Vibe of the place was simple but cool. Really like when the place is dark and intimate. Hostess wasn't very friendly but didn't ruin anything. Bread is phenomenal. Salmon cakes were a little small for the price, a little on the salty side but had good flavor. Arancini's were the best thing we ate on the menu. They were very cheesy and fried perfectly. My bucatini Cacio e Pepe was good, the Brussel sprouts made it but also made it very greasy on the bottom of the dish as they were fried. It was also supposed to be made with guajillo chiles and other types of chiles but honestly didn't taste that in the dish which was disappointing. Lemon drop was good, but was $20. Thick and hearty without being overpowering. My filet was perfect over the mashed potatoes and grilled asparagus. While they were out of redfish they happily substituted sea bass for the wife's Ponchartrain. Perfectly grilled with that crisp on the fish that still comes through with the sauce. We've loved this place in the past but haven't been here in years. We drive down from Little Rock. We came with dear friends to celebrate my 75th birthday on a Friday night with 6:15 reservations. There was plenty tables empty. In the past the place was always packed. The dining room is beautiful and quiet with much art on display. Our waitress was the best with great knowledge of the menu and ingredients. Now the food. Arancini for appetizer. Enough for 4. Pretty good. Sea Bass, scallops, Luna Bellisimo and spaghetti meatball bolognese were ALL under whelming. Meatballs were dry and tough like the dish was sitting under the warmer too long. It's a little off the beaten track. They say it's really nice but the first thing you notice is it's not a particularly attractive building. When you get in there are people in shorts, sunglasses, kids in there. We are dressed up, but clearly, that was a little too much. Service was a little slow, but very attentive. They did try their best for one of our guest who has some food intolerances. Unfortunately, the food just isn't very good. It's just quite average. Over salted and I really like salt. It was interesting that everybody in the party immediately came home and brushed their teeth. It just not very good food. The price point is out of control, considering the quality of the food. My wife and I travel to the Hot Springs area every year. Luna Bella is the one place we absolutely make sure to go EVERY TIME. Tammy has been our server the last couple years. As always, her service was impeccable: polite, expeditious, attentive, above and beyond. The chef has never missed, concerning our food. From the 'Try this, it's something we're considering for our menu', to the ever present classics, we've had nothing that we didn't truly enjoy. Wife says the Tiramisu martini is the best she's ever had. The decor is lovely. Walls adorned with what appears to be local artwork that is available for purchase. The beauty moon shines over Hot Springs in this good feel good place. Cozy interiors and welcoming atmosphere. Food is pretty good too. Call ahead if reservations are recommended. It can get quite busy. Location is seated all the way back off the road. Crowd can be well heeled and locals too. We road weary travelers were pleased to have Marilyn's company. We couldn't eat the salmon dish listed on the menu because it contained dairy. So we ordered pan seared salmon with steamed vegetables. May sound boring to some but let me tell you it was fantastic. Perfectly done. We sat at the bar so it was the bartender that served us and she did a great job and was very knowledgeable of the menu items. I enjoyed a glass of wine with my dinner. Unshackled. Mix reviews- The atmosphere was not as friendly and homing feeling as before when went there years ago. When the owners greeted us at the door and treated us like family. We greeted by the hosts and taken to our table. The waitress Brittany was very friendly and very helpful when we had questions about the menu. However, she brought us slices of bread and garlic butter, which had to much garlic powder in it. The slices of bread were thick pieces. Then our main course and drinks were good. Don't be fooled by the exterior--it might not look like much from the outside, but the ambiance inside is quite nice, though a bit on the darker side. The servers were attentive and made sure we had everything we needed throughout the meal. One standout was the coffee martini, which was excellent and definitely worth trying. As for the food, it was very good overall. I believe all the food, except the pasta itself is made in house. I particularly enjoyed the red fish--it was flavored perfectly and a highlight of the meal. The salmon was also very good and the risotto that comes with it was tasty. The bread and butter was nice and they refilled it, although we could tell the first batch had been sitting out a little while. Don't let the outside fool you. This place has fabulous food with great service. When you walk in, the art on the walls and dim lighting gives you all the feels that this will be a great American-Italian meal and it was! 1) Get reservations 2) Go hungry We were visiting Hot Springs and the other couple had found this place prior to our visit. The weekend was booked up so we opted for Monday evening at 5:30. Our server Tim was very knowledgeable and offered honest answers to all of our questions. I had my heart set on scallops and risotto but little did I know that they had the busiest weekend of their 10 year history prior to our visit and were out of scallops. No worries though. Tim had lots of other recommendations and the chef is open to substitutions. Let's get started