It was my first time going with my boys. The main purpose was for the water part of the park. We went to the main splash pad area and as I was leaving in search of the splash pad with the big bucket that splashes, I find out that was the splash pad where it was supposed to be at but I was told that it was broken and they removed it. I go across from that splash pad where there's a ship and it's a mini wave pool for little kids. Well, turns out that ship, is OUT OF ORDER too. You can't climb it and you can't use the slides that come out of the sides. I didn't bother to ask. It's not like it was going to change the outcome. Next to the ship wave pool is a mini splash pad for even smaller children. The octopus that was suppose to have swings, NO SWINGS. There's a whale that has a slide inside it's mouth and there's another animal in there too that's suppose to have a slide: OUT OF ORDER. In this same pool area there's three slides that lead into a small section that you fall into. Maybe 2 feet deep: OUT OF ORDER... Honestly it was so sad to see the pattern on the water theme side of the park. The food: Off the charts. A personal pizza that's about 5 inches in diameter, $10.99! Let that sit there for a while. Really think about this. $11 dollars for a bite size pizza. $20 plus dollars for two of them! Which is what I got. That one hurt the most. Actually the $6 dollar SMALL soft serve... or was it medium? Either way, I had two licks. My toddler had two links and the ground had 100 drops of ice cream cause of how hot it was. Oh the souvenir shop even got some drips the way out. There's no straws at the park. Public enemy number one. ‍. If you have a toddler not drinking out of cups, be ready to pour it into their mouths. Will I return? Proooooobably not .... unless it's buy one ticket, 3 come in free. Speaking of entry fee: $50 dollars!! For adults and that's with a "discount" For a park with soooo many damaged things. There was a train by the lockers that was being looked at by the park mechanics that wAs also out of order!!! Actually, it's a HARD NO FOR ME. One and DONE deal for me. My son and I started a tradition of doing day trips together for a week during summer break. We did Quassy last year and had a great time. This year we decided on Lake Compounce and brought along one of my son's friends. This was a good decision on my part because they both tried things they might not have without the other. They also helped each other deal with the extremely long lines. Because I pre-ordered our tickets we were able to bypass the ticket line and go right to the entrance. Upon entering we took a right toward the rides area. We opted to do the water side later. I have to admit, I felt a little burned when we realized that most of the rides that we wanted to go on were shut down. After walking around the area and having a couple of rides shut down on us while we were waiting in line, we decided to keep walking until we found some thing to do. Having two10-year-old boys with me made the ghost shooting ride an easy choice. The line was very long. The ride was fun for the most part, but that was definitely a one and done kind of ride. The flume style ride was shut down as was the next one we went to. While waiting in line at the next ride, we were told they were mechanical issues, but they were still running it. We opted for the Ferris wheel. After walking into line, we were warned that they were having issues with that ride as well. So I took the boys and we did the next best thing...we hit the bumper cars. We eventually got on the Ferris wheel after waiting for them to reopen. So it wasn't a total bust. We decided to run out to the car and grab some stuff before we went to the other side of the park. Looking for the exit we found the well planned out, "walk through the gift shop" to leave the park. We had our hands stamped and went to the car to grab our stuff. Once we entered the water park area, we saw the decently sized lockers to rent. Online I saw that they started at $16 (on weekdays) and they go up according to size. Not knowing the sizes we just planned on bringing our stuff in their backpacks (Rule: 15"x15"x15"). There is a changing area that appears large and clean. The boys had a blast and didn't seem to mind the long waits in the lines. Since I didn't have anything to eat, I decided to hit a kiosk while the boys were waiting in a line. Without walking far away from the boys, the only option was a hotdog and hamburger place serving Nathan's hot dogs. I went over to the line and realized that I would have to buy the platter for $16 , including the hot dog and fries. Since I don't eat the fries or the bun, $16 was a little steep for just a hotdog. I opted not to eat anything here either. Unless you're smart enough to snag a chaise with an umbrella there's not a lot of coverage from the sun here. I did two separate applications of sunscreen, and still left looking like a lobster. The boys were a little pink too. Sunscreen is definitely a must. Now for the thrifty mama side of my review. Obviously buy everything half-price if you can. There's no getting around the $30 parking and as far as I can tell there was no discount available for that. Even with the discount it cost the three of us $90 just to get into the park. Pack snacks and food to either leave in the car or bring into the park. Just be sure to bring a soft sided cooler that is no bigger than 12"x12"x12" (another park rule). The souvenir cup is probably the way to go if you purchase it early and carry it around or store it. At about $25 it can get pretty pricey with a larger group. Its very important to keep in mind, Lake Compounce went cashless. They do offer machines that you can turn cash into cards. Overall, I would rate our trip a 2.5, but because I can't do that I'll give them a 3. I was very disappointed to pay that amount of money and have rides either shut down on us or to have been mechanically closed. It was very disappointing to me, for the boys' first ever visit. If you can keep your kids away from the games ($10+) and get them to share meals, you might not go broke. If you're looking to try to stay healthy, definitely pack something to eat, because you won't find many options here. read more

