Very clean inside with outdoor patio seating. Friendly service and lots of chocolate choices. They have hot chocolate and different degrees of darkness to it. The 72% was perfect and only slightly sweet. The pieces of chocolate truffle are delicious as well. Would recommend if you are craving chocolate! read more

When we travel, which hasn't been often for us, we not only figure out what sightseeing we want to do and what hotels to stay at, but a huge part of it revolves around the food. Of course it does !! I look at others who deal with food on the fly, meaning they'll just grab something with no aforethought, and I'm thinking... NO f'ing way. I want the scoop on what's good, what isn't, to include meal food, snack-type foods, and my favorite, the sweet factor. Gotta hit local bakery and chocolate shops and gotta know ahead of time where those are and when they're open. As is the case with Vermont, we found A GREAT MANY places either close early (or earlier than we'd prefer) or aren't even open the days we were floating through the various towns. However, Lake Champlain Chocolates was one of the few places that is open seven days a week. Yay, no pressure to beat the clock here. Inviting presentation of beautifully crafted chocolates, and let me tell you, they tasted as wonderful as they looked. We bought and devoured the following: 1. chocolate covered orange rinds - excellent quality chocolate and extremely fresh orange rind. 2. chocolate covered apricots - same excellent chocolate, but SUPER IMPRESSED with how soft and fresh the dried apricot slices were. Really plump and easy to bite into, and the chocolate just melted in our mouths. The BEST I've had !! 3. chocolate caramels - hard to go wrong with these. Delicious... and just the right amount of chew. 4. Hazelnut truffle, champagne truffle, and a piece of toffee - we only bought one of each of these and we're sorry that was all. They were delicious, but only getting one small bite of each wasn't enough. It's difficult to know how much to get; plus we didn't want to overindulge at the beginning of our trip. Now I'm thinking, shoulda overindulged, lol. Oh well. This is a great place to stop if you want something sweet, if you want INCREDIBLY FRESH chocolates, not to mention DELICIOUS chocolates, and I understand that they are really well known for their hot chocolate, too !! However, we were there during an unseasonably hot summer day (according to the locals), so we were vying for nothing but cooling off type things. We always visit Lake Champlain Chocolates in our annual trip to Stowe, VT. The moment you step in the store, you smell delicious chocolate. While the prices are expensive, I would highly recommend the "second rate" shelf -- these are chocolate pieces that didn't come out perfect in the production process but guess what, they still taste DELCIOUS. And, they are a much for affordable price. There is a whole shelf were our kids can pick their pieces in little bags. And one day, I must try the hot chocolate as it always looks so good. Right next to this shop is a flannel store, jewelry/silver store and also Cabot cheese -- definitely worth visiting this section of Stowe if you're in the area. read more

Ok, I always say a review will be short and that almost never happens. I think when I say that...I curse myself or something like that haha. This! I do BELIEVE will be short! An adorable little chocolate shop located in the beautiful, quaint, very scenic, homey, one of Americas most picturesque little towns. I'm of course talking about..:Stowe, Vermont. Stowe, tiny in size (population is like 700 ppl) is a very very busy little town. One road takes you right into downtown and as fast as like 4 blinks of your eyes...you're headed out of Stowe! Shortly after your entrance into this magical little town, on the left is a little chocolate shop: Lake Champlain Chocolates. You can smell the deliciousness from outside. The side of the building has a large postcard painted on it with Stowe Vermont's across it. It's a tourists dream! Haha! I however, did not get my pic taken with it, but did include a photo of it so you can see how tourists and basically any social media users...would love it...MOST social media users haha! The store is small and quaint just like the amazing little town it is located in. A beautiful selection of chocolates to choose from. I did include pics if interested. They have the front counter where you can buy individual pieces or by the pound. Opposite is the wall with chocolate bars, balls, all kinds of good stuff! ANNND! And! They have organic chocolates!! Absolutely love that! If you go to Stowe, I would say there is a....100% chance you will go into this store and you won't leave empty handed. Amazing how so many wonderful treats come from Vermont or how many amazing treats Vermont has to offer. I know most states do, but there's something extra special about the things offered in the beautiful state of Vermont. The staff here is very friendly. They run a great business. They have every right to be super proud of their little shop and the happiness they bring people with their delicious chocolates. Who doesn't love chocolate? Ya know! I mean, cmon! Especially chocolates that are sold at stores like this! REAL chocolate! Not that run of the mill crap you can buy anywhere. Lake Champlain Chocolates, thank you for an amazing little experience in your store. It was my first time there. Hell, this was my first time in Vermont and I grew up in upstate NY, haha! I was very excited to try this place after having tried some of their chocolate previously. My Mom & I were picking out several items and I noticed a fly landing on some of the choc. The lady then went to pick up chocolate that I had just seen it land on so I notified her and she just put it back instead of throwing it away. She all but rolled her eyes at me. She seemed completely unbothered by the flies. I was shocked especially given the cost of the chocolate. The chocolate is delicious but this along with the service left a bad taste. read more

Discovered this chocolate shop while staying in Stowe for a ski trip. They have great chocolate options for gifts or to try for yourself. They are a bit pricey but well worth it. They also have samples out for you to try and will help with anything you ask or inquire about. Street parking outside is easy to find and free. This inside is very bright and well organized. I purchased a few of their chocolate bars to try out as I loved how many dark chocolate options they offered. read more

Cute shop, but I found the two ladies working here to be very rude. It was the first place we walked into when we visited Stowe, so it was unfortunate to be met by such unfriendliness. My recommendation to anyone visiting, take a picture by the Stowe mural outside the shop and then get your coffee and treats elsewhere. A slice of chocolate heaven here. Cute little place packed with chocolate delights. Order by the piece or purchased nicely packaged gifts. Ice cream and beverages were also available. The affogato was such a hit, we had to come back a second time. The old world hot chocolate was rich with just enough sweetness to satisfy, especially when topped with the homemade marshmallow. Was excited to try these chocolates, but they were not good and way overpriced! We got 4 different types of truffles, and they all tasted the same. I can't even really explain the taste because they really didn't have much of one. We also got the maple pecan bark and didn't eat it because it tasted burned. Save your money! read more

This took the place of Laughing Moon Chocolates and it's a poor substitute. The selection is mostly just truffles and things with nuts. No chocolate covered pretzels, no chocolate covered graham crackers, nothing like that. We used to go to Laughing Moon on our annual trip to Stowe but probably won't come back here. They did honor a 10% discount that LM used to give to GMI guests, which was nice. read more
