We wanted a quick but but stayed for a meal! Everything on the menu is so interesting and authentic. It's a small but mighty place that's for sure. Everything was super flavorful and flavors that were a bit new and exciting to us. Will be back again!!! Added bonus, the mochi donut place next door was getting ready to close for the night and brought over TRAYS of free donuts and boxes for us to take home. Delicious as well and a must try!

Haven't wrote reviews so I apologize Lai Rai Till I die What a great addition to the city of Davie Came during soft opening the first time and it was like maybe It was until the second shot that it hit the spot Ask for everything spicy and it's hot hot hot It tastes so much better and my spice tolerance is low But if you go here it's the way to go So without further to do 1 2 3 dzo I have came back here time and time again with respects to the pho bar owner He knows what he's doing as he got my taste buds on a controller I

I have never been to Vietnam, so I will let others talk about authenticity. What I can say is that the food is delicious. You order small plates to share. Think Vietnam Tapas. We had a delicious mango conch salad, some of the most flavorful shrimp I have ever eaten, an incredible escargot, and more. My wife described it as a flavor explosion in her mouth. Not spicy. Just bursting with flavor. The service was helpful and top notch. They were always cleaning, serving, filling our drinks. We loved it. The setting is supposed to remind you of Vietnamese street food. The walls are decorated like shop windows and doors. Small tables and chairs are designed to feel like the street. We loved it. An interesting side note. There are a bunch of Vietnamese food stores adjacent to each other -- pho, ban Minh, a bakery and this spot. All founded by the same woman who came up with the recipes and taught her kids to cook. Love it.

1..2..3.. Dzo!!! It means cheers! That's how they do it Vietnamese style! lai rai, is a street food concept where you hangout & make memories with your buddies to enjoy mini tapas, snack, and drinks! Service was great! Very fast , and food came out fast. we came a the day after grand opening and we were able to get seats right away. top street food items were the steamed clams, tamarind snails, grilled skewers, mango salad, and the balut. Great for sharing and affordable pricing. Flavor was great for each item. can't go wrong with lychee soju and a beer tower!! What a nice way to enjoy your weekend!

This is a new place. Opened just 3 months ago and it seemed like a very fun and hip place. With little plastic stools to mimic the street food eateries in Vietnam and the paintings on the wall to create fake door and windows and the baskets used as lamp shades for the over head light bulbs, it created a very nostalgic atmosphere in spite of tiny real estate. Yes, the place is really small but they made great use of indoor and outdoor space. The place already got good traction and for an early Saturday dinner, the place was almost full. Despite being busy, the staff is making sure they are paying attention to detail and ensuring regular check ins with the customers. I was attended to by Sophia and she was the sweetest girl. She was so patient with my order and repeatedly checked with the kitchen staff to ensure my customizations were done to the order. I was surprised to know that it was only her 4th door and she had no prior experience in restaurant service but she delivered well. Even the other staff members came over to the table periodically and ensured I was doing well and that food met my expectation. I had Fried oysters for app and chicken noodles for entree. Both were amazing. They added a herb called Rau Ram as a garnish and I really loved the aroma it added. It was similar to basil but looked different and was slightly stronger.

Being Vietnamese myself, I just had to try this place out. And also with being Vietnamese, I'm a bit picky when it comes to Vietnamese food. Even pickier is my mother! However we both enjoyed our foods and experience here! Lai Rai is a fun spot and really captures the nhậu and tapas style of eating. The food is meant to be shared, and everything we tried was solid. We ordered the grilled oysters (one with scallion fish sauce and one with cream cheese sauce), lemongrass tofu, the chicken hearts and chicken gizzards skewers, the spotted escargot with tamarind sauce, the salted Hong Kong style lobster, balut, nui xào bò (stir-fried macaroni with beef), and bò né (sizzling steak). I didn't take many pictures as I got too excited with eating! Sitting on the plastic stools and sharing small plates honestly reminded me of Vietnam. It felt casual, familiar, and comfortable. My mom felt the same and couldn't stop raving about the nostalgia. The staff was super sweet and attentive. It's in a great location too. We frequent this plaza often to do our grocery shopping and to get bánh mì next door so it's convenient when we wanna just relax a bit and enjoy a beer. I love seeing more Vietnamese spots open up and definitely plan on returning!!! I would recommend this to anyone wanting to explore the Vietnamese culture beyond phở.