A year ago, our family went to Lake Compounce and found most of the rides were closed. It was a disappointing day and we notified customer service. They emailed us back very apologetically and then offered us new tickets when rides would be fixed and available. When we reached out this summer to get our complimentary tickets, we were notified that those tickets had an expiration in October 2023, but at no point in September 2023 were we told this. After forwarding our correspondence to show that there weren't any caveats in the initial promise, LC's customer service ignored our emails. We will NOT be returning to Lake Compounce considering it's flawed customer service and lack of care for an annual family experience. Our kids are heartbroken. read more

I take my son and a couple of friends here every year. They have a great time; we've recently started going all-in and renting a cabana, getting the speed pass, etc. My husband and I love the water slides, and my son likes the lazy river and wave pool. Everything is well-run and pretty clean (as far as amusement parks go). The bad: Every year, about half of the water slides are out of order. We are baffled by this, because the park's operating season is about 2 months long, what with New England summers being so brief. It seems like in the other 10 months, they'd be working on getting everything usable. 2021 we figured, pandemic supply shortages etc. But it's 2023 and still, half the slides are not open. Obviously if there's a safety issue found, please keep them closed-- but it's different slides each visit, not the same slides closed for years at a time. It's so confusing. read more

I love that this amusement park included a water park as well! I'd say majority of it is catered towards children but there were a couple of larger rides. Lines were not long at all, we went on a Saturday during Labor Day Weekend and got to the front at 10:15. They started letting people in the parking lot at 10:30 and we were in the park on 11am on the dot, when they open. If you have children I would definitely recommend this Amusement/water park! Went to the water park. Paid $88 for me and my daughter. Way too many water slides closed. Then in the middle of the day their lazy river closed. We went on a whopping total of 2 water slides all day and then did wave pool. Too many things closed and not enough staff at the water park. Not worth the 1 hr 15 min ride each way and the $88. Did not get out moneys worth and will not visit again. Disappointed. Wanted it to be fun but it just didn't happen. Such a bummer. Committed my Sunday and was let down big time. read more

Fun and family friendly. Our group had people from ages 6 to 65. Great price, park was not over crowded and we were able to ride everything we wanted in one day. Park was clean and well maintained. Food was good. Fun games to play with prizes that aren't terrible. I have one tiny complaint, and that is that we bought the souvenir cup and all of the stations had no ice. Came here with my softball team after a tournament. We got the Bites and Pints for everyone, it was kind of a joke. The cups are less than 1/2 the size of a full cup. 50% of the stations were out of food selections or specialty drink. Many of the kids working were very unhappy due to patrons being disrespectful to them with no management in sight to support these kids. It was terrifying to watch as one kid was dealing with being overworked and dehydrated from the sun and no break for 5+ hrs! $10.99 for warm beer. The kids were over serving in droves. I watched a man order 12 beers and went around the corner and drank all by himself and a buddy. It was amazing to watch the carry 6 beers a piece. Also, at around 5pm, the park had sold out of bottled water! Again, no management in sight to find and we went to 6+ stores, food areas for water bottles. No bottle water. Seriously? On a 85 degree day! So dangerous and drunken people everywhere. Families be aware! In advance! I was actually shocked how incredibly disappointed we were in the consessions! Come for the rides, people watching. For such a wealthy state, this park seemed to attract the armpit of CT's 'finest' constituents. Some kids grow up with quassy or six flags as their go to amusement park- mine was Lake Compounce. I cannot even count how many times I have gone here either for field trips when I was in school, fright nights or now most recently the holiday lights. The rides have a great variety! Most recently I saw they added another intense coaster which I can't wait to try in the summer time. Boulder dash is a classic as well as zoomerang and the sawmill plunge. The holiday lights experience was also pretty neat. The park was decorated with a ton of beautiful Christmas lights and had a seriously massive Christmas tree in the center. Why go to Rockefeller center when we have this huge tree?! I definitely recommend this park! Prices are just a bit steep. read more

