Love love loved my experience! The owner and Kayla were soooo hospitable and supportive. They always asked if I liked my nails and did an amazing job! Definitely coming back

My second time here and so far so good. Kayla, and I hope this is her name has done a wonderful job. She's so nice and talented. I said do whatever and she has done a great job

Happy first timer! I mistakenly went a day before my confirmed appointment and was bummed because there was no way i was going to make it. I called later in the day and the staff was very nice and really tried to work something out for me! Not only did they get to squeeze me in i also got BOMB NAILS which is what i envisioned and wanted. Usually last minute accommodations are for something simple but they definitely delivered for me! Ms Claritza (funkynailpolish) was a gem thank you for everything will be back!

Got my nails done by Alex. She did an amazing job and very friendly. Love the conversation. Will be back soon

Awesome establishment! I typically do my nails every 2-3 weeks, which consist of a gel mani and regular pedicure. My regular spot was booked solid and I really wanted my nails done. My regular place uses a website for appointment booking called -'Vagaro". I began searching around on the site for an available nail spot and voila! the 'Lacquer Room' appeared. I checked out their social media and instantly booked. Not only did they have availability but they had convenient hours for people who don't work your typical 9-5 hours. I booked an appointment for Friday evening and arrived on-time. Lacquer Room is located in the heart of the south Bronx. The area appears to be changing immensely and the Lacquer Room with its beautiful, modern decor, fits right in place. Keep in mind, there is street (metered) parking only. Upon arriving, I was greeted kindly by a young lady at the first station, who I think is the owner. I believe the business is minority owned (so happy to support!). I had booked with Kerry however, she was a little behind so I went with another tech who was new and unfortunately, I forget her name. Upon walking in, you'll see the modern decor of the space. Its small but not tiny with exposed brick walls, and touches of white and clear furniture. Towards the back of the salon, there are shelves of polish. Lacquer Room has a great assortment of polishes including: OPI, Essie, and Color Club. This probably the first place I've been to outside of Manhattan that had such a large collection of Essie. There was also a vast collection of gel polishes. The pedicure was basic and relaxing. I choose a simple polish, no designs. For my hands, I requested a french design and to my surprise, I was offered different shades of base coat and white polish. I don't think I've ever been given that much attention on this design before, but I liked it! Shows how much they care about your satisfaction. My nails looked absolutely beautiful upon completion. I was really satisfied however the polish chipped in one corner within a day. I was not bothered but then they began to chip even more as time went on. To be fair, I do not think this was the salon's doing for 2 reasons - firstly, my nails were square shaped which increases the risk of them being caught onto something further lifting the polish. Secondly, I had been cleaning (without gloves) and washing my hands more often than usual in the days following this service, I think this caused the gel to breakdown faster. I have no doubt that the owner would've fixed the issue had I gone back to complain. The service was amazing. Everyone was kind, attentive, and courteous. I was advised of any changes to my service, I was asked what my desires were, and even informed about add'l charges (e.g., designs, taxes, etc.). The nail techs also seem to be very well-versed at their craft. The designs are immaculate and intricately beautiful. Overall, I will be returning and providing a follow-up review. I would also recommend to others, it's definitely a hidden gem in the area.

I really wanted to like this place and make it my routine and that is why I tried it twice. I had Tena as a nail tech. Her attitude towards her work comes off as she hates what she does. The first time we met,, as I am telling her what I would like,, she wouldn't even acknowledge what I would ask for and proceed to huff and puff.. I got a full set of acrylic nails twice ( first set lasted a week and a half and the design came off the second day). The second set (nude color) this is the 3rd day from getting them done. I've attached pictures of the work. Really disappointed. Not a great job and the nail tech has attitude problems. Their IG page shows great designs and amazing work but I did not have that experience personally!

