Another solid Hawaiian food joint in the South Bay. Used to be the old Bob's Hawaiian location. Friendly staff. Large portions. And large area with lots of seating.

Ladybug Cafe is a solid choice for dinner in Gardena, it sits in the old Sizzlers location. Great parking - loads and load you'll never have a problem however getting out onto Western Ave may be a tricky but doable. Last night we decided to have a nice enjoyable dinner with the family (mom, brother and sister accompanied by their significant other of course) and talk chotto (talk short time). Entire staff at Ladybug are very good at what they do and friendly. Food is always spot on delicious.

Early evening dinner on a Sunday, with friends, at the Ladybug Cafe. I'll start with friendly staff members and easily a place for comfort food. The dining area is comfortable and was perfect for our group. The Ladybug fried chicken was juicy and flavorful. The Ahi Poke was a nice traditional flavor, and not all jazzed up with things you don't need. Now don't judge me for the double Mac salad, but someone said they are known to have a good Mac. It was pretty good, but I think I shouldn't have substituted my salad for it. In fact I shouldn't have done the up graded Chinese Chicken Salad. Maybe next time. I would definitely recommend this place and would like to go back again to try their other dishes. Enjoy!

My last review for 2025. If you're looking for some delicious comfort Hawaiian food, Ladybug Cafe is the place. We made reservations for 10 peeps and was seated right away when we arrived. Service was fantastic and so friendly. As for the food it was delicious. We ordered the following: Spam Musubi- Simple and delicious. Loco Moco Bowl- For being a bowl, the portions were huge. Chicken Teriyaki and Salmon Plate- Salmon was perfectly cook and moist the chicken was little on the dry side but good. Hugh portions as well. Ahi Poke Bowl- The Ahi Poke was fresh and delicious. Overall, Ladybug Cafe does take you home to the islands. Definitely a place I would return to if I'm in the area and craving Hawaiian food.

I enjoy this place every time I am in town. Big portions of food! Servers are friendly and the food is good... just like you're in Hawaii! I had my usual Ladybug Fried Chicken for lunch. Next time I am ordering the Island burger. Someone next to us ordered it and it looked so good! lol!

If you want some original style Hawaiian local food, here's a place you need to visit. They have been around a long time and have a lot of longtime loyal customers. They have a mixture of local favorites such as laulau, kalua pig, sweet sour spare ribs and saimin. They also have local style Japanese food and a full breakfast menu such as Portuguese sausage and eggs served all day.

Great spot for a huge, hearty meal! We came here with a large party and got seated without issue. Service was super kind, patient, and attentive - we had a great time! Menu had a good mix of meal types which was great for variety. Food came out quickly and tasted amazing - truly a great experience. The portions were huge and felt super authentic; prices were reasonable as well! We left feeling full and super happy about the meal. Great experience, I would definitely come back if in the area again. Thanks, Ladybug Café!

10/27/2025 Came during my lunch. The waiter was polite and friendly. We were able to order quickly. I ordered the short rib bowl. It was really good and the meat was tender. There is plenty of seating for 2 or a group.

Can you say old school? This place is the definition of old school in the best way. Ample parking in the back. Entrance in the back. Lots of tables. Super nice and attentive staff. Huge portions. You will not leave hungry and probably with a takeaway container. There was a police and sheriff officer being seated as we left. You know they know the best places

As a local born and raised in Hawai'i, I feel like I have scoured all of LA County for some decent lau lau. I cannot tell you how many times I've left restaurants only to be disappointed, on the verge of giving up my quest. I have officially stopped looking and will likely not attempt to order lau lau elsewhere. If you have also had the unfortunate experience of biting into a piece of lau lau that was dry-as-the-Sahara-desert...no worry, beef curry. Sample Ladybug, you won't regret it. Must try the braised short rib as well. The meat is tender and full of flavor. Love the ambiance as it has a very local mom and pop feel to it.

A cozy Hawaiian diner with solid comfort food! Came here on a Friday night with a friend and we were seated immediately. There's street parking in front and a parking lot in the back. Service was friendly and helpful since it was our first time We got: Strawberry sake (5/5) haven't had this brand before and it's sweet/easy to drink Chicken katsu condo with butterfish (4/5) only 4 was the katsu. The butterfish was delightful and tasty! Next time I'd get just the butterfish Breakfast burrito (5/5) good ratios of egg and meat with yummy salsa (asked for extra) I'll be back to try the rest of the menu especially the beef stew! Looks like there's also live music or performances on certain days?

The chicken combo plate. Nothing on this plate is filler, the mac salad and green salad compliment the meal nicely.

When a restaurant is full of Niseis and Sanseis (second and third generation Japanese Americans), I knew I'd enjoy this place. This is another old school JA / Hawaiian restaurant offering great food at reasonable prices. So far our family has enjoyed a number of dishes, including the Ladybug fried chicken, chicken katsu, beef teriyaki, and (especially noteworthy) the butterfish misoyaki. This time I tried the ahi tuna poke. I forced myself to finish my meal because it was so good (and poke doesn't do well as leftovers) but I admittedly overate. I don't regret it! Just about any fish dish we've had here has been wonderful. One bargain is the chicken combo plate. It's a LOT of food for a reasonable price. Like the fish dish selections all of the chicken items are really good. Also worth noting is we've done takeout for family gatherings. Let's just say we made family happy.