I really enjoyed this place and wish I could have stayed longer and actually done all the rides but a MAJOR rainstorm hit about 3 or 4 hours into our stay and we had to leave since they closed down. The rides I did get to go on were extremely fun. I found this place to be affordable. I will say the service at Pinks is painfully slow but after speaking with an employee, I understand you are short staffed so I get it. All the employees were friendly and I just wish the gift store could have been left opened and not closed right away. I went on a Sunday obviously going to be busy, the pizza place next to the water park was very busy, many people ordering full pizzas. First off, they couldn't serve some people because there were burnt slices, and once I finally got to the front they didn't accept cash and I get if they didn't accept it at all but why not assume there's people who can only pay with cash. But anyways the guy who eventually took my order with a credit card had attitude to me and my friend for no reason after we ordered very nicely. It took like 45+ minutes for ONE slice of cheese pizza. Multiple people who ordered AFTER us got their pizza first and the excuse was "they had a lot of full pizza orders". Some parents had started complaining to them that their kids were starving, and they screamed next to us and hurt my ears. Then last time I went, I wanted to go on the pirate ship with my 2 friends. It was full but we wanted to go to the back of the ship. The guy in charge told us it can fit 5-6 people per seat. So we went to the back with these 3 other girls, and the guy told us we had to move out of the seat and find a new one. Now this time we went we were staying at the wave pool for most of the time, and it wasn't too crowded until later it started to get more hot so more people started to come into the pool. Many people started splashing, kicking, hitting, bumping into, and just coming into our space where we were already crowded enough. Lines are absolutely ridiculous for every single ride. Now the staff were pretty good like they would let you on a ride if you could fit in by like 1 or 2 people. The rides were, by and large, in good condition and fun to ride, with Boulder Dash being the exception; it's in such rough shape that large sections of the coaster are physically painful to ride. The park's biggest problem, however, is the hygiene; multiple rides have trash strewn throughout the queues, and the queue to go on the Flytrap waterslide had a large amount of animal poop on the ground that had not been cleaned up almost an hour after opening. read more

This is our 2nd visit this year. Today was just a regular ride day. I have to say I didn't see that much disinfecting in between rides and at almost every ride the hand sanitizers were EMPTY.... Those were just a few littlthings I picked up on . Now onto Pinky's. We stopped there for lunch order was simple 3 burger, 1 dog & 3 fries .. we actually wanted a chilli dog NO chilli , would begetting chilli for at least 30 minutes , we were there at 12:15, shouldn't it had already been taken care of at opening ? I visited this theme park with my family and friends yesterday. Whoever is in charge of the theme park needs to do better in terms of customer service and access. We arrived at the park for opening and we went to use the bathroom. Arriving as soon as the park opens the bathroom should not smell as if it was not cleaned properly. The stench of feces and urine was overwhelming. There were also a lot of closed areas/stations that should be opened to provide customers with food, water and snacks. The one thing that should be available at theme parks is funnel cake. When my family and I arrived to get funnel cake we were informed that there was no more funnel cake available. That is completely absurd. The bathrooms did not have adequate toilet paper in their stalls and they were filthy. Garbage cans were filled to capacity and they weren't being emptied. Because the garbage cans weren't being emptied there was always a swarm of bees all over the garbage. When my family and I went to purchase food we waited in line for over an hour. There were other families waiting and some customers became frustrated and started using profanity towards the staff. There were also customers returning requesting refunds and the line was held up even more due to the staff providing the customers with refunds instead of taking/fulfilling orders for the waiting customers. There were also rides that were being shut down throughout the day leaving customers with a limited variety of rides. Also there were only 6 bumper cars out of 15 that were operational. It was also difficult to find park staff to tend to the conditions in the park. The customer service in this park is poor. While the variety of rides and games were fine this park doesn't measure up. My family and I will not be returning. I hope that service gets better at this establishment because you will lose customers. read more

