The rude, frowny face served us like we were outcasts. Hello... if you don't like the passport customers, why participate in the program? We had the St. Paul Pub and the stout. They were almost as cold as the level of service we got. Probably good beer, but the element of vanishing joy made them taste flat to our palates. A beautiful brewery for a sip outside! Seating underneath the beautiful moon adorned tower was a great way to end our evening in the early September. My partner and I each sampled one of their craft brews in a 12 oz pour and were able to escape after tip for just under $20 - pretty reasonable for a brewery. I had the lemonade ale and it was tart but still very easy drinking, definitely would get again. My partner got their "alt" beer and we enjoyed that one as well! We will definitely return as it was very quiet and nice this evening. Service was incredibly quick as we were the only ones in line, their appeared to be options to have bar snacks like popcorn and pretzels as well as the opportunity to order pizza table side from a nearby restaurant. Brewery in St. Paul with a great big outdoor space that is shared with other businesses in this strip mall, including this cocktail bar called King Coil that also serves pizza that you can order while you get the beer from Lake Monster. It's a pretty cool set up, and they had live music playing the day I went. With the nice weather it was perfect. I got the depth charge and the blood orange citrus. The inside has a lot of space as well, and would also be good to sit at were it not so nice out. It seemed pretty lively so it must be a popular space, or at least area where all these are located. They also have a pretty big parking lot. I can see why it's so popular. I'm glad I got to check it out when I visited MSP from Chicago. read more

Made it through the construction in the area to visit @lakemonsterbrewing. Besides the obvious awesome water tower that stands over the complex, the patio and brewery both provide plenty of seating and a welcoming space. I enjoyed four of their beers when I visited. Rare Species 2.0: A fun IPA with a ton of hops including Nelson Sauvin, Motueka, Pacific Sunrise, and Riwaka. I get tropical fruit with medium bitterness. All four hops provide a complex hop bill that makes every sip a different adventure. Sunk Cost DDH DIPA: A big Double IPA that was dry hopped with Comet and Cryo-Simcoe. Very fragrant with apricot and peaches on first smell and low pine coming in at the end. Dank, tropical, and bitter all at the same time. Apricot Gose: Well-balanced sea salt and coriander gose that brings a traditional mild tartness, with a medium-low sweetness from the apricot. When I visited it was some of the last bit on tap, and glad I got to try it. Very refreshing and my favorite of the four beers I tried. Bourbon Barrel Aged Black is Beautiful: Starting with the collaboration beer from across the world started by Weathered Souls to bring awareness to the injustices people of color face on a daily basis, Lake Monster Brewing barrel aged the beer in bourbon barrels to celebrate their 6th birthday. This big imperial stout gives off a roasted chocolate aroma with a vanilla, coffee, and dark chocolate flavor. The space is in any more industrial area of Saint Paul but the brewery is very close to many other breweries in St. Paul. The brewery itself is quite nice; the entire indoor and outdoor space is dog friendly. They seem to thoroughly routinely have food trucks available and you are also welcome to bring your own food. I did a tasting flight of multiple beers all of which I thought were quite good. I stopped in on a late fall evening with a friend. Neither of us had been here before but another helper's review put it on my list. The outside seating area is a huge draw for all non-winter months. They maximize their space beautifully. Dog friendly both inside and out!! (Since there isn't a kitchen inside the brewery, only their host of rotating food trucks outside, on-leashed and well behaved dogs can be everywhere!) The staff were so fun to talk to and made excellent suggestions on our tastes. And the beer is legitimately delicious. Delicious enough to warrant the Uber over there. This was my second time coming here and absolutely love the building, beer and outdoor patio. Can't wait to come during the spring/summer months to enjoy the outside or building with doors open. I really like the artwork and they do a great job at giving you the MN feel. I have tried multiple beers and they have all been good, however I like the Hazy IPA the most. The parking lot is shared by numerous businesses, so you may have to search for a spot for a little bit but really worth it with the service and beer selections they offer. What a great place to grab a beer on the patio. Any of their patios. On our walk here, we were like "Where tf are we?" as we meandered through the desolate industrial side streets of St. Paul. But follow the famous crescent moon water tower and you'll find a blissful oasis. Lake Monster has a few beautiful patios amongst a courtyard of cool local businesses. The inside is large and open, and they have a really nice play area for kiddos too, complete with little table and big blocks. The service was wonderful, and we both enjoyed our beers. I got the Purple Rain sour beer. It was sour but not too sour... it was a great colorful beer to sip in the summer. If you're looking for a chill, laid back place to hang out and maybe catch some live music on a summer Friday night, this is your place! I pulled up at 6pm and easily found a parking space in their large lot. They have a nice outdoor area with lots of seating and live music that I didn't know about- what a nice surprise! Everyone really seemed to be enjoying it! Their beer selection is about average. I'm a big sour beer fan, and they had only one on the menu. I'd say that is usually average for a brewery! It's a raspberry sour and is quite delicious, has great flavor. Pricing is about average too. Service was great, the guys behind the bar were very nice and quick with their pours! The ambiance of the indoor area is nice. Lots of space, large tables, good lighting, and not too loud! There is also another outdoor patio area you can access from the side door inside. Lake Monster will always be endeared to me because I met someone very special to me here for the first time, they have a nice taproom/outdoor space and they get some good food trucks on occasion, but their beer has always been pretty lacking compared to their local peers. The taproom itself is fairly large, as is the adjacent outdoor space when the weather allows for it. They share a fairly non-descript building in an Industrial-ish part of St. Paul easily accessible from 94/University and parking is readily available. Food trucks are often on site, and if El Fuego happens to be there when you are, get yourself some birria tacos. Unfortunately, after trying close to a dozen beers, I would say I have had a couple of decent IPAs, a very bad apple ale, a mediocre Oktoberfest and a handful of forgettable beers. If the beer isn't your top priority, Lake Monster is a fine spot to hang out, just probably not the place to bring any out of state beer snob friends. read more

