I came in this morning, signed in properly, and placed my paddle on game 11. They were on game 8. I waited 45 minutes like everyone else is supposed to, following the system that THEY set up. When game 11 was finally called, I walked up to find that one of the front desk attendants had physically removed my paddle from the rotation and set it off to the side -- completely away from all the other games, no explanation, no heads up, nothing. When I asked him what happened, he looked me dead in the face and lied. Told me he had "stood up and waved my paddle around" to call for me earlier and that I must have been playing in game 8 or 9. I was not. I had been sitting and waiting the entire time. Not only did he move my paddle without telling a single person, he then fabricated a story on the spot to cover it up rather than just owning a simple mistake. When I told him it was completely unacceptable to remove someone's paddle from the pool without notifying them, let alone lie about it, he talked to me disrespectfully and shrugged his shoulders like my 45 minutes of wasted time meant absolutely nothing to him. Zero accountability. Zero professionalism. Zero apology. I picked up my paddle and left, and I won't be back. If this is how staff treat paying members who follow the rules, this place has a serious problem. Train your staff better; or at the very minimum, hire people who won't lie to your customers' faces when they make a mistake.

The size of the park was surprising, in that it did stretch on and on, so you'll get your steps in! Fields are the name of the game here. All sorts of multi-purpose fields for football, soccer, etc are all over the park. Sadly when I went, they were all closed for repair so I was unable to explore them. This is a dog friendly park, however like another reviewer mentioned, there was dog poop littering many of the side walks. It's not the dog's fault so please clean up after your pup! There is a little trail called the heart healthy path where you can walk on and walk through wooded areas. It's really serene and pretty, AND each completion of the trail nets you 0.25 mi, so going 8 times around coul work. Parking here is absolutely no problem as there are lots for days. There's also a nice children's play area for the kids and I saw a few bicycle riders on my visit. Basically there's a lot you can get done here. Best park i've Ever visited? Nah, but if you live close and like getting some fresh air, I bet you'll find yourself here from time to time!

This is an expansive and beautiful state park. I've only experienced the shooting ranges and the…read morevisitor center, so that's what I'll be reviewing today - but this park amazing. Value for money: This place is inexpensive (even free in some circumstances) gun / rifle / shotgun ranges. Be aware: you'll need your GA hunting license to shoot here -- you present it to the range officer on duty at either the rifle/pistol lanes or the shotgun/skeet house. Location: This place is a bit out of the way for most folks coming from Atlanta -- it's a good 1 to 2 hour drive, depending on what part of the city you're coming from. If you were planning on getting just a quick 30 minutes of range time in, I'm not sure this place is cost effective. On the plus side, it's also not close to any neighborhoods, etc. -- so you can feel pretty safe discharging a firearm at the ranges here. Customer service: This place has friendly range officers (just let them know it's your first time there) - they're very willing to show you different parts of the facilities. Protips: Bring your own weapons, ammo, cases, and hearing protection. They have a limited supply of targets at the welcome area, but it's best if you bring your own targets (and tape) too. In summer, there is no shade connecting the ranges - the sun will beat down on you. They have restrooms on site, but no vending machines or nearby restaurants - be sure to pack in necessities like food and water. Summary: Even though it's out of the way, and you'll need to bring (and possibly first GET) your GA hunting license, I highly recommend this park. It's worth the drive -- especially in the fall or spring.

A young lady named Aniston was so helpful to me planning my surprise to my husband from the beginning all the way through being his awesome instructor during our visit. Her kind helpful professional patient manor is why we went there for leading up to this surprise I contacted Aniston several times with my weird questions, each and every time she was quick to respond and never gave me a general answer, she gave me help to my questions, my concerns. The other staff we encountered on the day of our visit were so friendly. The grounds are beautiful. Really beautiful. It was a lot of fun. From beginning to end we were treated like friends; we will absolutely return. Cherokee Rose is worth your time and time well spent.