I ordered takeout because of the great reviews this restaurant had had. Absolutely everything I ate was amazing. I ordered grilled oysters, crab rice, and pork belly appetizer. I definitely will patronize this establishment again and again.

Best unique grilled seafood that me and my wife had ate in a long time! I am a seafood person, when it's come to seafood it has to be the freshest, second is flavors! In this case they got them both, and it cost literally less than half of what I had to pay for same seafoods at other normal seafood restaurants. Quality and budget friendly is this place! Hand down for best seafood in Davie! Inside seating is small but cozy, they also have outside seating like street market in Vietnam. I'm glad they brought this concept to south florida, much needed

Next to 545 Bánh Mì Café and Pho 79, Lai Rai is doing something very different from the usual Broward Vietnamese lineup. This is not a pho shop. It's Vietnamese tapas and seafood culture -- skewers, shellfish, beer food, and a full escargot section on the menu. What we actually ordered: * Lemongrass clams -- Easily the standout. Bright, aromatic broth with citrus and chili heat, clean shells, great balance. I could have eaten an entire bowl myself. This is the dish to order. * Canadian whelk in butter garlic -- The only snail we tried. Properly cooked, good garlic butter sauce, but whelk is inherently firm and dense. Glad I tried it, but the texture isn't my favorite. That's an ingredient preference more than execution. * Giant grilled prawn skewers -- Excellent caramelization, juicy, nicely seasoned. Probably the most visually impressive dish on the table. * Pork belly skewers -- Blistered, fatty, rendered correctly. Classic street-style energy. * Macaroni pasta with filet mignon -- Good quality beef, cooked properly, but overall a fairly plain tasting dish compared to everything else. It feels like a comfort option for less adventurous diners. We observed a lot of other snail preparations on the menu -- tamarind versions, coconut, grilled garlic, Hong Kong salt-and-pepper styles -- but didn't try them this time. Atmosphere-wise, it's colorful and casual. Low plastic stools (not built for lingering), patterned plates, open kitchen, red and blue hanging lamps. It feels like Saigon seafood beer culture dropped into a Davie strip plaza. The Chin-Su hot sauce on the table is legit Vietnamese heat -- sweeter and more layered than standard sriracha -- and you can grab a bottle at Mango Tree. This is a fun, slightly adventurous spot. Not the safe play. And that's a good thing.

I tried Lao Rai Thai Tapas today and wow... this place came out fantastic. It's brand new, and honestly? They will get popular very quick. The food was exquisite. Not just "good Thai," but creative, adventurous, and clearly made by people who love food. The menu is stacked with unique options--escargot prepared multiple ways, oysters done right, a whole fried lobster, and plenty of dishes you don't see everywhere else. Every bite felt exciting and delicious. The staff absolutely elevated the experience. The owner, Mindy, was warm, welcoming, and clearly passionate about what she's building. My server Rav was incredibly kind and attentive, and we ended up having a whole conversation about different Asian cuisines--which made the meal even more fun and memorable. This place isn't just a restaurant, it's an experience. I highly recommend it, and I'll definitely be back many, many times. Lai rai Thai Tapas just earned itself a loyal customer.

Excellent and attentive service but the food just didn't hit the spot for me. I spent about a month traveling up and down Vietnam and totally understand the concept but I just don't think the food hit the mark. I was really excited to try this place given all the great reviews and wonder if I just had a bad day. Everything was fine, it just wasn't screaming delicious like Vietnamese food usually is. We had the grilled oysters, grilled scallops with quail eggs, chicken gizzard skewers, lemongrass tofu, welk in tamarind sauce, and the bone marrow. Of the things we ate, we enjoyed the bone marrow most, but it was a very shallow bone with hardly any marrow. The lemongrass tofu is deep fried with a ginger sauce I could've used more of. Gizzards had nice flavor. Everything else was pretty meh. I'd be willing to go back and try other things, but I'm definitely not pressed to go back anytime soon.

