For those who only read the first few lines the food is fantastic and the decor is minimal and very French. I normally don't go to restaurants in the first 6 months because it takes that long to really get a flow going in a good restaurant. But things come and go in Saugatuck so I wanted to try it. I am so glad we did. The brussel sprout appetizer is savory, charred, and a bit spicy which I love. These aren't your tired old sprouts. My husband had the pork chop and it was cooked perfectly! Nice and moist in the center, with charred carrots, and bacon chunks, and served on not too not-too-rich cheesy grits. This is the kind of comfort food one craves. I had the steelhead on the advice of the very charming bartender. Wow! What a delight. You don't see Steelhead on the menu often, which is lean protein with omega-3 fatty acids. It is served with a stone-mustard beurre blanc sauce which is not too mustardy but instead adds some depth. The wine list was okay, a bit limited but to be expected from a new restaurant. We went on a Sunday night and it wasn't busy - we had great service and suggestions. Addressing some of the other negative reviews - the decor is minimal and dare I say, French. But this restaurant knows exactly who it is - it's about the food. We thought the service was very friendly and accommodating. As we all know Saugatuck is a "summer place" and finding good help is difficult. All service industries are struggling with this, so if it is busy be patient and know they are probably doing their best. You are most likely on vacation so have a drink and focus on who you are with. Regarding prices, I don't mind paying for good fresh food, and probably an owner who pays their staff a living wage. In my opinion, this is some of the best food in the area - one that I will actually drive into town to eat at. read more

Stopped in here for lunch recently on a visit to Lake Michigan. The winter beet bowl is spectacular. The beets are pureed and the rest of the vegetables are grilled perfectly. The pistachio pesto is a nice complement to the grilled veggies. Highly recommend. Service is top notch as well. read more

We have been to another restaurant of theirs and loved it- this was also perfect. Went at a very off time and enjoyed the quiet. The decor a major improvement over previous restaurant there and the food was delicious and presented beautifully. One cocktail- spicy margarita and it was- my partner loved it. We ordered a Chinois salad and a Winter bowl - both outstanding along with a side of brocolini- just a wonderful late lunch early dinner. read more

Food was great, service could use some help. Lady Bird is a beautiful new restaurant in Saugatuck that I believe just opened in 2024. I dined here in late June on a Tuesday evening around 7:30-8 PM. Upon entering, I was greeted by a lovely restaurant but no host or hostess. The bartender, who was tirelessly working the service bar to make numerous drinks, greeted me instead. With a number of open seats (albeit a few with place settings and glasses from previous diners), I sat at the bar and began my meal by ordering an Old Fashioned while I browsed the menu. The drink took a bit of time to make between all the other drink orders, but it was well-crafted. For dinner, I ordered the Filet Mignon, which the menu described as served with a porcini rub, oyster mushrooms, risotto, and veal demi-glace. The food was exceptional. The steak was cooked perfectly to temp and accompanied by sides that complemented it perfectly: crispy mushrooms, creamy risotto, and a delicious demi-glace. So good! As I mentioned, my only issue with Lady Bird is the service. The restaurant itself didn't look super busy inside, but after chatting with the bartender throughout my meal, I found out that they have a large, expansive patio out back, and that's where all the demand for the drinks was coming from. Overall, the restaurant seemed short-staffed and could have used more help. While the bartender did a great job, he was clearly stretched too thin. For the prices they are charging, the service needs to be better. Overall, Lady Bird offers exceptional food in a beautiful setting, but the service needs improvement. I can't recommend the food enough, but be aware that the service might not meet expectations. read more

We went here for a friends birthday and were not disappointed at all. This is the third location I believe and we really liked the one in Mattawan. Everyone loved their food, scallops were seared perfectly and my tomahawk pork was large and delicious. There was only one person who needed to take food home and she did only to have room for dessert. It wasn't very busy as they only had 2 servers, both were excellent. I would highly recommend this place and even with a hour drive we will be going back. read more

Great staff. We arrived around 5:30 and enjoyed a lovely meal outside. I had the Gigli Pasta and my husband had the blackened snapped. Both were very good, but mine was a bit too heavy on the bacon for my taste. We had dessert - chocolate lava cake (fabulous!) and raspberry sorbet. My husband had a peartini to start and I had a glass of sauv blanc. It is a lovely restaurant on a quiet street. Definitely recommend. read more

I had high hopes for this restaurant but it was disappointing. My husband and I had dinner at Lady Bird today. I ordered the Chinois Chicken Salad. The only thing good about it was the dressing. The chicken was dark meat which I wouldn't have minded except that it was very fatty. It had about 3 cashews and the greens were not chewable. The Napa cabbage was sparse and the discolored like it was old. All in all it was not a good meal. There was no one in the restaurant because it was a bit early for dinner. Perhaps they had not prepared fresh food for dinner? I do not recommend this restaurant and definitely not this salad. I'm hoping I don't get sick! read more

Visited Saugatuck for the 4th of July weekend with my partner, excited to try Lady Bird based on rave reviews. What a letdown. Despite their inviting patio, they don't allow dogs. The cherry on top? The staff snatched the menu right out of my hand while seating us. Saugatuck prides itself on being dog-friendly. A restaurant with a patio that bans dogs completely misses the mark on inclusivity in this town. The owner responded. And thank you for informing of said rule (already knew this) Your employee did not ask and it was indeed a service animal. They just snatched it from my hands. You could post a sign stating that for anyone who does or doesn't have a service animal. Train your staff to ask as the email stated. The email states you could have looked for a variance in the rule like most establishments do allowing non service animals as well. Hope you take some of these recommendations and implement them for your business and clientele. read more

The Food was good but the ambiance is NOT good. Very loud, Poor acoustics. I worry for this restaurant, it's like they're not quite sure what they should be. It's too expensive for the ambiance. My wife and I decided to visit lady bird for our first anniversary. I was so surprised by the welcoming and kindness we were shown by all the staff. The remodeling they did to this building is amazing! We started off with a Hugo spritz and my wife had the old fashioned. They were both so delicious. For dinner we had the New York Medium rare the steak was very tender and delicious combination with the tomato salsa and mushrooms. I had the fluke with the Buerre blanc sauce. I really enjoyed this dish! We highly recommend the Lava Cake for dessert!. Thank you for the wonderful experience and making our anniversary special. read more

The food was excellent and the service top notch. The elk sausage scramble is delicious and the sourdough pancakes are perfect. We went there before the St Patrick's Day Pub Crawl and are so glad we did. The four of us had a superb breakfast before heading out for our day. We recommend this place highly.