I went to Lake Monster on a gorgeous Saturday night and was really impressed with the place. First of all they are located in an industrial area the a little isolated from the normal hussle and bussle, which in my opinion was helped add to the atmosphere. They an exuberant amount of seating outside with most of it under a tent with golden lights hanging from it. We made our reservations through their website a day before without any trouble. They do have a time limit on the tables, but this rule is rarely enforced. I got the Spruce Moose which was an exceptional amber ale! Lastly, I'm not sure if you can climb the water tower. I did not get close enough to see the bottoms of the ladders. I'm so sorry that I fail you yelps but I will go back and check then edit this review. Maybe I'll add a picture from the top. Went there with my son because I heard they now had food. We each had a couple of Como Claws (pilsner) which is my favorite beer they serve. the food was awesome and far exceeded the expectations I had. To my surprise they offered a whitefish sandwich which I can honestly say was one of the best ones I have ever had on par with the ones they serve in Duluth. Highly recommend. read more

After touring many of the local Minneapolis St. Paul breweries I finally made it to Lake Monster. The place has an amazing location and has been set up so well. It has a cool vibe and stylistically is a cut above the rest. They have a different food truck each day and has a wide variety of local flavors to kill the hunger accompanied by beer tasting. Unfortunately I found several of the beers I tried not what I had hoped for. I like subtle twists to classic craft beer varietals but between the four varieties we tried I found the aftertaste to be so different and almost like a cream soda. I will say this was the third stop on our tour so in fairness I plan to return to Lake Monster because they definitely have a sweet vibe and have some loyal followers. I don't know why this brewery doesn't have better reviews! Maybe it's because there's a plethora of breweries to choose from in the Twin Cities but without comparing, this place is good! The location is conveniently located right between Minneapolis and St. Paul off of I-94. There's PLENTY of seating, both indoors and outdoors. There's a food truck outside and today it was simple-yet-curbs-the-cravings Vietnamese fried appetizers. We only waited five minutes and she threw in an extra app for fun :) The best part is the beer! I had the Murmur Milk Stout. It is a standard milk stout with a nice bite at the end. I also tried some IPAs and the Empty Rowboat was my fave. We came here by accident because our directions routed us here instead of the other brewery but so glad we did! read more

My only real criteria for a brewery are is it dog friendly and do they have games. I like beer but find it all pretty similar and am not snobby enough to discriminate on a brewery based on such minor things as the beer. This spring I've definitely become a regular here, coming almost every week. It has been the perfect place to feel semi-normal in the era of Covid, especially with kids and a dog in tow. We easily made reservations for the patio on their website. During the colder visits, the propane heaters at every table kept us comfortable. Staff are always welcoming and happy to help with finicky heaters. The daily food trucks provided some delicious dinners, and we always brought some snacks and coloring books from home to keep the kids busy. The kids also loved sitting under the water tower and climbing "the big X." Do note that some of the tables are porous wood and can't be sanitized easily - and I don't think staff wipe the outdoor tables down between guests anyway. I personally don't mind at all - it's the same drill as going to a park or any other public place. read more

I would love to hear from management about policies for that. hadn't even been dealing with that bartender before that point in the night when I was trying to order another drink. they said my eyes were "glossy", but I was 100% coherent and very confused.
