DO NOT BRING YOU VEHICLE HERE. (Even if you're desperate.)…read more Brought my vehicle in for a coolant leak, the diagnosis alone was $255, for a new radiator and hoses the estimated me $1600. $700 of that was just for a radiator which is just ridiculous. When I called and questioned the price Bob reassured me that they would be the best quality parts etc. etc. I agreed for the work to be done because I was desperate to get back on the road asap, I know now that was a bad decision. When I picked up the vehicle I looked under the hood and it looked almost like they didn't replace anything at all. I'm not a mechanic of course so I moved on and drove to work. Less then a 20 min drive there immediately as I parked the vehicle starts smoking and I step out to see the coolant has leaked again. I call the shop and Bob gives me an indifferent apology and had the vehicle picked towed back to the shop. The owner Joe was also not reasonable and said "well you agreed to the price" no where does it even say there labor rate. When everything was said and done my experience was horrible only the tow guy knows what they're doing. (Mercedes w204)

I'm thrilled to write a 5-star review. Why? First of all, the tire store in Saratoga that has…read moreserviced 2 cars for many years complains regularly that they're too busy and can't fit me in. So I called Rowland St. and they said if I want to wait during the service, I could have an appointment in about 2 days. A few more minutes on the phone and it was set up. Also, their new building has a pleasant waiting area and pleasant, low-key staff. Have you had a jiffy oil change where they try to add on unnecessary services that you don't need? That didn't happen here. I explained what I was after, I pointed out something else I found, and I got good advice on how to resolve it. There was no upselling. Finally, I figured the service I needed would be outrageously expensive, so I researched to get a feel for what I was in for. IMHO, the final bill reflected a reasonable price for parts which I expected to be marked up obscenely. The labor, too, seemed fair for the task. In all it was a lot of money but it seemed appropriate after my worrying beforehand. I didn't expect to be saying this, but I'll probably be back for my next auto service.

But there's nothing negative to report! This place has helped me out with everything from minor (and cheap) concerns to body damage and engine issues. They always give me a fair estimate (I've shopped around) and the work is always done surprisingly quickly. The past two times they even threw in some work without charging me (like a tire rotation or free diagnostic for a check engine light). And they were great at dealing with my insurance company and helping things to move smoothly and quickly after an accident. It's got that family business atmosphere, and you always interact with the same people, which helps with the trust-building. Even my uhaul rental experience was overly positive! There's the cutest little chihuaha hanging around, too. I highly recommend Rich's for any mechanic work or uhaul rental. I'm moving out of state and leaving this mechanic I trust truly disappoints me.

No one called ahead to give me a heads-up or reschedule -- I just arrived to locked doors. I called from the parking lot and left a message letting them know I was there for my appointment. That was over three weeks ago now, and I still haven't gotten a callback -- no apology, no explanation, nothing. I get that shops sometimes have to close unexpectedly, but a simple phone call would have saved me a wasted trip, and a follow-up afterward would have gone a long way. Instead, total silence. Can't recommend based on this experience -- communication was nonexistent.
