Sunrise Log Cabins - Eating "Al Fresco" at Sunrise Log Cabins...

My wife and I booked the "Briarwood" cabin at Sunrise Log cabins for our anniversary, and had a…read morewonderful experience! - for the price, we have seldom had a better experience! The cabin was fairly secluded, but not too far from shopping... It's in a back road, and though there were some other dwellings nearby, we never felt intruded upon or otherwise near anyone else (note: we were there in late winter, so the trees were bare... In the late spring/summer/fall, this wouldn't be a factor). The cabin itself was FLAWLESSLY maintained and equipped... We had plenty of firewood, propane, toilet paper, dishes, utensils, etc. Everything was clean and in it's place... The kitchen, bathroom, outdoor propane grill, and hot tub were immaculate... Decor was just what it should be; log cabin charming... Our cell phones had no service, but internet and satellite TV worked reliably... Even had a blue-ray player and a small but adequate sound-system that we could hear on the back porch while having a romantic dinner al fresco... Clean and functional bathroom with shower, bath, modern toilet, large capacity hot water tank, first aid kit, plunger, vacuum, etc... Seriously, better equipped than even your better motor lodges.. There are even some personal touches/fun games that the proprietors play with their guests, if you wish to participate (Just make sure to read the guest book/literature that is left for you!) :-) A day spa, this is not.. But for a TRUE quaint, "home-away-from-home," it is... We WILL be back, and WILL recommend to friends... Well done!!!

We stayed in the Briarwood cabin for two nights. The cabin was gorgeous and exceptionally clean,…read morethe kitchen was equipped with all of the necessities for cooking, the bed was comfortable, and the place was so cute and cozy. It is located close to the office and the larger cabin/lodge, but it is set in a way that we still had complete privacy. We enjoyed the cat that was often there when we opened the door, and also had a lot of fun with the dollar game! We spoke with the owners a couple of times during our stay and they were great as well! We will definitely be back! I can't think of any reason to stay anywhere else!

Mixed Experience at Hemlock Treehouse - Stunning but Poorly Prepared for Winter…read more Hemlock Treehouse is a beautiful and unique getaway, but unfortunately, our experience was marred by poor winter preparedness and unexpected costs. While the treehouse itself was stunning, safety concerns made our stay challenging. There were no railings by the hot tub, which caused me to lose balance and fall--especially concerning in icy conditions. I slipped again on the untreated driveway the following day, as no salt had been put down. Despite reaching out multiple times with concerns about the weather, we were not allowed to cancel or reschedule. Despite our warnings, it was disappointing that no effort was made to prepare the property for winter conditions. Additionally, the pricing structure felt misleading. Beyond the daily rate, we were charged at least $200 in additional fees, including cleaning charges and insurance, despite leaving the space clean and causing no damage. We also incurred nearly $100 in taxes, bringing our one-night stay to around $850. There was no mention of a deposit beforehand, so I strongly recommend clarifying all fees before booking. Another concern was the lack of attention to detail. Upon arrival, we found a welcome sign with someone else's name, initially making us worry that the treehouse had been double-booked--an unsettling experience on our honeymoon. While it was a mistake, it indicated that our arrival had not been adequately prepared for. To add to this, the sheets had a noticeable stain, further diminishing the experience. While the location and ambiance were superb, the lack of winter preparedness and the high costs made for a frustrating experience. If you're considering a stay here in the colder months, be prepared for unsafe conditions and additional expenses. Would I return? Maybe in better weather--but certainly not in winter. Update: yep, I'm pretty sure I broke my elbow. Still hurts the same when pressure is applied to the location of the injury. Off to the doctor to verify after work.

The cabin was stocked with dishes, flatware, cookware, and condiments. There are no TV channels, they do provide some movies, if you bring your own, do not bring Blu-ray. Our cabin was located at the end of a long, winding driveway. We could not see it behind the work truck parked in the driveway that was stuck in the snow. 3 times we tried our key in the wrong cabin. Tried to call the property manager twice but there was no service. We were so tired from working all day and then driving! Almost thought we were going to have to head straight back home. Finally we found our cabin about 1/4 mile from where we had to park our car. We were left with a plastic sled to pull our luggage and groceries for the weekend through the snow. All of this is understandable. Poor cell reception. Can't control the weather. We appreciated the sled. However, I wish the property manager had sent an email the morning of check in with a heads up about the driveway and parking and a better explanation of where we could find our cabin. I definitely would have packed much differently had I known we were kicking our stay off with such an adventure. Another note, the listing for our cabin displayed photos of a washer and dryer but when we arrived the machines were marked with a notice saying they were only to be used by housekeeping. Why advertise a feature that isn't actually available to your guests? Lastly, this rental company simply does not seem to believe in snow removal or using salt to prevent surfaces from icing over. The walkway to the check-in-office, steps to our cabin, and path to the hot tub were all covered in thick sheets of ice. Great potential but some kinks definitely need to be worked out. Felt like no one really cared to have our business or not.

Each of the cabins had a game table, fire pit and a hot tub so there was plenty to do in the cabins at night. The cabins were clean, well furnished and had most of the kitchen items we needed during our stay. We stayed in Jackson but most of the full group activities were in Rush Creek, both were perfect for our needs. We had one small AC issue in Jackson and the staff responded promptly and fixed it right away. The bed i slept in was heavenly and I got great sleep each night. Im an early riser so it was nice to have a little path off the back of our cabin, I went for a short hike and happened upon a beautiful wedding venue and some small gardens. We rented the Gray Wolf Lodge for two nights and it truly exceeded expectations…read more Gray Wolf said it would sleep a maximum of 12, we had 10 people (6 adults and 4 teenagers) and everyone was comfortable. I had booked the lodge in December for a June stay and all arrival instructions were clearly articulated. House was very clean, furniture was comfortable, and you are about 10 minutes from Old Man's Cave. If you need something from Logan it is more of a 25-30 minute drive to a Walmart or Kroger. Also included staying here is a pool pass good for 12. I highly recommend the Gray Wolf lodge. It was a great experience in the Hocking Hills.

We rented The Hitching Post cabin (Cabins by the Caves) for the weekend along with a zipline X-tour…read morereservation - prepaid. We arrived at Hocking Hills Saturday afternoon, hiked and hung out at the lodge. We then went to our cabin, arriving around 7:00 pm tired and ready for a campfire. But...the driveway was too steep for my SUV to climb. We attempted 4 times and gave up, there was no way my car was going to make it up the hill. We couldn't even see the cabin it was up a huge hill and around a bend. The reservation warned of a steep incline so I called the office when I made the reservation and was told that its only a problem in inclement weather - that was not true! I have a 2024 SUV, I do not have an old car that would be questionable. We couldn't get cell service to call the office so we left and drove to the nearest hotel thinking we would find somewhere else to stay. I reached a lady at Cabins by the Caves and was told we should have been able to get up the hill - her car gets up the hill with no problem and so does the cleaning ladies. Well - my car couldn't and I wasn't going to burn up the engine trying. She eventually gave me my money back and told us "never call again". We tried 4 hotels in the area, all were booked. We had no choice but to drive all the way back home. Needless to say our weekend was a bust. We lost money on our zipline tour and we lost our weekend. DO NOT RENT THIS CABIN WITHOUT A 4 WHEEL DRIVE!!
