This place calls out to people who want to make an eco-conscious choice about their lunch. And it is true that they offer a nice selection of local/organic ingredients.
However, their business model is one built on charging sustainably-minded clients too much for salad and sandwiches and not really caring about the restaurant's impact on the environment.
The salad menu with a drink, dessert, or a soup is 10.50 (the salad alone is 9 euros) and you get 4 veggies (one of which is the salad) and two choices from the "farm" (cheese or meet). Extra veggie toppings are 50 cents and cheese/meet additions are 1 euros. The sandwich is 9.50 for the same menu and there you get two veggies and again 2 "farm" toppings. THAT is just too expensive and it is possible to find cheaper in the immediate vicinity.
I would be more OK with the price hike if they made the effort for sustainability. But with my soup and salad they gave me one of those plastic one size fits all needs bags with a fork, little spoon, knife, salt, pepper, and napkin. Then they gave me ANOTHER plastic spoon because the sppon in their kit was too small to use for my soup. On top of that, neither the salad container, utensils, nor soup container have any indication that they can be recycled. At least I could recycle the GIANT paper bag they gave me to carry everything away. I think I left with more plastic and paper than food. I am guessing that none of these things are locally produced, from a farm, or organic... so much for "Label Ferme"
I DID enjoy my salad, soup, and bread nevertheless.
My recommendation: You guys have the possibility of being a great place. At that price, you should just let people get as many toppings as they like. Or start at a lower price (like 4 euros) and THEN charge extra for each topping. Otherwise it is not really much of a choice. Also I would say that you can just keep all of the disposables and give me the reduction on my salad. Perhaps you could CHARGE people extra for taking the disposable lunch equipment pack. And some ecological/recyclable containers would be a nice touch as well. read more
