Even the hero roll it is made on is the right choice. Crunchy outside; chewy inside. Sure it is $17 but you know you are getting something fresh every time. Unlike its neighbor Landi's, which is more like an Italian store and butcher shop, this is more butcher shop with other offerings you can buy in their refrigerator. I took a few of those as well, hoping they will be good. If not, that is okay. The sandwiches, meats, and deli/appetizer offerings are the main draw here. I'd rate La Torre four and a half stars. I had the #1 on a roll which had grilled chicken, broccoli rabe, and fresh mozzarella. Absolutely delicious! Certainly not a sandwich for someone on a diet as it's made with lots of love! Big selection of deli meats including some made in house. Lots of prepared salads and sides. As the name indicates, the have a solid selection of pork. Also a good selection of chicken and some beef items. Service was polite. Looks like there is space for tables and chairs but there weren't any at the time of my visit. read more

Got an individual tray of eggplant parm here today. Enough for two so i froze the other half. Was very good. Sat and ate it with some Italian bread. Also had the rice balls with broccoli rabe and the potato crockets. Last weekend had a few friends over. Got some mortadella (imported), prosciutto (imported) and fresh mozz (was still warm), and roasted peppers. Made sandwiches. Was awesome! FYI: drizzle some balsamic vinegar on the sandwich! Just to let people know, this is a new place. The previous owners are the ones that have the negative reviews from before 2019. This is the best pork store in the area! My husband, myself and my mother in law are in here every week, sometimes twice a week. Every single item sold is delicious. Don't doubt just go in and buy/try everything! The food is fresh, even down to the packaging is taken well care of. You can watch them making all the food and sausage while waiting. We only buy our meats, fresh mozz, and antipasto here. We also bring it for family parties in NJ and everyone raves of the food. I visited Brooklyn for the first time this week (I live in Northern California). Out here, you don't have "pork stores"... so I HAD to go in! I was overwhelmed by how much meat, sausage, cheeses they had... The young man working the counter who helped me was SO patient and helpful... he suggested some cheeses, when I bought the pre-packaged piece of smoked gouda, he offered to slice it up for me, and everything came wrapped in heavy white butcher paper! It was like something out of a movie, right down to the Brooklyn accent!! I also bought a slab of something called "pizza rustica"... omg... worth the trip to Brooklyn for that alone!!! I'm back home as of this morning, and I just had my first piece of it, and it's SOOO good, and it's making me wish I were back in Brooklyn... This place looks like Landi's more raw cousin down on the other end of Ave N. Combined with Alliota's and Moretti's right next store, as well as Frank's around the corner and a new Calabrese restaurant opening on the other corner, this is a fairly one-stop block for Italian food. La Torre is a fairly sizable store for groceries as well as being a pork store. They have a large open kitchen in the back, and I remember one time where I saw them take a huge sheet of freshly cooked broccoli rabe. Their line setup is archaic, but they make some really great stuff here. Last time I got a roast beef sandwich with fresh mozz, gravy, and onions on a roll. The bread is interestingly not from Moretti's (which Landi's carries), but instead Il Fornaretto in Bensonhurst. This bread was great as usual, and my only complaint was that it could've been a bit crustier. Their roast beef was homemade of course and had good flavor, but I like mine more rare. The homemade fresh mozz was great however, and made the sandwich along with the bread. They didn't kill the thing with gravy either, and while it was a big sandwich it wasn't one of those places that packs a ridculous amount of meat. I also tried a sample of their homemade soppressata, which was all about the pork rather than the spices unlike most places (a good thing). I have a feeling this may be a 5 star place overall, but I have to check it out more before I can say that. read more

They have the best rice balls and prosciutto balls. Their sausages are high quality and very fresh. I use them to make incredible sausage, peppers and onions. The owners are behind the counter everyday, are very friendly and helpful. I recommend this store if you like fresh meats and products, cleanliness and a friendly smile behind the counter. Anyone that has given this store a negative review prior to approx Jan. 2019 should go back to the store and then update your review. This store was sold a couple of years ago to an owner who either didn't know what they were doing or didn't care. Luckily it has now changed hands again and it is restored to its former glory. Pork store is okay but the bakery is terrible. Bought three cakes here recently and there is always a problem. I will start from worst/last time to first. I bought a totally chocolate cake for the Superbowl, had cherries in the middle with vanilla cream. My friend is allergic. Bought a cheese cake that was sour (same trip). before that time, I called and asked how much and do they have a carrot cake. Yes, and $33. I got there and the price was $42 and they acted like I never called and even told me the $33 price has not been around since the 1990's. What's in that, gold? We saw this store and went in a a whim. Found out they had opened only three weeks ago. Everything looked so good, we ended up buying a lot. Their dried sausage is great, and am looking forward to to cooking the hot sausage and the ravioli I bought. The staff is super nice, and gave my husband and I a rice ball to try.
