We stopped by this bakery because the kids were desperate for a sugar fix. Located smack in the center of downtown Hanover, they serve a wide variety of sweet options, including croissants, pastries, cakes, bonbons, tarts, breads, mousses and mochas. We got the kids some sweets and the adults among us grabbed a few sandwiches. The sweets went over swimmingly, but the sandwiches were awful. They were very expensive, not flavorful, and extremely basic (think soggy bread with a lot of hummus but not much else). This place seems to be a great option for birthday cakes and morning pastries, but I would advise getting your sandwiches elsewhere. read more

What an unpleasant experience. I've been in Hanover for 20 years and this is my first time at My Brigadero; unfortunately, it will also be my last visit. I walked in and saw a register to my left, next to a pastry case. Then I saw straight ahead another register next to a case of the assortment of brigadeiros. I wanted a couple of brigadeiros, so i walked up to that register and waited behind another customer. The customer and the cashier (tall, dirty blond hair in a high bun) glanced at me and continued to have personal conversation and I just thought maybe they assumed I needed more time to look. I was ready to order and so I stood and waited but the cashier and the customer just moved down the counter. The cashier actually came out from behind the counter to continue her personal conversation. Wild! You never see that. I was a bit confused but just stood there, continuing to wait for assistance. After a few minutes, a different employee (a bit older with bright orange nails) came up and asked if I needed something. She had an attitude of annoyance, like I was inconveniencing her. I asked for two brigadeiros, a peanut truffle and a rainbow one. She said "oh, no, you need to order over there" as she pointed to the register near the pastries and I said "ah, i didn't know that, I just saw two registers." and she just was so condescending in saying "you order there and here is where you pick it up." it's not what she said, it's how she said it. Maybe grab the two things I ordered and tell me to pay at the first register. Maybe ask if this is my first time and welcome me. Maybe she or one of five other coworkers could have guided me while i'd been standing there for several minutes. Anyway, I go to the other register and this man takes my order for the two brigadeiros. He types in the flavors and then I see a ticket print at the register where I went to in the first place. I then walk back to that register and the annoyed employee with orange fingernails has the ticket in hand and says to me "okay which chocolates?" and I pause. In my mind I'm thinking "chocolate? maybe each brigadeiro has a different chocolate flavor?" and also think "what is the point of ordering at the other register and having a ticket printed then to have to ask me my order yet again?" and so I say "umm dark chocolate?" and she just looks at me and reaches for a brigadeiro I did not order originally. And then I say, "Oh, I just want the ones I ordered, the peanut truffle and rainbow." and she rolls her eyes, laughs, and says "well that's definitely not dark chocolate." okay...and??? what are you even asking me for when you have my order ticket in your hand? Why have I now said my order three times? I should have just said nevermind and to forget the whole thing and just have gotten a refund for my two items. Her energy and attitude were so bizarre that even my boyfriend was making eyes at me like we should just leave. I did end up having my brigadeiros with coffee. I enjoyed the peanut truffle one but the rainbow one was mid. The little treats are definitely not worth the tension of engaging with the employees. They could not care less about hospitality and so it's weird someone would take a job in customer service and act this way. From reading other reviews, this is not the first time someone has experienced unfavorable behavior from employees. I would just like to say to the employees to have some more initiative and curiosity to your customer; be kinder and more professional. read more

I'm not sure how forcing people to pay for their order without seeing what's available first, then seeing 2 of the 3 flavors you wanted aren't there is a good business practice. We were forced to get what was available and then told the flavors we did want were "rarely in the case." 1) They used to be and 2) they're on the website so why would you list them if they're not available?? You apparently have to give a week notice. Why? They've been at the ready before. If things change, update your website. I'm so mad we were forced to pay $24 for stuff we didn't want. So any other out of towners, heads up. read more

Great, friendly service and cute Brigadeiro (Brazilian chocolate) shop. Lots of different options, seating, and magazines to read. There's also free WiFi. There's not really any space to do any work, but the seating makes it look warm and cozy. The space is extremely small, which probably helps. Check in on Yelp for 2 free candies! They come in cute boxes. I also got a French Press coffee to-go and it was very good, no added sugar needed but I did ask for creamer. I didn't meet the owner Paula but she had different notes around the cash register that showed her openness to feedback and it seemed just the more homely, warm, and community-like. It's such a nice surprise for a small town like Hanover NH to have such a lovely pastry and coffee shop with such tasty treats. The ambience is that of a pastry/chocolate shop in one's dreams. They decorated the shop for Easter, so it looks like fairytale land. I had the passion fruit mousse which was flavorful and smooth. I can't speak to the baked goods, they looked really good. I found it on Yelp and wanted to order a whole box of treats on my way through town. However, I was taken aback when nothing is marked with prices. Not even the chocolates. I had to ask the cashier for each item's price. I know this is a high end bakery and was happy to pay for quality. But intentionally not marking products is like saying, "We only serve customers for whom price is not a consideration." No costumer wants to stand there and ask for prices item by item. That feels so uncomfortable. So despite driving and parking and walking to the location, I left without buying what I hoped to get. read more

