    Post-blooddraw stickers. 5/17/2025
    Lilah J.

Blood draws are not my favorite but necessary. This Torrance location is located close to Little Company of Mary Hospital and offers certain Saturday hours. I usually check the Labcorp website and find which location has Saturday morning hours and schedule an appointment. When I schedule I make sure my insurance and my information is up to date. I get both an email and text message of my future appointment. When it is the day of my appointment, I make sure the paperwork from my provider is with me to turn in. Once in Labcorp's hallway or building, I check in via my text message. When I enter Labcorp I can see my name is already on their screen as checked in. Then it is just minutes until I am called. The phlebotomists that I have had on the last couple of visits have all been pleasant and professional. This last one even gave me cute dog and cat stickers that say "I was brave." Aww, check out the photo. 4 stars.

I don't know why these guys get such a low grade. If you make an appointment, it should be a breeze. The staff is friendly for the most part. The technicians are well trained and find a vein quickly without jabbing you multiple times like they're playing where's Waldo. Quick in and out. It might be different for a walk in but that's not their fault. I absolutely love this location and the one right across the west side of Torrance Memorial Hospital. They've done great the past couple of visits.

[Review #708] 2022 Yelp 100 Challenge (29/100) There's several LabCorps located in the South Bay. I chose the 20911 Earl St., Suite 250 because of its early start time & distance to my daughter's school. The facility is located between Maricopa & Emerald Streets with a private lot... plenty of open parking at 7:00 AM. The lab located on the 2nd floor of the Kenneth E. Watts Medical Plaza, a directional sign guides you to LabCorp upon exiting the elevators. We came on Friday morning just after opening. With only a couple of people with appointments, we were walk-ins & seen right away after check-in. The check-in process is fast & easy -- 4 kiosks that scans your ID & insurance card. I had to enter a few details because it was my daughter getting her labs done, then I showed my insurance card, turned in the lab paperwork, & was in... all this took about 3-mins. We waited a couple of mins. & was seen by lab technician, Karisha. I informed her this was H's 1st blood draw, excluding infancy. She was super nice, thoughtful, & gentle... asking questions about her for distraction, explaining the process & each step she's taking. Just a pinch, H only flinched a little, no tears; a bigger & braver girl than I ever was. I cried at my labs, & sometimes still do. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ It only took a couple of mins. & then another 2 for the urine sample, in & out in about 20-mins. This LabCorp location is clean, organized, & efficient; the results were sent directly to our pediatrician's office -- what a fast turnaround! We had a Tuesday afternoon appointment, & H's pediatrician received the results to discuss the next steps. The lab technician was friendly, gentle, & patient that my daughter felt comfortable & wasn't traumatized by the experience. We'll likely be back for follow-up lab work. I recommend this facility for your diagnostic needs. Wishing y'all good results & great health!

This is their hours posted outside their door. A lot of the locations' hours posted on Labcorp's website were incorrect.

I came here for a routine lab tests. [Parking]: Easy and free designated parking garage. No issue finding a parking at 8:45 AM on a weekday. The office is located on the 3rd floor. [Check-in]: I booked an appointment ahead of time. I initially tried to check in via one of kiosks (have driver's licenses or government issued ID ready), but I noticed somehow my check-in was a walk-in visit (visitors can see the status on the overhead TV screen). So I checked in again using the link given on my text message instead (Labcorp will send the link 24 hours in advance) and this time it worked wonderfully. Checking in using kiosks can be a big risk as the visit could turned an on-time appointment into a nightmare walk-in situation (could be waiting for hours) - so use the link given via the text message! [Note]: Friendly phlebotomist and staff at the front counter. Phlebotomist recommended drinking a gallon of water before the blood drawing - two glasses of water before sleeping and two glasses of water after waking up (drinking water helps phlebotomist having an easier to find veins). [Conclusion]: I was able to complete the whole process in 25 minutes. Expect a solid 4-star experience if everything is executed correctly from scheduling an advanced appointment, checking in via the link on the text message, and arriving on-time.