You do the math, but I promise you won't get bored! Pricing was fair, the place was beautiful and I can't wait to be back. They are very thoughtful and had water in coolers scattered around at different stations. Golf cart rentals are $30 and no time limit, you complete them at your own pace. We made it through 8 stations on the Creek Course in about two hours so you can spend as much or little time there as you want. We were moving through the course leisurely with three people. They also cater to large groups, corporate events and fundraisers!

Some of the logs along the drive were even still smoking. The wildlife drive itself was another of the many 1 car wide, 2 way, no directional or one way sign having, perilous roads we endured on our trip. Within the refuge boundaries, you would occasionally see signs stating "foot traffic only" with no parking nearby and no indication of which trail it was. While they claimed to have 50 miles of gravel roads to explore, there were no directionals to let you know what was part of the refuge and what wasn't. There were lots of houses and private property within the refuge area so we ended up giving up and leaving rather than end up shot for trespassing.

Piedmont NWR is a huge wooded area east of Forsyth, Georgia dedicated to restoring 35,000 acres of…read moreland to what it was before early European settlers cleared it for cotton farming. Now restored, the refuge is available for wildlife observation & photography, fishing and some hunting. There are also a few hiking trails and this review is for the trails near the visitor center and Allison Lake. To get to the refuge, take Juliette Road east from State Highway 87, or east from I-75 exit 187 in Forsyth. The visitor center entrance is about five miles from Hwy 87 and you'll travel through the small town of Juliette and cross the Ocmulgee River. Very pretty out here. At the visitor center, you can get information about the refuge as well as maps and brochures. The brochures are located inside the first set of two double doors suggesting that they may be available when the center itself is closed. There are restrooms there, too. There aren't a whole lot of maintained trails in the refuge. In fact, only four and they total about five miles. All are near the visitor center. I believe if you hike off-trail in other parts of the refuge, you may find yourself in hunting areas. The Creek, Pine and Allison Lake trails are about 2.3 miles long total and intersect/join with each other at various points. The trailhead is at the visitor center. You can either start out by going out the back of the building or by using a wheelchair accessible path off to the right (south) of the center from the parking lot. Trails are decently maintained and marked and mostly follow as the trail map shows. But not always. In particular, the intersection of the Allison Lake trail with the Creek/Pine trails is not shown correctly, but I suppose it's close enough. Also, while there are numerous trail signs, in a few spots I found myself having to look around to see which way the trail went. So, expect a few WTF moments. It's very pleasant hiking (mostly walking, really) along pine straw strewn paths. A few muddy spots. The highlight is a wooden observation structure built out a short ways into Allison Lake where you can sit and look through three windows for birds and such. I didn't see any but I understand the lake is a winter refuge for some migratory birds. There's also a small old cemetery near the visitor center on the Pine trail. Most of the dozen of so small headstones are difficult to read now. Dates from the early 1800's. As with a lot of Georgia hikes, three uninvited guests may tag along: ticks, chiggers and mosquitoes. The mosquitoes and chiggers (I hope) weren't out yet on my early May visit, but I did pick up three small ticks. Next time, I'll remember my DEET. There are also a lot of fire ant mounds. The other trail is a 2.3 mile walk past a red-cockaded woodpecker colony. Trailhead is at the Allison Lake dam not far from the visitor center. I didn't walk that one. There are a ton of dirt roads in the refuge, so you can drive around the place for hours, including along a six-mile 'wildlife drive'. No camping except during 'big game hunts', with permit.

I have not toured the entire range so I can only speak for the area I have visited. I used Bay #1 both times I went. The range is setback off of the road. It is however, easy to find. I've shot in various bays on the backside of the property. I've always felt as safe as a person can feel at a gun range, and I appreciate how well kept the grounds are. I think an outside range feels safer than an indoor range in general. Also, having a variety of set ups available for shooting is fantastic. As long as you adhere to the rules, you can set up almost any course of fire you want. I've always had a positive shooting experience at South River but I wouldn't become a member for many reasons. It's really far from my house. Also, I'm not sure how comfortable they are with Black people. I've visited many times since that first time and sometimes it's uncomfortable the way they watch us. And it's an expensive membership for my level of usage. But if all of the above weren't present, I'd be a regular at South River. Yelp #24 2022
