My wife a second generation Mexican-American loves this place. She had the carne asada and loved everything, so there's that. I found the tacos so-so, the Mexican rice bland and the re-fried beans watery. The only thing I liked was the grilled garlic shrimp, excellent. So I'm going with a three. Strawberry margarita had kindve a pinkish tone with no taste of strawberry. Plenty of sour in there though. Had the hot wings that were so bad I spit it out after the third one, was just hoping they would get better and I was hungry. Waitress was very nice, not very fast but nice . Super good food. Ordered a bunch of tacos, a burrito and some nachos for a group and everyone loved their food. The only gripe is that the nachos were soggy and not crispy at all. I went in at 10:30 was out by 11:00 had 2 drinks and was wasted I do feel with all my heart there was something added to my drink and wish I could prove it because doing people dirty like that truly means you need closed down. Finally talked mom into going for lunch here. I'm from the Edgewater neighborhood of Chicago so I've experienced many Latin restaurants. Lindo definitely was as good or better. Our server was so patient and friendly (forgot her name but she did tell me she's from Cicero). Love the atmosphere and I can't wait to come back for a margarita. Had the steak wet burrito. Mom had the combo plate. We both finished our plates as well as the chips and salsa. Both hot and mild salsas were tasty. I like to mix them. We ordered two meals that we thought would be like $20. We ordered some queso dip too. They brought out chips and salsa that they charged for, which is usually free at most Mexican restaurants. Don't bring out chips, unless they're free. Our bill was $41 for the food that wasn't good and the service was not good either. I added it up and thought it was wrong, so I brought it to their attention. I got a refund of $3.50, which in my mind wasn't enough money back. I found out the chips was .90 and the queso dip was $6.75, which is ridiculous. I ordered white sauce instead of the red sauce and that was an extra $2. It ended up being $50 with tip. I went to Poblanos in Rochester and it was $60 for four of us with tip and the food was much better. Only go here if you want to be overcharged and get dried out chicken with your enchiladas. read more

When I first moved to the area 4 years ago, I was so glad to have a Mexican restaurant near by. At first all of our carry out orders were right on and very good. As time went by, things became inconsistent. The beans might be runny one time and not the next; the rice would have good flavor one time and not the next. Now, the last four carry out orders have been wrong! They messed up cheese quesadillas three times. This last time they put ground beef on them! Disgusting! The salsa was watery, no taste. Chips were stale and out of a bag, her fajita looked like something out of a horror film, and my steak chimi was wet and soggy, barely fried. Surprised this restaraunt isn't higher on the list. Although, I will say the quality has slacked off a little it is still by far the best restaraunt in Knox. I won't say some of the complaints are wrong because I have noticed these things as well. For example the chips use to be made fresh and now I believe they are store bought because they are terrible. Their food can tend to be only luke warm at times but there tacos, enchiladas, and fajitas are great. I would stay away from their steaks simply because the portions are tiny for some reason and stay away from their tamales the only thing I've had there that is just down right bad other than the chips of course. Ask for your tacos authentic Mexican style with just cilantro and onions, you'll love them. One of the other reviews also mentioned the owner and again would have to agree the owner is very nice and a wonderful person. If your actually looking for taste in Knox this is your only place other than one good pizza parlor but that's another review. read more

Ate here a few years ago and had the steak fajitas. Was tasty but very little steak only a few strips and was a vegetarian fajitas. Wouldn't go back as the value was not there but this past weekend was doing a lot of yard work and family wanted something quick and had a taste for Mexican food. So we decided to try again and ordered the chicken super burritos. Chicken is not that expensive and a few tablespoons of chicken meat was all that was on it. Sadly, this used to be our favorite restaurant in Knox and the surrounding area. We stopped going to all other mexican options and most other options, and went here exclusively on Friday nights, and often at least once more during the week, for 2 years with 4-8 friends joining us. This place enjoyed a line out the door because of good food, fair prices and great service. In the last 4 months the menu changed (higher prices), the chips are back to store bought (?stale?) and the service went to hell. Poorly staffed and ownership not doing anything about it, the usual 2-3 ladies are running their heads off covering the entire place but not doing a good job because logistically they can't. The connection, but no coincidence, is when the Portage location opened. We haven't seen the owner in months. Chewy is neglecting this location and it's getting worse. We left on two recent Fridays. This past Friday was the last straw. While we stayed, the hostess and bartender covered our table along with several other tables themselves, after we got up twice asking for someone to take a drink order. They can't possibly survive this way when the patio opens. It seems there are a lot of young men running, more than ever, but the problem is they don't speak English and can only run the food and then you have to wait for the ladies to come back to get another drink, napkins, salsa, anything! If he doesnt hire help for them, he will lose droves of customers and the higher prices won't make up the difference. And then back to Plymouth we shall trek, to Yolanda's and MI Camino. read more