Otherwise, there should be plenty of free street parking if you come early enough and don't want to worry about parking validation. [Process]: There were no receptionists at the counter at 8 AM. Visitors can use the kiosk to check in or use the online check-in link provided in the email. I clicked the online check-in link and it took less than a minute to complete the process. I arrived at 8 AM and was done in less than 10 minutes after checking in. To my surprise, I didn't have to make a fist and the phlebotomist was still able to complete the blood draw within minutes. The waiting room also has a screen showing the number of customers currently being served and the number of customers with scheduled appointments within the next 60 minutes. [Lab order]: I forgot to bring a physical printout, but the phlebotomist was able to locate a digital copy by searching my name and birthday. Otherwise, customers can email a copy to PSCCWK@Questdiagnostics.com. After a couple of years of being on the bioidentical hormones I was diagnosed with polycythemia. What this means for me is that it is imperative that I stay well hydrated as well as have a therapeutic phlebotomy every four months. Long story short, my blood has become sludgy due to too many red blood cells. With the thickening of my blood, my healthcare team has become increasingly concerned that it may be harder for my blood to pass through my blood vessels. For this reason (as well as my lab results) it is necessary that I have 1 unit of blood drawn every four months. At first, I turned to a particular blood bank to have this procedure done, but was only turned away, discriminated against, and rejected for being a gay man. When I heard about Allied Wellness Services I was elated... and then, when I heard about them offering mobile phlebotomies, I knew that this was definitely something for me. I had my first mobile therapeutic phlebotomy this past week and it was so easy, convenient, and economical. I found Trina to be warm, friendly, knowledgeable, and very professional. All that I had to do was make the call and set up the appointment, Trina did the rest. It was done at my office at a time that worked for me, and we were finished within an hour. I literally had blood drawn and I didn't even know they stuck me. For over a decade I've had to get regular blood draws from several facilities and many many blood draws when I had cancer. I got needle anxiety from all that poking but I always felt minimal or no discomfort. But today Jorge seemed hellbent on making me feel uncomfortable and insignificant. 1. Rushed me when I was opening my purse to retrieve the ID and insurance card he already asked for 2. Did not acknowledge said cards when I handed them to him. He snatched them from me and walked off without a word 3. He did not ask which arm I preferred for lab draw. In all my entire life as a human being the person who takes my blood ALWAYS asked which arm they could use. Even in a busy Emergency Department they take the time and space to ensure my patient rights and autonomy are honored. I was stunned into silence. But luckily for Jorge he chose the correct arm. 4. He setup and jammed the needle into my arm. No warning. No preparation AT ALL. He just stick me and I was in a lot of pain. I wanted to cry or yell or yank my arm away. I didn't. But I did let him know k was in a lot of pain. He didn't apologize or even seemed like he cared. 5. I asked why didn't he tell me that he was going to poke me. I don't like needles. Having survived cancer and all that poking and poking left me wary of blood draws. EVERY SINGLE BLOOD DRAW BEFORE TODAY has included anticipatory guidance. Jorge said he hadn't heard of it and some people prefer to be poked without being told in advance. I explained that anticipatory guidance is important and he should've given me a choice to have a gentle warning instead of an out-of the-blue painful jab. Another patient overheard our conversation and she wholeheartedly agreed that anticipatory guidance is important. She even explained what it meant since Jorge claimed he was never taught this concept. 6. Jorge shows me a blood tube and asks me to confirm my name. By this point I have no trust in this man. He seems hostile for some reason and is short with me. I'm still upset from his painful treatment of my arm. I ask to visually inspect the tube label closely since I didn't have my glasses. Then I ask to see the remaining tubes which he hands to me....lies them on the table ... when I ask to inspect all of them. I don't trust him and wary of his attention to detail at this point. This review will not be a surprise to him because I told him this was the worst blood draw ever and I've dealt with constant poking with cancer. I was forever being poked and it made me never want to see a needle again. Not because of pain but just emotional wear and tear of that phase in my life. Today when Jorge hurt me it made me feel unsafe because I wondered if had deliberately held back gentleness or a technique to prevent discomfort and anxiety. He was in a funk and I paid for it. If he had further complaints the lab draw station should seriously consider if he's in the appropriate role. And ithe other patient gave me a pittying look. She concurred that she prefers anticipatory guidance to help prevent anxiety and feat of being poked. But nope. Jorge only responded that some people don't wanna know. Well I do and that's my right