Holiday Lights at Lake Compounce, this was the first time I'd heard of it. Went on Saturday night not long after dark. First, finding the actual entrance can be tricky. I used GPS and it put us at the park employee/maintenance area. After attempting to find another entrance a couple more times, we pulled in and talked to security. I'm guessing this happens quite often as he immediately gave us a small sheet with printed directions. At the top it said to put in the address that I had used (didn't work), then security pointed us out of the park following the street by street way from the sheet. I'm still not sure how we ended up at the right area. It was quite a ways away. Parking is $7 and I was rather surprised at that being this was a night event. We followed the crowd to the gate through the lit up tunnel and trees decorated. It definitely was festive. Then had my bagged checked. Already had tickets, made it easier. Upon entering the park, your eyes are immediately drawn to a very large decorated tree. Everyone is standing around taking pictures. It's quite lovely. This is long as it is... here are the highlights: 1. $7-Parking, park decorated festive. 2. Holiday Lights is geared toward kids age 10 and under. The rides that are open are for smaller children. 3. Plenty of food kiosks are open. 4. The shops for crafts- making your own ornament... etc. reasonable cost. 5. Santa and various light up toys in his shop. ($$ picture package) read more

This place was awful. Every staff member but one was rude. You need to use a guest pass? Wait 40 min in guest relation line. Need your refill cup? Wait in another 40 minute line inside the park that's also for people having other issues just to guarantee a slow wait time. Soda machines all just spitting out soda. Lame bare minimum Halloween decorations. Hour+ lines. 30 dollar parking. They set it up like they think they are six flags without any of the good things. We did have a very nice time this summer at the park. The water park was a blast and the rides were a lot of fun. Only complaints are that many of the rides were down and not running. Also, a big complaint is that parking prices are extremely high. Pretty much the cost of another full price ticket. And the lockers for the water park are very expensive and extremely small so we needed to purchase two. This should definitely be changed. read more

Very disappointed in our experience on Oct 15. For starters, $30 to park in a gravel lot is excessive and nothing short of pure corporate greed. Not a great way to start our visit. Full disclosure, my primary reason to visit this park was to ride Boulder Dash. Their website noted it was closed Fri Oct 14, I called and was told it would be open the 15th, so we adjusted our plans. Upon arrival it changed to "Delayed Opening," before ultimately being "unavailable" the entire day. Same with Phobia. In fact, the only adult coaster open was Wildcat, which I appreciate for historical value but was not worth an hour wait. I understand the importance of maintenance and safety, and that things happen with machinery, but to have 2 headline attractions closed during some of your busiest nights of the season should be an embarrassment and was a huge disappointment. This is a classic "old school" amusement park. It's not very large, and is set on a beautiful hillside overlooking a lake. The park was clean and looked just fine, but something was clearly off on our visit. As is common for parks, the food prices are far from reasonable for the quality, so we left after riding what was open, and came back later the same day. I will say the park was nicely decorated for Halloween. Although, I think we saw at most 2 "scare actors" in the "scare zones" and we chose not to wait in the packed queues for any of the houses...one of which, again, we had to pay extra for? So strange... I had high hopes for this park, being a fan of Kennywood and historical smaller parks like these in general. This place is a joke. It has gone done-hill drastically. None of us could get ice for our soda after 1pm. 4 of the refill stations were out of ice and most sodas. After spending $25 / cup for unlimited refills. This is totally unacceptable. One kid needed medical attention due to the lack of cold hydration. We spent around $300 in tickets and another $200-$300 on food and beverage. I would not recommend this park again. They allowed too many people in and could not handle it, though they took our cash. I was told to find a person wearing a yellow Lake Compounce Shirt, better luck finding a cold drink; which we never did find either after 4pm. There were no lack of staff for the games of chance; which of course cost us more money. The food and drink lines were almost as long as the roller coaster rides! We will skip this park for now on. Wow is it expensive! We went yesterday on a flash sale so the price was 30 a person, worth it. The water park was a mob scene but that is not there problem. Two things I was not a fan of were that Thunder Rapids closed at 5 when everything else was open until 8 and wild cat and the flume ride were down. A pet peeve for me constantly was the ,"cashless" stuff it sounds good but slows down processing while we wait for the transaction to go thru. Also, the main building was very understaffed but the portions were healthy size and food actually was not too bad. So that was ok. It was a good but expensive day. read more

