The aftermath of the 2 chicken tacos, and rice n beans.
    Sarah G.

If I could give this spot more than 5 stars I would. I should have taken a before pic but all I have left is the aftermath. Hubs and I each got 2 tacos, his was beef I had chicken, we each added cheese. I had cilantro and pico on mine he had pico on the side and we each got the cilantro crème on the side. And shared a side of rice and beans. Those tacos were scarfed in a matter of minutes. I'm seriously looking around for other things to dip in the crème it's so good. In addition to being delicious food, the service was great. It's a walk up order set up, they make it as you order it. The staff was friendly and efficient. Very happy with our first experience. We'll definitely be back! Update, we came back the next day on our way out of town. The 2nd pic is the before of the tacos :)

After walking around Granville Island for a few hours, I needed a burrito of some sort. Saw this at the food court section of the market and decided this should hit the spot. Everything seemed like it was cooked fresh, local and somewhat affordable. I decided to get your average, everyday, wet chicken burrito. I was pretty hungry so I scarfed it down pretty quickly. It was ok, nothing special about it with chicken with rice & beans inside of a burrito shell. A light, warm salsa sauce on top was ok too. Comes with a dollop of sour cream and some pico de gallo. Overall, it was just ok. Staff didn't speak much after taking your order, but whatever, it's loud in there and I have bad hearing.

Okay I lied, I thought there wasn't a taco salad in Vancouver except at Craft, but I stand corrected. Pay half price and come to La Tortilleria ~ They also sell the taco shells on their own for $1 each if you want to bring them back to your home.

Small chicken taco salad, it's good with fresh salsa and guacamole

I like the taco salad here, price is reasonable for 8 bucks includes all the fixings, yes, guacamole included. I like it, simple, and affordable.

11 bucks for a small salad is pretty expensive to be honest.. but it was delicious and I love that you could eat the bowl too!!

I was at the market and wanted a snack. La Tortilleria looked promising so I decided to give it a shot. I ordered a small beef taco salad. It was the only thing I ordered and it came out to $8 after tax. The tortilla bowl had a nice crunch to it and didn't taste too oily. The ingredients were very fresh. The beef was good but I wish that there had been a little more of it. I loved the guacamole, salsa, and the generous dollop of sour cream. I often find the taste of cilantro is too overpowering in fresh salsa but that wasn't the case here. I realize that eating at Granville Island comes at a premium but $8 is a little too much for the size of the salad.

Had lunch here today and ordered the Chicken Burrito with black beans.... YUM YUM YUM! the salsa was fresh and the sour cream was pilled high. I was pleasantly surprised both at the portion size and the taste of the food. I don't think we needed to order the mexi fries but I get soooo excited around mexican food I just cant help but over indulge. The woman behind the counter was pleasant and quick.. two things I look for in fast food. two thumbs up from this yelper!

Chicken burrito, includes lettuce, sour cream, and tomatoes. The burrito had beans, cheese, and chicken. Absolutely delicious =)

I had the Chicken Burrito - covered in sauce, with sour cream, lettuce, and tomatoes on the side. I have to say: it was pleasant! The portion was generous, and it wasn't terribly expensive ($9.00, no tax). I'd recommend coming here, but it was a quite busy. Apart from that, the service was decent, and the food was good.

Tried the bean taco salad. Fast, tasty and view that you cannot beat. Fresh salsa. Prices are not bad for a tourist place.

Big taco salad and view of the water

Visiting Vancouver, we had to stop at Granville Island and walk around for a few hours. I looked online before coming at the restaurant options and I saw they had taco salads. I had been craving a salad for a few days and thought, for the price, I couldn't go wrong with La Tortilleria. I got the big taco salad with chicken for $13 and, the sign was right, it's the size for if you're "really hungry". I almost couldn't finish all of it because there was so much. It came with black beans, chicken, lettuce, tomatoes, cheese, guacamole, and I added onions and jalapenos for no additional cost. The jalapenos were minced but I was looking for spice rather than crunch this time, and they're easier to mix in. We went on a Monday afternoon and it was very busy inside so we couldn't find seating. However, it wasn't raining outside so we enjoyed the outside seating and atmosphere. There were lots of birds around (don't feed them) but they never tried to steal anyone's food while we were there.

Unique taco place, but expensive, messy and the portions are small. Beef burritos were heavy on filler, light on the beef. Expected more.

Sat us down, took our orders and brought us our food then quickly brought the bill so they could change tables over. The Margarita here was excellent. Definitely felt like a strong boozey drink. Well done! Tried their Chilaquiles - not sure what I was expecting but this was more nachos than anything else. Definitely not the best in the city either. Maiz De Cole - strangely the best option that I selected. The chilli, lamb, cilantro just went so well. Great light option if you need one. Definitely not better than a good Mexican street corn though. Birria Taco - wanted to like this but didn't leave much to be desired. Large portions of protein Ordered the extra Birria as my date also wanted this. Looking back, should have stuck with the single order. It was way too much birria protein which after a few bites became overly dry and lacked flavour. Carnitas Tacos - come in a order of 2. Better option for smaller appetites. Overall, felt a bit steep in price. Their website online doesn't even post prices yet.

Our server was attentive and around when we needed something but never interrupting, and his recommendations ended up being some of our favourite dishes. The anchovy olives were a standout, super crispy, packed with flavour, and not overly fishy at all (great if you're a bit hesitant about anchovies). The mushroom toast was rich, savoury, and full of umami. Just a heads up not to let it sit too long since it softens the bread. The tuna tartare was fresh and well-balanced. Not my personal favourite served on toast, but still really enjoyable overall. The paella was excellent, perfectly cooked shrimp, tclams, and crispy pork belly chicharrón that added the best salty, fatty crunch. The roasted cabbage completely surprised me and was easily one of the best veggie dishes I've had in a while. I could have eaten a whole plate of it. We wrapped things up with churros and shared a pitcher of sangria. For three people, it came out to about $68 each before tip, which felt very fair for how much we ordered. Would definitely recommend.

As well, the manchego was so tiny it was like a shaving . The bone marrow amounted to about three teaspoons of marrow. We were so sad and dissatisfied. The patatas bravas was okay. Unfortunately we do not have a reason to return.