This nail salon is cute with industrial features like gorgeous brick walls; the decoration and set up is nice. Plush chairs with bowls for pedicure station. The shop's ambience is chill and family like. Also the place is clean, which is a necessity of a nail salon but is not always present. My service: I went in for a fill-in on my stiletto shaped nails and to fix a pinky nail that I broke. The female who did my nails never introduced herself to me nor said much to me even though the other techs were nice and chatty. At the end I had to ask her name: Tina. The entire time doing my nails, was watching some movie or video on her phone. As a result, she buffed my nail too close to cuticle and caused 2 nics. The nail repair that was done, part of the old acrylic was left. She got off enough to apply the tip and then buffed and added acrylic to blend the two. Never had that done before but as long as it works. Then I was told they do regular polish with a gel top coat instead of gel polish. Again I've never had that done before but if they find it works, I'm wit it. Then I wanted a matte finish. She did a regular gel top coat then did the matter top coat. And her UV gel machine apparently wasn't working well as it took many attempts and multiple hand insertion/removals to get the light to activate. Problems: I paid $50 for the service ($25 fill in, $5 nail fix, $10 gel top coat, $10 matte top coat) and tipped. More than in my area and was surprised i was being charged for two top coats. But I pay for quality. However as I mentioned I was cut by the buffer and this morning (not even 24 hrs) I already noticed my polish coming off at the tips with my pointer right hand being the worse...like a chip. Not sure if this was caused by the uv light failure or the polish but I'm not pleased.

I've been coming here for years and they never fail me! Go here and you won't be disappointed!

I honestly don't know where to begin when it comes to this place. I got there around 2:30 and I wasn't officially seen until close to 5pm. The one lady had me soaking off my SNS nails for an hour. Which I thought was a bit excessive. Usually when I go to a nail salon when I walk in, I'm greeted and asked to chose a color or am shown a portfolio of nail colors/styles. Not here. I just sat in a chair with some warm acetic acid soaking off my nails. After AN HOUR of waiting, The main nail tech poured a glass of moscato and apologized "for the wait" for a few of us which I turned down because moscato is not my thing . The place is also very unhygienic, the main nail tech painted a customers toenails then afterwards proceeded to do another customers nails without washing her hands in between customers!!! Their time management also sucks! The staff were taking lunch breaks without saying anything to the customers, I came to the salon before many customers but they got seen before me and left before me because I felt like it was personal. They don't communicate well with the guests nor do they have proper customer service skills. By the time it was seen, The girl who goes by the name of "T" was extremely rude! like her customer service level is a negative zero they need extra training on inter and intrapersonal skills because they are seriously lacking I just don't know how this business will continue to thrive when they lack time management, people skills and professionalism. But then again maybe it's the area...south Bronx. My nails were....mediocre at best I will NEVER recommend this place to anyone

I was asked to come in a hour early than my appointment for 4:30 p.m. but was seen around 30 minutes after arrival. The design i asked for was executed and done with professionalism. I would recommend them.

    Chipped after one day.

I came here MULTIPLE times trying to like this spot because it's Dominican owned and I'm Dominican but for what? No idea. They use cheap quality nail polishes and their gel is only a "gel top coat" on top of regular polish - like wtf? Who does that? That's being super cheap especially when you're charging clients $70+ and have the prices NOWHERE POSTED IN THE NAIL SALON!!!! So it's just deceiving and they're making up their prices as they go (that's how I feel / what happened to me the last time I came here) I came here to do a daisy flower design for the summer. My nail tech couldn't do it because she was afraid to mess up, so she got the owner, Klaritza, to do it. the flower came out great - but I waited over an hour for her to do the design because she had a client (unacceptable, if the nail tech couldn't do it she should've told me beforehand) Klaritza's client was a friend of hers. She was doing an ombré nail design with very long tips. At the end of the service, she charged her $35 because "oh she waited a really long time so charge her this" is what she told my nail tech to charge her client. When I asked for my bill I was told I owed $75. I paid $75 for a refill, yellow nails and 2 flower designs on the nails - oh and let's not forget that my nails had a hair of the nail polish brush on the nail and I couldn't get it fixed because I live far and they were closing when I was there. The service and management is just ridiculous here. Why are you charging so much when you're in the Bronx? The place is cute but it could be better. The nail techs are way too chatty and It seems like they don't pay attention when they're doing nails. I've been cut before and bled. And my nails Chipped a day after. I stopped going here after the 4th time. I wouldn't recommend this Place to anyone. For the price of $70+ I rather get my nails done at an upscale place in the city.

