The staff was great at Telinga's. Top notch service! They are pet friendly. Being used to many place having to eat on the patio, I started out on theirs. It started to pour down rain 5 minutes into my meal, the staff let my pup and I eat at a quiet table in the back of the restaurant. I was so thankful to be able to have a good meal and not have to keep my pup in the car. The food was yummy. I ordered the steak and shrimp with horchata. I also had the brownie for dessert. My husband says the best ability is availability and that holds true with this place. He also says I am a Mexican food snob as I grew up in San Diego and it's a whole burrito culture. If you know you know. This place is okay. Good rice. Right around Albuquerque, New Mexico you hit the Tex-Mex wall and people start doing weird stuff with white cheeses. The queso modified cheese food product flows freely. Disappointed that the veggies in my veggie burrito were frozen from a bag and the beans had that Smokey meat taste which is also a Tex-Mex wonder. Ugh, ya'll eat bbq too much. So, it is my fault that I ordered a random thing in a rural part of Arkansas. But honestly, where is the salsa at? Maybe it's time to keep your cheese drizzle and try a little fresh salsa drizzle. You might like it. Luckily we travel with salsa on us. 3.5 stars but I'll round up! When it's one of about seven restaurants in this locale, it's the stand-out. We were here on a Friday after a morning of rock-washing at Crater of Diamonds and needed a reprieve from the brutal heat. I had the Ranchero Special with chicken and my dining companion had 3 street tacos - Al Pastor and carne asada. First, the staff were gracious and efficient. Our server was particularly attentive while not being intrusive. The decor might seem gaudy, but I've seen similar at other Mexican restaurants with excellent food. It was a nice change of atmosphere after having spent a couple hours in gray, dust-brown troughs of mud and gravel, shoveling piles of rocks into a bucket to be washed in a vat of murky gritty water. Some reviewers have said the salsa was just plain tomatoey, but I really liked it -- it had some light heat and is similar to what I've had at many Arizona Sonoran-style Mexican restaurants. Maybe those reviewers were expecting jars of Chi Chi's or Pace-not-"made in New York City!?"-Picante. The Ranchero Special was fine. The flavor profile was a little one dimensional, particularly with their white queso on it. The sliced tomatoes added a bit of acidic balance to that. My dining companion said her corn tortilla street tacos were pretty tasty. The pork in the al pastor had a little fat in it, but there were also a few good chunks of sautéed pineapple there. We went here after slogging our way through the "Crater of Diamonds". We never found any diamonds, but this restaurant was a jewel. Service was on point and fast. The food was delicious and served hot and fresh. The prices were amazing for the food. Me and my wife both got the Friday special: 2 enchiladas with rice and beans. Mexican food in Arkansas . Telingas does a version of what most would call Tex Mex. Salsa very different than what I experienced growing up in California. It was tomato and oregano. I couldn't make out the pepper they used in it. I enjoyed my steak fajitas but it was very hard to distinguish it as steak. It was very tender and cut into very small pieces. It was good but a little under seasoned . Just needed a little salt and it was perfect. Rice texture wise was spot on and again just needed a little salt and the same with the beans. Buttery, cheesy, creamy. Entree was Thursday night special - chicken with rice and cheese sauce . Sauce was salty, chicken was bland and rubbery. Absolutely no presentation effort on the plate... A whole lot of beige. Restaurant was busy. Seated immediately, waitstaff was prompt, and attentive. The wait staff were almost running, and that created kind of a chaotic energy in the restaurant that was unpleasant. They don't need to move around the restaurant in an overly hurried manner, it took away from the service. One thing that I could see as an improvement to table service is that there are ways for staff to take an order so that they know which dish belongs to which customer at the table. Waiters should NOT come to a table with food and ask the customer what food belongs to who. The staff took the order they should know. This is a pet peeve of mine. When I worked at Denny's diner as a teenager, we were taught how to take an order at the table so that when the food came out, we knew who it