Plain shrimp tacos
Nelly B.

This place is awesome! My group and I have not eat and our airbnb left a note with a list, Walmart was first and I'm not into that so we choose this place and wow! I had shrimp tacos and a side of guacamole! Freshly made and very satisfying! It's a good Mexican stop in the middle of Mena.

Visited this nice little restaurant (La Villa Mexican) this afternoon and had the Camarones El Diabla.....Out of this world! Perfect spiced and present beautifully. The Restaurant was clean and attractive. The Service was quick and attentive.

Flavorful & hot, with generous portions. The mole sauce had a deep & tasty flavor profile. The meat was as tender and juicy. The service was quick, and the server was friendly. Great place! We'll definitely eat here again next time we're traveling through Mena, AR! We were here at Halloween time, and they had quite a few decorations up to set the spooky season mood.

Delicia Cancun: steak, chicken, and shrimp with spinach, Pico de gallo, and a cream sauce

Visited Location #1 in Mena, AR, on September 21, 2023. It exceeded all my expectations. From the prompt and warm service (thank you, Alyssa) to the delicious beverages, chips, salsa, guacamole, and Delicia Cancun (thanks for the recommendation, Alyssa), everything was superb.

Veggie quesadilla
Lisa H.

Excellent food and service. The veggie quesadilla were out of this world good. The salsa was great and if you ask for hot they know what that really means. Their hot sauce was full of flavor and heat. Enough to make your ears itch. Good stuff. The dessert was fabulous and devoured.

Good stuff, the crunchy tacos are just delicious and the sauce is amazing. Also it's seems so chill in here.

Delicious I had the pollo San Jose and it was great! Food was hot and waiter was attentive. Great atmosphere.

Seafood salad to go, so cute!
Corey H.

A very friendly man in a buttoned down yellow shirt (their uniform) greeted me and offered me menus and a seat on a bench when I told him I wanted take out. All the prices were moderate, the seafood salad I decided on was $11.99. By the time I had gotten back from the bathroom (clean) they handed me my takeout bag. It included a large bag of homemade chips, salsa, napkins, plastic fork and a cute tin foil created basket with my salad. The shrimp and other seafood was plentiful and really hot, it was in a brownish gravy and I got the sense it was meant for an enchilada or burrito. They added some lettuce, tomato, guac and sour cream and it was in a taco bowl. I ate every last drop and had the remaining chips with breakfast. Nice work!

Ranchero Hawaiian

Amazing! Had the Ranchero Hawaiian. Try the fresh guacamole as well. Worth the stop.

Chips and salsa

We stopped here on the way to Eureka Springs. They brought chips and salsa as soon as we sat down. It had been a long trip so that was appreciated. We ordered a margarita and some Queso, which they were also quick to bring. Note on the margarita: they don't skimp on the alcohol . Our food was just as quick and also delicious. The staff was nice. They were wearing gloves and mask and had sanitizer out everywhere for those that are concerned with that type of thing. All in all, it was a great experience. We definitely recommend this place.

Consistently good mexican food. Reminds me of the Valley. Try the jalapeno lemonade.

Great Mexican restaurant. Large portions that will make two meals. Alambre with a Cold beer and lime, can't be beat.

Papa's Mexican Cafe - Sampler platter

Papa's Mexican Cafe

This will absolutely be on my routine-o-restaurants in the future. I visited with three other adults and three kids. We had two servers that checked in often and even if something was forgotten, they happily would return with whatever we needed. They were patient with our loud table and the service was fast. I couldn't even understand the prices. It was something like $1.50 for a side of guacamole...say what?! It was a small side but in Chicago I'd pay $4 for it. I ordered the chimichangas, which included TWO chimichangas, and a plate overflowing with beans & rice. I loved that the chimi's were mini, instead of one huge one. Much easier for bringing home (which one of us did). Other orders included chicken enchiladas, quesadillas and steak fajitas. Everything received good reviews on the food quality. When I return to Mena, I'll absolutely be visiting Papa's again!

The salsa was delivered in the tiniest condiments containers- ok, strange but ok. Chips were not stale- so ok. The salsa was red- thats as far as I go with calling this salsa. A can of Rotel would have been way better. Young kids would have liked this, I guess, very insipid. We each ordered Fajita Chicken Chimichangas, rice and beans came on the platter as well. The chicken had zero seasoning- couldn't see or taste any salt, pepper, or any seasoning mix at all, it was just boiled chicken. It even had the just boiled chicken taste- IYKYK. The chimichangas were not fried in the least- they were just rolled up tortillas, boiled chicken with no seasoning mix, no onions, no peppers, no flavor. We ordered queso on too not red sauce- thank goodness- it was the only flavor for the entire meal. The beans could have been great had they been maybe black beans- La Costena brand is a thousand times better than the bland plain canned refried beans we received. The rice was the same. We looked for corn, red seasoning flakes- none! We both said immediately- THERE ARE NO MEXICANS IN THIS KITCHEN! Wow! Can not believe this place is in business. But given the small area, lack of dining- ok. The exterior and interior were nice. The , also insipid, waitresses were sweeping, folding napkins and waitress duties. Our waitress was Virginia, friendliest one we encountered. She brought me 1 drink, wish I had known to conserve it because she never offered us more. The other wait staff looked as we smiled, but non smiled or spoke back to either of us. The young man taking our $25 was very indifferent as well. All in all- we left the restaurant and area very shocked. Most Mexican restaurants in Arkansas being sisters to Texas- are very good. We honestly have never in our lives had such poor Mexican food.

This is a very authentic Mexican restaurant. They do not make their own tortilla chips, however, which is just as well because normally I overeat those and have no room for my entree! My husband and I both ordered the beef burrito and I was pleased with the freshness of the burrito ingredients and noted that it was not loaded with a bunch of shredded cheese. We ordered ice tea and it was fresh brewed and refreshing. Our waitress was very sweet and helpful. We would definitely return and try some more of their menu offerings. I was pleased to see on their menu too, that they served menudo on Saturdays as well as tamales. I would definitely return for that and give it a try.

We were here on a Friday after a morning of rock-washing at Crater of Diamonds and needed a reprieve from the brutal heat. I had the Ranchero Special with chicken and my dining companion had 3 street tacos - Al Pastor and carne asada. First, the staff were gracious and efficient. Our server was particularly attentive while not being intrusive. The decor might seem gaudy, but I've seen similar at other Mexican restaurants with excellent food. It was a nice change of atmosphere after having spent a couple hours in gray, dust-brown troughs of mud and gravel, shoveling piles of rocks into a bucket to be washed in a vat of murky gritty water. Some reviewers have said the salsa was just plain tomatoey, but I really liked it -- it had some light heat and is similar to what I've had at many Arizona Sonoran-style Mexican restaurants. Maybe those reviewers were expecting jars of Chi Chi's or Pace-not-"made in New York City!?"-Picante. The Ranchero Special was fine. The flavor profile was a little one dimensional, particularly with their white queso on it. The sliced tomatoes added a bit of acidic balance to that. My dining companion said her corn tortilla street tacos were pretty tasty. The pork in the al pastor had a little fat in it, but there were also a few good chunks of sautéed pineapple there. We also had a limonado drink which was very refreshing and delicious. Overall, a good place to have a meal if you're in Murfreesboro, AR and have nowhere else to go.