    What i asked for
    Mary L.

Didn't get what I asked for, the nail tech (Kerry) was on the phone (bluetooth) almost the entire time. It's been 1.5 weeks and my Acrylic nails have turned yellow and black on the edges. When I saw how pink the color she chose was, I passed on the marble pattern for fear of her getting that wrong too. Just subpar service for $80+ gratuity. Maybe another nail tech would do a better job, but this one was just careless.

When I first started coming here, they were very nice. They use to put a lot of effort into their work, The passion was there. However, over the years the quality of service has gotten worst with each passing year. First of all the shop is "Matchbox" size and can hold about 20 people including workers, you would think all the millions she's made there over the years she would have upgraded her space, cause the prices surely have inflated over the years. I use to spend $125 bi-weekly for a full set, pedi, eyebrows and lashes! Now the prices aren't even posted, YOU PAY WHAT THEY SAY! The gel selection is POOR & LIMITED, the "By appt" techs are sloppy and money hungry(Randy cut me twice) Did you know you can get an infection from being cut while being rushed out the chair for the NEXT PAYING CUSTOMER!?? ...But that's the shop as a collective and for the water down gel you slinging, y'all should be a bit nicer(In your profession & manners) There's no amount of wall paper or air freshener that will cover up this scam of a business. Cindy and Alex were a staple in the community, however they are TOO comfortable with mediocrity for me! I'm gonna take my coin downtown for a RUSSIAN manicure, where they cut your cuticles because it's part of the service. Don't EVER think you getting your cuticles cut(UNLESS ITS A PEDICURE) or a massage here!! NOPE! They would NEVER!!! Dishwashing liquid for bubbles, wild cuticles and stomped on GEL... this is not the 80's!! We want our gel PURE.. lol If this was 2001, I would probably recommended this business, but it's 2023..and I wouldn't refer them to my worst enemy! Customer service is key in any thriving business. Avenue Nails on Lexington Ave is lacking in that department. Invest in some NEW GEL ALREADY! Invest in a spot that can hold all 50 of us when you in there being careless and rude! That's the least you could do after all these years. You gonna lose all of your good paying customers soon enough Ms..waited 20yrs to put a credit card machine in the place cause you wanted to avoid taxes!! We're sick of your BAD SERVICE...and I'm so grateful for places like Yelp & TikTok where customers can let others know where NOT to spend our hard earned coin. 0 STARS for me! All good things must come to an end and this is the end for me! FYI.. Top Nails right across the street has plenty of room, a larger gel selection and they cut and massage & it's spotless! Go figure!!!!

Walked in at 10:30 walked out at 12:30!!!??? Ridiculous. At first told the wait was 15 minutes. But then they take other clients while they do your nails. The place isn't that clean and they charge for dumb things. I paid $10 for nail removal when they did nothing but soak them and I took them off myself. So I basically walked out paying almost $50 for very basic full set acrylics. To add to it the process was so long even after I explained I'll leave with a half job so I could make it to my plane on time.

That already had me a bit annoyed because if they knew they'd be overbooked why have that time available ? The lady who did my nails Carmen really didn't seem to know what she was doing with the dip. She kept over applying it and it started to look gunky and uneven. She had to redo a couple nails a few times and she got the powder all over my fingertips and hands. When she finally buffed it out and finished, the color was completely uneven from how much she buffed that it looked splotchy. She also was using a very gloopy bonding agent (making the nails bumpy) and the final coat was diluted so it was not shiny at all. They don't have many options for dip colors so not really sure they're investing in that service much. To top it off she finished at almost 8pm!!! I was not expecting to be there for over 2 hours.