belong to at the table, & women should be served first at the table. Wow I was so happy we decided to come here for dinner !!! The food was fast and delicious we ordered 4 meals and all of them where very large and filling!!! I would come here over and over. They are a dry county but they found a way to go around it and have the guests sign in as a private club to be able to drink and we where able to have some margaritas!!! Yum the service was great as we where greeted as soon as we walked in with chips and salsa and asked what we wanted to drink as soon as we sat down. PROS - The food was delicious, the service was great, orders were delivered super fast, the wait staff was really attentive to our every need. I ordered: Enchiladas Mindy. Horrible. I should have sent it back . The flour tortillas were almost cold and unbendable . They were not hot or cooked in ANY WAY ... not even microwaved . It had a warm white cheese sauce poured over the cold flour tortilla... I pulled the chicken out and ate it ... it was good , the beans and rice were good . Because both our meals were served with uncooked cold tortillas... I would never go back . I would never recommend. Service! Was fantastic! 3 people waiting on us in slow off peak time . We stopped here on our way out of diamond crater park. There seemed like a few pizza joints around which we didn't want so this stood out and won our $$. Positives first. The kitschy, decor. I loved it. I saw little touches in there that showed a lot of love went into this. Them drinks. Limonada for the win. Sweet and tang, refreshing after spending 2 hours in a "diamond" field "mining" for hard dirt. Service. Very nice. Attentive and friendly. Not so good :( Food. Not traditional Mexican. Queso is used liberally here. I got enchiladas topped with queso instead of roja or Verde. My wife had a ranchero special which was a shrimp and chicken rice dish also topped with queso! Our biggest complaint with the food was the lack of slices. It was on the blander side. Visually if you look at it it was plated well, with care and looked as good as a promo picture. Generous portions of seafood accompanied our dishes too so they don't skimp. I just wish they had more spice for flavor. The queso tends to mellow down whatever little spice they did have so it worked against the dishes imo. Anyway it was a fun stop and unlikely we will ever go by here again. My husband and I were in Arkansas for a weekend getaway staying at a nearby cabin. Came across this restaurant on Yelp and TikTok it was rated so well that we had to check the place out! The restaurant was very welcoming and the service was so fast. You are greeted the first time you come in. We ordered different kinds of tacos for food! We got La Camaron shrimp tacos, hubby got street taco with steak, carnitas taco, and Al Pastor Taco for our entree. Our starter was cheese dip and yes you served a good amount of chips and salsa. The salsa was so cute it was absolutely delicious. We LOVED the Al Pastor Taco it was so tasty and full of flavor. The environment and food was a definite 10/10. Came from out of town to visit Crater of Diamonds state park and this was the highest rated restaurant on yelp, so had to check it out!! This is your typical Mexican restaurant. The staff was friendly and the service was fast. I ordered the seafood burrito and it was delicious! I will say it had imitation crab, but if youre okay with that then you'll love it! This is a dry county, and one where you CANNOT order any kind of alcohol, even at a restaurant. Regardless I would eat here again if we were to pass through town! It could have been a little cleaner, there was a thick layer of dust on the window sill by our booth which is why only 4 stars. I had the tamales and they didn't disappoint, I watched a ginormous burrito get devoured from across the booth. Talingas was opened the latest (9pm) and it was already 8 by the time we got in, so we chose to go there. Glad we did! Great service and great food! The service was great. Other than the good service, there was much to be desired. The salsa tasted like they'd opened a can of crushed tomatoes. I could eat Mexican food every day, but this one would be a quick pass. Salsa is typically hard to mess up at restaurants and ranges from just right with cilantro, onion, and a hint of heat, but our salsa was a big let down. There was no flavor. It tasted like plain tomatoes. Maybe they accidentally brought out some they'd not mixed up yet. We were so disappointed. The Chicken Mexicana was okay. The street tacos were not tasteful.