with the food because we know that's what you came here for The starter bread and compounded butter is wonderful. The bread is so soft and the butter is incredible. Martinis: Bellini martini: excellent. It's on the sweeter side but not too sweet. Luna Bella Martini: excellent. Not as sweet as the Bellini but really good! Mike got a Manhattan, really good! Apps: arancini balls were perfectly crispy on the outside with a bit of gooey mozzarella nestled on a creamy ball of rice and parm. They were served in a bowl of a scrumptious marinara. Would get these again. Crab cakes. Going to be honest here. Good but not great. They do have fillers so if you like a lump crab cake without fillers, this wouldn't be your choice. They did have a good flavor and a nice sauce but we would try another app should we visit Hot Springs again. Main dishes: I had the pasta primavera with grilled shrimp. The only sub I made was changing the GF lentil pasta to angel hair. I loved this as did the entire table since they all sampled it. Yellow squash, zucchini, carrots, broccoli and green beans. Just the right amount of perfectly cooked veggies in a creamy Boursin cheese sauce. The shrimp were cooked exactly as shrimp should be. 10/10 Mike got veal scallopine but subbed the potatoes for angel hair and had it tossed in the vodka cream sauce. It comes with grilled shrimp. Again the shrimp are not over cooked and his sauce had a nice Smokey flavor. 10/10 of you eat veal. Tina got the Pasta Fortuna. She subbed angel hair and added the marinara from the arancini to make it a pink sauce. The server even said that the chef said he thought that was a great idea. 10/10 Wes had the chicken marsala. His only sub was the pasta. He too subbed angel hair. 10/10 All entrees were a hit!! Desserts: The Creme brûlée was delicious. Nice caramelized sugar topping with a tasty creamy custard below. It had a dollop of whipped cream on it but alas, no fruit as I am accustomed to with most crème brûlée 8/10 The chocolate chip bread pudding was nice. Good flavor. Not too dry. Not too eggy like some bread puddings. It came with a peanut butter butter cream on top. My opinion is that a warm peanut butter sauce poured over this would make it 10/10. I give it 8/10 This is a locally owned and family ran restaurant. One of the owners was walking around checking on everyone and thanking them for coming. She also saw us out as we left. Wow! Talk about things being hidden in plain sight, we just had the privilege to experience one of the best meals we have had in some time. Chef Josh and his team are putting their passion for food on the plate. Veal-Osso Buco and Luna Bellisimo Chicken, what a way to celebrate our 25th anniversary. Then they brought us the house created bourbon date bread pudding with sauce and homemade ice-cream, vanilla bean. They offer a gluten free pasta but I ended up not ordering it. A lot of the menu is gluten free, but not denoted, ask your server. Both of the dishes we ordered were. I had the salmon topped with crab in a Cajun sauce and my husband had the Luna Bella chicken. We never finish our plates since we are light eaters but we did tonight! Bella Luna's is a 4-5 star Italian restaurant priced slightly above the "Mama's Little Italy" types you will find two or three of around Hot Springs. The drinks come hard, fast, and always on point. The food however is the real prize and rarely disappoints. It shines with dishes that are sophisticated and dare to play with innovative and unique taste profiles. The Pasta Fortuna (one of my favorites) is rich, creamy, sour, with bacon over Rigatoni Noodles and topped with a perfectly seared grilled chicken breast. It has a compelling "rotten" aftertaste underneath the rich creamy saltiness that keeps your fork moving. Make reservations as they are often booked up and you will not get a seat without them. Finally, I think you can skip desert, the Entree's are so good I guess they didn't feel the need to come up with anything interesting for after. read more

The whole point of creme brulee is the fine warm crunch of the carmalized sugar contrasted with the custard. Emphasis on warm. It's made with a flame, right? What kind of back woods place puts it back in the fridge to keep the whipped cream from melting? It is bad enough that the dessert was not properly prepared. We made a reservation ahead of time since we read that it was a popular place for dinner. Ambiance 4/5: From the outside of the restaurant, it didn't look much, but once you walk in, you are greeted warmly by the staff and it had a nice vibe. Drinks 3/5: None of the martinis had prices on there, which was weird. I thought the wines should have the year on them, but they were not listed, so I could not make informed choices. My wife ordered the Luna Bella martini, which she thought was ok, but I did not like it. The Paloma was fine, but nothing to brag about..they need to rethink the presentation. Food 4/5: First thing they serve you is bread with some herbed butter, which was delightful. We were informed by the waiter that they only had 1 eggplant parm left, so we immediately ordered that. However, it was odd because it was prime time, so we were shocked by that. Anyway, we were happy with the dish and it was very delicious. I ordered the veal osso buco because you don't see that item in many Italian restaurants. It was tasty for sure and I was happy with it. However, I'm used to having the veal around the bone, but this one was a variation in which they took the veal off the bone for you with the meat and vegetables sitting in the broth (picture beef stew almost), so if you're big on presentation, you may be irritated by that.
