Hickory Smoked Ribeye
Kari S.

This unassuming building on the side of airport road is one you'll want to stop at. Recommended by locals, we popped in for a mid-day Sunday dinner. It was fairly quiet, so our server was quick and attentive. The overall vibe is country-ish with country music in the background, a smallish dining area, and a bar. You'll be served a warm loaf of bread that is really delicious. There is a dedicated menu as well as chef specials. My husband chose the hickory smoked ribeye with mac and cheese, I opted for the wagyu filet. (What the sign didn't say was it was only 4oz, so keep that in mind if you're feeling hungry!) My husbands meal was cooked to perfection, my filet was more well than medium, but was still juicy and tender. Both had lots of flavor and were delicious. Thankfully I was not super hungry, so if I were to return I may opt for something with more meat for less money. I would def give this place a try. A lovely family owned business, casual dining experience, good food.

Shrimp & Grits

The food was amazing. I recommend everyone try the shrimp & grits. The atmosphere was very delightful. Its wasn't over crowded and our sever was definitely on point the whole time. So glad we made the choice of going here instead of waiting 2 hours for a table at Fisherman's Wharf

Chicken fried steak and Blackened shrimp salad

What a gem! Came here with my bf on our trip to hot springs...we're from Austin, so we know good food; and this is it. Blackened shrimp salad and chicken fried steak were to die for...mashed potatoes SO garlic-y, just the way I like em'. Dana is such a sweetheart and we felt so at home with the chill atmosphere and loved how everyone knows everyone. So glad we stopped by!

Wagyu Sliders

Unique little place with one of the best ribeyes to date. 12 oz Hickory Smoked and cooked to a perfect medium rare! The chicken and sausage gumbo was also delicious!

Great Food and Service for this visit. Based on a review we decided to try. My husband and I ordered the Wagyu chopped steak wrapped in Apple-bacon and it was excellent. Great flavor and served with a glaze sauce. Strawberry cheesecake ended our meal. Service was fantastic and our server was Lexi. We highly recommend this local grill for a great meal.

Baked potato soup

Our hotel said this was the best restaurant in Hot Springs so we went there our first night to get soup. Wife had baked potato soup and I had sausage and chicken gumbo. Both had great flavor. Potato soup wasn't hot enough and gumbo had more jalapeños than I care for. We also tried the wagyu beef sliders. Probably the best we had ever had. Just outstanding. Perfect crispness of the patties. A little expensive but worth it. The food looked so good we went back later that week! We both had baked potato soup. Again tasted great but not hot enough. I actually thought mine had too much bacon, something I never thought I'd say!. My hickory smoked ribeye was probably the best ribeye I've had. Great seasoning and good cut of meat. I usually only eat half but I had to eat all of it it while it was fresh. Loaded mashed potatoes were good. Again, too much bacon, especially when eating with a stake. They were very thick, but had good flavor. I'd not get corn on the cob again. It was fine but they don't do anything to elevate it. Needs some kind of seasoning. Meals come with a complementary loaf of bread which has a nice flavor. Servers both times were good. It really doesn't look like much from the outside but is pretty good on the interior. I highly recommend it!

Cafe 1217 - A Fresh Break from the Road Trip Diet…read more What a relief to stumble into Cafe 1217 after days of heading southwest on a steady rotation of BBQ, grits, and beans. Delicious, yes... but the body eventually starts asking for a vegetable and a reset. The space itself matches that feeling. Simply decorated, with bright murals, clean lines, and a cheerful, easygoing vibe that feels light the moment you walk in. My husband gave me full ordering authority, which is always a bold move. I went straight into tapas mode because everything on the menu looked too good to choose just one. We ended up with a spread: chicken pot pie (which quickly abandoned any "small plate" intentions), field greens and baby spinach, a shrimp and crawfish cake, and one of each of Rosy's authentic hand-rolled tamales. Everything was fresh, flavorful, and satisfying without that heavy, road-trip food fatigue. The mint lemonade was refreshing and delicious, a little on the sweet side, but it worked. Service, while perfectly fine, could benefit from a warmer welcome and a bit more guidance, especially for first-timers trying to navigate such an inviting menu. A little extra friendliness up front would go a long way here. Our only real regret? Not saving room for dessert. They looked very tempting, and we'll be thinking about that missed opportunity. If you're on the road and craving something lighter without sacrificing flavor, this spot is a welcome pause.

I made fun of it when I read the sign as my father would eat Vienna sausages but this is not that, so good! The pizza is actually really good and it's Chicago traditional not Chicago pie which is thick through out. Had the long count and it was delicious. I added a side meatball to try which was ok, i found it too crumbly and dry but sauce was ok. Only thing didn't care for was the cheesesteak. I guess I had a mind fart and was thinking Philly cheesesteak which I wanted. This is an overstuffed pot roast style sandwich which is not the style I like. Lots of cheese and didn't notice the peppers or mushrooms. The au jus added didn't help the sandwich. The fries were ok the onion rings didn't have flavor. Not a fan of big fried rings. Still that dog though haha! Service was friendly and it's a busy place.

First off, the pizza was absolutely incredible. They call it Chicago-style, but honestly... I lived in Chicago for 14 years, and I can't think of many places there that beat this pizza. We ordered the KO Pizza and it was outrageously good. Perfect crust, loaded with flavor, and the kind of pizza that makes you stop talking for a minute because everyone at the table is too busy eating. The place was packed wall-to-wall, so service took a little while, but it was worth every second of the wait. Honestly, when a restaurant is this busy on a Sunday night before Memorial Day, that usually tells you everything you need to know. Also worth mentioning: I ordered a "small" side salad... which arrived in what appeared to be a family-sized serving bowl. My mom and I ended up splitting it because apparently Rocky's definition of "small" is "feed a softball team." Prices were shockingly reasonable, especially for the quality and portions. This place is a true Hot Springs institution right across from Oaklawn, and if you've never been, you absolutely need to go. It completely lives up to the nostalgia and hype. And a special shoutout to Jamie the bartender -- infectious smile, bobbing her head to the music while pouring drinks, and bringing such a fun, welcoming energy to the whole place. People like that are part of what makes restaurants memorable. Can't wait to come back.