The oysters LIT MY EYES UP!!!! I live to eat. Drove 2 hours and made it just in time to try it and it DID NOT DISAPPOINT. It reflects the culture of Vietnamese where you sit to enjoy good bites and have a good time. All of it was flavor in your mouth!!! I got the cheese oyster, fried shallot fish sauce oyster and balut. I rarely ever eat balut but this was SOOOO GOOD. And perfectly cooked. The wait staff were so nice and helpful. Can't wait to come back!

There were mosquitoes it was dusk. I wasn't too happy plus it was windy, but anyhow, I ordered a Scooby and I asked her was it the Scooby like the ones that they serve in coconuts in Fort Lauderdale it is like oh yeah it's the same chef that worked there but they serve it a little different well when her Scooby's came they were the size of my pinky and it was seven of them and it was $27 very overpriced. I also ordered fish and chips which she said was extremely popular, it was so greasy that I asked for some paper napkins and she brought me two paper napkins, and I put one of the pieces on top of the paper napkin and it was soaked, so I asked her for more paper napkins and she brought me some more paper napkins and then I just got grossed out. It was too much grease. I ordered a glass of wine their house wine. And my total bill for one person was $67. They never asked me if everything was OK so I just paid the bill paid the tip and left. I wouldn't recommend that place to anybody.

They have dishes here you really don't find often in this area, and everything tasted like it was made with so much care and flavor. Fair warning: the food came out looking so good that we definitely started eating before remembering to take pictures So if some of these plates look "already loved" or not pictured, just know that's because they were that good. Everything was spicy, flavorful, comforting, and super satisfying. The interior is adorable, very cute and cozy without feeling overdone, and the staff was incredibly kind and welcoming the whole time. We ordered: * Pla Dook Foo * Khao Cook Kapi * Boat Noodles * Pink Noodles (Yen Ta Fo) * Dry Tom Yum Noodles * Moo Ping * Kanom Jeep * Khao Moo Krop Dang * Moo Krop Desserts: * Mango Sticky Rice * Pumpkin Custard * Coconut Ice Cream The standouts for me were the dishes that felt the most hard-to-find and unapologetically authentic. You can tell this isn't a place watering things down for the area -- it tastes like the real deal. Come hungry, bring people to share with, and fully expect to order too much on purpose. As the place was empty and two women working were talking at the bar I walked in and went to sit. One of the women asked if I was with the group and then told me I needed to wait to be seated. It was awkward. It was a bit rude. Most times it's not what you say, but how you say it. Maybe it's just me, but the waitress immediately informed me that three items weren't available, including biscuits and cornbread of some sort. As a first-timer, it was weird. Fortunately, everything got better from there. My first meal, regardless of time, needs to be breakfast-y. As I perused the weekday brunch menu via QR code (what if you don't have a phone?) I ordered a coffee and water. The water came quickly, but the coffee took its time. I ordered the Wafflette (don't you want to try things you can't get other places?) It came as pictured and was good. The syrup was quite watery and left a lot to be desired, but I really didn't need it. The star of this dish is the bacon. I could have bathed in this bacon. It was thick and chewy, such a nice compliment. I don't know if there are bar stools available and whether they set up center aisle seating when it's more crowded, but the restaurant appeared clean and well-kept. There were no rounds available when I went, so I don't know how they accommodate groups of 10+, I sat along the banquette that could accommodate two. I am very interested in returning to try the ox tails, which are available in two (or was it three) dishes on the menu. I look forward to revising my review then.

The yams were perfectly seasoned not too sweet not too tart. The macaroni and cheese was also very delicious. It had the right amount of cheese and the right amount of crisps on top. I wish there was a little bit more to taste, and the wings were perfectly fried and seasoned well. I will say the chicken tenders for the kids meal were very tiny. They were more like strips instead of actual full-size tenders and they were packaged with the fries which made them extremely sweaty and wet, and the fries were also very soggy. I would recommend packaging the items separately and not stuffed in a box to sweat together. The drink for the kids meal was very tasty a little on the sweet side. It was their mystery tropical drink. Customer service was extremely friendly. I had to ask for condiments and napkins but overall they seem like young kids that did their best.
