The atmosphere was relaxed and casual. This is a family owned business and all the employees were super friendly. We got here right at 8 AM on a Sunday when they open. It got busy pretty quick. I recommend getting here early. I got avocado toast, which is a thick toast with cheese on it plus avocado, cilantro, tomatoes, onions, and it's delicious. My hubby got the meat and cheese omelette with sausage and some potatoes and toast on the side. It was his birthday so they gave us a free slice of homemade cheesecake to go. The coffee is strong and good and the service is great. We highly recommend.

I got the chorizo burrito and coffee & it definitely hit the spot!! It's a relaxing chill vibe & the staff was amazing!! The older gentleman rocks as a waiter. He is very informative & also made sure our drinks were filled. This place was so good we went back for a second time.

Amazing food and service. Got sat immediately and everything came out piping hot. The potatoes were a little salty for me but my husband loved them. 10/10 will be going back.

This place is such a vibe. Beautiful inside and out. I didn't get pictures of food but the food was delicious. I got the carne asada omelette and would 100% recommend. The Jamaica with Fresa agua fresca was amazingly delicious. They have a good selection of kids food. The service was great. They have 1 family bathroom with changing table for baby. They don't have their own parking space but there's street parking all around the area.

Glad we found Cafe Kahlo at the beginning of our trip. Cafe Kahlo is truly authentic food you'd find in Mexico City. Their offerings include items not specifically found in most Mexican restaurants. We ordered: - CHILAQUILES: Not your typical chilaquiles found in Mexican restaurants in American cities. Their combination/layers of tortilla, salsa, and queso fresco is perfectly balance. The side cecina (think carne asada) was very flavorful! - NOPAL HUARACHE: So light, but filling. A cooked palm of cactus topped with a combination of carne asada, black beans. We went back an hour later to order two more for dinner. (They close at 3pm when we visited.) - NOPAL & EGG SCRAMBLE: Nothing fancy. Pretty straight forward. But what got me excited was how delicious their potatoes were! And I'm not even a potato fan. The chef's husband Nector was helping as front of the house and waiter. Very personable and checked in on us several times. The atmosphere is very boho Mexican with loungey music playing in the background. We will come back here a couple of times before we return home.

Egg and nopales scramble with a side of chorizo, and chilaquiles. So delicious!

So glad we popped in for a late breakfast. The chilaquiles were the highlight of our meal and I was so excited to see nopales on the menu. Would definitely recommend if you're craving authentic Mexican food.

The space is wonderfully decorated with quirky Kahlo-inspired paintings. The service was fast & friendly even during a potentially busy holiday. My partner enjoyed pancakes and I the chorizo Benny. I'd get the pancakes again in a heartbeat but the Benny had too many sauces that it became a soggy/mushy texture nightmare. Their drink menu was extensive and I could've stayed all day trying something new.

We came here on a Sunday at 11:45 and it was open seating and no wait. We went to the patio since we had our dog. Our server was so kind and gave us recommendations on the menu. We got the champagne carafe (mimosas by the glass were only $3 fyi). I got the chilaquiles and it was phenomenal. Honestly a lot of food and could possibly be shared.

This is a great question place for breakfast with cool vibes. Our waitress was great- super friendly and has some great suggestions. We go the chilaquiles, al pastor tacos and huevos rancheros. The chilaquiles were amazing. The Al pastor tacos were decent. The star for sure was the huevos rancheros! The portions were large and perfect for sharing. This is a must for breakfast when in hot springs

Unplanned stop to Cafe Kahio today.our first time there. Highly recommend this family owned and operated business. Mom's food is deliceoso, one sister's drinks are muy bueno and the other sister's customer service was La mejor de la clase! We had the street tacos and the power bowl. Everything is made to order exactly as you want it. Highly recommend and we will be back

Chilaquiles, cecina and chiles toreados. i ate a bunch before i remembered to take a picture!

this is not Tex-Mex! Hallelujah! The ambiance is great, the staff is super kind and professional, but, honestly, i would eat this great food on the curb in rush hour traffic, if i had to! Fresh squeezed orange juice, followed by Chilaquiles with cecina (i added an egg) chiles toreados, and homemade tortillas! ¡Muy sabroso! My only regret is i only had one opportunity to eat there! they have a parking lot, and there is free street parking in that area, also. Leave the congested strip, and check this place out!