Behind the waitress stand is more seating overlooking the open kitchen where you can take in the sights and smells of the employees working on their craft. The interior is decorated simply and cleanly with wall decorations but most of the focus drawn to the kitchen. I ordered the avocado cream cheese (with onion and bacon) spaghetti. The avocado and cream cheese tag teamed into a creamy coating on the noodles with a tang from the cheese and a richness from the avocado. The onion and bacon added some necessary contrast, crunch, and meatiness to the meal. The noodle texture is excellent with a nice snap. Unfortunately, it does reach a point where the cheese becomes too rich to consume and I found myself requiring breaks before resuming. All in all, a very good meal and a definite recommend in the area for the experience.

This is in a little food court, but a high quality food court. There are so many great options here! Theres a parking lot, and plenty of seating inside and outside. It's a causal spot, nice and clean with plenty of options. You place your order at the counter (you can use the ipad to order, except if you want the Fak'ed up fries, those you need to order with an employee). The shrimp - I could eat these forever. Holy toledos these are so good. I got the karaage chicken with the cheehoo teri sauce. The sauce is soooooo bomb. The chicken is perfectly cooked. And the red noon is the perfect addition of acidity. The Mac salad was great, stick to your ribs kinda good Now I ordered several other plates for my friend, including the teriyaki chicken, and the fak'ed up fries with shrimp and karaage chicken. He said the fak'ed up fries were fire, so good, he didn't even know that's exactly what he wanted. I have to come back to try them - I didn't know they were a thing bc they're not on the menu. But after I placed my original order I saw a video of the fak'ed up fries on their board and they looked so good, I had to buy them for him. There are a lot of new options and unfortunately no more chicken katsu. After my previous review, the owner actually reached out and offered to have me come back and try the food again, which I genuinely appreciated. I never took them up on the free food offer because I prefer to keep reviews honest, but the gesture still stood out to me. This time I ordered the 2-item combo with the honey sesame chicken karaage and kalua pork. The karaage was easily my favorite part of the meal. It was crispy, flavorful, and cooked perfectly. I asked for all the sauces on the side and the green sauce paired really well with it. The kalua pork was tender, but a little sweeter than I personally prefer for traditional kalua pork, so I'd probably try a different protein next time instead. I also grabbed a spam musubi, but the portions were so generous that I didn't even get around to eating it until I got home later. While I still miss the old chicken katsu, I get that menus evolve, and overall this visit was a much better experience than my previous one.

Our usual not-so-usual go-to for Chinese in the South Bay had been Seashore at Calle Mayor and PCH but I remembered the food being somewhat bland on the last visit several months back. We have also enjoyed Lunasia (for Dim Sum) and Ruiji farther east on PCH but it has been a long time (at least for Ruiji) and the reviews and pictures for Lotus looked really good. I also liked the All-Day Happy Hour! $3 house wines, beer and hot sake as well as the complimentary (and delicious) garlic noodles with $50 purchase ($11.95 value). We ordered the Crispy Crabmeat Cream Cheese Wontons ($10), Spicy Orange Crispy Chicken ($21.95), Kung Pao Chicken ($21.95), Sweet and Sour Pork ($20.95), Beef with Broccoli ($20.95), Mongolian Beef ($21.95) and Crispy Honey Shrimp ($25.95). Yeah, the prices, I know, but again the All-Day Happy Hour and the free noods! The food was a hit...everything was great, fresh ingredients, packed with flavor. The Crispy Chicken wasn't spicy so don't worry if that's not your jam...the Mongolian Beef was probably my favorite and the crispy honey shrimp was lightly fried "to perfection". I hate that phrase but it is appropriate here, truly. Service was excellent. The food came out very quickly and our server was fantastic. It was my 87 year old Mom's birthday and they brought out a cheesecake and candle for her too. We did have tons of left-overs so it will go a longer way which helps with the cost. To our surprise, we found this "new" place, The Second Wind. The menu looked enticing and the lunch specials really looked like a great deal. So we decided we needed to come back for lunch and soon. A week later, we returned. Parking is very easy in the free lot for the complex. The interior design is energenic, vivrant with amazing looking Asian inspired pop art. Very cool interior. You can be seated and served or order to go. They have a combination lunch special, two items for $15.99. But, many of those items have an up charge if you add a protien. Either way, in these times, $16 for two items is reasonable. Our server greeted us quickly and let us choose the table of our liking. There are a handful of booths and open tables. My wife ordered the Beef Bulgogi and the Eggplant. I ordered the Chicken Dumplings and the Garlic Noodle (adding chicken for $2 more). The portions are generous. Light eaters might be able to just order one two dish combo and share. The Beef Bulgogi was good but the veggies looked a bit dehydrated. The Eggplant was just okay. The Chicken Dumplings were very tasty but served cool. I ordered them steamed and expected them to be warm at least. The Garlic Noodles with chicken was the biggest disappointment. To me, and my wife, over cooked with crunchy pieces. The chicken was also over cooked, dry and tough. When our server asked how things were, I mentioned it. He didn't seem surprised. I asked if the noodles were always dry and he said yes. He offered to bring more sauce, which he did. I added it but it didn't make the chicken any better. In the end, I left 90% of it. They only have cans of sodas so no refills but they are attached to a tea house that serves a great selection of teas, bobo, etc. There was some good things but more not, overall, we were disappointed. Honestly, I was a bit surprised they didn't offer to replace my dish or offer a small discount. They could see the pile of food I left. Anyway... Hopefully your experience and food preparation will be better than ours and...enjoy!!!
