or parental resp. to my dog, as if this wasn't unbelievable news. I turned around Imm. & went to pick him up, trying my best to handle the shock and fear I felt by not only the news, but the abrupt & unprofessional way it was delivered. I could not get there fast enough. When I arrived & got a handle on the situation, I asked to settle up, they said they didn't feel right charging me.I found this to be decent, although I insisted on paying for their time, despite the terrible exp. that had not settled in yet. When they brought my pup out, he was uncontrollably excited to see me, urinating on me & had a burst of anal sec. This backed up his exhausted demeanor once I got him in the car. It had been 3 days & you could absolutely tell he'd been under duress. This broke my heart. He is my pup, so of course I think he is the sweetest,but I can honestly say I never in a million years expected to hear such a neg. assess. of my pup to the extent of being deemed out of chances. In short, I was devastated by my exp. w/ Canine Exp. When I think about it in retro,I can't believe how the situation was handled from beg. to end. I had seen a few neg. reviews, also presented with some hesitation, but find it necessary to let people know of this poss. outcome.I didn't think that could happen to my pup, but it did. Please take this into consideration, if you do decide to facilitate your training here. What happened to us is NOT right. I hope/ pray that no one feels they must put their pet down based on the recomm. of this place. Since then, the professionals I have consulted have been appalled at my story. The private trainer I've been working closely with has formed a strong,protective bond with my pup, W/I the first day of training, his behavior had already improved. She has taken him out with her pack of dogs & the reports have been incredible, he is getting the affection, attention & socialization he needs to understand reward and disc. in a positive way. It's been 10 MO. & he has taken to guidance & training like he's been waiting to be told where to put his energy & att., it has worked so much more than the basic 'no' teachings & is very evident in his every day behavior. At another boarding place our dog was bit several times and developed aggression issues when boarded "kennel free". We shopped around for kennel boarding that would still allow our dog to have play time, without being around other dogs. A Canine Experience is such a perfect fit for our dog.