Chilaqules, Chorizo Eggs Benedict, Mexican mocha (iced)
Sara P.

Food was delish, the iced mocha was a little inconsistent but the server was rly great and corrected it no problem. Plenty of extra sauce, and probably the best authentic Mexican brunch spot in all of hot springs. There's in open kitchen where you can see everything being cooked which is a cool experience in itself. Amazing art work and decor, and kind staff. Food is sooooo good. Go hungry you won't be needing a box. I come to this spot every time I visit Hot springs!

Great breakfast spot with vegan options

The mole was just with a good spice but not tasteful. The salsa verde was super sour. I'm Mexican and I know when the food doesn't taste authentic. They had x3 different types of salsa at varying spice levels which were fun to try. The menu itself was plentiful, ranging from your standard tacos to fajitas, carne asada, seafood dishes, and more. The sizzling fajitas came out promptly and were delicious, complimented by rice beans, avocado, lettuce, and tortillas along with onions, green peppers, and tomatoes on the plate itself. For around $15, this place can't be beat. I also tried their horchata which was also tasty. Pro tip: cash is preferred at this venue, and there is a small Hispanic grocery store inside as well. Overall, I would recommend this place to anyone in Hot Springs looking for a Mexican food fix!

Wife and I went here for Taco Tuesday at the recommendation of several friends. I'm glad we did…read more Nice, roomy place, full bar available, plenty of seating too. They brought the obligatory chips and salsa to start . The salsa was good! The chips? Not so much. Wife ordered shrimp tacos (with rice and refried beans). I ordered ground beef tacos (with rice and refried rice beans. Wife really liked her tacos. Two huge tacos stuffed and good sized shrimp tails on them. She said she'd order them again. I was "so-so" on my beef tacos. They were huge but there was something about them that has me debating if I would order them again. I might go with the chimichanga next time. To be honest, I'm a Texan and it's been a chore finding anything to compare with Tex-Mex . This has been one of two that might come close. So I'd encourage anyone to try this place. I will stress CAUTION though. 1) If you use the side entrance from the parking lot. Be VERY CAREFUL!! There a 2 step downs at the door to enter the place. If it's sunny outside, you will have to adjust your vision quickly to the darker inside and trip over can easily happen. 2) the restrooms are in B a very narrow hallway and the doors are heavy and spring loaded. If you are like me, with a disability, it may be a challenge navigating all that so be prepared. Having someone assist you might be a good call. Have a great day!!!

Taco Mama - The Tamale Tip That Paid Off…read more We were midway through an early dinner at Cafe 1217 when a local picking up takeout struck up a conversation and started passionately recommending Taco Mama next door. Specifically, the tamales. You could tell this wasn't casual advice, this was a mission. So, naturally, we listened. On our way out of town toward Texas, we grabbed half a dozen to-go, planning to turn them into a road trip breakfast with friends. Risky? Maybe. Worth it? Absolutely. Big hit. The masa was just right, great texture, good flavor, holding everything together without stealing the show. The sauces were outstanding, especially the red one, which brought a solid kick without overwhelming things. By the next morning, we looked like heroes. If you're in Hot Springs and craving Mexican food, this is your stop. Friendly service, a colorful, lively setting, and a patio if you want a little fresh air with your meal. And if a local tells you what to order... trust them.

The place is across the street from the horse racing tack and was surprisingly much larger than expected. The menu is huge and service was friendly and great. The prices were reasonable. Sorry. I wish I took a picture of the menu. Probably online somewhere. Parking lot is huge and we could only assume that the place is jumping during racing season. My wife chose 1 shrimp taco and another with steak. She really enjoyed them both. I had 2 southern tacos (fried chicken pieces). We both took the crispy shells too. I liked mine but I'm still not sure about the crispy shells taste.maybe they needed to change the deep frying grease? I'm not sure. I was happy to see 4 different choices of hot sauce to choose from ( 3 of the 4 are home made and good). The moral of the story is that we both agreed to come back some time and try other things on the menu. It's worth the stop if in the area. I'd be interested in your review.
