It was a nice day and since my air conditioning is shot on the old VW bug we opened the windows and moon roof and took a roadtrip! Back roads are my thing! When we got near Warsaw we hit RT 30 and hightailed to our favorite Mexican joint and secured a table near the kitchen and settled down to pig out! Haven't been here for a year but it is still good! I had three tacos and a side of refried beans! My wife ordered her favorite arroz con pollo. Everything was good including my tender lengua. I couldn't resist a glass of horchata for desert! My husband's birthday and he love Mexican food so we stopped in (from a festival). I had chicken tacos, he had mixed fajitas, daughter chimichunga, son supreme burrito, girlfriend had Mexican burrito. All dishes were plentiful and were spot on fantastic food. Glad I stopped by! Enjoyed the green enchiladas made with cheese instead of chicken. Nice touch with the avocado on top. Chips and sales were good and the hot sauce had some bite. A couple of friends and I met for lunch here. It is definitely an authentic Mexican restaurant! This is my first review of this restaurant, but not my first visit. Good salad and chips! It was difficult to stop eating them because they were so good. But stopped because I didn't want to full up on chips and not enjoy my lunch. We each ordered tacos. The taco filling was so abundant that it was impossible to pick it up south out making a mess, so I ate some some with a fork first. Both tacos I ordered were very full of flavor! From first impression, the bright orange building that needs some work may hinder you from checking out this local favorite but my recommendation is to not judge a book by its cover! Upon going inside, you'll be met with both booths and tables. The wait staff was friendly. The place is kept clean. They bring you chips and salsa. The salsa is good, a bit spicy but that is how I like it. I order queso cheese sauce, which is good too. The menu has great options that would work for both lunch or dinner. I ordered the 2 tacos with rice and beans. They give you the option of chicken, steak, chorizo or pastor. I got the steak and my husband got the chicken. It comes with onion and cilantro. Both were very good! They had good flavor and we would order them both again. The rice and beans are good and taste very authentic. Overall I recommend this place! I got take out for lunch. Taco salad and chips and salsa. Taco bowl was freshly fried but still chewy and a bit soggy. The description said it had nacho cheese and sour cream. They were missing from my bowl. The filling had beans, rice, lettuce, avocados and ground beef. Needed a lot of salt but was good. I imagine the nacho cheese would have given it the salt it needed. I had to pay extra for the chips and salsa. I won't do that again. Chips were store bought! Surprising consider the taco shell was fresh. Salsa, red and green sauce were too spicy for me but very fresh and tasty. I would go back but I will check my order. read more

Stoped in with a friend, I had tacos that were pretty good, he had arroz con polo that was soupy with cheese. The salsa wasn't flavorful.

This small, hole in the wall place will surprise you. Though not much can be said about the dining experience and interior, the food makes up for that. Their steak tacos are so good and light on the wallet. Also, their fajitas are huge for the price and super tasty as well. Though I am disappointed with their free chips and salsa appetizer, I always go back to Taqueria for their tacos. I highly recommend stopping in. read more

Me and Fiance found this hidden gem while driving down E Winona Ave for other reasons and decided to give this a try. We had already tried most of the other mexican restaurants in Warsaw and were disappointed at the commercialization of their food that lacked authenticity. Taqueria El Comal was a breath of fresh air. Their portions are large, their prices reasonable, and their food out of this world. There is some charm that comes with eating this food where you can tell that these are family recipes (I'm not mexican, but their food had an authentic feel to it). The service was great and the sauces that they give at the table were amazing. (Ask for the hot sauce, its so delicious). We both ordered what we thought were pretty standard 1 person meals, My fiance ordered the Chicken Fajita and I ordered a weekend combo special of enchilada and tostada (made vegetarian). Both meals were enough to leave leftovers for at least 1 more meal. Overall, I would say that if we were craving mexican again, we would not go anywhere else in Warsaw. If you are expecting a high end experience this is not the place for you - if however you want real Mexican food that actually has flavor El Comal is your ticket. The tacos can either be had as American style or the more authentic Mexican style with your choice of juicy flavorful meat, corn tortillas, jalapenos, cilantro, and finally fresh onion. I appreciated the waitress asking if we wanted the jalapeno and onion when ordering because some folks just don't want the extra heat and they would go to waste. We also had the quesadilla with the pastor meat. The meat had big flavor and tasted like it had been made in house. The quesadilla was cooked perfectly and had a good balance of other ingredients. It was served with re-fried beans and Mexican rice. We also tried the queso dip with chips and it was also good, but the portion was on the smallish side and we were expecting the same big bold flavors of the other food. However this is a minor quibble. The servers were very friendly, suggested that we try the queso, and really kept things moving even though the restaurant was packed and they were struggling to keep things moving. Overall the combination of food, the energy of the place, the friendly servers, the nice mix of people that were eating there, the fact that the place was constantly busy and yet everyone was enjoying themselves makes this a must stop for authentic Mexican food.