Unfortunately this is one of the worst pastries shops I've ever been to. I ordered myself a pastry and a drink, first of all it was quite expensive. I was just hoping for my food to be good as well as my coffee. I then ran into Paula, the manager. I greeted her and did not get a greeting back, very rude. This was my first trip to My Brigadeiro after hearing good things. It was pretty busy on a late Tuesday afternoon, much more than I expected. This is clearly a popular hangout spot for Dartmouth students. I came specifically for the brigadeiro but they have all kinds of desserts, treats, and drinks. There must be nearly two dozen types of brigadeiro and I went with the noir, coconut, dolce de leche, and milk chocolate flavors. They all tasted spectacular! The young guy working behind the dessert case was very friendly and helpful when I asked what are the most popular brigadeiro flavors. The only downside is that each brigadeiro cost nearly $2. I understand that they are a Brazilian specialty dessert, and that this is Hanover (where all prices are exorbitant), but that's still kind of pricey considering how much the ingredients are to cook them at home. Make sure to check in on the Yelp app - it gives you a coupon for two FREE brigadeiros. Definitely worth it. My Brigadeiro's remind me of home (Brazil)! Never thought I could find brigaderiro's so authentic in the United States let alone in Norwich, New Hampshire!. They are delicious and come in a variety of flavors. The original is my favorite and my husband loves the dark chocolate. Not only do they taste great but they are packaged so nicely that they make great gifts or housewarming presents. I am lucky enough to get them locally but I have shipped them to loved ones in other states and the packaging and presentation is just as impressive when shipped. read more

All the pastries are always fantastic. My favorite place to get tres leches (might even say better than grandma's). Creme brûlée is also fantastic. The almost croissants could use a little more almond marzipan, and could be flakier. I love almond croissants but these were not on par with the rest of the amazing products they have. I would actually agree with the prices. These are artisan quality and worth what you're paying for. I'm hoping for a crisper, flakier, and more almondy almond croissant, which would make this place 6/5 stars! Congrats to the owner for this fantastic gem. read more

My Brigadeiro is pretty much the place to go if you want some gourmet chocolate. It's a cute little shop located where the old wine shop used to be. It sells chocolate, cakes, cookies, hot chocolate, and other random candies. A brigadeiro, in the most simplistic way I can possibly describe it as, is more or less like a chewy ball of chocolate. It's not fudge and it's not exactly a truffle. It's a special Brazilian treat. Paula, the owner, is absolutely wonderful. I love chatting with her, and she's great at helping a first-time customer through the buying process. The first time I went, I really wasn't sure what I was going into, and she walked me right through the best pairings and offerings. Price is about $1.75 or so per brigadeiro, and if you check in on Yelp, you get one for free! Birgadeiros also make for great gifts! She has some beautiful gift boxes and also has catering offerings. The place is quite small and cute. Instead, they were all crammed into their smallest box, which the sales girl told me typically only held 6. Some of the more delicate pieces got smushed by the time I got home. :( I understand small businesses have tight margins, but it's upsetting to pay so much for a luxury treat and have them try and cut costs by not giving me an appropriately sized cardboard box. But 2 stars because the girl who helped me pick the chocolates out was genuinely helpful and very sweet and knowledgeable. I have to preface this review by saying that it has been some time since I have eaten these Brigadeiro. I felt the need to write this review because of the quality of brigadeiro that I received. My wife is a Brazilian woman and to find really good brigadeiro can be hard to come by. We tried some places in New York, and also Newark, which has a large Brazilian community, and were never really pleased with what we purchased. I came across My Brigadeiro and had them shipped to our home. They came a few days later in a really cute box. The presentation was great, but the brigadeiro was amazing. I was shocked with how good they were. Since condensed milk is typically the main ingredient, brigadeiro tend to be really sweet, but these were not overpowering. My wife and I truly enjoyed these and would return. read more
