A superb snack bar / burger and taco joint. The burgers and tenderloin sandwiches are both delicious.

Incredible little hidden spot with authentic Latin flavors from all over the world. The chef is…read morefrom Ecuador and the love for his culture shines through in the food and in Tapa Taco's cozy ambiance. Tacos are delicious and nicely sized. The chicken was juicy and flavorful (points for using thighs, not breast), and the veggie taco with sweet potato and kale is a must! Plantains were fried perfectly--crunchy on the outside and soft and sweet on the inside, with a nice spicy guava jam to dip. The rice is OUT OF THIS WORLD and I'm going to need to stop to get some every time I'm in Three Oaks. Tapa Taco is such a gem, I can't wait to come back.

I posted a glowing review for TapaTaco awhile ago. For this one it's a cautionary tale! Our table…read moreordered 5 mixed drinks; all of which were undrinkable even after the bartender tried to fix one of them. We switched to beer and wine which were fine but I'd say for sure to stay away from mixed drinks here. We had shrimp ceviche which is a fine appetizer in a very tasty broth. The guacamole was also first rate! The entrees not so much. Our paellas' were far too salty but still passable. The beef tacos were also quite good. Staff were helpful but couldn't overcome the kitchen and bar issues. Also an inviting; old school type dining area that harkens back to kinder/gentler times. So a word to the wise: if you navigate well you can get a good meal at Tapa Taco but you must choose with discernment.

OMG! The only reason I loved going to Indiana Beach was for the amazing tacos!…read more I was visiting a customer in Monticello looking for someplace for lunch. I got on Yelp of course! I saw The Taco Shoppe - one of the first review I read explained how the taco stand was no longer in Indiana Beach/ but had opened shop 1 mile from where I was! Trust me I knew this was the place for me!!! Anyone that has been to Indiana Beach must remember these delicious tacos! They are nothing fancy/ just ground beef lettuce snd cheese- with the AMAZING taco sauce! You order at a Windiw- pick up at the next- there are a few picnic tables. I noticed a steady stream of people walking up the steps to place orders! This is a must stop if you have fun memories of the tacos at Indiana Beach!

There's something to be said about knowing your strengths and understanding your clientele. If…read moreyou've ever been to Indiana Beach on Lake Shafer, you've probably had tacos from the now closed Taco Shoppe. It was a staple for years at the amusement park, and gained such a following that when they closed a few years back, their regulars (myself included) were devastated. So much so that the owners decided to re-open the business about three miles away in downtown Monticello, IN. The recipe for their success is a simple one. Keep the menu simple. Find a niche product that differentiates your establishment from the dozens of other taco joints in the area and only open for a select amount of time so that you always leave them wanting more. The Taco Shoppe is a carry-out only and has no inside seating at all. In fact, there's no "inside" of the business. You order from one window and pick up your food from another. There's a handful of picnic tables in the lot next door, but that's it. So what's the secret??? Tough to describe. First of all, the soft shell corn tortillas are flash fried, maybe?!? Whatever they do to them, they are delicious. Their ground beef is also kind of a mystery. It's unlike any beef taco I've had before, and my fat ass has had PLENTY of tacos in my 52 years. They serve the tacos with red sauce (mild) and green sauce (hot). They are both amazing. Their red sauce is on the sweeter side, and I can't compare it to anything else really... Like everything else about this place, it's totally unique. The Taco Shoppe is one of those places that if you know about it.... you know. You get it.
