I have been lucky enough to be a lover of this cozy French chalet fifty nine years ago under the ownership of Gil Pique. However under the ownership of the young chef Michael Khalatian it has upped its excellence to the top echelon in several areas. Cuisine incomparable , ambience the feel of a romantic escape to a French chalet without the airfare and excellent professional staff that takes obvious pleasure in making sure its patrons are well taken care of. Situated off Ventura blvd a little side street Crebs, not far from where I grew up in the wonderful community of Tarzana home to the author of Tarzan Edger Rice Burrows. This evening would be an easy ride from our home in West Hills to celebrate my Lady and my 55 years of marriage. It turned out to be an evening of pure class. Upon entering the chalet with its warm glow of lightly lit candles all a glow , Michael bounded out of his kitchen with his usual smile and shook my hand I thought I recognised your voice. With that he preceded to guide my Lady and I to our usual table which was adorned with a bright red balloon and on the table a scattering of red rose petals. An audacious classy start to a most romantic evening celebrating our life together, and they said it wouldn't lastWell my lady and I had the always signature French onion soup and I experienced the tasteful flair of duck, chicken pate. I as usual had the best duck la Orange as crispy as it's intended to be with smooth mashed potatoes and fresh bevy of sautéed vegetables. My lady had succulent roasted rack of lamb and sauted vegetables. Evening capped off with the delicious Chocolate soufflé . Full Parisian fare again without the airfare. A broad traditional French cuisine menu the likes of Coq au vin, Beef Bourguignon , Baked Salmon , Bouillabaisse and yes I do need to try Escargot in garlic butter, and for the Italian lovers Lobster Ravioli , hold on Sweetbread in Madeira sauce . The attention to detail, cleanliness and friendliness of the staff show how much pride the owners have in their business. The gelato is swirled to perfection and the taste is amazing! The staff are super friendly and generous with the samples. There is often a line which shows how great this gelato is! It moves fast! There is ample parking in front and in the back. They also have a cute sitting area to enjoy your treat! It's a bit prices but it's a definite treat!

They confirmed a few flavors that were okay for her. She developed allergic reaction after eating the gelato. I called them on the phone to double check again, and the person I spoke to confirmed that all the gelato has dextrose (corn) in it. I am very upset about this since the employees are not all informed. If you don't know the answer then say you don't know and go find out! Do not just say whatever you think as my 4 year old daughter suffered because of it. The gelato and ambiance are great here, and if you're coming for that great, but be wary if you have dietary restrictions.

The host called All American Softy to see what is going on, and got a variety of different stories, like there was too much traffic, or their tire blew out, etc. Last I heard the host was arguing with the vendor over getting a refund for the deposit, which sounds like a ludicrous thing to need to do. After looking at other recent reviews, it seems like others have similar stories. I wonder if this is even a legitimate business anymore, or if they stopped the service a long time ago and are still collecting money for orders.

They gave me a thousand island type dipping sauce and ranch which they suggested to mix together. It was good, but i actually preferred both sauces individually. The thousand gave a sweet flavor and ranch was creamy goodness!! They also make an iced coffee frap of sorts so i got one of those also. It was exactly what I needed and not too sweet at all. You order at the counter and they had pizzeria style seating inside if you wanted to dine in, but i ordered and drove off right away.
