Cabana 14 lower level by the wave pool
    Adrianne T.

Awesome little park in our little town of East Durham . When you go , if you can, splurge for a cabana . It was so worth it ! Came with a cooler of water and your own locker/safe located right in the cabana .

The old Troy and Schenectady Railroad, now a rail-trail, was also pleasant to walk along through the woods. Admittedly, I enjoyed it more for its former railroad history than as an actual paved trail but there enough things to do and see including a large tunnel that went under Route 9 and a dusty cement plant. The water park area is fantastic with lots of spraying pipes and hoses and such in the kiddie spray area. There are several pools too for different swim levels and one had diving boards. Changing rooms with free lockers are provided, and there is a concession stand on one end that sells hamburgers, hot dogs, nachos, and the like. There is one downside though: they ID everyone that comes in. Colonie residents pay $7 each, and non-residents pay $12 each. That is for the day. It isn't a lot of money, and I believe you can purchase season passes to save money. But, on the day we came I didn't think to bring my license and they absolutely wouldn't let me in without some form of ID or proof of address. They asked if I had old mail in my car (nope), a way to check a bill on my [flip] phone (nope), insurance registration (nope), etc. We paid the $5 non-resident premium and moved on. I won't make that mistake again, and as a Colonie resident I sort of appreciate why they are doing it, but it was annoying.

I really love the High Diving board and I wish my girlfriend could go swimming with me!read more

As someone who doesn't like getting caught in the rain (and don't get me started on pina coladas),…read morethe whole concept of spray parks is pretty new to me. But being a new parent, to beat the heat I needed to explore some new options and we have been traveling with our toddler to various nearby spray parks lately. By far, this is the best we have been to. There are a lot of great things going for it. First, it has lots of water spray jets which aim in different directions, put out water at different intensity levels, and randomly (seemingly, at least) go on and off. For a toddler, there are a couple that are fun to play with that aren't too strong to be scary. However, there are also some that are perfect for young teenagers who want to run around and cause mayham. The entire area is surrounded by a security fence, which means your kid can't easily wander off (you are still watching them, aren't you?). Surrounding the area is a pavilion with tables for snack time, a nearby bathroom/changing area, and many shade producing trees. While we were here on a Sunday afternoon, at least 30 kids came and went in about a half-hour. It is a popular place, but everyone shared toys and had fun. Even my wife, who didn't appreciate getting sprayed. (How was I to know?) This place takes the best part of a water park... the spraying water... and puts it in a more approachable scale for little ones. And I haven't even mentioned the rest of the park (with slides, a train, swings, teeter-totter, etc.) that are within seconds from here. And the ice cream place next door... uh oh, there go all of the calories I just burned running from the water!

Amazing to me I hadn't tried this spot for so long, but no regrets now, what an incredible disappointment. More than anything, I was shocked by the lack of options and lack of creativity in those options. There is a giant lazy river, an upstairs treehouse for younger kids and three slides you see from the northway and you will wait an inordinately long time to go down. That's about it, unless you pay for a special area that, honestly, had like one or two other sad looking wave pools anyway. There is one tiny adult-only hot tub that sad adults can cram in for a few uncomfortable kid-free minutes. The quality is poor -- any adult over five feet accompanying their kid in the wave pool will probably leave with scraped knees from the cheap floor. The water is barely kept warm enough. And don't even ask about the cheap plastic food and the surly, possibly meth-addled service it comes with. All this for an absurdly high price in a crowded venue. Might keep your kid entertained for a bit, but even our son got bored quicker than we expected.

It was like being in a winter wonderland. Scheduled activities every hour. Honestly spent more time doing that then water park. We ate at Hurricane Wings & Grill service was good a little slow but doable. NYE we did the arcade, which the kids liked. They had balloons, lights, a DJ, and handed out blowers & noise makers. For midnight they gave everyone sparkling cider before the balloon drop. It did get very packed but that was expected. Will go back with the family again!

If you're an adult looking for a Waterpark adventure, skip! It's not that big of a place, they have a couple of water slides for adults but that's about it. All catered to kids, their hot pool (the only adult fare I'm ok with) is quite small and CROWDED. As for the food... forget about it lol, finger food at its best. Nice smiling attendants though, although I wished there's more to this place besides that. There's something missing in this place that I can't explain... anyways... not a good experience.

The lazy river was closed sadly and wifi was not working on the 4th floor. What made up for those was the front desk willing to move us to another room with good wifi and just good customer service in general. Our room thankfully was fairly clean, roomy, and modern, which we were happy about. We got lucky and was able to check in upon arrival at 1pm. (Note: bring earplugs if you are a light sleeper as it seems kids running through the halls are inevitable) The day we came they happen to have Octoberfest from 4-8pm and my kids loved their outdoor free jumping pillow and playground by the fire pits. The outdoor area was beautiful and there is even a walktrail you can go on that leads you to the paintball area. Most other activities, you need to pay extra. My family enjoyed the arcade section as there was something for every age but quite pricey. We end up spending $50 and you need over 2,000 tickets to get any decent prize. The next day we went to Dunkin donuts for breakfast and went elsewhere for hiking and ate lunch in Beacon, NY which was nice. Overall one night was enough and ideal for a short getaway for ages 6-10.
