Great option for lunch at end of the Talimena National Scenic Byway drive. Lots of interesting sandwich, salad and soup options. Great service both ordering at counter and having food delivered to the table. Nice environment in the back of a retail art store.

Very cute local restaurant! We stopped here while doing a scenic fall drive in the area. I had the "Big Cheese" with bacon and my husband had the "Funky Chicken". The service is good, the prices are average and everyone that was working was nice to us. Both of us enjoyed lunch and the ambiance.

This was unbelievable!! Husband and I stopped through on our way back home from Lake Ouachita and we will never miss out on this again! If you are anywhere in the area, this is a MUST!! Amazing food I like I've tasted. I can't even remember what my husband ate but he was moaning in amazement the entire time! We were greeted with genuine kindness and our waitress was so sweet and helpful. The art and decor were top notch but NOTHING beat the food!! Can't wait to get back there!

A pleasant lunch - I believe it was the spicy chicken wrap.

I came here with some friends during lunch and I can say that it was a pleasant experience with only one solid hiccup. First off, the atmosphere was welcoming with the staff being enjoyable despite being moderately busy. Additionally (and most importantly), the food was quite pleasing. 4 of the 5 of us (myself included) would come back for the same sandwich. The real hold up for me was the fact that staff came and seemingly rushed us off when we were finishing our plates and essentially killed our social time. I would understand if every table was full or if they were about to close - however, these were not the case. I should say that this was not done in the welcoming manner encouraging us to stay and visit (despite the fact that we bought cookies after they took our plates). Would I recommend? Yes Would I go back? Yes

Driving up to Fort Smith and was craving a sandwich or two for lunch and this place delivered!! Immediately greeted with smiling faces and the service was impeccable, didn't have time to snap a picture of my meal but the Southwest Chicken Melt with the soup of the day!! Authentic home styled food worth a visit!! The ambience of this cafe made it so much fun to dine in as well!!

Best sandwich shop in town with an Artisan flare. The salads are great too...! Easy parking on Main St or around the corner.

We had to try it! We both had the steaks, my wife having the ribeye and I had the New York strip. We both had the fully loaded sweet potato. I had the salad bar and she had the corn. Everything was incredibly tasty. The owner was very friendly unhelpful and it was fun to read up on the history of the railroad car. If we are ever back in the area, it is definitely on our list of places to visit again.

It provides an unique environment with a folksy vibe. The railroad car does not look as clean and crisp as their web page photo and it's been painted what appears to be a dark burgundy. It was dark and raining so it's hard to say on the color. Inside is cozy and comfortable. It's a neat venue. The menu consists of typical American comfort food, at least for the south. Three of us us ordered chicken fried steak with mashed potatoes, cream gravey and fried okra. The outlier ordered fried chicken livers with French fries and fried okra. All four of us were pleased with our meals. The chicken fry was good as were the potatoes and cream gravey. The fried okra was excellent. The chicken livers were excellent and begged for mashed potatoes and cream gravey. The French fries Ken ordered weren't very good. I think they were under cooked. We had a nice, enjoyable dinner. The service was excellent and the prices moderate

Cafe 1217 - A Fresh Break from the Road Trip Diet…read more What a relief to stumble into Cafe 1217 after days of heading southwest on a steady rotation of BBQ, grits, and beans. Delicious, yes... but the body eventually starts asking for a vegetable and a reset. The space itself matches that feeling. Simply decorated, with bright murals, clean lines, and a cheerful, easygoing vibe that feels light the moment you walk in. My husband gave me full ordering authority, which is always a bold move. I went straight into tapas mode because everything on the menu looked too good to choose just one. We ended up with a spread: chicken pot pie (which quickly abandoned any "small plate" intentions), field greens and baby spinach, a shrimp and crawfish cake, and one of each of Rosy's authentic hand-rolled tamales. Everything was fresh, flavorful, and satisfying without that heavy, road-trip food fatigue. The mint lemonade was refreshing and delicious, a little on the sweet side, but it worked. Service, while perfectly fine, could benefit from a warmer welcome and a bit more guidance, especially for first-timers trying to navigate such an inviting menu. A little extra friendliness up front would go a long way here. Our only real regret? Not saving room for dessert. They looked very tempting, and we'll be thinking about that missed opportunity. If you're on the road and craving something lighter without sacrificing flavor, this spot is a welcome pause.
