We were there because we genuinely wanted to buy and enjoy their baked goods, yet somehow we walked away feeling like we were being treated as if we couldn't afford to shop there. And that's the part I find disappointing: great products do not excuse poor customer service. You can make the best ensaymada in town, but if the person behind the counter makes customers feel uncomfortable, unwelcome, or looked down upon, the quality of the food becomes almost beside the point. People remember how a business makes them feel. I hope the owners of Max & Lucy's take customer service as seriously as they apparently take their baking.