went today for 4th of july and honestly it wasn't great. wayyyyy too crowded (i feel like there should be a limit to the amount of people in amusement parks) lines in every single ride including the kid pools???. wave pool was closed for more than have of the time for what reason?? You cannot get into a water ride or pool unless 3 other people left the pool already AND I was suspiciously charged $24 from my debit card and I have no idea why or how. the food was good for the price which is expensive to be honest but they charge you for refills?? like what's insane, so if i really need a drink i have to pay $8 for it. everything was run so stupidly. the dry rides themselves are fun but again the lines are insanely long. On one of the rides a friend of mine took out his phone to record the fun moment and they stopped the ENTIRE RIDE MID WAY THROUGH and told him to stop recording and leave????!!!! That friend doesn't speak an ounce of english and was so confused as to why he was being yelled at but the workers didn't care. My boyfriend and I were on the line to get on the famous roller coast boulder dash but i had left the line because i had an accident with my cycle... i come back to the line and security stops me and tells me i cannot skip the line. I explain that my boyfriend is in line already and i had to get off because i had an emergency and he really told me i couldn't because it's policy. so i waited 45 minutes for nothing?? it was an emergency!!! and as a women i couldn't control what was happening. honestly has a kid i enjoyed this park so much but now as an adult i see that it's just an overpriced boat lod of crap. An excellent amusement experience with too many hidden or unexpected fees to be considered fair. I get it, amusement parks aren't cheap, and many like myself are happy to pay a high ticket price w/ service fees in order to get into the park. But once you're in the park, there's a steep price for parking, locker rentals & more. If fair, these operational costs would be covered by the ticket price, but the additional costs for sedentary activities, especially parking, is absurd. Beyond that, Lake Compounce is a small, but enjoyable experience for a day. The rides are close to each other, plenty of variety, and plenty of spaces to get out of the sun. No two rides are alike, and the lines move pretty quickly. read more

We've been family season pass holders here for many years and whilst in some respects they're modernizing and updating there are some serious issues. We went today for the first time this season and security was stricter (no issue there!) and the pass processing was smooth and quick. Getting rid of the free drinks was understandably a business decision but it was a huge part of the draw for us. Increasing numbers of rides are shut down or not available. The Revolution was in pieces and reportedly out for the season! The Pirate Ship and Log Flume were closed and Down Time had my daughter queuing for 10 minutes and seated and fastened in only to be then made to get off and the ride shut down for maintenance. Obviously safety is #1 but shut the ride down before you raise kids hopes and take them off! After that we decided to treat ourselves to a Berry Cheesecake Funnel cake only to be told they were out of the ingredients which take a month to deliver (bad planning much??) and told that the others were better anyway, which I found quite presumptuous! Quite a disappointing day and if we'd paid for a one day pass we'd be really upset. Fair warning for people planning a single day of fun at the park!! read more

This park is complete trash!! Half the rides were closed including the big rollercoaster as well as most the rides in the water park. Even the big splash area with the giant bucket that dumps water was down. Lazy river down. Family raft ride down. They take your money for the ticket and price gouge you on parking. ( over 30 dollars) and then when you get inside you are perplexed. The food is ridiculous in price and the ice machines didn't work. Also becuase most of the rides are down you are waiting in line for hours for the ones that are open. I will probably never return for that experience. Great family park. Went early in the season, not everything was open. Also, the lines for the season passes was long. The staff was friendly and helpful as needed. Boulder Dash is my favorite coaster and I couldn't wait to ride it with my grandson. Awesome as always. Three star review because of the lack of free drinks. This was was a nice touch and I'm sure didn't cost the park that much to provide given the price of tickets. We got a great deal going during the week... they were charging adults at kids prices. Entry was easy, they distanced parked cars, took our temp, sanitizer everywhere, wiped down inside ride cars constantly. I observed many employees asking guests to put their masks on, or over the nose a lot. We didn't wait more that 5-15 min for rides. Many rides were not operating due to limited capacity, and the cost of running them. We were disappointed that a few more popular rides were chosen to not run. Our one real gripe was with the Parkway Diner experience... the person taking our order at the grill couldn't remember our 3 meals even after 4 repetitions of them. It seemed the food prep was highly unorganized and inefficient. The food was only so so at best and was pricy to boot for what we got. It should be noted that they were not super busy at the time, so there's no reason why our order was confusing.
