My favorite halo-halo spot!…read more I come to Cafe 86 all the time, and honestly, their halo-halo is one of my absolute favorites! It's probably the ONLY halo-halo I can actually finish because it's not overwhelmingly sweet. Everything blends together perfectly, and you can actually enjoy all the flavors without feeling like you're eating a bowl of pure sugar! Both their regular Halo-Halo and Upside Down Halo-Halo are SO GOOD! I also love their calamansi drinks and Cali-Mango Slush. So refreshing and delicious! The atmosphere is another reason I keep coming back. They even have a cute little mini library with books, which I love! There are always people studying or just hanging out, and it has such a nice, relaxed coffee shop vibe. The staff is always friendly and welcoming, and the service is consistently good. I love having a place nearby where I can enjoy my favorite Filipino desserts, relax, and just hang out.

You can either order with the staff or order through the kiosk on the right side. You have an option to type on the text box if you need to change the milk to oat milk, for example. I always ask for just in case they do have oat milk so if you have any special requests, depending on how busy it is, might be better to talk to someone to order!!! The Tiger Tea was really delicious and was a good amount of sweet. The Mermaid drink was a fav from my group. I really liked the Milo and the Ube Milk teas. They were pretty quick with the orders so it's not too crowded inside of people waiting. It's very cozy inside and there's warm lighting and some books too for people to read. There's plenty of seating and plenty of parking, which is always a plus! The whole place also has this really cool Korean café-inspired ambience that makes it feel different from your average coffee shop. Super cute, relaxing, and just a really nice place to chill. Definitely a spot I'd come back to!

What a cute Vietnamese restaurant!!!…read more I love the beautiful outdoor seating amongst the greenery and lanterns with the Vietnamese clubbing music. Takes me back to Vietnam for a little bit. They have a simple menu but make everything well. I enjoyed the chicken wings with steamed rice. The wings were so good. A bit crunchy, very juicy, the sauce was sweet and savory. There was a ton of garlic and jalepeno. It was so delicious. And the steamed rice paired beautifully. The texture of the rice was so good. My partner had the chicken pho and shaking beef with garlic noodles. He enjoyed them both. He said the chicken was very tender and juicy. The noodles with the beef was his favorite. We both got pandan mung bean drink and fried bananas of course. The fried banana takes time to make, but worth the wait. It's so crunchy! Can't wait to come back to try the rice cakes next time.

Fish sauce wings are spot on (if you don't go to Westminster lol). Tangy, mini crunch on the outside, and juicy and moist on the inside. Plus, jampacked with garlic (cooked with a good amount of butter). Not quite sure if the jalapeños do (or taste) anything, but sure why not. Shrimp was good, clean (removed residuals), and not overcooked. Lazy to peel the shrimp skin so I usually eat it. Garlic noodles are great. Slightly oily but better than most places. Lastly, got the Hainan chicken. A bit disappointing by the quantity for the price ($14), but the rice tasted good. I'd personally stick with the shrimp or fish sauce wings. The best part of this place are their fried bananas. I like to get the whole piece and eat it at the end with my refreshing calamansi coco drink. Crispy and fun on the inside because the banana is melted along the exterior hard shell. I recommend the whole fried banana instead of the pieces. Overall, a bit pricey but worth the experience.

I love that they have monthly specials too, so there's always something new to try. The whole place has such a fun, colorful, happy vibe. Their current storefront is a cart in front of Alfred Coffee on Ventura Blvd. Parking is a tad difficult but can be found on the street - free around the block if you like getting those steps in! While they do allow samples, it's difficult to select from so many unique flavors! Alas, I had their Pistachio Konafa with Chocolate Shell and Walnut Baklava. My biggest surprise with the baklava. Having tried several baklava in the past, I often forego it because it's too sweet, heavy, and thick. While the taste was similar, I found this more soft and creamy which was pleasant. The second surprise was that chocolate shell, which was freshly frozen. I can't explain how amazed I was, I wish I got a video! For a small little cart, they really had many tasty flavors.
