I expected it to be a bit more reasonable as we were at the source, but all bags were at least $18 and individual pieces were at least $3. This one had the factory second chocolates and a larger store front than others but nothing special to this location versus the others. The chocolate is good but not particularly unique or special. $5 for a tiny chocolate bar is very pricey. $4 for a tiny truffle is a lot. The "award winning" ice cream was icy and not the freshest. We got the vodka cherry cordials, a champagne truffle, their seasonal marzipan, and some assorted slabs of chocolate bark - and they were all pretty sweet, but not overly heavy! I was pleasantly surprised with their alcohol-infused bites as I was hardly able to taste the alcohol, but I was able to feel its presence with each bite. My absolute favorite American chocolate company. I love their chocolate truffles. You can order from their website. Well-packaged during shipping and the smell...OMG, it's chocolate Heaven! Definitely on the pricier side but for gifts and special occasions, these chocolates are sure to impress. I haven't been to their stores in Vermont, but their website is easy to navigate. I sometimes like when people are not personable so I don't have to be personable back. The items in here are quite pricey. Bring back the Belgian Chocolate ice cream! It was exceptional! LCC no longer uses Belgian chocolate for this flavor and the difference is obvious to those of us who enjoyed it for so many years. Lake Champlain Chocolates has always been a place to go to get a treat, and it's consistently a wonderful experience. This time we got a lesson from the head barista Adrienne about how to make coffee, and what the cafe stands for. The staff was so accommodating and kind, and really strived to make your experience wonderful! My iced hazelnut latte was delicious and tasted like a dessert. Had a great time on the factory tour! I went back in early March before the world changed and had a nice tour where they taught me all about how chocolate is made, gave samples, and showed me the production area. I bought a bunch of chocolates and loved them all, especially the apple cider filled chocolate (it was a while ago, I don't remember exactly what it was but that was my favorite). Stopped into Lake Champlain Chocolates on Sunday afternoon. Enjoyed a few sweet treats as we explored Burlington. Quality: Tried some different chocolate options as well as a Small Hot Chocolate. They have lots of truffles, bark, and bars on display. I found the Pumpkin Truffle and Dark Chocolate Raspberry to be my favorite of the bunch I sampled. The Small Hot Chocolate was also quite good, we stuck with Traditional, but I was very curious about the other options. Quantity: A Small Hot Chocolate to share was perfect as it is very rich. Value: $4.25 for a Small Hot Chocolate. Assorted prices for different chocolate pieces. Ambiance: Lake Champlain Chocolates has two locations in Burlington, we visited the production facility location. They have a large room, that has all the chocolate options on display as well as a drink counter. Inside they have some seating as well as a few tables outside. I believe they also run tours and tastings at certain times. Crowd: Only two other guests on Sunday afternoon. Service: Everyone we interacted with was very helpful and kind. Amazing chocolates! Super friendly and helpful staff. The staff offered great suggestions such as their sweet and pillowy marshmallows (even offering us a taste!) and explained the upcoming events as well as the current offerings during the pandemic. We came for the self-guided factory "tour," but during the pandemic that isn't much. It's really just looking through the window at the factory. For some chocolate on a budget be sure to check out their factory seconds. We were able to get 2 packs of ten truffles for $15! We also picked up some specialty chocolates -- chocolate dipped apricots and chocolate covered apple cider caramels which tasted strongly of apple cider. The chocolate is tempered to perfection and melts easily, so if it's hot out be sure to bring an insulated container. Although the factory tour wasn't what we expected, I would still recommend Champlain Chocolates Factory due to their melt-in-your mouth chocolates and friendly staff. read more

I got some of the best chocolate bars I've had in a long time from where while I was on vacation. The coconut dark chocolate bar was amazing! I took some home and am worrying about rationing them so I don't run out too fast. I brought friends/family home some of the dark chocolate and maple caramel bars and everyone that had it loved it. I highly recommend going here for souvenirs on vacation or just to get a good specialty candy bar if you're a local. It's neat to see the chocolate making process through the window that they have as well. There's this location and I also went into the downtown location. The Easter bunny was on the house spreading Easter cheer and they were doing free chocolate Easter egg tastings all day... there was an informative presentation on cocoa pods and plants and where chocolate comes from done and there was ice cold water to cleanse the palette with between tastings.... exquisite selection of candy in bulk, candy bars, nuggets, artisan chocolates and they had four chocolate sculptures on display. We stopped in a half hour before close and were treated like we were a problem. The girl at the ice cream counter went so far as to tell my daughter that her shake would take awhile because they had already cleaned up. Then she gave us our ice cream in cups despite asking for cones. She sighed when I asked if we could have them on top. The chocolate counter went a little better. She wasn't as annoyed we were there. She did have to stop looking at her phone before she rang us up. We spent 50+ dollars and no one greeted us, acknowledged us, or thanked us for coming. Chocolate covered apple cider caramels. At first, I was like why? Not necessary. I was wrong and I will be back for more. They are just sweet enough and the cider pairs well with chocolate. My partner enjoyed the peanut butter cups. One can take a tour, purchase delicious seconds (the candy that isn't up to the aesthetic standards) and get chocolate in liquid form- hot chocolate, lattes and milkshakes. The staff was helpful if you have questions or need recommendations for gifts and etc. I would suggest skipping the pre packaged items if you can get them near you. However, I noticed some deals throughout the store. The chocolate caramels, nut barks and truffles will keep for a week if stored properly. Lastly, it does add up quickly, so try to not eat with your eyes! read more

We have loved LCC for a loooooong time! When we lived in Burlington, we would make it a point to bring all of our visitors to the factory store, or at the very least the location on Church St. We just brought our two small children through and were shocked by how expensive the chocolate is! Factory seconds were always reasonably priced - maybe $12/lb. it's $23/lb!!! Canisters of hot chocolate were $8 and now up to $12.50! It's outrageous. Delicious. But outrageous. We'll obviously be back next time we're in town because it's such a fun spot, but wow! read more

I was leaning towards 2 stars, but they do have a little display upstairs that offers free samples, of which one could take unfair advantage if one was so inclined, so I'm tacking one on out of guilt. As others have stated, no tours on weekends, but that makes sense since everybody needs some days off. Guess they could do Mon/Tues as an alternative but I don't want to cause a rebellion among the employees who have a good deal. The fact is, this is a perfectly nice place with good chocolate, assuming you stick to acceptable additives like caramel and nuts; they do offer a selection of weird flavors like they've been watching too much Food Network. Main problem is the price. I am NOT spending 6 bucks for a little chunky bar. Perhaps if it was mindblowing, but it's not. Just good. Check their website- $50 a pound for English toffee. Whaaaaat?! Now go to the See's website for a superior product at half the price. Or better yet, call my niece who makes it herself and try to get on her Christmas mailing list.
